I don't think I'll be using the crossbow guy now, because I can't come up with a good story for it but still, I got some other characters instead.
Character type: Faction Captain/Friend/Advanced?
Location: Urbi Lupi
Name: Kreiss Stahl
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Race: Human
Appearance:
Height: 5’ 11”
Weight: 135lb
Hair: close cropped black hair
Eyes: Hazel
Skin Color: White
Typical Clothing: Almost never goes without his armour on. The armour itself is a modified version of the standard knight armour, with elements of the White Cross Juggernaut armour added to stabilize the user when standing still but it is still light enough so the user can move fairly quickly.
Characteristics:
-Survivalist
-Values efficiency
-Values soldiers
-Salvages whenever possible
-Sees enemies as people and not just enemies
Skills:
Skill 1: Vanguard – Kreiss is able to use magic to make specialized juggernaut shields appear a certain height in the air to crash down onto a targeted area. He can make up to 5 shields at any given time.
Skill 2: Stalwart Shields – Kreiss can combine two charges of his Vanguard ability to create a shield double the size of the normal shield and with one of two added effects. The first effect gives allies behind the shield health regeneration and the second effect reflects 50% of enemy damage but the second shield is weaker than the other shield.
Skill 3: Shield Bearer – Kreiss has an original combat style utilizing his tower shields as offensive and ranged weapons as well as shields. He is able to throw his shields and he can also use them as melee weapons.
Traits:
Omni-dexterous – Kreiss can perform any tasks his arms and hands can, with his feet and legs. This includes throwing and blocking with his shields.
Double Spiked Shields – Kreiss’s shields have the spike things on both the top and bottom of the shield so he can throw it without worrying about putting it up the right way.
Short Backstory:
Growing up, Kreiss was a fairly normal boy. He lived in a town fairly far away from the Capitol, but it had a few knights and one or two juggernauts stationed there because of nearby bandit and beast threats. Life was simple for Kreiss, and he was mainly average in most respects. However, one day for unknown reasons the entire town was wiped out in an extremely large explosion of magic power. The explosion completely destroyed the town and everyone in it except for Kreiss. He was saved by a juggernaut’s shield, still firmly planted in the ground. He had still taken damage, even though the shield had protected him so for a long time, he had to try to hunt and regain his strength.
Weapons were scarce as the blast reduced the entire town to cinders, so Kreiss was forced to learn many survival techniques in order to simply survive. After many months, he regained his strength, but there was another problem. He had nowhere to go except for Capitol City and there was no way he was going to survive a trip through bandit territory. He needed a better weapon than makeshift hunting equipment. He found his weapon in the juggernaut shield.
The shield was extremely heavy, and with the right application of force, it could easily lodge itself even into stone. It was the only thing he had, and it was the only thing he could really use. He trained himself night and day until he could not only lift the shield freely but also wield it as a lethal weapon. A week afterwards, a young man arrived at the gates of Capitol City with a blood stained shield.
Ability explanation: His shields all have a type of summoning magic woven into their design (somehow). They are linked to some runes on his gauntlets that allow him to summon them to him but they have to come out from some feet in the air limiting its indoor use and also has the added bonus of crushing whatever's under it. The shields are usually in another place and he does not carry them all at once. He only ever really carries one shield most of the time but he can teleport in up to five shields including the one he carries because the way it works is each shield summoned takes up his magic power, and each shield returned gives the power used back.
Magic power can't be measured easily but for Kriess, it's really easy to just go measure it in terms of shields because that's all he can do. He combines two shields worth of magic to make his bigger shields and one shield's worth for each other one. In perspective this means he can have any of the following combinations: 5 single shields only, 1 double and 3 singles, 2 doubles and 1 single
Kriess can make 2 different types of double shields. One has a regenerative effect and the other has a reflective effect. The regen one is as strong as 2 juggernaut shields combined in terms of how many hits it takes before it breaks, whereas the reflective one is easier to break than the regen one but reflects damage.
A battlefield example would go like this: Kriess jumps into the battle with one shield. He sees some soldiers under fire from some enemy bowmen but they aren't really injured so he puts 2 normal shields in front of them to create some cover. Now he's used 3/5 shield charges, 1 for each 3 single shields.
