"A Scotsman, A Dwarf, And a Bastelian Walk Into A Bar-"

“I-I don’t know much! Just that we were followin’ orders! Soyala thinks that Lazhira is the one causing all this! I don’t know why, but we’re not gonna question a God if he says to do something, are we?!”

“A-all we really know is that if whatever is sealed in that old shrine breaks free, Dawn is going to be destroyed! We would have moved sooner, but...well, we didn’t want to make Akando our enemy - he could throw a wrench in our plans since well, he and Lazhira sort of grew up together somewhat...”

“I-I think I heard something about a key from the Old Man. Two, actually. One being hidden, and the other just...being in Dawn somewhere. I don’t know more than that.”

...Hell. This was not a very good situation as it was already, but to see the Hunters had been deployed on behalf of the Mad God in all of this twisted nonsense wasn't good at all. Soyala seemed to be an interesting figure from the sounds of it, likely a hunter if the catgirl was understanding the context correctly. At the same time, however, it was all suspicious and equally strange.

So the Old Man, one of the Illuminator's facets, told the Hunters about the keys. That was clear. Soyala was blaming Lazhira for it all, and was perhaps who had sent the Hunters to try for Lazhira then (potentially). That much was partly clear, the latter bit an attempted bit of reasoning out what had happened back there. Then Akando. A childhood friend of Lazhira, likely a Hunter, and not someone who would have gone along with whatever Soyala was spiking the Hunters minds with. But there was an inherent clash in these things and what she herself had been told...not to mention any tidbits the Illuminator was hiding or obscuring somehow still.

What she knew was that what lived underneath Dawn was something heinous, and the hunters knew this as well and were seeming to want to stop it. The Illuminator was too much of a dick, pardon her french, to want to see humanity destroyed or wiped out. Would ruin the dastard's fun. That much she felt could be trusted about the Mad God, as well as his desire to be entertained and his anger at herself and the other off-worlders, if nothing else. Soyala also was putting the Hunters at odds with each other from within with her idea alone, as if Akando wasn't going to be trying to get at Lazhira then it meant the Hunters weren't all going to be so united.

In other words, one thing stood out most. Soyala was thinking it was Lazhira who was causing all of this internal chaos, yet the Illuminator seemed to be just 'fond' (if the word applied) enough of the girl that he didn't seem to want her dead. Dividing the Hunters to slow their response time to things, as well as stirring the village up with stuff like an attempted kidnapping going on, it was the kind of situation a Goddess of Conflict seeking to escape would desire. A situation to prevent people from creating a united front, all to the ends of potentially wiping out humanity in her anger once she was released unless Delphiti or someone was able to get things to work out. The Bastelian had no idea what other factors were coming into this, much less had no chance to talk to so many people, but she had to run with what she knew.

As the goddess had told her...sometimes force was needed. And the root of things needed to be discovered and isolated sooner than later if the village and humanity were to survive.

"Considering were are all mortals here, following what a god says makes enough reasonable sense.

However, while you heard from the Old Man I have spoken to the Faceless One. He also told me of what he seeks, that being to avoid this village being destroyed due to the horror that lies sealed underneath this very village. But he never said any bit of Lazhira being a problem, in contrast to what Soyala has told you. In fact, I got these burns of my own playing a game of his back at that old temple, all just to learn that tidbit. Nearly drowned even.

In fact, Lazhira and others have spoken to the Hag, who seems to be contradicting what the Faceless One and Old Man have said entirely.

Would your god actively try to hamper his own plans and contradict himself 'that' badly? Hmm?

So believe me or not, I don't frankly care at this venture. Got what I brought you here for. I will be untying you, and leaving you to get some healing and care here if possible."

Would any of it work? No, likely not. But it sounded cool. This was a human Hunter who'd tried to kidnap Leannah's current favorite person from the New World, and she was a foreign Bastelian who had martial arts, with both of them worshipping different gods and being at odds from that alone. Much less everything else prior to this moment that had gone on.

After untying the Hunter, Leannah popped her head out of the test to speak to the Oni before-

"Oi Eirhild-- aye need yer help fer sumthin' lass!"
Some Loud Scotsman

Son of a pharaoh's mother's- it was him! And the sounds of someone else. And another someone else? And now a cart rolling along?!

