Current just finished The Hydrogen Sonata, and half-thinking about doing an interest check for a Culture/Special Circumstances RP (but only half, because I'm definitely not an Iain Banks-quality writer)

Going to be out of town from tomorrow until Tuesday--I'll be in and out of service, but I almost certainly won't be making any posts.

@Digmata, that sounds like Investigate to me. I'll give you a good bit of detail here--you played The World--but what question do you want me to focus on?
@Digmata honestly one of the better spreads you could have gotten lol

@Guardian Angel Haruki i didn't see the metatextual angle of Scheherazade coming, but that's very fun

also, both of you, make sure that you're recording both the maturity and the affinity on your ties. everything should be set to 1 at the moment since you just formed those ties, but when your ties change, your maturity and affinity will increase. both are important because maturity gets cashed out as experience, and affinity can be used to supplement draws that use your weaker stats.

The rulebook recommends you write them like this, but as long as you record both maturity and affinity I don't mind if you do it differently:

(Maturity) Bond description to Person (Affinity)

So for example:

1 Diana takes charge when there's a crisis 1
She looks around the cafe, and she whispers to the group, "I have an idea. Hopefully this can give us more time and room to prepare, and get innocent bystanders out of the way. Just stay quiet..."

She proceeds to uncap the fountain pen, and the self-writing journal stops. She takes the point to the pages, and proceeds to write...

"In this quiet moment within Mario's, Head Waitress Diana feels the creeping sensation of danger lurking outside. Her intuition warns her not to ignore her senses. In order to heed this warning, she knows that she needs to close Mario's early and as quickly as possible. As she does so, she remains oblivious to the presence of Emily Sanderson, Ashley Whitlock, Luka Durand, and the Crow."

Emily then caps the pen again, and she watches as faint light dances across the words she just wrote before continuing to write on its own.

She looks up and watches to see if her idea works, biting at her own thumbnail nervously. She knew it sounded crazy on the surface, but she felt as though her writing would actually work to influence things in their favor...

Temperance - Neutral - You are met with an equal and opposite reaction

Emily, you don't have to wait long to see the results. Diana was already standing behind the counter and looking out at the street, enjoying a rare moment of quiet to people-watch the early morning crowd. Her calm, contemplative expression tightens up by degrees, starting at the her eyebrows working its way down to her jaw. She's an older woman--a career waitress, who has worked in New York City since she in her twenties. She has learned over the years to trust her intuition when it tells her there's danger nearby. Closing the restaurant isn't technically her call, and she'll probably catch hell for it, but she's a fundamentally decent person, and it's not like it'll be the first time she's been fired. Still, she knows that the rest of the staff probably won't have her confidence...

"Gas leak!" Her voice rings out over the murmur of conversation, and just about everyone in the restaurant turns to look at her. "Everyone, you need to leave! There's a gas leak!" She starts herding her fellow waitstaff out from behind the counter, to the point where she almost shoves a young woman half her age into the lobby. "You two, get the customers out! I'll check back of house!" Diana squares her shoulders and marches into the kitchen; distantly, you can hear her animated conversation with the line cooks. At the same time, a middle-aged waiter and the young woman Diana had manhandled from behind the counter follow her instructions with equal levels of confusion and alacrity. You can tell that within a couple of minutes, the restaurant will be empty of everyone except your party. As they evacuate, neither the staff nor the patrons pay any attention to your party; it is as if they have forgotten you are in the restaurant.

However, you do not remain unaffected. You feel the psychic feedback as a rippling sensation running down your arm from your Eidolon, and when it reaches your head, you are filled with the same sense of danger and foreboding you inflicted in the waitress. You're distracted by the sudden urge to flee with everyone else; take -1 forward.

@Guardian Angel Haruki Good deal, I'll write something up in just a bit!

@Digmata Ope, you're right >> hope you don't mind me giving you the next three cards off the pile. Your GEN is 3, so your Ready For Anything cards this uptime are:

The Fool - Neutral - You become who you are needed to be in this moment
The Hermit - Neutral - Your actions isolate you
The World - Positive - For a single moment, the world bends to your will
@Guardian Angel Haruki No roll necessary--I have a real, physical tarot deck here and through it I can push my mastery of that I'll draw the cards from, and you pick from the draw.

Your ELE is 2, so you get:

The Moon - Negative - Something unknown or unknowable interferes
Temperance - Neutral - You are met with an equal and opposite reaction
@Guardian Angel Haruki, bond looks good!

I'm down with your in-character actions too, but Pick Locks, Hack Consoles isn't the right move for this--you're kind of trying to do the opposite lol. Let's call this a Challenge Fate: ELE? It'll be the same draw, you'll just use the forecast from the card you pick instead of the ones from Pick Locks, Hack Consoles.
@Digmata, your tie with Luka is great!

As for the second one, your ties need to be with a specific other person, not with yourself. fwiw, I also think this is sort of covered by your existing tie with Mr. Whitlock--if you want to change something to reflect a stronger feeling about the situation I wouldn't be opposed to you upgrading that tie to level 2, maybe with something like "Mr Whitlock is /not/ my father", but that's up to you *and I'm open to other suggestions.
My Eidolon, Auld Lang Syne, is a real, physical New Year's Ball, and through it, I can push my mastery of good cheer beyond physical limits, allowing me to wish you all a happy new year!
@ctrlsaltdel Out of curiosity, and to double check, would the eidolon abilities be working now?

yep, feel free to let them rip whenever you're ready
man, i wish a problem customer would have waved a big wad of cash at me when I worked foodservice
