Bio

Greetings,

I am Jb; Briton by birth, roleplayer by my own hand, and lover of literature. I am also an amateur historian, a receiver of a Bachelors degree in Ancient and Medieval History - quite a useless degree, actually - and would like to think that I'm a fair, honest and open guy.

As far as RP'ing goes, I'm pretty open to most things really, all you need to do is ask! :)

So, if you've ever any questions for me, wish to speak about RP's involving myself or run by myself, or simply feel like a chat, don't be afraid to get in touch.

Night was coming to cover what had been done at Sarton that day - the ruin, the glory and the pain of it all - thick layers of cloud hampering any pursuit of the orange-clad enemy, the result being small groups of weary returning Guardsmen and women who only wished to rest and replenish themselves.

It was well past midnight when lights were spotted on the road approaching the village, half-a-dozen armoured cars and at least three Chimera APCs coming to a halt just at the fringe of what had once been a thriving settlement and agricutural society. Now all but dead and gone.

Ranks of Cekrov troopers piled efficiently out of the transports, a stern looking Captain making it so that dear Corproal Delafare was no longer the officer in command - nor did the exhausted man look any the worse for it, having sat silently as Horacio made the rounds to take confession and give a moral boost to those that would soon face their twisted countrymen again.

As Victorine stood talking to a young Guard sergeant she was very much interrupted, the Emissary making its way over to her in what seemed to be quite a lot of haste; what spurted from its grille-mouth came out as the same emotionless drivel as always, but the words made the Celestian grit her teeth and give a deep growl of irritation.

"My lady, the Governor's secretary sent an urgent message. It appears that the palace itself is under attack. We have been ordered to return to the capital, while our soldiers proceed against the enemy in the mountains."

If the saint was truly in the mountains then by all laws she should go and help... but if the Governor truly was under attack... why did the God-Emperor have to bring such hard times upon her and hers?

"By the Throne," she said in frustration, "let us go and relieve our good Diokletion De'mange then. Lead on, Emissary."

A militarily enforced curfew had been placed upon the capital by the time they arrived in the early hours of the morning, Victorine inwardly bemoaning the lack of sleep but also well aware of her duty and how it would like to voice such opinions openly.

As they made their way through the streets there was not a soul to be seen, lights flickering in windows and shapes and shadows but no more, troopers patrolling the avenues and streets with caution and hesitance, their pinched-face expressions showing that, although they were taking the situation seriously, they were nevertheless shaken by it.

The Palace of Bovange loomed ahead of them, figures silhouetted by flame moving about from vehicle to vehicle, the Palace Guard and PDF facing toward the Governors residence as if expecting an attack from within.

"There were multiple teams of them," confirmed a stuffy Guardsman when questioned, his head moving from the group back to the palace more than once, "they entered the palace dressed as dignitaries, servants... and guards."

Victorine could not keep a scowl off of her face, pressing the shorter man for more information. How many exactly? Where did they go? Was anyone leading them?

"I do not know exactly, but they have the Governor trapped within his own chambers, a hostage."

"Have they given any demands?"

"Yes... they want him," the man pointed to the silent Emissary, the half-man giving no sign of anything disturbing him, "and the Sororitas that had come to this planet, I am sorry m'lady."

The Celestian gave a grunt as she pulled her arm from the sling across her chest, Sister Alexa having made sure it would be of some use at least, a quick movement showing that there was pain but nothing she couldn't keep under control for the moment.

"Well?" She asked the others who had been stood nearby, "I would suggest a rapid insertion to seize the Governor, but we are not at our full strength and I do not wish to risk further lives."

She recalled Sister Adalard and her face grew dark, her expression illuminated by a shimmer of flame - what had once been the main doors into the palace, now so much burning timber.

"Nor can we simply allow an Imperial Governor to be killed, otherwise I would have not bought us back here."

She looked at the towering Alexa, then to the Confessor and his impressive facial hair, and finally at the battered-but-standing Lisbeth. The last being the one she feared for the most.

"What say you Sisters? Confessor? How we proceed here will shape the future, I believe."

It's A Wonderful Life!

This RP is now accepting new characters

Summary:

- A jaunt of daring and do within the Warhammer 40,000 universe and setting.

- Characters can come in most shapes and sizes, their age, experience and so forth pretty much up to the participant; that being said, I will immediately reject any God-like beings or over the top characters.

- Romance, violence and so forth are expected and accepted, let's just keep it to a 'adult' level without it getting X-rated!

- Our tale takes place in the most up-to-date period of 40K timeline, the beginnings of the 42nd Millennium - yes, Cadia has fallen by this point.

- Character sheets will be accepted based on merit alone, not 'first come first serve'; the more odd/powerful your character, the more exceptional your character sheet will need to be.

