I used to play PUBG and I didn't really get fortnite when it came out. Having played both, I personally prefer Fortnite. It's distinct and original look at least makes it nice to look at when you gotta do a lot of running, unlike the brown and yellow blandness that is the PUBG map. Both gameplay is very similar except for the building overall (which either adds a layer for you or pisses you off).

I think because Fortnite is more chill overall, I get less angry with it and makes me want to play more. The win flowchart for PUBG is just-

"Do you have a sniper?"
No

"Are you dead yet?"
No

"Repeat until you've won, died or became a chinese hacker".

Whereas snipers aren't as bullshit in Fortnite so I can actually be happy with having a shotty and assault rifle rather than being limited to pretty much one weapon :/

Not to sidetrack the conversation, but I'd like to say I'm rather disappointed with the new "Battlefield V" trailer. I've been waiting for a remastered 1942 for years, and this... this just looks awful. Not that the graphics aren't stunning, but I struggle to think of what in the world was Dice/EA thinking when they decided to release this trailer to the public.

Huh, I didn't even know there was a new Battlefield trailer until seeing your post just now. Goes to show how late I am to the party when it comes to video game news and such. I haven't played a Battlefield game since...Battlefield 3, I think? It was fun to fly around in a jet but that's all I took from the experience. A remastered version of 1942 would have been great, because 1942 was probably the best Battlefield game.

That said, I just don't have much motivation or interest for shooters nowadays. Haven't played a Call of Duty game since the first Black Ops title. If you're looking for a decent alternative to 1942, you should consider Day of Infamy. It often goes on sale and it's one of the most enjoyable World War II team based shooters that I've played in a long time. Think of it as an improved take on Day of Defeat: Source.

I grew up playing 1942 and Wolfenstein: ET on my grandfather's computer, almost to an unhealthy amount of game time. In fact, I have the CDs for 1942 right next to me as we speak.

I just checked out Day of Infamy on Steam. From what I've seen, it looks great. Probably will buy it whenever I can in the future. The only thing of note is that those DLCs are rather overpriced for cosmetics. Four to eight dollars just to give your character a fancy look from another unit? Oof. You can only play certain units on certain maps, which is understandable for historical accuracy, but not price. At least you can buy them for cheaper from the community market.

Oh man, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Now you're talking my language. That game was so much fun to play back in the day, and it was completely free to play too. Yeah, the DLC for Day of Infamy is purely cosmetic and I think it's more marketed toward WWII buffs who know all the different divisions and such.

Given what happened with Cataclysm? Yes, I would agree wholeheartedly. They messed a lot of things up with that expansion, and I don't think you'll find many who'll disagree with you on that here. The game has never been able to rekindle the magic it once had, and I reckon that Blizzard have admitted as much to themselves. Raiding for example, I miss the days when you had 10-man and 25-man heroic raid content. You could be a smaller guild or a much larger one and be able to experience heroic progression, but because of the new enforced 20-man only mythic system, you're screwed if you came from a 10-man raiding guild.

But if you're from a 25-man raiding guild (which Ion Hazzikostas was, funnily enough) then all you do is bench your five underperformers and go straight into progression. But 10-man groups had to double their numbers, it's what made retention difficult and was one of the factors which led to my guild's raid team disbanding.

Actual unpopular opinion:

Super Smash Bros Melee is a dull game.

As a casual game its aged not all that well, over shadowed by the two newest installments, the only reason to play melee is for like 2 of the stages.

As a competetive game its restrictive and messy.

Yes its very competetive but thats because the game is fundamenrally broken broken and the meta has a lot of exploits that basically turn the glitches into their own tournament level minigame. Only like 5% of Melee players actually enjoy playing like this. Especially when all but 7 of the cast of the game is completely useless in competetive play.

People only say they like this game the most to feel like a 'purist' and to condescend to Sm4sh players.

I played KOTOR II, didn't get round to finishing it unfortunately. I'll get round to it again one day, I've heard that it's a much better game than the original, and underrated too. I know that @Fabricant451 was in disbelief at my inability to figure out how to operate an airlock on the Ebon Hawk. But hey, at least I got the hyperdrive back online?

Between you and @Fabricant451 I'm pretty fuckin' surprised, honestly. Usually that opinion gets stomped on, but I'm glad people appreciate the second game more than the first.

Also for the sake of maximum enjoy, I hope you're using the Restored Content Mod.

You can actually thank her and another friend of mine, they were the folks who convinced me to give KOTOR II a try. I had played religiously and finished the original KOTOR on the Xbox, loved it and they suggested that I check out the sequel. All this talk about it is making me want to actually get back to it, maybe I'll stream the experience so you can see just how bad I am at that game.

I'm using the Restored Content Mod, yes. That was one of the first recommendations that was given to me. I didn't get very far in KOTOR II, so I'll most likely start a new game and go from there.

And I think quite honestly? People just see the BioWare logo on the box for the first game and fall into the trap of "old BioWare was so much better, fuck Andromeda" and then end up overlooking the numerous flaws that even older BioWare titles (like KOTOR) had. Obsidian are far superior storytellers, and kind of always have been.

Hah, Pazaak. I'll try not to end up like Woolie from Two Best Friends and spend the entire playthrough doing nothing but Pazaak.
