Predictably, Ganondorf was not particularly amused by Nadia's little pun storm. He was, however, very interested to hear that the Seekers had taken out two of Consul P's protectors, leaving the consul himself potentially vulnerable to attack. At last, the Gerudo thought, some much needed catharsis after his imprisonment and having to slog through that hellish Basement, "If you must know," he eventually told Nadia as an answer to her questioning, "I left my weapons with a blacksmith overnight to give them an upgrade. You wouldn't have wanted me to go gallivanting into this 'Soul Sanctum' place without any of my weapons, would you?" He was being somewhat facetious, having already demonstrated by now he was perfectly capable of fighting without his weapons.

He also listened to Rubick's recounting of the fights he had won in the Thorn, although he did not answer. Of course the Magus handily won his matches, he'd been using Ganondorf's power after all. The King of Evil would have accepted nothing less than total victory of anyone who would 'borrow' it.

When everyone was finally meeting back up outside of the Consul's tower, that was when Ichiban spoke up. He told the others that Consul P was just a child, and should therefore not be judged too harshly. At this, the King of Evil could only scoff. "Just a kid, you say? Ha! Hardly!" He replied. Ichiban wasn't the only one who had seen this Consul before, "He has power beyond most adults, much less children. And in my experience, you either snuff out your enemy early, or they'll simply grow up into a bigger threat later." Clearly he knew better than to write off an enemy just because of their age, and for good reason.

"The moment that 'kid' declared himself the ruler of this Underground, he also then accepted the fact that he would inevitably be making enemies and other risks that such a declaration would entail. Such is the nature of being a ruler of any kind. You will have enemies, and you will be taking risks, regardless if you are a man, woman, or child." This also didn't stop him from holding up his fist and making the Triforce glow, almost as a reminder of just who it was Ichiban was in the company of. Kid or not, Consul P had played a role in Ganondorf's imprisonment in the ruins. There was no way the Gerudo was going allow that to stand.

"Mew..." said Mewtwo to the Audino once it had finished its work, thanking them. He rarely ever spoke verbally, except to fellow Pokemon since they would be the only creatures able to understand him. After that he focused his attention on the trio of Seekers now standing before him.

<What L says... is true.> He told them telepathically, <They attacked early this morning. L, and one other Consuls, H. They brought their fleets with them and invaded Alcamoth.> He gave them, as many details as he could recall, though unfortunately it would be an incomplete picture with the perspective of only a single survivor. Still, the Pokemon did his best.

<We fought back, but they had us outnumbered and outgunned. Mass casualties on both sides. I don't think very many of the mercenaries made it out alive. I recall Vandham leading a few to some kind of escape route, but I do not know if they successfully made it out.> He tried to think, knowing he needed to give them as many of the details as he could remember. <Myself, Dante, Sol, Jack-O, and Olimar were able to confront the Consuls directly. Dante and the others did a number on H, managing to send his ship crashing down into Eyrth Sea. H and Dante went down with it, but I admit I was a little too preoccupied with L to be able to confirm what exactly happened.>

He narrowed his eyes, recalling the discovery he had made about the female Consul. <Speaking of L, I battled her myself, and I believe I was able to discern her identity. Her name is unknown to me, but the beasts that she summons and commands uses Pokemon Moves, of that I am certain. I believe that L is a Pokemon Trainer from my world, and that means her Aether Foundation also likely came from my world as well. I did quite a number on L myself, and when she retreated in her ship I managed to stow away and follow her here.> He closed his eyes in thought, wishing he was able to provide any further revelations than that. <If you have a means of communication, then I suggest that you contact the other Seekers. Princess Peach and the others need to be informed about what's happened.> Then he opened them and stood to his feet.

<L! She puts on a convincing front, but make no mistake, she's not in good shape right now. Because of her battle with me four of her beasts are gone and L herself is injured and weakened. I know what I must do. I must finish the battle I started with her. This is easily the best opportunity we have to try and take her down once and for all and deal some real damage to the Consuls. She'll pay for what happened to Alcamoth, I'm going to make sure of it.>

Roxas hadn't taken much action with what Giovanna. But that was mostly because he had had so much on his mind. Well, that and she seemed to have a handle on things without his help. But Giovanna letting them know that Susie and Pit seemed to be in a bad way? That was enough to snap the Keybearer out of his slump. Whatever his issues at the moment, Roxas seemed to immediately shelf them and jerk his attention in the direction that Giovanna indicated. And then he took off, first in a sprint but then that quickly led into flowmotion. He seemed to launch himself and bounce from point to point like a young man possessed. Maybe he didn't know anything about Machines. Heck, maybe he didn't matter in the same way that someone like Sora did. But he knew who his friends were, and helping them when they were in need? That was something he could do without even having to think about it.