She knew who that voice was from, and it was enough to get her to pop out of the tent in a hurry. The Bastelian's ears twitched in the direction of Donovan's voice, and she turned her head to the Oni. Without more than the needed formalities of speech, the catgirl would ask the Oni just outside the tent to bring a message to Lazhira and the others held up in Mie's tent. Not that she knew if they were all there, at least beyond Lazhira, but if Narkissa had followed at all then it would be beneficial to let her and the others know.

After sending the Oni with her message, that being that she was having to go grab something beyond the village 'back where we all began' (that bit might get Narkissa's notice, she hoped) and she'd be back by sometime tomorrow most likely. Maybe. Hopefully. Also added was a personal request to Lazhira and the others to 'be safe', and a promise of something cool being brought back if she found anything where she was heading. Lazhira would like that...right? She hoped.

Leannah would then bolt away, verbal message sent and attempting to 'catch up'. She would find herself too late to catch Donovan and the cart anywhere nearby, but with the path the older man had taken it wouldn't be too hard for her to follow the wagon tracks and such either. It would ultimately lead her back down a somewhat familiar path from only a few days ago in the end, tracked all the way back to a place she didn't think she'd be coming back to anytime soon...The Obelisk. The gateway that sealed off the path of the old lab Delphiti had made, which her creations had partly tried to seal her within, and which the Sage and Illuminator had sealed away by their pact.

Yup. Albeit the new context she had for the place wasn't exactly encouraging. But why here?

No matter.

Leannah tried to wave to Donovan and the strange, shorter person that was with him as she approached in the open. Of course she kept the calling out to him bit until she got as close as she felt she could...at least to try to minimize how much volume she needed. She didn't want a massive repeat of earlier...a-at least on purpose.

But who wouldn't get pissed when one's lovely and intelligent scholar of a host was nearly kidnapped in the middle of all the crazy things going on?!

"Donovan! Hey!"

The Bastelian would ultimately arrive at where the man was, hopefully, just as Donovan was done performing his meditation. Was another reason she tried to minimize the volume and get as close as she could to call out to the man. Albeit she would keep a close eye on the man's other companion in case she was intercepted. She was not initially sure if it was a dwarf, this world's version of a gnome, or some kind of strange pygmy to be frank. Likely a dwarf, given her at least basic knowledge of Earthen fantasy stereotype and first impression she got of the individual's equipment.

Or, well, she could be equally wrong. At this point she was not afraid to learn, though if it came with burning the other half of her body in the process she'd have to perhaps decline...

"To Infinity...and BEYOND!"

Apartment Hall (Hallway with Merry and Paralytic Gas)

It hurt. It hurt to tackle her ally like a crazed buffoon, as in literally and physically at least, but otherwise Wukong had no regrets. The sniper bullet whizzed overhead before an actual RPG flew in and was blown away before it blew the hell out of the ceiling above. It was enough to nearly forget the pain as Lilliah forced herself to get up on one knee below the windowstill. She turned to face the windowstill, but didn't dare poke her head up to try to fully stand...well, at least yet. There was another problem that came swooping in.

A sickly yellow mist permeated the area, and as soon as she felt the beginnings of the strange effects on her body and mind the panic tried to set in. No. She couldn't just pop her head up for the guns, but neither could she fiddle about here. Mere seconds would be all she and her ally had, and she had to-

'Zzap!'

Her ally's magic surged into her, perking her mind and body back up enough that it forced her back into focus as time seemed to slow for her in that brief flicker of a moment. Flight. She began to prepare the needed melody before she even heard the plan, perhaps not hearing much of anything Merry said in the first place, but when Valkyrie got onto her back to piggyback she didn't give her ally any more time to wait. No hesitation. No wait. No pause. Not a second longer. She immediately cast her melody the moment Merry was on her back, intending to send them barreling out of the window in rapid flight and aimed to careen over onto the precinct roof in a very literal crash course.

Would the idea work out? She hoped so. At least enough to get them out of the building and away from the damned mist!