Another example is, he and 2 other soldiers are under fire and they are all injured so he puts down a double regen shield. Some enemies attack from behind but he can only form 2 more shields and the other soldiers are on either side of him. But he's still holding his shield so he his last 2 shields in front of the other soldiers and blocks with himself with the shield he was holding. That makes 5 charges used with 3 single shields and 1 double taking two
Kreiss would probably give quests to do with defending a place, or some kind of army stuff, you know how army guys are.
Character Type: Keeper/Advanced
Location: Urbi Lupi
Name: (unknown)/The Mysterious Old Man
Gender: Male
Age: Old?
Race: Human… probably
Appearance:
Height: You can’t see his lower body so it’s hard to judge
Weight: ???
Hair: Gray and balding
Eyes: Gray
Skin Color: White, slightly pale
Typical clothing: He wears a plain, somewhat worn white shirt and you can only see his upper body most of the time but sometimes people catch a glimpse of his pants which are somewhat ragged and dirty.
Characteristics:
-Strange
-Somewhat unhinged
-Mysterious
-Lives in hole
Traits:
-Can somehow find second hand anything, he even sells a wide range of ‘second hand potions’.
-Somehow procures stock without leaving the town, as he is never seen leaving his hole.
Short Back Story:
The Mysterious Old Man has been in the town of Urbi Lupi only recently compared to other residents. He appeared after the recent crop of town riots leading to several houses being burnt down, residents injured, and even residents killed. He was noticed when, after clearing the rubble of a burnt house, the townsfolk found an extremely strange sight.
In the middle of the rubble, there was an extremely dark hole. It was big enough for a person with a large backpack to fit into. There was also a sign pointing to the hole that said: ‘Second Hand Goods, Ring for Service.’ There was a bell attached to the sign, and it is unclear how the wooden sign survived the burning of the house.
When the bell was wrung, an old man came out of the hole to the surprise of everyone. Looking around, he quickly assumed that they were all customers and he asked them what they wished to purchase. When asked what kinds of things he was selling, he replied with: ”I sell second hand anything! Anything at all, potions, powers and even pottery! I sell anything second hand.”The townsfolk asked for all manner of things from simple weapons to old-world technology, and the Old-Man provided. It is unclear what he meant by powers, but so far, no one has tried to test him.
Old Man Explained: He looks to be a fairly old man as you can see he has many wrinkles and graying hair and he also has a wispy grey beard. He looks to be healthy, but the most that anyone ever sees of him is his upper body because he's always in his hole and no one can see past the darkness for some reason.
He's balding like old people usually are and his eyes are also grey adding to the sense of age. His clothes look worn and very slightly dirty as if he's been wearing it for a long time. Once, people caught a glimpse of his lower body when he was bringing a large tray of potions out from his hole and he had to look into one of the bottles from the top to see into it. His pants were somewhat ragged from what they could see and looked to have been patched a few times. He was quickly back however and they have not been able to get him to come out of the hole to fully see his body.
Some argue the hole itself is more mysterious than the man, as the hole always seems to be dark even when a torch is directly above it. Some even tried to put the torch into the hole but no light shone through as if the darkness was a wall that you could put your hand through. No one has tried to go into the hole yet because it's been impossible to see into it and most of the people who care are afraid of it's other interesting property.
Many people observing the hole have noted another strange thing. Snow and rain often fall into the hole, but the old man doesn't seem to make any attempt to shovel the snow out and the hole has never flooded even in torrential rain. Some even went and called the Old Man when it was raining. The Old Man seemed to get wet, but when they called him again a few minutes later, he was completely dry again. Some people fear that if anyone goes into the hole, that they won't come out again.
Some people don't care about the hole or the Old Man, but they do care about his sources. He can somehow procure any kind of thing they ask for, albeit in what can only be described as 'second hand condition'. The equipment he sells often looks worn, even the higher quality arms appear to have been used at some point. Once he was even asked for some timber to help rebuild some parts of the town, and he managed to somehow procure a large piece of construction quality timber. It had marks that suggested that it had been put into some other structure before being neatly taken out, with some holes where nails could've been and some scratches that suggest that it was dropped at some point.
The Old Man also seems to have random amounts of stock each time he is called. Once he told some customers he had 3 small red potions, 4 medium potions and 1 large potion; but a few minutes later he told the same customers when they called him a second time that he had 5 small red potions, 2 medium potions and 6 large potions. This seems to happen every time he is called, and sometimes when asked about items he used to have in stock even seconds previously he will say that he has run out of them.
The Old Guy would probably give quests investigating nearby ruins and also maybe bandit loot caches and stuff like that.