When Roxas neared the scene, he could see the struggle to fight against the Shell-Walkers and Clamberjaws. Susie in particular looked to be having an especially rough time. With Keyblades drawn, the Nobody used them to hook onto a rusty lamp post and used that momentum to whirl himself around and slingshot himself into the fray. He gave a few good slashes of his weapons but that wasn't his main plan. He was maneuvering himself into a position to have as many of the machines around him as he could. Then he thrust his weapons upward, "Thunder!" he shouted, unleashing a big Thundaga spell that would catch many of them of its range. He had to hope that these metal, mechanical machines had some kind of vulnerability to lightning.

But Roxas didn't hang around long to observe the damage he dealt. Instead he went on the move again and put himself in a spot near Pit."Heal!" he shouted as he once again lifted up his two Keyblades. This spell was a Curaga that would give Pit a nice bit of healing if he needed it.

"Hands off my friends!" He said to the machines he now found himself standing against.
Codename:
Firebrand

Secret ID:
James ‘Jay’ Lee

Age:
21

Powers:
Enhanced strength, speed, flight, and fire breath. Twice as strong as Will, who’s twice as fast.

Weaknesses:
Pride, and a quick-temper

Personality:
Now to his credit, Jay *does* fully acknowledge his shortcomings and does his damndest not to let them get the better of him, to mostly mixed results. He wants to be good and do the right thing, but sometimes the ghosts of a person's past have a habit of coming back to haunt them in one way or another. He's proud of his abilities as a hero, but especially as a fighter - which can lead to certain levels of obsessiveness and bitterness if an enemy manages to outfight him in any way.

Appearance:
The blonde one

BRIEF Bio:
Jay is the oldest son in a family of 4. His father, mother, and younger brother Casey. As a teenager, Jay ran with a street gang known as the Wolfpack - putting him at odds with his father who was a police officer. At one time the Wolfpack was one of the biggest gangs in town, rivaled only by the Dead Heads. Due to their size, they were often scattered around their turf in groups of 5-10, like packs of wolves, which was where they got their name. The Wolfpack as a whole was led by an inner circle calling themselves the Alphas, Jay himself was one in fact. But during a particularly nasty turf war with the Dead Heads, Jay lost not only one of his best friends from the gang, but his father as well who was one of the responding officers attempting to quell the violence. Jay quit the gang after that, realizing what that life had almost cost him. In the intervening time, the Wolfpack shrank into a shell of its former self, losing large swathes of its territory to the Dead Heads. Multiple times Jay has been approached by former gangmates trying to convince him to come and help them regain their glory but he turned them down every time. So instead they ended up recruiting Casey. Jay's been trying to get Casey out of that life, but with no success so far, resulting a rift between the two brothers.

Roxas had been caught up in his thoughts and almost missed Pit's question entirely. He offered Pit a glum expression but did manage a response, "He... he didn't really say anything. And that's kind of the problem. He's supposed to be from the same world as I am, but he apparently doesn't remember a thing. Not even the name of someone important that he fought alongside there." The Keybearer shook his head and shrugged, "I just don't get it. Sure, I never met him directly, but he should have known me through So-" Roxas cut himself off and sighed, "Never mind, maybe Susie's right and Galeem has something to do with this."

Roxas went ahead and donned his Organization XIII coat. The tear from where he was blasted was still there, but at least the thing could still be used for the rain. So while Roxas looked around, he had the hood of the coat pulled as well. From a distance he might be mistaken for an Organization member, but thankfully the people present either knew better or never heard of the Organization in the first place. Unfortunately for Roxas, he didn't have much idea of what he should be looking for. He opened up a few suitcases and found what, to him, looked like junk. Beyond that, Roxas was having a hard time finding anything that could be considered interesting.