If it didn't work out? Beuford, for all his love of firing rockets, would at least get to see a monkey and a girl shoot into the air like one in flight...doing so with all the grace of a five-day-old dead fish dropped from a plane and hurtling through the air toward their intended destination in some manner. Glorious. Simply glorious.

"Good Cat, Bad Cat"

Leannah allowed herself to follow along as Mie had a guard escort them back to a rather nice empty tent. A good read of the situation overall, though Leannah hadn't much thought about talking out loud as she had. No wonder the fox had been angry...might be Lazhira and anyone else in there too. Blargh. Howewver, she didn't have the luxury of time either. No time to fully rest, as already The Illuminator was making moves it seemed. Whether it was one part of the Frankenstein'd deity's psyche or another, as that was something else to suspect about the conflicting information he gave, or something else altogether was not the main focus at the moment.

Theorizing would continue, but right now she needed information. This guy was part of whoever was trying to get Lazhira back there, and she wanted to get answers and whatever else she could get. Since the man was already burnt and his leg was stomped on, she had ample reason to believe he wouldn't be moving. A little rope being used to secure him generally to the tent pole, however, was still something she'd do. Nothing tight or restrictive, but just enough that if someone tried to come grab him it wouldn't be easy.

Not that he would be anything but left behind at this point, but it helped to be precautionary.

"Alright! You seem to be in a hell of a state, I'm supposing the burns are from your attempted quarry back there?"

Leannah spoke to the man as she sat with her legs crossed a couple feet from him.

"You see, I never have been around other Bastelians. But we seem to have quite the reputation for savagery. As for me though? I only get savage when you mess with those I care some about.

So your leg back there? That was for trying to kidnap Lazhira."

The catgirl stared the pained hunter in the eyes, learning forward a little as she spoke. She did her best to put on the show of being utterly casual in the face of what she'd done to him so far, trying to play a bit more into that 'Bastelian savagery' slightly to try to put some fear into him. She even reached out a hand, turning the man's face to get a better look at his burns before roughly dropping her grip and letting his head fall back down.

"I'm sure it isn't the only pain you feel right now, but I believe we can be 'civil' about this. You and I. I might even be able to get you patched up. You see, I was raised by humans, so I am not a total savage....

...But it simply depends on what information you are able to give me, and if you can provide enough of it quickly enough to satiate my interests.

And indeed, I need something. I need to know everything you have heard and know about The Illuminator's plans for this village and Lazhira, and about your little cult of followers who adhere to him."

Using her other hand, Leannah gently drew her claws along the other side of the man's face, not hard enough to draw any blood or make scratched but enough to leave a light tingle along the man's skin that belied what those claws could do. She also had to pretend she knew some things, but assuming two of these guys were involved in a kidnapping it would not be hard to assume there were a number more who were adherents to the mad god's will around here.

"So will you tell me all you know? Or will we have to move on to the other leg first? Your choice~"

...Part of doing this made her feel phyiscally sick, but at the same time she had to swallow the tough pill in order to get what she needed. The villagers? She'd hoped to get to know them more in time, maybe, but the first thing in priority was the safety of those here and Lazhira. The goddess was right, sometimes force was needed. Even if she had to use the Bastelian stereotype as fodder for her interrogation right now, she'd do it. Things were developing to the extent she needed to be ready, and to be ready required information and action both. Not just one or the other.

That much she'd, most ironically, also learned back within the Illuminator's divine realm. Those trials tested her mind, but also her capability to navigate them through action.

"Tripitaka All Over Again...But Moere Bloodthirsty!"

Apartment Hall (Hallway with Viper and Merry)

”The opposition has hired some espers. Be on your guard, agents!”

A good warning, but one that perhaps came all too late for Lilliah (and Valkyrie by extension).

It was no small surprise when the staff-swinging esper suddenly had her target slammed back into her at force. A staggering blow that sent her reeling before the attempted assassin drew a cut along her right thigh and lacerated it. It was such a quick flurry of events it brought Lilliah to the point she'd have flopped onto the floor in the heat of it all, save for her taking a knee in reaction and using her staff to hold herself up somewhat as well.

