Oh no. She can totally be capable of protecting herself if she so chooses. He just likes that appearance and aesthetic. But yes, he does enjoy being the protector and the lighter she is. The less of a hassle it is to carry her around even though he would be fine carrying most around.

I feel like once he meets Bella for the first time it might not go...exactly like that xD But perhaps I'm wrong/my understanding of him is wrong.
