Calling All Heroes and Villains!
This will be an advanced RP that takes it easy. In other words, I'm pretty laid back but would like to see consistent activity. I will act as the GM, as the GM I have the power to manipulate this universe as I please. The divine storyteller above all others, an omnipotent being. You all will play as characters within this world, helping shape and build the world as we go.
If you're interested in submitting a character sheet to join this group post below! PM me with any questions or ideas.

1. World at a Glance

This world mirrors modern Earth in almost every way: technology, geography, culture, and politics align with real-world counterparts. The crucial distinction is the existence of superpowers, which are extraordinarily rare. These powers have shaped societal perceptions, scientific advancements, and global dynamics, but they are not so common as to redefine everyday life for most people.

2. The Nature of Superpowers

Rarity: Roughly one in a million people possesses superhuman abilities. The manifestation of powers appears random, with no clear genetic or environmental link.

Origins: Some attribute superpowers to genetic mutations, others to cosmic phenomena, and a few to mystical or divine intervention. The truth remains a topic of debate among scientists, governments, and philosophers.

Impact: While most individuals with powers remain anonymous, those who reveal themselves can become celebrities, vigilantes, or even pariahs. Superhumans play key roles in shaping cultural narratives, much like celebrities or political figures.

3. Political Environment

Global Awareness: Governments have enacted policies to address the existence of superpowered individuals. These policies range from supportive to suppressive, depending on the region.

United States: A patchwork of federal and state laws governs superpowered activities. Registration of powers is encouraged but not mandatory, creating friction between pro-registration and privacy-rights groups.

Europe: The European Union treats superpowered individuals as potential assets but strictly regulates their activities to ensure public safety.

Asia: Countries like China and Japan heavily monitor superhumans, often employing them in state-sponsored programs.

Developing Nations: Superhumans often find themselves at the center of local power struggles, either as protectors or tools of corruption.

Global Tensions: International treaties exist to regulate superhuman conflicts, but enforcement is inconsistent. Some nations secretly train superhumans as part of their military strategy, heightening global tensions.

4. Cultural Climate

Media Representation: Superpowered individuals dominate popular culture, from movies to comic books, creating a cycle where real-life heroes and villains inspire fictional counterparts and vice versa.

Public Perception: Opinions vary widely. Some view superhumans as saviors, others as threats. Superhuman rights activists advocate for equal treatment, while skeptics push for tighter restrictions.

Religion and Philosophy: The existence of superpowers has ignited theological debates. Are superhumans divine beings, cursed souls, or simply anomalies? New religious movements have emerged around prominent superpowered individuals.

5. Notable Cities

The story’s primary setting will focus on a cluster of vibrant cities, each with distinct characteristics. These urban centers are hubs of activity for superhumans and ordinary citizens alike:

Nova City

Overview: A sprawling metropolis and a beacon of technological innovation. Known as the "City of Tomorrow," it’s home to cutting-edge industries and a growing superhuman population.

Landmarks:

Black Harbor: A bustling dockyard known for its black-market dealings.

The Gloomspire: A towering skyscraper housing a mysterious organization.

Culture: Eclipse Bay is a city of secrets, where trust is hard to come by and alliances shift constantly.

Landmarks:

Vandefelt foundation building: A massive commercial building rumored to be a meeting point for covert superhuman groups.

Sting Ray Park: A scenic park often used for public festivals and community gatherings.

Landmarks:

The Ascension Labs: A leading facility studying superhuman phenomena.

Celestial Peak Observatory: A renowned center for cosmic research.

Culture: The residents of Auroran Spire value knowledge and innovation but often clash over ethical concerns.

Ecliptica

Overview: A futuristic city located in a perpetual twilight zone due to its position in a deep valley. Known for its cyberpunk aesthetic and advanced technology.

Landmarks:

The Neon Grid: A sprawling entertainment district glowing with holograms and neon lights.

The Shadow Labs: A secretive research center rumored to experiment with dangerous tech.

Culture: Ecliptica is vibrant but chaotic, with a thriving underground culture and a hidden dark side.

6. Technology and Science

Advancements: Superpowers have driven breakthroughs in medicine, engineering, and energy. Technologies like power dampeners, superhuman monitoring systems, and enhanced prosthetics are commonplace.

Everyday Life: While cutting-edge tech exists, it’s not universally accessible. Most people live with technology comparable to our own.

