Another question (and I'm so sorry because I only just thought of it), I know you mentioned that Goddess Hollow doesn't have any cars, does that go for any other kinds of modern technology? I'm assuming our characters are being plucked from the present day, so does Goddess Hollow have things like phones, computers, TV, etc.?
You're fine dear. You can ask whatever questions you want. :)
That's a good question. I would say Goddess Hollow, aside from the magical stuff like the portals and what not, is about advanced technologically as what they had in Downtown Abbey, which is set in the 1920s. There are no cars in the Hollow only because the infrastructure of the city is more like Venice, so cars are arbitrary to their existence, hence walking, gondolas, and magical portals. But Goddess Hollow is like a city set out of time, probably reflective of 1920s London, so as the world modernized around them, Goddess Hollow seems to do so at a much slower pace, probably due to their isolation. So they have things that existed in the 1920s, like old telephones, electric lights, radios, gramophones, old folding cameras, even toasters. They might have guns too. I mean they did exist in the 1920s.
But naturally, they wouldn't have the modern technologies of the world, like computers, mobile phones, robotics, A.I, internet, etc. They may or may not have simple televisions, which did exist in the 1920s, but weren't widely available yet. But, to keep it really simple, you could basically think of Goddess Hollow as like the wizarding world in Harry Potter right? Why send an email or a text when you can send an owl instead? lol It's much more aesthetic and thematic to their universe. So yeah, as long as it isn't anything too modern, we can probably just hand wave it away.
