This should explain how summoning works (hope it makes sense):

Ars Invocato involves a link between the Invoker and the summoned being. Invokers use their abilities to open gates to other realms and ‘call’ upon beings that they are compatible with.

Say, for example, an invoker wanted to summon something simple like a falcon. He or she would basically search the realms for a falcon that was compatible and 'mind link’ with the falcon. The falcon could then be called through a gate to the invoker’s location. A weak or severed link would result in a failed summon and the falcon won't come. In order to have a strong link, an invoker must have solid knowledge about the being they are summoning.

Invokers can eventually advance to a level where they can manifest creatures from their imaginations. This requires perfect knowledge of the being that is summoned. It is extremely difficult at first, as it is nearly impossible to have a connection with something that doesn't exist outside of the invoker's mind. As the ability is practiced and the invoker's powers grow, summoning becomes easier and even more complex.

Also, here is a CS to get ideas started. The final one may be a bit different:

Welcome to L'Mordryn Academy

For a student of the art of Ars Invocato, the invoking technique, the journey through this magical academy is both challenging and intriguing. Students train to become Invokers, who have the ability to call upon beings from other realms. More advanced invokers can manifest beings from their imaginations.

L'Mordryn's student body is divided into four houses based on the beings that the students specialize in invoking: House Phantasma, House Machina, House Bestia, and House Dracona.

House Phantasma maintains an aura of mysticism among its members. Curious and whimsical, they are often engrossed in their studies of the spiritual world. Specialties in this house range from angels and specters to demons and elementals. Though some members seem flighty at times, others carry an aura of darkness.

The members of House Machina are placid and reserved. These straight-laced invokers are the quintessential nerds of L'Mordryn. Analytical, logical, and precise, this house embraces technology over all. Machines and tech of all kinds are studied here including old-world (steampunk), new-world (cyberpunk), and outer-world (alien tech).

House Bestia is home to the unruly bunch of L'Mordryn. Savage and untamed, these students are truly fit to invoke creatures of the animal world. From beasts that swarm the oceans and roam the tundras to beasts that rule the skies and dominate the plains, House Bestia has all areas covered. Though they may appear uncivilized, the members of House Bestia are fun-loving, outspoken, and always in search of a good time.

House Dracona carries an air of refinery and sophistication. Members of this house are extremely arrogant and believe very strongly that they are the house above all. This attitude is not unwarranted, however, as they specialize in invoking dragons, which are quite rare and difficult to work with. It takes a special talent to invoke these creatures, and these students have no shortage of skill nor smarts. They specialize in several different types including wyverns, hydras, basilisks, (standard) dragons, drakes, and wyrms.

Each house has several mentors who teach the students in small scheduled group sessions. When students are not in a session, he or she is free to study and train. Students enter the academy at age fifteen at Tyro level. After a year, students are then able to advance in level to Adept, then to Virtuoso, and, finally, to Master. Each level is split into two tiers based on a student's ability: tier 1 is regular while tier 2 is for advanced students. Students are given regular evaluations and exams to monitor their progress.

In-game, we will be students that are either Adept or Virtuoso level. Starting out, you will be free to play as you wish (rigorous study to level/tier up, create trouble for mentors while barely maintaining acceptable grades, train to become battle experts, build relationships, etc.). There will be two-character limit; they can be in different houses.

Feel free to ask any questions...this is just me laying the groundwork...details are being ironed out

Well first of all, thank you for visiting my thread! I'm a casual/high casual player with tons of RP ideas that I hope people will like. Instead of throwing out a ton of threads, I'll just put ‘em all here! Lemme know what you think!

A couple of my ideas are already out there:

Sci-fi / Alien invasion RP
I actually don't yet have an official title for this, but it's based on a fictional planet that I created. It's a futuristic setting with technology in abundance and several alien races occupying the world. The planet, Gsebria, is invaded by a hostile alien race looking to claim a ‘commodity’ which they believe is present there.

The Absolution Wars
A few centuries into the future, America's prison system has become extremely overcrowded. To remedy the situation, a contest is held every few years where inmates can win their freedom in a battle to the death.

Summoner's Academy RP
Students attend a school for learning Ars Invocato, the invoking technique. Invokers have the ability to call upon beings from other realms. More advanced invokers can manifest beings from their imaginations. The school is split into four houses based upon the types of beings in which the invokers specialize: beasts, machines, spirits, and dragons.

Variance
There are those in the world with powers, called Variants, and the world is struggling to figure out how to deal with them. The RP focuses on a group of Variants in the city of New Haven who have become vigilantes due to the rise in criminal activity.
(This would be a revamp of an RP I had a couple years ago.)

3N1GMA sat quietly observing the shenanigans of his fellow clanmates. His thoughts were neither here nor there as he twirled tendrils of magical energy around his fingers, a devious smirk on his face. Leon took the opportunity to explore a slightly sinister attitude while occupying the Universe in an attempt to mask his true demeanor in the real world; he figured it might make him a little harder to identify if it ever came to it. That being said, 3N1GMA could be quite wicked and ominous at times.

The battle had been easy enough...the Fists, though a formidable clan in their own right, aren't much of a match for the Lions. Brute force doesn't always win out, after all. Battle is an art and takes a certain finesse that people like the Fists seem to lack. The loot was plentiful in any case and 3N1GMA’s virtual pockets were stuffed.

He always found Naomi's alluring nature to be amusing whenever she used it to tease members of the clan...nothing like a little seductive mind game to liven things up. As the chatter continued within the group, 3N1GMA didn't decide to chime in until Freischutz made her comment about sheeple.

”Baa.”

He smirked and tossed a tiny spark of magical lighting toward her arm meant to be nothing more than a startling shock.

@Goldmarble
Looks great! Interesting little tank...I personally haven't seen a speed tank. Very cool.

Also, I changed up the ability section, which won't really affect the speed up ability, just adjust the format a bit.

And, I'm gonna assume the Personality section is a WIP...but if not, you skipped it ^_^
First post has been updated!
I was planning on having some form of reloading/supply stations scattered around the island

(Side note: I'm working out some of the overall details and should have them up soon)