Ethical Dilemmas: Scientific experiments on superhumans are a hot-button issue, with debates about the morality of pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

7. Challenges and Conflicts

Superhuman Crime: While some superhumans use their abilities for good, others exploit them for personal gain, creating a unique challenge for law enforcement.

Civil Liberties: The balance between public safety and individual freedoms is a constant source of tension.

Environmental Threats: Superhuman battles often result in collateral damage, exacerbating issues like urban decay and climate change.

8. The Role of NPCs

Influential Figures: Key NPCs will include government officials, scientists, media moguls, and prominent superhumans who shape the narrative.

Factions: Expect a mix of alliances and rivalries, from hero collectives and villainous syndicates to neutral organizations pursuing their own agendas.

This world provides a rich and dynamic backdrop for players to explore, with plenty of room for personal stories and larger-than-life conflicts. Where will the players fit into this evolving narrative?

Name: Dr. Florian Pine
Alias: Poison Oak
Alignment: Villian, and either Antihero or Hero later on.

Powers/Abilities: Chlorokinesis - Poison Oak has the ability to control all forms of plant life, manipulating their growth and behavior. He also specializes in crossbreeding plants to create new species.
Plant Physiology - Being part plant, he can breathe CO2, allowing him to survive in places that lack oxygen. He can also Photosynthesize, so he can go long periods of time without eating or sleeping (though he can still do both if he chooses.) He is physically stronger and faster while under sunlight. He can turn his skin from green back into a normal tone to blend in with society. He prefers his green skin though.
Regeneration: - Pine can regenerate from injuries. He can even regenerate lost limbs. Although the process is slow, and requires an extensive amount of energy.
Pheromones: - His body can produce pheromones to influence the behavior of others. Those with strong wills can usually resist though.
Poison - His body can produce a variety of plant based toxins. He can administer these toxins through physical contact. Particularly a kiss. He is also immune to plant based toxins himself.
Plant Empathy: - He has a spiritual connection to plants. He can communicate with them, sense them, and see through their eyes, allowing him to witness events in their vicinity.

Weaknesses: He requires sunlight, water, and a specific saturation of minerals to maintain healthy functionality. Being cut off from sunlight can weaken him, and eventually kill him.

Pine is sensitive to temperatures whether extreme cold, or extreme heat.

Personality: Once upon a time, Pine was a shy and nerdy young man. He didn’t have an easy time socializing with people, and also didn’t have much confidence. He often preferred his plants more than other people’s company. After the accident, Pine developed a lot more confidence, but also drove him a little nuts. He still is fascinated with plants, but now he treats them like his babies.

Some days, Pine hates humanity. His experience with being bullied, along with the way people take nature for granted, makes him think the world would be better off without humans. He can be rude to people when he first meets them. He can still be rude even after he first meets them. While he’s not opposed to using his powers for violent means, even outright killing people if necessary, he does know he needs some people around to produce CO2 for his plants to function. He resorted to villiany to hurt the world that had been cruel to him.

There are other times when Pine longs for human companionship. If anyone shows him even the slightest hint of kindness, he will be all for it. He’ll cling to that person and be their best friend. At least until he perceives they did him wrong in some way. In general, his emotions can vary wildly at any given time.

Background: Pine’s parents were scientists who studied plantlife. They were often in the field busy with their research, and neglected their son. They left him with a nanny when they were away, but young Florian never connected with her. Pine wanted his parents love. In an effort to get their attention, he tried to get into what they were into. He obsessively studied plants, and read all of his parents research notes hoping that they would love him, if he showed he liked plantlife as much as they did. It sort of worked, but it wasn’t enough. His parents treated him like a colleague rather than their child. They would take him on their research trips with them, but they would leave him to his own devices. Even though his parents didn’t show their affections all that much, Pine knew he wanted to be a Botanist, just like his parents were. He was still hoping to win their approval.

Growing up, Florian had always been a strange young man. He was fascinated by plants, which others found to be odd. He was often bullied by others because he was physically weaker, psychologically delicate, and because of his interest in plants. Due to the bullying, Florian usually preferred plants to people. Plants didn’t judge him.

Despite the bullying, Florian, who often went by his last name Pine because people made fun of his first name, was an intelligent young man. He eventually earned his Ph.D in Botany and Biochemistry and was employed at a prestigious university before he turned thirty.

