Summer break is upon me! Woo Hoo! Roleplaying, Warhammer (Age of Sigmar), writing a book, and the gym are my main activities for the next nine weeks.

The dot over a lowercase i and j has a name! It's called a tittle, which is a noun meaning "a tiny amount or part of something". Like the dot over an i or a j.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books for 50 years. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about fifteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons (Edition 1 & 2). Later editions came out after I quit that game. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts. I love doing this form of role play, especially since I have a solid foundation on the past.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over four years ago. :(]

Almost two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

@Force and Fury Ooooh! Love the map and the family tree format. Maybe I might borrow this?
It's a zombie apocalypse RP. People will inevitably die.

This is why I created a large extended family. Most of those will die. Maybe a few will survive and make it to Huddeen?

On another, I live in a New England state and have traveled through New Hampshire. Here is my guess for your fictional town name:

A mashup of Hudson and Keene?

Well
@KuroHow old is Holly Holloway? You never wrote the Paragraph or two for characterization for her.

@mickilennialcould it be possible for Lee Graves and Jennifer Gauthier to be friends? They are two years apart. Jenn, 16 is a Junior in High School. Her older brother Jake is 17.

@MorgannisHow about Emily Bailey, 15 and Jenn Gauthier, 16. They are close in age and grew up in the same neighborhood?

Luca Bailey, 12 and Kyle Gauthier, 14 May have hung around one another at times.

@Force and FuryJason Sparling, 18 may be in the same grade with Jacob Gauthier, 17 at the High School. Jake is more into running sports like Cross Country and Track, but in these small rural schools everyone knows everyone especially if they grew up on the same street.

Location: Kitchen, Gauthier Residence
Timeframe: Early Morning

Interaction(s): None
Previously: N/A

Jake Gauthier sat at the kitchen table staring out the back window into the tree line behind the house. His thoughts wandered to the friends he’d known for the past twenty years working for the railroad. First, it was the Springfield Terminal Railway owned by Pan Am, and then the name changed to Pan Am Railway and was finally bought out by CSXT earlier this summer. As long as he received a paycheck he didn’t care who owned the railroad.

They are all fucking gone,’ Jake thought to himself. Every friend he knew over the past twenty years was gone. Everyone he knew from the first battalion thirty-sixth infantry of the first armor division was gone too; at least the closer ones who he kept in touch with. This was the unit he served with in Germany and subsequently in Iraq. They were responsible for the Area of Operations just north of Baghdad, Iraq (The Green Zone) starting in May 2003 until his End of Time in Service (ETS) date sent him back to the world and Concord, New Hampshire.

Jake hefted the cup of coffee and sipped at the black liquid unspoiled by sugar or cream. A movement to his right startled him.

“Hey, Dad!” Jake Junior walked into the kitchen and by habit opened the refrigerator door. He found a bottle of milk that had not soured yet and retrieved it. Just before the 17-year-old high school senior was about to drink from the bottle, his father yelled at him.

“Get a glass you neanderthal!”

The teen lowered the bottle of milk and placed it on a counter to the right of the sink. He opened the cupboard door above the counter and pulled out a glass. He poured the milk and then searched for a bowl for some cereal. He then found a box of Cheerios and filled the bowl. He ate the cereal dry and drank the milk after sitting at the table across from his father.

“What do you think we should do, Dad?”

“I’ve been thinking about that. It is a good idea to find new locations to look for food. We could take my pickup truck to one of the neighboring towns and see if there are any goods to be had in the Walmart or a Hannaford’s.” Jake took another tug on the coffee. “You know, we should go on a hunting trip and bring back a deer.”

“It’s not hunting season, Dad.”

The father smiled at his son, “Jake, there is no such thing anymore. We can go hunting at any time. Just need to keep an eye out for those Creeps. That reminds me, we need to start carrying a sidearm all the time. Also, equip yourself with a quiet melee weapon and know how to use it. At least have something handy. You don’t know when you will need it.”

Jake Junior and Jake Senior continued to eat their breakfast when Jennifer Gauthier came into the kitchen. She sat down next to her father without saying a word. She has had a saddened expression for the past week or more.

“How’s it going punkin?” her father asked her.

“kay,” Jenn muttered. There was an uncomfortable silence at the kitchen table. “Have you heard from Aunt Leslie, Uncle John or Aunt Clarice, Dad?”

“No,” Jake spoke and went back to staring out the window.

“The cell phones are still working. Wouldn’t they text?”

“They would if they could.”

I forgot I did that. Barbara is my mom's name and my wife and I had a daughter who died the day she was born too. Doh!

EDIT: I modified the post to show that Aunt Claire is the one no one knows what happened to.
Also, as for the teens, just let me know if you think of anything. Lee and Holly have been preestablished from the prior RP to have been childhood friends from the beginning, their families being all buddy-buddy neighbors and stuff.

I added the Gauthier family to the character tab. I also included the family tree in a hider at the bottom. It dates back to Jake's great grandfather who came down from Canada in 1905 when he was just 13 years old. His wife's family came down in 1910 and the met around the time of WWI.

Jake has a lot of family in the Southern New Hampshire/Eastern Massachusetts area. Some of them may be alive and may possibly find their way to Huddeen at some point in time. I assume cell phones are still working as the electricity is still functioning.

I am beginning to work on a post now (1930 EST). If I come up with some connections with the teens I'll post them here in the OOC tab.

I've been a bit under the weather lately, missed the premiere. I read your introductory posts. I am pleased to see the quality of your submissions. I hope to post mine tonight.

I expect teenaged children who live in the same neighborhood and attend the same school have some familiarity with one another, if not haveing been friends for their entire lives.
