Wasn't the Black Knight "None shall pass," though?

You ever realize that you haven't changed your status in months, go back to change it, and then wonder what the *fuck* your previous status was even talking about?

No, no, they clearly are referring to Ohio -- which Georgia is geographically south of, so the theory is still sound.
I'm an exceedingly enthusiastic roleplayer who's been writing for about ten years now and yet still hasn't managed to produce any kind of solo piece of writing worth reading. I like to consider myself a good writer, but that's kind of a matter of opinion, as many would argue that my tendency to ramble on at entirely excessive length about things is boring rather than interesting. I'm also incredibly OCD about formatting, so if you're wondering why my bios look so fancy, that's why. It's just something I do because... reasons, I guess.
Anyway, as you've probably noticed from my avatars and RP choices, I'm more than a bit of a fan of anime and manga, but also enjoy movies, video games, the occasional comic book... the list goes on. For you see, I am not a mere dork - I am the one spoken of in legends, the one whose dorkiness transcends all forms and boundaries. I am... the Legendary... OMNI-DORK!
...Anyway, thanks for dropping in to check on my profile! Hope to RP with you sometime!
Alrighty. I'll start working on my CS early, since I usually tend to over-complicate things because I'm OCD, so it takes me a little while to finish. ^^;
I think stats would best be handled as a sort of non-static ranking system. Not unlike Stand statistics from JJBA. A-F rankings on things like Destructive Power, Speed, etc.
I mean, I was thinking more F/SN, but that totally works too. Probably better, actually.
@pkken Hmm... I don't think a hard-and-fast system of numerical stats would work very well, since this wouldn't be dice or stat based. However, on the other hand, giving a general "rating" for individual parameters might be a convenient frame of reference. For example, character A is light and fast, with a focus on agility. Character B, on the other hand, is slow but hard-hitting. So, to describe that, a convenient shorthand might be to have "stats" like "speed" vs "strength," with simple letter rankings. So, Character A would have an A or B in Speed and a C or a D in Strength, while Character B would be the opposite. So, when they're in battle, that allows their writers to look at those and clearly see who's faster, who's stronger, and all that. Those could also be raised somewhat through training and in-character progress, providing a track of how a character has improved over the course of the RP.
Aside from that, though, I'd mostly recommend limiting character progress to just finding new applications to Quirks, surpassing prior limitations, etc.
Btw, we could mimic canon if the Not!Social Witch and Team Faker teamed up. Just without the angry witch and martial arts guy involved! XD
Actually, out of everyone, they're probably the most likely of all the teams to get Mira's sympathy, since Hasabe doesn't seem like the type to pick fights, and Mira probably wouldn't choose to deliberately attack somebody who wasn't threatening her. Although, then again, he's also the most "modern" of all the participants, so she'd probably have the most difficulty in understanding or relating to him. In any case, it'll be interesting to see how the two Saber teams interact.
Something like that. She's a very defensively-oriented Master, so Team Saber will probably be working similarly to Team Caster in UBW, minus the Fake Servant sitting on their doorstep.
Yo! This is my first time running an interest check for my own thread idea on this site, so forgive me if I'm a little bit disorganized about it. In any case, I'll try to keep things simple.
I'm a long time writer who generally works based on ideas for characters rather than overall universes. Because of this, most of my ideas tend to be a bit scatterbrained at best, and only really come together once I have a full cast rather than a single idea. As you've probably noticed from both my avatar and the tags, I'm also a bit of an anime fan, and tend to be at least partially inspired by the sorts of over the top antics you'd usually see in one. As for my posting style... I tend to like a decent amount of detail myself, since I write partially to pass the time, and prefer to have something with a little bit of depth to sink my teeth into. However, I also tend to dedicate a lot of time to staying online when I do log in, meaning I'll usually make multiple consecutive posts of anywhere between 2-8 paragraphs in length. As such, my pace can be a bit spastic, so ye have been warned. I also usually tend to favor 1x1 RPs for faster-paced writing, but could be tempted to write with a larger group assuming that was the best way to fill out a more expansive setting. Really, it mostly depends on how many people are interested. However, I would also like to stress that dedication is a MUST. There's nothing that's more disappointing for everyone else is getting invested in a story only for it to abruptly cut off because somebody left the scene and now everybody else is frozen.
Now, as for why I'm making this thread, I've been trying to kill time by joining a bunch of RPs, but nothing's really going at the moment and so I've decided to do something about that. Since I have a couple of ideas in mind, I figured I'd put them up and see if anyone was interested. As there are multiple possibilities to choose from, I'll wait to put up a CS format until I've decided which one I'm actually going to do. So, without further ado, let's just start tossing these out here, shall we?