During the second truck ride, he had more time to think over his situation. Someone like Cloud not remembering him was one thing, but him not remembering Sora seemed like a different matter entirely. After all, for all intents and purposes Sora was the one that actually "mattered" in the grand scheme of things in back in their world, "It's still hard to wrap my around it..." Roxas mused aloud, "If someone from my world can't even remember Sora, then what does chance does a Nobody like me have?"

When they eventually stopped. Giovanna shot down the idea of salvaging scrap, emphasizing that saving human lives was more important. Roxas agreed with her on principle, but decided to try and come up with a compromise, "I get your point, but... you make it sound like we can't do both. Besides, we have to fund ourselves while we're here somehow, right?"

...

Like Partitio, Roxas had decided to follow after Giovanna. Between the low visibility of the weather, and low-profile nature of his Organization coat, Roxas had a surprisingly easy enough time avoiding being spotted. The drone thing that Giovanna eventually spied on looked semi-important, but the lack of action on her part meant she probably didn't have the know-how to deal with it. If only Tora or Susie were nearby.

As Consul L made her exit from the landing platform, something watched from above in a nook on the side of the ship. The semi-humanoid Pokemon kept his gazed fixed squarely on L. As she addressed the crowds, Mewtwo thought back to the events of earlier that morning. He, Dante, and the others had managed to really lay into the pair of Consuls. It even looked like Consul H had seemingly gone down with his carrier, although potentially at the cost of Dante going down with him. Unfortunately Mewtwo had been preoccupied with battling against L to really take in the details of what specifically had happened. But for his own part, Mewtwo had been able to hold his own against L and her beasts. So the Pokemon knew that the Consul was currently putting on a show and was actually a lot more injured than she was letting on.

In all honesty, Mewtwo was tempted to try another go at L. She was weakened, at least a few of her beasts were gone and so she was actually in a vulnerable position right now. The Pokemon clenched one of his hands into a fist, seriously considering just using Teleport to take her by surprise. But then again, he was also quite injured himself. If she threw even a single Poke Ball, or worse, an Ultra Ball? That could very well spell his doom. It was a stroke of blind luck that Mewtwo managed to spot what he thought looked like a familiar figure among the gathered crowds. The Monster Hunter? Was it really him? Mewtwo couldn't tell for certain. But if it was, then that meant the Seekers had some kind of presence here. Well that would certainly be a preferable option to trying to attack L alone.

With a heavy sigh, Mewtwo focused his gaze in the familiar figure's direction and used Teleport. The Pokemon vanished from his hiding spot, and moments later reappeared right next to whom he hoped was the Ace Cadet. <Need help... Alcamoth... it's...> but that was last thing Mewtwo managed to project into the figure's thoughts before he finally passed out from his own exhaustion and injuries.

Level 4 Ganondorf: 14/40
Exp: 2
NEW EXP Balance--- 16/40

Unfortunately, Ganondorf had a bit of a wait to sit through this time. Apparently the rules for the fights had been updated and now all combatants had to agree to sip on a Dwarven Flask before entering the pit. It would keep them from suffering fatal blows, and once an opponent was K.O.'d the victor was obligated to use the Dwarven Flask they carried to get them back up on their feet, otherwise the victory and the prize were forfeit. On top needing to listen these new rules, there was already a fight going on and Ganondorf would have to wait for it to end before he had a turn to enter.

That fight was between a muscular humanoid toad and a bony-looking reptilian with a large avian beak. The only one wielding a weapon was the reptile, with its long spear. It would make occasional leaps into the air and come back down onto its opponent with a downward spear thrust. But the toad-man was not helpless, in fact he was pretty quick on his feet - able to take quick leaps and bounds here and there to evade attacks. Ganondorf supposed to this made sense, given that he was a toad, or frog, or whatever. But he also had powers of his own. At one point he appeared to greatly enlarge his fist in order to knock away an incoming spear attack. He even tried to counter with a kick using a foot that transformed into a comically large boot. And that kick was strong too, able to leave a crack in the pit's wall.

The two went back and forth like this for several moments. Then out of nowhere, the toad was able to catch the reptile's spear with enlarged hands and then swing around and through the creature into the wall. Before the spear-wielding fighter could recover from being winded, the toadman came crashing into him, headbutting the creature dead center while large ram's horns were grown from his head. Clearly he was strong, and able to enhance his strength by enlarging and transforming his limbs. But the Gerudo was confident that he could overpower him, and now that the fight was done, he'd get his chance.

