Edo-Beatrix
The twin assassin began slowly approaching Edo-Beatrix, holding his daggers in front of himself with his arms crossed. He was clearly taking his time with killing her. He knew he was ranked higher than her and she was already in terrible condition from earlier fighting. There was no challenge to be had. The tan woman, however, stood her ground. When the assassin finally charged at her, his body a blur as he prepared to slice her open, Edo-Beatrix clenched a fist.
With surprisingly expert timing, she slammed a powerful punch forward, swinging past the mute's arms and striking him directly in the solar plexus. The look of shock and pain on his face was testament to the blow. He dropped his daggers and fell on the ground, wheezing for air in pain. "I don't have to hold back anymore," Edo-Beatrix said, unclenching her fist and walking away from the defeated assassin. Before she could get back to Edo-Maddox's body, a regiment of soldiers came into the courtyard.
They quickly arrested the incapacitated assassin, but they found difficulty in subduing Edo-Beatrix and retrieving Edo-Maddox's body. The tan woman began tossing men around like ragdolls, refusing to give them any ground. "You can't have him!" she shouted as she tossed one of the guards at the others, knocking them over like bowling pins. The soldiers all regrouped, surrounding her in a circle with their weapons pointed in. "Surrender or we will be forced to kill you!" one of them shouted at her, but Edo-Beatrix didn't bat an eye.
Instead she calmly picked up Maddox's body in her arms. Despite the blood getting on her arms, she retained a calm demeanor. Eerily calm, in fact. "I'm not surrendering today," she spoke, her voice somewhat low. "I still have one last job to do." Not intending to give her any more time, the entire regiment rushed Edo-Beatrix. Their attack, however, met only air as she jumped up and over the crowd, landing gracefully on the other side. Her fatigue almost caught her as her legs began to buckle from the effort, but she overpowered her own exhaustion and stood upright.
"I won't surrender until I'm finished." The soldiers began rushing after her, but Edo-Beatrix began running as well. With surprising speed, given her condition and the fact she was carrying a body bigger than herself. The tan woman spared one last glance toward Mayt and Penny, who were now talking to a familiar looking blonde. She figured it was probably the last time she would see them. Thank you, for giving me a second chance, Edo-Beatrix thought to herself. She was too far away and it was a bit late to be thanking Mayt in person, but the appreciation was still there.
Beatrix
When lightning strikes began hitting the Dragon Chain Cannon, the assassins guarding it drew their attention to Angelo. The handcuffed Beatrix was given a little freedom in order to protect the ancient weapon. As only one man stood next to her to guard her, an evil grin formed on her face. "Hey," she began talking to him, already earning a look of irritation from the guard. "You never answered earlier how strong you guys are." A sneer formed on the guards face now.
"Stronger than you, bitch," he spat out, crossing his arms over his chest. The evil grin on her face became wicked now. "Let's test that out." The man only had time to uncross his arms, not even enough to reach for the sword strapped to his waist. Beatrix performed a front flip, bringing her foot into the back of his head and sending him flying into several other assassins, knocking him out and knocking them over. The fight was on.
Using kicks alone, Beatrix was doing a good job at defending herself. "I'll take all of you on!" she shouted as the armed men began to surround her. "You're all lucky my hands are bound or this wouldn't even be a challenge!" Before they could finish attacking, a large man clad in thick armor approached through the crowd. Grade had arrived. "You fools can't even handle the hostage?" he asked, irritation clear in his voice. Identifying him as a leader type figure, Beatrix rushed toward him. "Not a hostage anymore pal!" she shouted as her powerful kick connected with his chestplate.
A powerful thud sound echoed from the impact, but Grade didn't budge. If anything, more damage was done to Beatrix's boot than his armor. Grade began laughing as Beatrix recovered from her own attack. "You can't do anything against my armor, you dumb broad," he claimed, pounding his fist against his chest for a loud clang. "This is the ultimate defense. Nothing can break it." The timing for Jayce's attack couldn't be any better. Right as he finished boasting, the cliff began to quake.
Taking advantage of the confusion, Beatrix rushed forward and jumped at Grade. "I don't need to break your armor to hurt you," she told him with a sly grin. Rather than an all-out powerful kick, Beatrix placed one foot on his helmet and one on his chest. With a grunt of effort, she kicked off, pushing him backwards in the process. The armored man stumbled backwards, flailing his gigantic sword as gravity and the shaking earth defeated him. He fell off the side of the cliff, falling down to the city and crashing through a building.
Grade only survived the fall thanks to the armor he was so proud of. But he was undoubtedly incapacitated this time as his unconscious body lay at the bottom of the house he fell through. The cost of Beatrix defeating Grade was that she was tackled to the ground by several other assassins. While they began to tie up her legs to keep her from moving at all, a loud shout was heard from near the cannon.
"The cannon is charged! Fire! Fire!"
Despite the crumbling cliffside and shaking earth, a loud boom echoed across the city as the cannon fired. A thick, magical chain with a dragon's head on the end of it flew across the sky in a straight line. It went over the city, even narrowly missing the palace itself, before continuing on into the distance and slamming into the base of a nearby mountain.
After it latched on, there was a collective silence across the city. A calm before the storm. For several seconds, nothing was happening. Then there was a loud crack that came from the mountain. Slowly, the fallen island of Extalia began creeping towards the capital city, being pulled by the Dragon Chain Cannon. Back at the cliff, Beatrix looked on with confusion. "What kind of weapon is this?" she questioned before throwing the assassins off her and freeing her legs.
More of the assassins focused on Angelo now, to keep the cannon from taking any more damage. It had enough magic to function now, but it was also getting damaged from the attacks. As well, the threat of the cliff collapsing underneath it was very real.
Maddox
The red-haired mage chuckled with Trinity's comment on getting a new jacket. "I suppose you're right. Bout time I got a new style anyways," Maddox agreed. When they arrived at the train, he took the seat next to Trinity and leaned back comfortably. While he tried his best to not look the part, he did feel exhausted. Despite the fact Melina wasn't a member of the guild, Maddox didn't seem too bothered by her presence on the train ride.
Until she mentioned she was going to look through the guild's library. "Now now, blood lady," Maddox spoke up, waggling his finger at her. "You should be a little nicer. If we're going to let you use our resources to do your research, that is. We don't have to help you with anything." Though his words were strict, he still had a grin on his face. "A little kindness can go a long way."