The bang of her ally's weapons and thump from the roundhouse kick drew her eyes back to the battle immediately in turn, training and instincts kicking, though looking up just in time to see Viper blink to the other end of the hall. She could see the esper's heavy breathing, and lack of torso attire after that initial blows the monkey-like esper had performed, and it for a brief moment brought a small, satisfied smirk to her face. If the enemy was forced to retreat, at least, then it was worth it well enough.

That's what she got for-!

'Oh...'

That was the momentwhen the movement caught the female esper's attention, and time for that brief window seemed to slow to an utter crawl to her perception. Movement from across the street. One armored grenadier. One anti-mat rifle. One rocket launcher. All in the windows of the police station. All aimed in their direction.

'...Oh hell!!!'

Wukong used her staff and position to push herself forward into a running sprint, the pain instantly surging through her like molten iron through her lacerated thigh. She stumbled for a moment, but doing her best she forced herself to move forward as fast as her body could move. The pain to some extent was almost unbearable, but she couldn't waste time. She threw herself onto Merry with as much force as possible to try to knock them both down to the floor, casting a melody to affect her ally at the same time as she made any initial bodily contact with her. A touch-based spell. If it worked as intended, they'd be bowling down onto the floor due to Lilliah's tackle along with the melody now helping to protect her ally (hopefully) by the time they hit the ground.

Maybe they'd be able to get out of this in one piece? Maybe was perhaps the best hope for it all. That was the goal of her rushed plan anywho, working on her feet to try to keep an ally intact and maybe get them both in a semi-safe position. Not that taking an RPG to the face would be good though...

"Mess With Waifu, Lose Your Laifu 2: Electric Boogaloo"

Hunters. Well that made it simple to see who else was in on whatever the hell was going on, and who was part of whatever the hell The Illuminator was actually trying to do. The one guy had run away from Lazhira's house, that much was good, and there was no trouble remaining within the house itself as well. Good. But the idiot trying to cool his burns in the snow? He wasn't going to be so lucky. Wasn't hard to tell that if Lazhira was running away from her own home these idiots had something to do with it. She was going to oblige their foolishness as well with her own two hands, because the time for answers was here and she wasn't going to hold back on it.

Without stopping, Leannah walked over and grabbed the collar of the burned Hunter, stomping one one of his legs and then yanking him up like a ragdoll and pulling him up to her face. She then channeled all the malice she had into what she said next.

"You're coming with me, asshole. Try to resist, and I will break a limb for each attempt without hesitation. You try to mess with Lazhira or ally of mine again in any capacity or worse, you lose 'ability to walk' privileges for life. You will answer my questions once we get to my destination.

So be a good little follower for me, and be obedient."

From here, the Bastelian would begin to drag the hunter along with her in the direction of Mie's tent. If Lazhira and company were there, she wanted to bring along her prisoner for the ride. No idea where Narkissa was, but this was not something that could wait either. However, just in case...

"Narkissa! If you're around here, I'm headed this way! Have one of the assholes who tried to kidnap Lazhira in tow!"

She shouted aloud so, if Narkissa was at least around Lazhira's house, she'd be hopefully able to hear her. Leannah then continued her trip to head toward Mie's tent with the intent on finding Lazhira and co. Mostly to make sure they were ok, but also to bring a little souvenir along for the ride and for a nice and simple interrogation. If the prisoner tried to struggle she'd follow through with her threat of a limb for every escape attempt. Any attempt to harm Lazhira or co would be met with the promised punishment as well.

Was it cruel? Yes. But she was getting more pissed at the situation with each passing moment. It was time to get things moving.

Whenever she got to the tent guards, she's simply stop there out of respect and politeness before trying to call out into the tent to Lazhira. Let her know she was here and wanted to help...and see if she and anyone else in there was ok. Also that the Bastelian girl herself had a prisoner in tow. One who would have to answer for his actions, admittedly, but that would come sooner than later.

The Xandalian Republic

Sol System, Near Pluto and Kupiter Belt

"The Home's Defilement"

The fateful message from the Meeting Place was all it had taken to get the gears moving, and the Xandalians had already been readying their military forces for deployment. Yet whilst the nation's main plans were already in motion, this matter was something else that required action of the most immediate sort in their eyes. A portion of the readied military forces would be needed to take care of the new issue in this case, however, as the news that had come in not too long ago was urgent.