"Good people of the City of Tears!" came the voice of the announcer, "Returning from a string of victories he won yesterday, we have... Ganondorf! Now challenging our current King of the Pit: Rash, the Battletoad! Who will emerge victorious? Let's find out, lower... the gates!"

Ganondorf drew one of his large swords and strode out to begin the fight. The Battletoad was aggressive. He immediately made a big jump and attempted to crash down onto Ganondorf with an oversized boot stomp. The Gerudo managed to side-step out of the way and came back with a big swing of his sword, bringing blade down from above in a vertical slash. And that's when the toad surprised him by managing to catch the blade in oversized hands, a level of raw strength that even Ganondorf hadn't expected. And then by twisting his wrists, Rash tried to yank the Gerudo into a throw, only for Ganondorf to release his grip on the weapon's hilt to avoid being pulled off balance. He then reached for the white sword and pulled it from its scabbard.

"Hmph, not bad." He admitted aloud, only to come at the toad with even more ferocity. Rash gripped the hilt of the sword he'd wrestled from Ganondorf and the two fighters clashed. They swung and slashed at one another, usually able to guard or parry the other's attacks. Even after several moments, the most they managed was to occasionally nick each other for minimal damage. But Ganondorf began to notice something. Rash's attacks were ever slightly more sluggish than his own. This was likely the work of the heavy infusion giving the weapon a heavier weight than its appearance let on. And at one point Ganondorf's attack missed but managed to split a center pillar like a hatchet splitting a log. Good, that meant the infusion was indeed working, and was primarily the thing he was testing. Now he just needed to win this match.

Thankfully for the Gerudo, he was more trained and experienced swordsman than the toad was. That allowed Ganondorf to parry an incoming attack with an upward slash to knock the sword out of Rash's grip. Then Ganondorf dropped his own sword and decided to settle this man-to-toad. He lunged at Rash with a charged up Warlock Punch, who responded in kind with an enlarged fist of his own. It was a seemingly epic clash, but only one of them bore the mighty Triforce of Power. And as such, Rash was sent sprawling into the pit's wall where he was winded and looking out for the count.

Ganondorf knelt down and used the Dwarven Flask on his opponent as he had been instructed earlier. He could hear the announcer's booming voice, "Good people, we have a winner. All hail... Ganondorf!" but after gathering his two swords from where they lay, Ganondorf surprisingly offered a thumbs down to indicate he was retiring and choosing not to continue on. He only really wanted to test out the strength of his upgraded swords, and was able to get satisfactory results from fighting Rash. He had no other reason to drag out his time here.

"And that's all there is to it." the Gerudo told Rubick as he passed him by on the way out, "Hope your battles go just as well. I'm going to go on ahead and look for the others. I'm sure we'll catch up a bit later." and with that the King of Evil collected his winnings and made for the ladder that would take him back to the Amusement Park.

"This is where the Law stops, and I start."

It was the cold of night. The sun had set over Steel City over three hours ago. The outskirts of town were pitch black, lit only by occasional flashes of lightning as the rain poured down and thunder rumbled in the distant skies. On the old road approaching a dairy farm, a patch of road was dimly lit by the flaming wreckage of a motorcycle. The dim light revealed a masculine figure laying nearby. Shot in the back, the uniformed policeman lay face down in a muddy puddle of blood and water. His right hand clutched the handle of a Mauser CP6 pistol, while the left hand clutched the handle of a Bowie knife.

The symbol engraved on the blade almost appeared to pulsate with a soft glow in time with the flashes of lighting and flickering of the nearby flame. A haunting wind whispered its way across the scene, washing over the surely dead man. And when mixed with the pattering and splashes of raindrops, one could swear a distant voice could be just made out among the blowing wind.

"Rise."

After moments of nothing happening, a bolt of lighting struck much nearer than any previous. The accompanying thunder roared alongside the now-howling wind. The distant whisper became a closer, more sharply-toned command.

Rise!"

Hector's eyes shot open and he bolted upright in his cot. He looked around at his surroundings, confirming that he was indeed in the abandoned barn that he had repurposed into a hideout. It was spacious enough to park his bike inside of like a garage, and located outside of town where he would be allowed solitude and privacy. Hector wiped cold sweat from his face and stood upright. Sunlight peaked through the occasional cracks and spacing between planks, informing him that it was daytime - though he wasn't sure what time it was specifically. Even so, he set about his usual wake up routine.