This first one's a bit of a mixed bag as far as genre is concerned. It's set in a steampunk-ish fantasy setting where magic is rare, and most ordinary people instead tend to use various different magical items in daily life. Through enchantments, people achieve the sort of comforts that we would associate with modern technology. However, for all of humanity's advancements, humans seem to have reached their limit. Their empires cannot spread their influence any further, as they're checked on all sides by a variety of other races - some monstrous, others more familiar, while some are hostile and others friendly. The frontiers are falling to pieces, picked apart by raiders of various demi-human tribes, and the people preyed upon by mighty beasts. Due to the influence of the undead, ordinary human soldiers only serve to bolster their enemy's forces when and if they die in battle. So, to counter this problem, the ruling council of mages decides to engineer a new type of soldier: an artificial homunculus, possessed with a once-living soul, and modified with various magical implants in order to grant them unique abilities, in most cases similar to a system of "classes" or "skills" which they can invoke based on their specializations. These Replicas, assumed to be a blank slate, are tasked by their creators with the protection of the frontier, given rewards proportionate to their successes. Thus, they become state-sanctioned bounty hunters of a sort, targeting and eliminating dangerous monsters, or protecting settlements from demi-humans. In the eyes of the people, they're heroes, as few humans know of the Replicas' origins as artificial lifeforms, and instead think of them as elite volunteer knights. In many cases, retired Hunters have even gone on to become nobles, or members of the ruling council, regarded as heroes of the kingdom. They are the elite of the elite, and it is among them that you are proud to number yourself!
...Or at least, you would be, if you had any idea what you were doing. See, as time went on, they started running out of options for creating Replicas, and so were forced to either pull souls from any dead people they could find, or maybe even summon them up from other worlds, or from the distant future or past. And, since the process was so rushed, not all of their memories were properly wiped, and some may begin to resurface, leading to confusion at the world and time period they find themselves in, and perhaps conflicts of identity. Furthermore, these mass-production variants are also usually weaker than their earlier predecessors. Although they've tried to level the playing field by bestowing the new generation with more advanced magical items, well... In practice, this leads to a bunch of dysfunctional, out-of-place and out-of-time schmucks running all over the place with powers way out of their league.
The Replica Hunters are normally created in specific "family" units, meant to work together as teams. But, due to the inferior quality of this generation, many teams have fallen apart in the field, be it due to sustaining massive casualties, multiple desertions, or something else entirely. For those who return alone, expectations are low. But, since the council went to the effort of creating these Hunters, they'll at least see to it that they do their duty to the last. This resolution has led to the creation of the Null Squads - cobbled together groups of misfits and survivors who no longer have a unit of their own. With mismatched personalities, specializations that lie all over the place and might not even align well, and memories of past lives lurking under the surface, these Null Knights thus find themselves challenged just to tolerate each other's company, much less work together as a team or earn their daily living hunting monsters. There's really only one way this can end: total chaos.
Inspiration-wise, I'm mostly taking cues from stuff like Konosuba, with a genre cross between fantasy adventure which might even be rather grim at times and a more lighthearted slice-of-life style story. Characters might have some pretty potent abilities, but they all have their own issues - be they physical or mental - that prevents them from being effective overall. It's up to these incompetent schmucks to find some way to cope with one another's idiosyncrasies and survive long enough to figure out how to work together as a team - or else.
A fantasy-romance set within a more straightforward world of swords and sorcery inspired by a mix of medieval China/Japan and Renaissance Europe. A long time ago, the Primordial Dragons combined their powers in order to give life to the world in a pure, free form. Spirits embodied the essence of nature and its vitality, and served to govern the laws of the new creation. However, as the Dragons turned their attentions elsewhere and began to fight amongst themselves, these spirits began to fade, and newer, less pure forms of life took their place. Mortals were born amidst the confusion and chaos of the Dragons' battles, and were drawn to the Dragons which gave them life. Slowly, empires came to form under the banners of each nation's divine lord, and wars were fought on the earth as well as in the heavens.
The First of the Dragons, Torai, tried to stop his brethren, and put an end to the struggles. Under his wise guidance, the world knew peace. But, it was not meant to last. One of the Dragons rose up against Torai, and murdered him as he slept. As his dying act, the great Dragon blessed the land with his blood, offering sanctuary and prosperity to those who sought peace, while elsewhere, the other Dragons fought with renewed vigor, each accusing the others of Torai's murder. Meanwhile, on the earth below, history has begun to repeat itself.
The empire left in Torai's wake has since broken down into smaller nations, most of which follow a particular Dragon and are in a state of on-again, off-again war with the others. In particular, however, the nation surrounding the old capital far to the north still stands, its monarchs said to be blessed with the wisdom and power of the deceased Dragon they venerate. So long as the royal family still stands, it was said that Torai's blessings would continue to be showered upon the kingdom. But, when a corrupt advisor of the royal court murders the King and Queen and claims control of the throne, all of that will change.
Only their daughter, the young princess, managed to escape death, and fled the capitol. Pursued by powers beyond her comprehension, she's left only with the guidance that she must seek out those blessed, like her, by the other Dragons, and do what Torai could not: discover the cause of the chaos within the world, and put an end to it. So it is that she begins her journey between the kingdoms, searching for those with the power to put a stop to the coming war...
Phew! Sorry for the walls of text. More ideas may come with time, but for now, I'll mostly focus on these two. I hope one of them catches your fancy!
Anyway, thanks for reading, and I hope to RP with you soon!~ ^_^
