Interested. Don't think I missed anything against it, so can I assume that doubling characters is okay? I'm trying to get back into writing and would like the chance to crack open a few different types of characters for some practice.
That depends. Two apps for two different species of Gijinkas will be completely fine, but as I just posted, I'm hesitant on allowing one too many dupes. I don't want a playable character base of, say... 2 Lycanrocs, 2 Sandslashes, 4 other mons and nothing else.
...
That said, I just realized that the supposed Alolan "Sandslash" that Ridlins wanted was actually a Sandshrew. Good thing I took a second look at that :/
Not sure about the two Sandslashes, if I'm honest. I know for a fact that Charak wanted two Lycanroc sisters, and I don't want too many chars of the same species, even they're two different forms (this case being one Alolan and one Kanto). So...
...
@Ridlins@Mangrale I'll let the both of your reservations slide for now, but I'll probably have to analyse the sheets that you two make thoroughly.
Speaking of which, I'm still finalizing how I wanna structure the CS. If you guys want, I can see if I can put it up tonight so you can start app making.
Since I haven't seen a Gijinka RP in a long while, I thought I'd try and make one up. The idea is that you get to control a Chaser; a Gijinka who actively journeys across the Neilea Region (and possibly the rest of the world if he/she must) in search of a mystical one-of-a-kind Legendary Gijinka.
Chasers generally travel in groups of three, four, or five, and can be licensed to start their journey at the age of 15. There is no known age limit in which a Chaser will be court-martialled into ending their search for the Legendary Gijinka but, unless there's a specific one that they've sought after but have still yet to locate all this time, most Chasers will volunteer to retire whilst in between their 60's and 70's. In order to support their search, Chasers are funded 500 Poke Dollars from the government every week, starting from the day and time that their license was successfully issued.
However, on top of the usual spiel of dangers associated with traversing rough, less-than-hospitable terrain, the Chasers have an additional threat to their lives. Unbeknownst to most of the Chasers, the Legendary Gijinkas are being targeted and attacked by a mixture of brutish thugs, cunning criminals and cold-blooded assassins, all known infamously known as The Silencers. The Silencers all have individual reasons for their attacks on the Legendary Gijinkas. Some have a natural battle-hunger that can only be sustained by fighting these powerful Gijinka, and whether they manage to slay them or not is of little personal concern. Others are arrogant enough to believe they could take on the whole world if they wanted to. Some may have started off as plain old Chasers before being swindled by one of the other Silencers, and are now blindly loyal to them as a result. Others have been "contracted" to aid them from the start, being compensated with more money than they'd normally earn from a more honest lifestyle. Some have personal beef with a specific Legendary Gijinka, someone assigned to protect them or perhaps the ideal of being a Chaser as a whole. And others just want to watch the world burn around them for the sake of appealing to their lack of sanity. Whatever their individual case, The Silencers are notorious for one thing as a collective and one thing only; they're extremely powerful, and very dangerous.
The Chasers that you guys get to control will be made aware of the threat that The Silencers pose, yet are willing to take that risk for the sake of Gijinka-kind. After all, it's either that, or watch idly by as The Silencers take away their dreams and those of generations to come one step at a time. I'll probably plant all the playable Chasers in one town or city that will serve as a starting point, but aside from that, I want some sandbox elements to the RP in which you all get to decide who you'd want to travel with and where you'd want to go. I'll have a few plot points on standby for specific areas, and if a group needs a "direction", per se, I can try and think of something on the spot.
...
Right now I'm still in the middle of world-building but, provided I have enough interests checked, I'll likely try to get the OOC up the following week. This'll come with its own Discord server, as well as a detailed character sheet that I can put up earlier if you guys want me to.
So yeah, hopefully this appeals to enough people.