There, he was still bullied by most of his colleagues. His ideas were mocked, and he was dismissed as unconventional. Only one colleague was nice to him. Dr. Evan Dendron. A handsome male scientist, and the only one who showed Pine any ounce of respect. He defended him from bullies, and was the only one who believed in Pine’s potential. Pine had developed a crush on him.

Pine threw himself into his work, determined to prove the viability of his theories. He dedicated long hours to conducting experiments, often resorting to unorthodox methods in his quest for knowledge.

However, was facing dwindling funding, and mounting pressure to produce results or else lose his job. Pine developed a method that would allow humans to photosynthesize, thus solving world hunger. He was sure this was a scientific breakthrough. However, when he presented his ideas, University officials ridiculed him, and dismissed his theories. They believed there was no way humans could survive on sunlight alone.

Determined to prove the viability of his idea, Pine conducted secret experiments on animals. After many failed attempts, he finally succeeded in enabling a rat to photosynthesize. He showed that to the dean, but instead of being impressed like Pine had hoped, he was horrified. He was accused of cruelty to animals, and misuse of university resources and faced legal consequences. Pine didn’t understand what the issue was. Everyone was scared of rats anyway. So why is it when he sacrifices a few in the name of scientific advancement, it’s a problem?

Desperate to prove the effectiveness of his discovery, Pine snuck into the lab, and performed the experiment on himself. However, something went wrong, and Pine was transformed into a half-plant half human creature.

Pine was actually happy with the results, and was prepared to make a grand display to the public. Then the police came to take him away. Pine panicked, and the plantlife around him responded to him, and killed the officers who had come to apprehend him.

The Government was forced to get involved, and Pine was on the run. Desperate, he turned to the one person he knew he could trust. Evan. When he gets there, Evan is as supportive as ever. He promised to help Pine, but it was all a ruse. He reported his location to the authorities, while keeping Pine distracted.

When they show up, Pine is forced to act in self defense, and make his escape. He turns to his parents, but they are apalled by what Pine has done.

Feeling betrayed and alone, Pine turned to nature. Nature never hurt him, and people hurt nature. If the people wouldn’t accept him, the plants of the world would. He would take back what rightfully belongs to Mother Nature, by any means necessary.

Appearance:

Poison Oak is a tall and lean man with a heart-shaped face, firm jaw, and green eyes. He has a mop of blonde hair and normally green skin, which he can change to appear human. He often wears thick green glasses, but does not actually need them.

In his plant form, his skin becomes green. His hair is still blonde, and he has a humanoid silhouette. Vines coil around his limbs, and sharp thorns protrude from strategic points for protection. His body is decorated with various flowers giving him a splash of color besides green. The only clothing are a pair of green tights with a vine pattern that blend with his skin, and a pair of leaf boots.

@Crimson Flame I like it alot, everything looks good to me! The only thing I would ask is if we could do some comic book style AI art for your character? I can help with art if you struggle at all, either way I'd love to see more art. :)

Name: Samson Dalman
Alias: Pestilence
Alignment: Villain

Appearance:

Gear: A cane sword made from titanium, a hand cross bow that fires auto injectors instead of bolts, and a 45. Smith and Wesson.

Suit:

Height:7'0

Weight: 200 lb

Build: Lean but muscular

Tatoos/Scars: He has a burn scar that covers his entire back and even extends to the back of his upper arms and legs.

Powers/Abilities: Decaying touch: Samson is able to rot and decay anything he touches. This includes both organic and inorganic materials, but inorganics take much longer to decay.

Pest control: He can order around creatures most see as pests or vile. (Ex. Rats, mice, pigeons, vultures, slugs, ect...)

Tough like a roach: He is very durable able to take small arms fire, and it only stings a little, though high caliber rounds can do some decent damage.

Ichor: His blood is black and is extremely toxic but not in the traditional sense as the reason it's toxic is due to the many virulent strains of viruses and bacteria, he has living inside him. These seem to have a symbiotic relationship with Samson making him immune to disease but can cause extreme sickness and even death if exposed to others. Luckily It seems they cannot survive outside of a body for too long and die off within a few hours.

Minor regeneration: He can heal from wounds much quicker than a normal human but not as fast as most with regeneration. It takes up to two hours for a stab wound to fully heal and even though he can regrow limbs it takes a while. (two days for a finger, a whole week for a limb.)