'Unidentified ships have entered the neutral Sol space and moved away from Earth, seemed to be some kind of work-related fleet instead of a military one. No introductions made, no contact made.'

No one nation had claims to the system of Sol, no matter how human or not they were. The Senate and Republic had agreed to this along with at least a number of the other emergent colonies and nations present in the system. As such, they would adhere to this neutrality being maintained...and enforce it on those who would hold themselves higher than the rest of humanity's far-flung children. No hesitation, just action and force that anyone in the right mind could understand. A fleet of twenty five ships, ranging from mech-and-corvette-laden carriers to a pair of two battleships, all equipped for war and ultimately directed to track down the illegal operations being performed in the Sol System without the consent or approval of those assembled at the Meeting Place.

Back at the Meeting Place, an announcement would be made prior to the small detachment's arrival. Nothing that could be heard well beyond the station, but something made using the local announcement system installed into the Meeting Place itself. The same room Christensen had, frankly, nearly been shot in some time prior.

"Attention, respected ambassadors, envoys, and other representatives of the Meeting Place who have been here or have just arrived for the first time. I am Envoy Valeris, one of the diplomatic staff sent to represent the People and Senate of the Xandalian Republic. I would wish to send greetings to any new nations or former human colonies who have arrived, and invite their representatives to speak with us and the other nations upon this station.

However, this is far from all the news I wish to bring to the attention of all. From the Central Announcement Room I bring far more grave news.

As agreed upon by those assembled here, the Sol System has remained a neutral ground. Yet another new arrival has disregarded these protocols, sending in a potential mining or processing fleet according to the Republic's initial observations from this very station. These new contact have not even made contact with the Meeting Place or those assembled here, and have ignored the neutrality of this system that was once Humanity's cradle by gunning for areas farther out in the Sol System without a word.

Therefore, in the interest of being a responsible member of the international community here and to inform others here ahead of time, the Xandalian Republic is sending in a military detachment to deal with the illegal interlopers. Any who wish to assist are invited to come along, as it is the sovereign right of those nations assembled here at the Meeting Place to maintain the neutrality of this system.

If we have misunderstood the international agreement about these matters, either actively or silently as it has been agreed about the matter, then we invite others to come help explain the matter to us that we may all solidify something about the matter. Further, a live read on the incoming Xandalian Fleet's location in Sol System space will be provided to all nations with a current embassy built onto this station as a means to ensure our sincerity in these matters. Any captured interloper forces, should they choose to surrender, will be returned to this station for judgement by the international community.

After dealing with the interloper forces, and dropping off any international prisoners for temporary holding in the Xandalian Embassy area, the Xandalian fleet will be returning back to Xandalian Space promptly after. Access to any potential prisoners will be made free to the nations here, should any prisoners be acquired, though the Xandalian Republic shall provide security in such a case.

Any issues, questions, or problems that might be had I shall direct to the Xandalian Embassy itself, where discussion over the matter may be initiated and proper discourse can ensue.

Thank You."

Some time later, the twenty-five-strong space fleet would emerge. Gleaming hulls and deployed energy shields and so forth would be visible from the very station itself. And it was a 'small' detachment by Xandalian standards. Even a couple squads of mechs seemed to hover near a couple of the carriers sent over, sleek and shining and yet wielding various weapons made for war. The arrival was not itself an active or purposeful attempt to intimidate or impress others...but hell if it didn't have the potential to make an impression at least.

From here the fleet would rapidly zip away from the husk of Earth and the Meeting Place, leaving it behind as they moved deeper into the former home system of humanity. Past the other planets they would move, scanners looking about the dark expanse of space until by the time they reached the Kupiter Belt they found their prey. And like vultures or mighty birds of prey they would descend wiuthout hesitation and without mercy. None who would ignore everyone else, who would seek to strip and mine the Sol System itself for their own gain without a word, would be allowed to remain without punishment or consequence. An example would be made....and had to be made. If not by them, then by another nation.