Face Claim Goes Here Quote Goes Here (optional)Personal InformationName: (Only the first (given) name is necessary here.) Species: (Which Pokemon is your Gijinka based off of?) Gender: (Obvious) Age: (Must be 15 or older. No upper age limit) Home Town: (Leave this blank for now. You can fill it in once the OOC goes up) Favored Legend: (The Legendary Gijinka that your Chaser is (most) aiming to find in particular. If you don't imagine your Gijinka having any real preference, then listing your favorite Legendary Pokemon in general works too) Appearance: (Hider pls. Any other visual details you'd want us to know about your Chaser are to go here. Height and weight are expected at the very least, but everything beyond that is optional) Personality: (Hider pls. I'd like to see at least 8 lines' worth of words here. Hopefully that's not too much to ask.) Biography: (Hider pls. Since I don't mind this being short, I'll set the exact same minimum limit of 8 lines. The most important thing it should tell us is why your character became a Chaser)Combat InformationLevel: (Cannot be above 33 under any circumstances. If your Gijinka is the evolved form of one that normally evolves by level, you can set the level to up to 20% lower than when it normally evolves. For example, a Level 32 Muk is perfectly acceptable, but a Level 18 Xatu is not) Ability: (Fairly obvious for Pokemon standards. You may modify its effects slightly, but not to a degree that would make it unrecognizable and not make sense) Techniques: (Hider pls. You have 2 TM Slots that you can spend on TM and Tutor Moves that your Gijinka has access to. You can also spend a TM Slot on moves that are normally learned at a higher level than what you set your Gijinka at, or ones that would require a Heart Scale. The remaining moves must be in-line with the Gijinka should've learnt by that level. For example, a Level 25 Beautifly can have Silver Wind for free, but learning Quiver Dance will cost a TM Slot. Egg and event moves don't cost TM Slots, so those are free to add to the move-pool if need be. It should be noted that if your Gijinka had evolved "prematurely" (such as the Level 32 Muk from earlier), then any evolution moves it'd have will be treated as higher-level moves, which in turn will also cost you a TM Slot. You can rename the techniques if you want to add a little flavor, although you might want to put in parenthesis what move the technique is based off)
(You all have the ability to make a custom Z-Move learnt by your specific Chaser. I'll be watching to make sure it isn't overpowered, but apart from that, you have free reign on how exactly you want it to work. Z-Moves can only usually be used once per battle; as such, they're typically used as a last resort. However, if a specific battle is drawn out for long enough, certain Chasers will be able to reactivate their Z-Move once again. I'll be keeping track of which Z-Move had been burnt from which Chaser whenever a group is in combat)
Name: (The name of the Z-Move, obviously) Z-Pose: (There are 18 poses that Gijinka perform before their Z-Moves activate; one for each of the 18 types of attacks. You can probably just get away with just putting "Normal-Type" or "Rock-Type" or "Water-Type" or whatever type the Z-Move is meant to be, and look up the respective pose for later use in IC. For reference, you can watch this video for all the Z-move poses) Breakdown: (Basically everything I need to know about the Z-Move itself goes here. What the Z-Move does, what its range is, its limitations, all that fun stuff)
Money & Items: (All Chasers start with 500 Poke. No more, no less, no exceptions. As far as items are concerned though, you can list 2 or 3 that your Chaser tends to carry around with them. You won't need to list any berries or medicines or anything like that; Chasers are expected to have a first-aid/survival kit on them at all times.Miscellaneous Information(Anything not applicable to the other fields goes here, including trivia)
"Certainly," Noah replied as Hisano asked if they and the green-haired girl, who he'd later learn was named Midori, could walk to the classroom together. It was nice to walk with someone that one was acquainted to, even though Noah still had a long way to go when it came to getting to know Hisano and Midori. However, the fact that Noah was to follow them to class did remind him that he needed to set his phone up so that it could translate whatever was being said in Japanese into English for him.
...
In fact, he probably should've had the phone set up that way well before he left the house this morning. Managing to scrape by holding a conversation was one thing, but trying to sit through a lecture could've ended in disaster had this not been done, and Noah already paid the price for this kind of negligence during the assembly. He tried his best to make it look like he was adequately listening to the woman making the presentation, but what was actually happening was that the vast majority of what she had to say was going straight through one of his ears and out the other. Thankfully, Noah already got a breakdown on how to set the translator up from his mother; in fact, he already managed to get it up and running as he, Hisano and Midori were walking to the classroom, headphones in place and all.
Hisano was the first of the three to choose her seat, which was at the second row and all the way to the right. Noah had eyed up the immediate seat behind, but didn't know if she was of the type that liked her space. The whole row was unoccupied at the moment but, having no idea where Midori wanted to sit, Noah did the next most respectable thing and sat further behind Hisano than he originally intended. He found himself in the same row, but at the opposite end of a brown-haired boy with glasses... with two much taller boys behind him. He bit his lip and gulped, his nerves already beginning to show. After all, neither of the two boys were "just tall", they both would've easily out-heightened Noah by at least a full foot, and both had significant muscle mass too them as well. The first of the two, the pink-haired one, looked at least somewhat passable for someone who was merely tall for his age bracket. But the second one, the one person of color. His extremities were more into the freakish of outliers. Hell, he could've not even been a teenager any longer for all Noah knew.
This in turn led Noah to question how the guy got here. Perhaps he got in at a late age. Or perhaps... no. There was no way a Hero School would consciously decide to hold a student back, for any length of time let alone a year or two, while simultaneously allowing in someone like Noah who had worryingly little control over his Quirk... and that was assuming he had any at all. They'd be out of business if that was what their standards were. Noah shook his head at such a thought of the possibility, and looked over at the student in color, only to note that the boy with the glasses was just conversing with him, decidedly having not the slightest problem with it.
...
Perhaps the student in color was more approachable than Noah could give him credit for at first. Revising his position yet again, he gave up his seat at the opposing end and moved closer to the boy with the glasses, turning the chair around so he'd face the student in color directly.
