I need to figure out more Equipment section ideas, or better ones. They feel lackluster at the moment.

By the way, does anyone remember the lien reward for the Protesters and Shelter missions?

Why are we adding lien to the shop? I thought the whole point of credits was so that people with large funds like Diamond don't get the chance to be OP as hell (?_?);

These are only for lien earned in missions. You may only spend lien earned in missions in the item shop.

Not to mention the lien shop will be largely utility and consumeables only. Basically they'll be designed as 'extra options' you can use in a mission.

I dunno. It feels unnecessarily complicated, just give a batch of 4 for 1 credit or something or ignore the cost whatsoever, none of those items are particularly gamebreaking, some like the first aid kit should just be issued period at no cost in any normal society. Not to mention the hunter specific gear which is downright treading into the credit territory by the current definition. Furthermore, what's the rule on determining what mission is worth what lien? It would vary from overseer to overseer and hardly be fair, city guard can hardly afford to pay the same money SDC does for the smae job. It all feels too difficult for a nontabletop RP, do we really need this stuff? What next, dice rolls? I'm regreting putting the credits into the mission templates already. I put them in to give the greedier characters (Translated: mine) to give them something to decide what mission to take, nothing more.

But those can be reinforced and worked on. Everything you have said is not without solution.

This is only the beginning of it, so feedback is appreciated. It does say "WIP" or Work In Progress after all.

However on that note, while you have pointed out some of the possible problems, do you even have any solutions in mind?

On the note of "I put them in to give the greedier characters (Translated: mine) to give them something to decide what mission to take, nothing more." why not this be yet another motivator then? Of course, higher risk should equal higher reward.

This only means we should take a little better care in how we make and price the missions. So far they are okay, and no one has gotten crazy with them just yet. I priced them based on the standard lien rewards for missions that I'm seeing.

@Sho Minazuki I wasn't able to adequately explain why I thought this was a bad idea while we were arguing in a form that you would understand however Forsythe has more or less just summed up the argument I was trying to make earlier. Half the stuff there should be available in the Beacon Armoury, a good portion of it should be standard issue and some of it strays very close to things that should require credits to pay for. Now in IC it's logical that we would be paid for jobs but it's not really necessary that we list the cash reward in the OOC mission profile. Unless we're going to start taking a more tabletop approach to this RP, doing probability roles for certain moves then I think this is really unnecessary. Also mildly annoyed that my semblance exists as a temporary item.

I just now read up on your character's and didn't realize, and you mean the Dust capsules? You know with your semblance you should be able to make those far more lethal than they are normally. Though this while is good for you, would be also unfair. Basically the Hunter Specific Gear section is the section that will be most difficult to make, if it's even possible without some imbalances, so it is good you have told me this.

But let's break it down then.

just give a batch of 4 for 1 credit or something or ignore the cost whatsoever, none of those items are particularly gamebreaking, some like the first aid kit should just be issued period at no cost in any normal society

A first aid kit should indeed just be issued period at no cost in any normal society, but this is equipment to bring along on missions. Normally only medics would carry the first aid supplies. This allows for an item slot to be filled with something that can help with wounds during a mission. I don't think normal society directly fights Grimm and Faunus terrorist groups all the time.

The giving a batch for credit while increases the value of credit, also becomes pointless, because people would honestly rather spend their credits on more permanent upgrades. We get lien in a much larger quantity, but credits not so much. We have two resources, I don't see why not use the other.

Not to mention the hunter specific gear which is downright treading into the credit territory by the current definition

This is going to be heavily moderated, in case certain things would be counted as a credit expenditure. Of course, this is a generalization segment, and something under a lot of work and consideration, so your concern is not something I haven't thought about yet. I mentioned it before, the Hunter Specific Gear section will be the most difficult out of the categories to make anything for.