Weaknesses: Extreme Heat and Cold: It seems the biohazard that his blood has become reacts to extreme temperature very poorly. His blood is extremely flammable and it seems extreme heat causes him more pain than and bypasses his durability and stop his healing temporarily. Extreme cold on the other hand seems to make him very lethargic and slow and slows down his healing.

Silver: He has an extremely adverse reaction to silver as even touching it with his bare skin causes extreme pain, blistering and inflammation. Also as long as he is in contact with silver his healing is halted.

Skills: Swordsmanship, Doctorate in Biology with a specialization in pathology, hand to hand combat, and chemistry.

Personality: Samson can come off as a very cold unemotional person and for the most part this is true. When it comes to his work he will stop at nothing to complete it and is willing to cross almost any line to do so. He isn't a violent man by nature but he has and will kill to get what he wants if he sees no other way. He sees the laws of the scientific community as a shackle that holds it back from doing what it was meant to do, push the boundaries of humanity.

Despite this less than flattering outlook those that he gets close to see a different side to the man. A man who cares for the animals injured on his latest heist. One who will put himself between danger and those he calls friend. Samson is more than a mad doctor creating bioweapons in his lab, he's a man so passionate he'd fight the world for one person.

Background: Samson Delman wasn’t always the man people feared. Once, he was a brilliant scientist, driven by curiosity and a desire to help humanity. But life has a way of breaking even the strongest. His wife, Amilea, was his anchor. She was the warmth to his cold logic, the laughter in his quiet world. When she fell ill, Samson threw everything into saving her. He worked tirelessly, ignoring the rules of ethics and safety. He believed science could conquer anything. But it couldn’t. Amilea died, and with her, a part of Samson died too.

Her death shattered him. He saw the scientific community’s rules as barriers, not safeguards. They had failed him. They had failed her. So, he stopped playing by their rules. He began experimenting without limits, pushing boundaries others wouldn’t dare touch. He became a villain in their eyes, but in his mind, he was a revolutionary. He believed the world needed to evolve, no matter the cost.

Samson isn’t heartless. He cares deeply for those he lets into his life. He’ll risk everything to protect them. But his grief and guilt have twisted his passion into something dangerous. He’s a man who’s lost too much and now fights to control what little he has left. His work is his rebellion, his way of screaming at a world that took everything from him. And he won’t stop. Not until he’s pushed humanity to its limits—or destroyed it trying.

Before Amilea, there was a different Samson. A younger man, full of hope. He grew up in a small town, the kind where everyone knew everyone. His parents were teachers, strict but kind. They taught him to question everything. To never settle for easy answers. That curiosity led him to science. He wasn’t just good at it—he was obsessed. By the time he met Amilea, he was already making waves in the field. She was different. She didn’t care about his research or his accolades. She cared about him. The man behind the lab coat. She made him laugh. She made him feel human. For the first time, he wasn’t just chasing answers. He was living.

When she got sick, it wasn’t sudden. It was slow. Painful. He watched her fade, day by day. And he couldn’t stop it. That’s what broke him. Not just her death, but the helplessness. The realization that for all his knowledge, he couldn’t save her. That’s when the anger started. Quiet at first. A simmer. Then a roar. He blamed the rules. The red tape. The endless debates about ethics while people like Amilea suffered. He stopped seeing science as a tool for good. He saw it as a weapon. A way to force the world to change.

Now, he works in the shadows. His lab is hidden, his experiments illegal. He’s not trying to save lives anymore. He’s trying to prove a point. That humanity is too fragile. Too flawed. And if it won’t evolve on its own, he’ll make it. He’s created things that terrify even him. But he doesn’t stop. He can’t. Every failure, every setback, reminds him of Amilea. Of the one failure he couldn’t fix. So he pushes harder. Faster. He doesn’t care about the consequences. Not anymore.

There are moments, though. Late at night, when the lab is quiet. When he’s alone with his thoughts. That’s when the guilt creeps in. He wonders if Amilea would recognize him now. If she’d still love the man he’s become. He doesn’t have an answer. And that’s the hardest part. Not the fear. Not the anger. The doubt. The question he can’t escape: Is he saving the world? Or destroying it? He doesn’t know. But he can’t stop. Because stopping would mean admitting he was wrong. And that’s something Samson Delman will never do.