"Hey, um..." he paused immediately, snapping his fingers a few times in hopes the words would come to him in Japanese. He debated using English instead, although that involved banking that the student in color would be the one person that could possibly understand it well enough to tell what Noah was actually trying to say. Although he was more than willing to take that chance, Noah decided that he didn't need to take it just yet; after all, he'd probably wind up "timing" the next few pauses so that it wouldn't what language he used in the long run. So he gave trying this in Japanese a shot. Perhaps by some miracle he'd get the sentence right, in which case the stars would've aligned perfectly.
"I know this maybe a bit soon considering we just met, but, uh... I gotta ask; is this your first year as well?" he asked the student in color, not wanting to add anything else to that question just to ensure it didn't come across as insensitive. After all, that was the last thing he wanted. He was already concerned that saying this more confidently than he had would've ultimately yielded the same results.
"My... my name?" Noah asked, feeling like he needed conformation that that was what the green-haired girl wanted to know, "I was just about to ask you for yours, but... since you beat me to it, I..."
Noah rubbed the back of his neck, and hung his head as though that would hide the obvious blush on his face. He looked up at the green-haired girl without re-positioning his head, and then looked over at the significantly taller girl that had accompanied her. He had no idea what kind of judgment they'd pass on his first impressions, and a part of him really didn't want to know. In all honesty, it had taken almost all the bravery Noah even had to give just to try and talk to these two girls. They were girls, after all; neither was the most attractive, nor could they even be considered attractive for the typical male, but they were girls nonetheless. Sure enough, however...
"Noah. Acosta Noah," he didn't know if he said it the way it was meant to be said, and doing it in the way James Bond would didn't build his confidence in that regard, but Noah owned his introduction, a light smile carving its way on his face and he raised his head again and met their gaze, "It's an honor to meet you."
He was surprised he was able to say everything in Japanese still. True, he avoided the words he didn't know how to actually say in said language up until this point, but it was a good start for Noah. He apologized, he asked if someone was OK and he'd introduced himself. For someone as bad at Japanese as him of all people, he'd come a long way. He could only hope his current grasp of the language wouldn't fail him later.
"Sharkfact!Sharkscandrownwhentheyarepulledbackwards!" Noah raised an eyebrow in confusion, unable to understand anything that the girl he accidentally bumped into was saying. He wasn't the most fluent with Japanese... which was saying a lot for someone who'd been born in Shinjuku of all places, but the sheer speed at which the green-haired girl had yelled her quip didn't help. Noah felt really bad for startling the poor girl, and his expression changed from confusion to genuine sadness in an instant.
"I, uh..." he stopped himself short, reconsidering his choice of words before trying to address the girl again, "A-are you OK?"
Noah had no idea if what he was trying to say the first time around had gotten through to the girl. She did shout over top of the apology itself, and the vast majority of the rambling he did afterwards was in English, a foreign language to Japan that few natural-born residents could speak or comprehend. But this time he made 100% sure to speak in Japanese. He wasn't about to allow any type of language barrier stop him from getting across how sorry he was for causing this whole mess.
'OK, you're in. That's as good a start as we can get,' Noah Acosta thought to himself, as he entered through the front gate and followed everyone else to the assembly hall, 'Now just don't blow it at the last second, and panic over something dumb...'
...
Truth be told, Noah was surprised that he made it into Chihaiten Academy. All four of the other Hero Schools that he tried to get in had turn him down for the same reason every time; while his written exam entries were more than passable, his lack of control over his Quirk proved too much of a liability for the other students. That's what he was told over and over again, and it was a valid point. Noah knew little about how exactly his Quirk worked, but he knew the damage it was capable of should it have gotten out of hand. So why, then, was someone like him accepted into Chihaiten? He could only think of two possibilities: either their standards were that low that they'd accept someone despite them having flaws that one could not afford to overlook, in which case there was little wonder why they were considered "the bottom of the barrel" in terms of Hero Schools, or they somehow knew that he had a court order to report a successful admission or have his Quirk taken away, and had reached out to him out of pity. Noah supposed he shouldn't think too much into it and get on inside already.
In any case, Noah clambered his way through the masses, zigzagging through people as he tried to find somewhere in the area where he was supposed to sit. No doubt that he had to make all sorts of apologies along the way. There was one especially awkward moment where he bumped into the side of one of the taller students, having paid way too much attention ensuring he was in the clear from those he already passed, and absolutely none at looking where he was actually going... until it was too late to do anything about his course.
"Crap..." he muttered, realizing his blunder the instant he made it, "Sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you, it's just... Look, I'm just trying to find a seat like everyone else, and there's way too many people here and... apparently I can't avoid everyone."
Noah scoffed at how pathetic he must've sounded. He hadn't even dared look up and meet the taller student's eyes. He could only pray that they would have mercy on the failure that would've stood before them.
