Ability: Atmokinesis: Nyssa will demonstrate a plethora of abilities over time, most of which are facets of her power to manipulate the weather. Nyssa possesses the psionic ability to control all forms of Weather Manipulation. She can modify the temperature of the environment, control all forms of precipitation, humidity and moisture, generate lightning and other electromagnetic atmospheric phenomena, and has demonstrated excellent control over atmospheric pressure. She can incite all forms of meteorological tempests, such as tornadoes, thunderstorms, blizzards, and hurricanes, as well as mist. She can dissipate such weather to form clear skies as well.
Her precise control over the atmosphere allows her to create special weather effects. She can create precipitation at higher or lower altitudes than normal, make whirlwinds travel pointing lengthwise in any direction, channel ambient electromagnetism through her body to generate electric blasts, flash freeze objects and people, coalesce atmospheric pollutants into acid rain or toxic fog, and, along with her natural ability of flight, summon wind currents strong enough to support her weight to elevate herself (or others) to fly at high altitudes and speeds.
She will also demonstrate the ability to control natural forces that include storms, solar wind, ocean currents, and electromagnetic energy. Nyssa has been shown to be sensitive to the dynamics of the natural world, and her psionic powers over weather are affected by her emotions. hence, if she chooses to or she does not maintain control, a fit of rage might induce a destructive storm. Her power can be limited by the force of her will and the strength of her body while in the Astral Plane, Nyssa's powers are useless as they exist in her body, not her spiritual essence.
Background: Nyssa Devout was born and raised in the U.S. She is the eldest of two siblings having a younger brother, her mixed heritage coming from having an African American mother and a Caucasian father who had met via a mutual friend. Nyssa would spend the early years of her life being raised by her mother or babysitters while her father did periodic visits as he remained in the states starting up Astraea Corporation, A private paramilitary and security organisation. Nyssa had quite the protected life, because of this she struggled to adjust and make friends in her younger years.
Despite all this, Nyssa had a pretty amazing upbringing with a pair of hard working but very loving parents, after all the success of her father’s company meant they were among the wealthy and upper class of society, getting pretty much whatever she wanted. Nyssa did pretty well in her education pushing herself hard and performed well in sports where she could as she was quite the active and engaging type. Nyssa became a little rebellious in her teenage years, it was not easy being the daughter of a well-known man, both her parents helping to sort out and channel her aggression once when she got into a fight with one of her long-time friends, she also became very protective of her new younger brother which may of helped Nyssa change her course for the better.
Nyssa had it all planned out, she wanted to build on her own independence and tried mixing education and eventually once old enough with work to earn her way and not get hand offs from her parent’s, which to be fair made them proud. Unfortunately, all that planning took a dent when she got laid off from her job. Nyssa took it on her chin and decided to drop out of college to concentrate on working all in on the family business of Astraea. Of which extended its reach into Europe and Asia along with over $10 billion of taxpayer's money in US government contracts to its name.
She was always thankful of the time she spends with her family, now understanding the sacrifices her parents made as she to, balances spending time with her younger brother and the family business. Nyssa would often be spending quite a bit of time with her father at a shooting range, with him teaching her how to use a gun properly, she wasn’t initially good at it but got much better over time, but the bonding time she got with her father made it absolutely worth it, as he was intending to hand over the reins of the company to her one day. Nyssa is responsible for expanding Astraea into domestic operations and humanitarian work.
One day a few months back, the energy storm struck across several major cities, Nyssa herself managed to get away with it relatively unharmed, only being in a minor traffic incident before taking shelter with her brother until the storms stopped. Over the next couple of weeks Nyssa immediately set up humanitarian aid efforts when she became suddenly ill and collapsing on the floor as she came down with the energy plague, it was a horrific feeling. Something she had never experienced in her life before as she was very quickly hospitalized, her parents were eventually notified as doctors doing everything they could do with so many becoming infected. It felt excruciating as she was hospitalized for the best part of a month before she began to show signs of recovery.
Despite baffling the doctors and with a week of observations Nyssa was able to go home, and the following week she began showing signs of powers, learning that now she is an altered human. However, Nyssa did not let this change her ways and against her fathers better judgment through fear of coming down ill again, she pushed on with humanitarian aid efforts once more while working on her new found abilities away from the public eye where she could. More often than not Nyssa would still be working in the ever changing climate. Her father is still intending to have Nyssa to take control of the company one day as her morals still seem to be in the right place, even if he won’t admit that he is shit scared of what his daughter could be capable of.

Ability: Pyrokinesis: Sarina can control the kinetic energy of atoms to generate, control/manipulate fire Allowing her to excite or speed up an object's atoms, increasing their thermal energy until they ignite, not necessarily objects, but also air particles, she can control and move the flames, along with fireproof skin and thermal resistance something that is a life saver. This also allows Sarina to illuminate a dark area. Over time, Sarina will learn amazing abilities.