He grabbed a bucket and used it to draw water from a nearby well outside. Then hung the barrel onto a simple pulley system he constructed in order to dump it on himself so that he could wash and clean himself. He turned on the radio of his bike, allowing himself to listen in on SCPD radio chatter while he went about getting dressed. At this time he picked up on some dispatch chatter, officially being labeled as a "drunk and disorderly" incident but with a certain code number attached to it that Hector recognized. It meant that there was a possible Doctor Death connection to this incident that the police were keeping quiet from the public until further investigation.

Hector had heard that name before, as anyone might have. And while he had yet to encounter Death personally, Hector had been diligent in trying to keep the reports of his activities on his radar. Perhaps Doctor Death was just another psychotic freakshow... or maybe he wasn't. Hector had been investigating his "awakening" on the side, trying to piece together how and why he was able to survive something he surely shouldn't have. And there was a possibility - however slim - that this Doctor Death character had an answer. Or, if not that, a clue at least.

In the next moments, Lawman was suited and burst out of the main doors of his barn/hideout aboard his motorcycle. Going on "rides" like this during the day wasn't his usual M.O., but he was willing to buck his own patterns if it meant getting a shot at Doctor Death. With his bike's engine giving its signature haunting roar, he sped into Steel City en route to Kirby Park.

That... did not go well. They didn't know him - which Roxas half-expected - but they also didn't know Sora, which made no sense at all. Didn't they both fight off Heartless alongside him at Hollow Bastion? How could they forget that? Susie suggested it might have had something to do with Galeem... and maybe she was right, but something about this was off. More than that though, Roxas was just plain embarrassed, practically humiliated. He made himself look like a complete idiot back there, but that wasn't even the worst part. He'd thought for sure he found someone he knew, but he was still alone in this World of Light for the time being after all.

Roxas spent the rest of the search keeping quiet. Between what happened last night and his earlier embarrassment, the Keybearer was definitely feeling pretty dejected. He stayed off to the side the entire time the Seekers were recruiting help to halt the Machine attack. And once everyone was rolling out the main gates aboard a pair of trucks, Roxas just sat in his seat and stared silently out the window. He heard Susie ask something about scrap, but Roxas had no answer he could offer. He didn't know the first thing about machines and salvage, so all he could reply with was a small shrug accompanied by more silence.

As he exited Vamos' shop, Ganondorf caught sight of a familiar magus: Rubick, "Indeed... Rubick, I believe?" he replied, exchanging greetings with his fellow Seeker. The magus brought up the adventures both groups had experienced in their time separated from one another, "If you consider nearly drowning in a tidal wave of blood to be an 'adventure'..." the Gerudo muttered, not exactly keen to recall that place, "...but unfortunately, the only real stories I have are..." he appeared to hesitate momentarily, careful to choose his wording wisely, "...war stories, as it were. I wouldn't want to bore you with any of those."

By this point the two of them had begun to walk together. And it was here that Ganondorf attempted to change the subject before he could pressed any further about his 'war stories', "Actually, I was thinking of returning to The Thorn to give these new infusions in my weapons a... test drive of sorts." he gestured to his newly upgraded swords, "Perhaps you'd care to try your hand there, yourself? The fights are not to the death, and they keep clerics on standby to treat injuries in between rounds." he offered, in case the magus might be interested in a little amusement, "The money you win is quite good too, of course. I was told you could even bet on matches as a spectator if being a combatant doesn't interest you."

Whether Rubick accompanied Ganondorf or not was obviously up to him. As for Ganondorf, he made his way back to the Amusement Park district and to where he remembered the entrance to The Thorn was. Whether he was alone or if Rubick was in tow, the Gerudo King would be greeted by the familiar figure of the woman who had first beckoned him down into the underground arena.

"Ah, you've returned. Back for more blood are you, Stranger?" Red Lucy asked with her usual seductive tone.

"For a couple of more rounds, yes." The Gerudo answered, indicating his intention to fight, though not quite as much as he had the previous evening. With those greetings done, Ganondorf climbed down into the tunnel that would lead to The Thorn and its infamous Pit.