The Carriers would deploy smaller ships and mechs, of which came down like innumerable locusts to begin the task of shooting down anything the interlopers had deployed there in the Kupiter Belt and Beyond. The Xandalian Fleet would be making a sweep from the Kupiter Belt all the way to and including Pluto, hunting down anything that they saw mining or processing the Sol System without a care. This, all whilst larger spaceship weapons would be aimed at any larger craft with the intent to cripple them for capture if or where possible along the way. A clean, detailed sweep. The first blitzkrieg the Sol System had seen in hundreds of years, potentially at least, to put those who ignored the rest of the world about them into their rightful place...underneath the international boot heel.

But why so vicious an action? Why do these things? It all would come down to the very mindset of the Xandalian Republic itself. A state that upheld the will of its people and safety and security at any cost, and a state that saw pride in their people and in their growth and in humanity's expansion across the stars. A state too that sought to cooperate with the international community and be a proper part of it, and would seek to be a good citizens in enough of a sense at least, but would exercise their own independent sovereignty and rights.

To all of these ends, for what sense it would all make, the Xandalians would not take the slight against the rights of all the former colonies of humanity's past to the Sol System by having some group decide they didn't want to talk. That they didn't want to listen. It was a breach of what the Republic understood as something the international community had agreed on, for what it had been built up as thus far at least. It was outrageous!

Those that didn't care to check the room, all before they threw themselves into doing things that some might take offense to at the very least, would be disciplined and held accountable for their actions.

"Mess With Waifu, Lose Your Laifu"

The commotion was enough to rouse the sleeping Bastelian from her slumber, even as her mind had been dreaming over the words the goddess had told her. Adrenaline surged into the feline-like humanoid's body as her eyes shot open, pushing out what initial tiredness or grogginess might have been there in favor of emergency energy in a pinch. Without a word the catgirl moved off of the bed she was lying on, leaping to her feet and landing on both of them rather well. Yet her mind did not have time to ponder a proper if it was because she was catlike, or if it was the martial arts, or a bit of both. Her mind and body were in a pure 'fight or flight' style response.

And this was a full-on 'fight' response.

No punches pulled, and no mind to sit about doing nothing. The goddess' words returned to her mind, even as she darted to get into the next room to deal with whatever trouble had come knocking. Well, if any of said trouble was still in the house at this venture. And indeed, the catgirl's own feelings on the matter were settled enough as it was despite the heat of the moment.

There is likely information you do not have, for he keeps information close to his chest. Seek what you are missing. I can not know what it is, but there is likely some discrepancy in what you have been told. Do not be soft, either. Sometimes force must be used to understand a situation.
Birb

'Force, eh? Not my first idea at least, but that's one thing I can definitely work with right now!'

Fight. Punch. Kick. Hit dirty spots. Utilize the enemy's force against them. Snap limbs and twist them horribly. All of it and more from her old life was as clear in her mind, and as much as possible in her body thus far, even as clear as the purest crystal. And then some. She'd beat the hell out of whatever cultist asshole stood in her path! Then she'd get the information she needed by force!

Discrepancies in the info she'd been told. Him hiding information in this whole thing. The suspicious clash between what Narkissa and company had been asked to do, and what she'd been told by the god himself. that would have to come as she worked on her feet, or if she could get Lazhira and company aside. Narkissa was right about one thing now, as indeed she needed to talk and they needed to get things communicated. Fast. Especially if this was the part of the whole shebang where things went to hell and everyone was running about. Maybe.

She hoped it wasn't that far along, but that was not the most important thing to worry about if it was. She couldn't be soft with such a thing, or fumble about in worry and indecision. If her body was a weapon, she needed to apply it to that sort of situation now more than ever.

...Though next time she didn't need to pray to a goddess before fulfilling that little divine request made of her. Yeah, not something her tired mind had thought of before.

"It's Monke Time!"

Apartment Roof - to - Merry's Location (Hallway with Viper)

Her arrival on the roof seemed timely enough, but right below a hail of gunfire erupted. Lilliah spun around as she watched the scene from her position, seeing the tear gas grenade and the bullets fly in like hail. Military grade stuff. Grenade launcher, machine gun suppressing fire, and then all of a sudden the flash of a shot from her ally and then smoke emanating from below as the hail of bullets stopped. Was the enemy retreating farther in? Crap. But her ally had seemingly still driven them back somewhat, thought it reeked of suspiciousness, and instead of hopping down that sketchy fire escape the staff-wielder decided that it would be wiser to go in ASAP to check on her teammate. It was better safe than sorry in this case, though the temptation to sneak in from up top to find a good spot from the apartment to look from was outweighed by the feeling she needed to check in on things more directly.