Fire Ball Projection which is the ability to create and manipulate fireballs in her hands and throw them, Fire Stream Projection will enable Sarina to generate or create flame thrower-like blasts of flames that can go up to long ranges. They can burn things with intense engulfing flames but sadly there is no telling if Sarina will be able to control the size and radius of her blasts initially. Fire Breath is the ability to manipulate the fire in her lungs and exhaling to spew a torrent of fire. Fortunately, Sarina has thermal resistance in her throat and mouth which is something she has not yet discovered because now she can only use her hands.
Sarina will be able to understand and control her gift enough for Pyrokinetic combat in the form of Fire Shield Construction which will allow her to create a shield out of the fire to defend/protect herself from harmful, melee and even offer minimal resistance to cold attacks. On the more offensive side, through concentration, Sarina can create a sword of fire that not only does physical damage like an actual sword would, but also can burn them severely.
One day Sarina will be able to use one of the her most amazing but dangerous powers. Conflagration, also known as rain of fire, is where Sarina can Summon a Rain of Fire within a large area within her vicinity capable of intense temperatures, burning or even possibly incinerating any objects nearby. It is an Area of effect type of ability and one that is one of Sarina's most powerful abilities. If there is one thing Sarina won't always admit is her fear of what she might capable of, weather it is her being in control or loss of it. And with good reason.
Background: A third-generation native to Klamath Falls, Sarina is one of 6 siblings, four brothers and one other sister within the De Santa family. the last name itself carrying quite a positive reputation around the town and putting quite a bit of pressure on herself and her siblings as they grew up, expected to be perfect children. Sarina was a very active, difficult child from the moment she could stand on her own two feet. Although some would have reservations about having so many siblings, Sarina was over the moon to have others she could look out for and take care of if needed.
As Sarina entered into her teen years, her knack for getting into trouble only increased and seemed to even get more dangerous for her. This streak in her, of course caused many fights within her family as she had a name and reputation to hold up but Sarina just couldn't find it in herself to care enough to quit having her fun. Seeing their sister constantly in trouble confused her other siblings greatly, which hurt Sarina in the special place of her heart reserved for them, but she didn't dare show it - not if she wanted to keep her own "bad girl" persona up. Her family had one reputation to keep, and she had another.
It was also during these years that Sarina met a set of twins, Alexander and Jessica. Being the same age she was, Sarina got along quite well with Jessica and the two eventually became the best of friends. But what Sarina hadn't counted on was developing strong feelings for Jessica's brother, Alexander, who also seemed to have a knack for trouble. The two of them hooked up on occasion without telling anyone, knowing that it would put a strain on her friendship with Jessica, And it did. Sarina and Alexander were quite the pair when they began to hang out with each other more openly, what was considered petty crimes turned into much larger ones - starting fights, street racing, tagging and even thievery. It seemed to be so easy until the small handful of times they got caught, Sarina took all the blame for it for him.
This was when Sarina learned of his true colours, he used her to take all the blame and then take off with some other woman in a group, she was of course now the black sheep of her family, ever barely speaking to them anymore because of her decisions so far in life. It was enough of a traumatic experience for Sarina to want to start getting her life back on track and make something out of it. Sarina eventually landed herself as a confidential informant to work off her charges, struggling and trying to make ends meet. After a few years she got tired of seeing her best efforts turned to nothing by the same people paying her to do the job. So she puts her skills to action as a private driver for hire and moved to California.
This would turn out to be another big mistake on her part, not long moving over the energy storm hit, much of her apartment where she was living had been Severely damaged and could only count herself lucky it did not kill her. Sarina of course was injured but able to move, everything around just seem to move in blur to her, all she could remember was fires and the cries for help as literally everything changed within those 24 hours. Not long after Sarina was hospitalized not just from her injuries but she also came down with this ‘energy sickness’. Within a few weeks Sarina had started to exhibit pyro-kinetic abilities and was contacted by liberty to join their organisation with some rather amazing benefits, she accepted believing her ability to do seemingly impossible driving maneuvers was a factor, but it’s more than likely for her altered abilities. Liberty in return for her joining made her a specialised suit.
Sarina's suit is a dual weave suit, made of Kevlar and a newly developed modacrylic, making the suit resistant to fire and the intense heat she gives off when using her powers as well as resistant to knives and small caliber weapons. When Sarina uses her powers the excess heat she gives off is absorbed by her suit to keep anyone nearby out of harms way. The modacrylic in her suit, having the higher absorption rate, gives off a glow while she uses her powers Making it extremely hot, It is not recommended for others to touch. In the event that the suit becomes to hot the small diamond plate on her chest is connected to a rapid cooling system integrated through out the suit that expels the excess heat as steam which could be used as a smokescreen to make an escape.