Furthermore, what's the rule on determining what mission is worth what lien? It would vary from overseer to overseer and hardly be fair, city guard can hardly afford to pay the same money SDC does for the smae job

This may be true, but only at least from a peoples perspective. From what I see, you all have already fallen into a standard lien rewards. Ranging from generally 1000-3000 with deviations. If you keep the lien rewards about there, there should be no problems whatsoever, so basically carry on.

I did the pricing in the shop based on that. I did my little share of studying.

It all feels too difficult for a nontabletop RP, do we really need this stuff?

That's because it's new. There's no complicated system involved. You have money. You buy. You use. Nothing else to it.

Ok, first of all: Meh, you know what? I'm not going to be using it so i'm not gonna fight it either. If the GMs are fine with more work and people actually want this, good for them both, have your fun. As long as somebody doesn'T start bitching to me over not buying every goddamn thing in Diamond's hat, we're cool.

Now I am going to poke your reasoning just for fun, but feel free to completely ignore me =D

TL;DR: This is all unnecessary and complicated, the correct thing to do imho isn't figuring out what to do with credits, but to get rid of credits altogether.

1) What I meant was one first aid kit for a team, along those lines, or at least give them the option to have it free. That -is- common practice in any armed forces, regardless of whom or what they fight. Hell, it's part of every car.

2) My point is that you're asking the wrong question. It's not "we have 2 resources, why not use them", it's "Why do we need to have 2 resources at all". Frankly, some characters might be even depending on dust for their fighting style and gone ito the RP without the knowledge of having to pay for them later. To be frank, jsut about everything on that list feels like either too mundane to even have a price tag, people should jsut grab it IC and get on with their day, or too special case (radar, ...) to be expensive enough for the school to have them in few peices and loan them out for specific missions at no cost.

3) Moderating that is jsut another, unnecessary addition of workload on the GMs.

4) "Shiny syndrome". Just because it's new doesn't mean it's any good.

Once Sho feels that the page is complete, I'll have everyone vote on whether or not they want it implemented. If the vote results 'no', lien will be removed as a mission reward.

1. I think you're off topic here now, or at least off the point.

2. I honestly had considered pushing to remove the lien altogether, but that seemed boring. Why not give the players a choice to bring a little extra to help them out?

3. I'm pretty sure they already moderate credit upgrades, this wouldn't be so different. Though I would prefer to avoid the need for this and just have players keep track of the 2-3 extra equipment they decide to bring on a mission.

4. Not the shiny syndrome, being able to access a shop isn't new to any one of you, in fact all of you have accessed a shop before, and we even have another one called the Credits Shop in the RP. Rather, it's more like the "I don't like new things" syndrome. You're adverse to change or additional features, because you feel things may change or something else. You don't think rationally about it, you don't like it.

But I will push that again, it's under construction. There is still a lot of work to be done before it will work for this RP.

While you don't like this at all, you're still a player in this RP, so I will listen and respond. I won't ignore you or anyone who has something to say. I only hope what you have to say is constructive, but we can't have everything.

I am fine with this, as it is your word.

On the other hand, I would prefer it if people had something constructive to say rather than try and put it down repeatedly. I really think it can add something to this RP.

Well from a purely roleplaying perspective, this also gives us some deatph about our society. I frankly have no idea how the city if Vale operates, with cultural and economical factors being made up on the spot. And while I'll always play it fast-and-loose when it comes to the realism in a RWBY Rp, by implimenting Lien into the stiry we could have our characters understand value and the importabce of wealth. While it may be "standard issue" to provide medkits, that doesnt mean theyll go for free. Someone has to pay for them. And what abiut medical procedures ? Do we have insurance? Cause even though we are hunters, we are not soldiers. Most of us are barely adults. The wounds we sustain and the damage we make has to come back in some meaningful way.

How much money do you guys think was lost on your caravan mission? one whole truck, more then a hundred dead, more injured. All thise guards on trial. That's millions of lien lost. And the schnee company likely doesnt care because they have the money to cover it up, but can our characters say the same? Are we rich enough that lien has no value to us?
