Lies come in many, many forms, from simple white lies to blown out conspiracies. But that is all that is really certain for a lie, the smallest lies can be the hardest to say, and the biggest lies can turn out to be quite easy. When lies are so variable, what exactly constitutes a good lie? Show us how a small lie can cover the greatest secrets, and show us how the grandest lie is conceived in the mind of a child. Show us a lie that makes us confused, a lie that will make us tense, a lie that makes us gasp, and the best lie will be the winner amongst them all.
- People's Choice - The main prize goes to the winner of the popular vote, only this time, it'll be a little different. Instead of voting for the outright best entry, we want you to vote for whichever entry you consider to have the best lie regardless of overall quality. The 'best' lie may be hard to classify, but that's the challenge, isn't it?
- Staff Picks - RPGC staff each select winners from the bonus categories
The theme this time is specific in some respects but is still rather broad and some may find it difficult to pin down a particular kind of piece they want to make. To that end, these bonus categories will act as a suggestion for you if you need it, and it may even pose a challenge for those advanced writers out there.
- Illuminati Confirmed - It's a conspiracy!
- When life gives you onions - Just as ogres have layers, good secrets have layers too. Some secrets also make you cry when you cut them up, so be careful with that.
- Insidious Whispers - Many of the darkest secrets are merely whispered amongst a privileged few. Show us a lie truly steeped in darkness, but whatever happens to it is up to you.
- All's well, ends well - Not all lies end badly, liars often have the happy ending after all.
- Follow all general contest rules.
- Send your entry to @rpgc entry with the title of your entry in the subject line by August 17th
- Be sure to mention any bonus categories you're hoping to win -- we'll consider everyone for everything, but it can't hurt to remind us!
- All entries will be posted (anonymously) on August 17th, after which everyone can read, discuss, and of course vote for their favorite.