Ability: Ferromagnetism: Sofija can magnetize metal and can create/manipulate magnetic fields making her able to manipulate non-magnetic and magnetic objects, causing them to attract or repel each other. She can use it to halt bullets in mid-air and launch them, cause several cars to move and group together, manipulate the pedals of a car to make it move on its own for a few examples. Her abilities also work against humans who wear metal or other objects she could magnetize, which allowed her to repeatedly shove a security officer against a dumpster, drag several officers across the ground by pulling on their guns. In the beginning, the size, weight, and distance of her targets will limit Sofija's effectiveness with her powers, However, as time will progress, Sofija's abilities will grow stronger, extending her distance and the amount of metal she could manipulate to a point where she would able to pull a jet out of the sky and bring it crashing down, displaying the degree of power she potentially wields.
- Ferromagnetic Sense: Sofija is also able to sense the presence of metals around her.
- Ferromagnetic Levitation: Since becoming Altered, Sofija has been wearing steel-toe boots, metallic bracelets, and various metals within her outfits allowing her to levitate if she choses to.
Electromagnetism: Sofija can create and use magnetic fields to manipulate electrical currents, allowing her some control over electrical appliances. She has used this ability to cause lights to turn off or even blow out, shut down vehicles using an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) and reverse the electrical current of a Taser to the individual who was holding it.
- Electromagnetic Sense: Just as she can detect metal; Sofija can feel surrounding electrical currents. She can also sometimes vaguely sense when people or animals are in the same general area, due to sensing the trace metal content in their bones and electromagnetic pulses in their nervous systems.
- Radio Frequency Distortion: Sofija could block cell and walkie-talkie frequencies using her abilities.
Background: Sofija was born overseas in Europe, more specifically Latvia where she would spend the early years of her childhood. Initially being raised by her mother while her father did periodic visits, her father was an American who is a business man who had a prolonged trip to Latvia at the time, her father would often spend time travelling to Europe and over time fell in love her mother Anna. A couple of years later Sofija was born. Both herself and her mother remained in their native homeland, during that time she suffered from asthma but often enjoyed watching movies and sports. When Sofia reached the age of eight years of age, herself and her mother moved over to the states to be together as a whole family unit.
Her new life in the U.S was okay, but she got bullied a lot at school so the family decided to move away from Miami, Florida. she was doing good in her education, performing well and worked hard. She refused to let her Asthma hold her back, still she had to be careful. As time went on, the young girl would go on to be enrolled into the girl scouts for a while. It was not long before her teenage years that the first evidence of Sofija's Asthma had finally subsided and gone. she took a 'tough girl' persona as a defensive at tool to keep strangers she was weary of and bullies at a safe distance, although she was getting into the habit of starting some of them herself, but at least she didn’t really get picked on no more.
In the latter half of her teenage years, Sofija wanted to join the navy but she was only 17 at the time and her parents would not give her permission, although it upset her, she continued on in her education and managed to get a diploma in information technology. Sofija did get a couple of part time jobs until she reached the age of 19 where without the need for a consent from her parents she joined their ranks where she would go through basic training lasting the best part of eight weeks. It was a tough and gruelling time that often felt like it took forever, but was so totally worth it as once she had passed, she spent the following weekend on Liberty before getting her assignment.
Sofija was assigned to the USS Sampson, becoming an information systems technician on board the ship. During her time aboard the ship, Sofija would partake in several festivals, exercises and other celebrations but did have deployments in western pacific and middle east regions as tensions raised throughout the world. The ship was on its way back from deployment around the time the energy storm hit the united states, she was running just of the coast at the time. The ship closed in further to the coast, maybe a little to close as the confusion of reports and maydays where flooding the airwaves as the ship could see first-hand what was happening.
The Sampson was then surprisingly hit by a bolt from the energy storm Causing initial damage to the ship as the vessel began trying to pull away and get some distance. It was to no avail as the ship took a second and more destructive blast, Causing a massive explosion at the front of the ship, many had died and it was difficult for Sofija and any others fortunate enough to not get caught in the blast to abandon ship, unfortunately barely a third of the crew manage to escape the sinking ship. It appeared some smaller civilian boats had saw the destruction and came to do what they could to get the sailors out of the water. After being brought back to land Sofija was mentally and physically beat, she was put on shore leave after the incident, awaiting hopefully for her next assignment.
She soon caught the energy sickness that was plaguing the country and was out of action with her illness for several weeks before she could make a recovery, she grew increasingly frustrated as this also extended her shore leave and delaying her deployment. She used this time to spend it with her family and meeting up with her friends, trying to get some normalcy, like that would ever happen. She started sensing things, like objects and people, it was all confusing, overwhelming as she couldn't understand it, but when she had an argument over something she accidently EMP’d the block she was in, literally everything in the building just turned of. She knew this was bad, she had heard about people being 'altered' having strange abilities, it didn’t take her long to put two and two together, she had to learn what it was she could do and get a handle on it fast.