Swinging down into the hole in the building below her and using her momentum to break into a full sprint into the hallway, it only took Lilliah glimpsing a second figure grabbing Valkyrie's gun from behind that the simian-like esper didn't skip a beat. She sent herself flying at the assailant's exposed back, and cast a particular melody for once she made contact. Top speed, and a swift strike with a touch-based spell into the target's mid-back would count as the 'touch' needed, right? Though if her ally's moves had any success, she'd be hitting Viper from behind as Valkyrie sent them flying Wukong's way anywho. Regardless, Wukong's aim was to strike Viper no matter how things were, hoping that her melody would be able to restrain the foe for a moment at least if not more so.

Enough for her to follow up with more strikes from her staff at the very least, she hoped.

Yet Wukong had no idea of her ally's attempted actions, simply reacting to the situation with immediate action on her own part to try to assist a teammate. No thought of being caught in the crossfire, no thought of if her ally could free herself or would start firing in the enemy/Wukong's own direction, etc. Even so, at the back of her mind the younger woman wondered just how a bunch of thugs could get such higher-grade equipment? And how in the world was there some sneaky assassin skulking around for them? Sure in this city there were always surprises, but once this mission was completed she had a number of questions that hopefully would be able to be answered. Maybe.

For now, it was just the job and trying to help an ally not outright die that mattered. Also herself not dying would be great as well.

"Fable Doesn't Get To Be The Only One With Subtext Under Their Header!"

Fashionably Late To The Police Station

Why was she one of the only ones usually left behind to drive off the monsters?

Why did her esper form have the peculiar yet incessant mental side effect of making her feel like an excited monkey swinging in the trees?

Why did she suddenly have a craving for peaches?

Too many silly questions to ponder in the grand scheme of things otherwise, but there was no time to think about them in all honesty. She channeled all of her focus into blitzing toward the site of the mission, to catch up with the rest of the agents and get to work. Well, and the Freelancers. The briefing had made things crystal clear...if not herself ever so slightly more empathetic toward Binky. Yet a pincer movement, hitting the enemy from both sides and crushing them in like a trash compactor, felt fitting if not reminiscent of something. One of the older movies she'd seen at the base, perhaps? She knew it was something one of the staff had lent her a few weeks ago to watch after geeking out about it to her during casual conversation.

All the same, however, each role in this sort of thing had its purpose. So driving off the monsters wasn't a terrible lot, but it was an important one to ensure the mission went off as simply as possible. Couldn't have something coming out of the shadows and rushing the prison amidst all the excitement there. To that end she had performed her first role, and wanted to get in on the action as soon as she could with the rest of her allies. She didn't want to leave them alone to-

”We’re trying to preserve the police station. Was that part of the briefing too difficult to understand, Leroux?”

”Mind your melodies, agent. You’re not a freelancer.”
The Chief Abuser Of Binky's

Aaaaand things were beginning to really get messy, weren't they? Crap. But she was just coming around the corner where she'd be able to see the station now. It was a small thing she was thankful for, but seeing Valkyrie zipping up the wall from a gaping hole on the second floor as she approached the younger agent decided to follow. If nothing else to help try to support her ally whilst keeping an eye out on things as she herself approached. There was no sense in getting shot if she could help it.

Though if there was one thing she actually knew about a cornered animal, even in a basic sense and from various sources, it was that it made it even more dangerous than it already was. Far more, depending on the snake.

Lilliah's magic surged as she cast a melody as she closed in on the building, and with a surge of wind she flew up into the air with the intent of getting up to the building's roof near Valkyrie's location. At least before the melody began to wear off, she hoped. From there she could swing down in through a window or something, but getting up there was her first main matter of concern. Secondary to that was the ever-present goal of 'not getting shot'.

I've really gotten addicted to watching Gundam Build Fighters and Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans that I really want to make Mobile Suits...