- I fully expect, and intend, for characters to evolve over time during this RP. An example might be that someone loses a limb and seeks a bionic replacement, whether they get one will be both up to me as GM and the participants as a whole; character sheets will then be edited to show any changes, as with a TT role-playing game, and just remember that every action will likely have some form of reaction.

- This will be a 'high casual - advanced' RP, correct spelling and the like is encouraged (although I'll let less obvious mistakes slide), and at least a paragraph per post. An entire novel is welcome, but not necessary.

- A decent grasp of the 40K lore is welcome, but newcomers are entirely welcome as well.

- This RP, for reference(s) sake, could be compared to Band of Brothers, Sharpe/Hornblower, Dirty Dozen as well as many more.

- We will be playing as a composite regiment I.E. one composed of elements from decimated contingents, allowing for variety and, hopefully, more interesting role-playing.

- All elements of the Imperial war machine can/will be represented (minus Astartes etc); Mechanicus, psykers, Naval contingents and the like.

- This will not be a purely military RP, there will be battles and combat, but it will ultimately not be the entire story. Thank the Emperor.

- While I do have plans for the narrative, I'm all too happy to listen to suggestions from participants, questions and anything else.

In Character Info:

For a full two decades the armies of the Imperial Guard, just one branch of the cumbersome Imperial machine, have sought to bring to an end the rule of Warboss Mug Thrakta within the Vernum System of the Imperium; arriving from out of the warp one day, followed by millions of his greenskinned boyz, Thrakta immediately set about enslaving those that did not resist - setting them to work constructing crude hab-units and towering edifices to the Ork gods, as well as weapons and armour for his ever growing legions - and destroying those that sought to impede or halt his progress across the system.

The Imperium does not take kindly to any incursion, let alone to losing a system vital to the production of armament, and without so much as a second thought an armada of ships and a faceless muster of Guard regiments were gathered together into a hammer that would strike Thrakta from this world. With the support of Astartes detachments, Naval support and superiority, it took millions of lives and twenty whole years to push the Greenskins back to Vernum Primas - the capital planet of the system, and the last Ork stronghold to take before cleansing operations could begin to wipe out the scourge forever.

On that planet the forces of the Emperor's Imperial Guard stormed the Capitol, enveloping the Orkoid menace in two rings of fire-power – one within and one without; hard was the fighting, and thousands were the lives lost, such formations as the Hirisit 482nd and 88th Cadian Mechanized Infantry taking over fifty-percent casualties in the whirlwind of close-quarter combat and urban fighting that ultimately saved the entire Vernum System from becoming a new Ork dominion.

Lord General Militant Egough Van Deer has assembled every remaining soldier on the very trench marked fields that were only a day ago soaked with blood. Each regiment, decimated or no, has been called to attention and assembly upon these fields, and after this 'victory parade' it can only be a matter of time before each and every man and women are once more sent to die in the God-Emperor's name once more...

Out of character info:

Welcome, one and all, to the grim darkness of the future where their is only war!

So, there you go; we shall begin as our regiment is fused into one, outside the walls of Vernum City as the victory parade takes place – it won't be long before we're all awarded medals and sent on the next campaign so no worries there.

The reason I am rebooting this RP is that, as correctly stated by a former player in this RP (which can be found here and here) we never really got into the 'meat' of the role play and everything that came with it. Character development and so forth. I seek to remedy that.

We'll begin with characters preparing for the victory parade – more an assembly really – and then get going with greater things. Straight back into it, as it were.

Any questions can be asked to me, and I shall be happy to provide answers.

I expect everyone will have some knowledge of Warhammer 40K, but for those that might lack a little, I have always found warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Warhammer… to be one of the best places to look. Just make certain that the information has a source, otherwise it is very likely fan made and therefore not canon.

Sebastian Johan Bock (no relation to Johan Sebastian Bock) could barely contain himself, his avian-like form nearly shaking with all this talk of 'Cloven Ones', of red crows and malarial children, and the arrival of not one but two stunted figures that honestly made the Chamberlains flesh crawl.

"Cloven ones?" Scoffed the hunched over Reiklander, "bloody Beastmen?! Oh give me a rest," he turned his eyes to the Priestess, "with all due respect to you, Sister, I would not take the word of your fellow clergyman here; we have had patrols sifting the woodlands here abouts, hundreds of armed men, and have found nothing to even suggest such a thing."

After his eyes nearly rolling back into his own head, Sebastian assumed that there was no-one else coming, looking from the towering knight to the Sigmarite to the Halfling, he gave a heavy sigh and gestured for the group to follow him into the town hall.

It truly was a marvellous structure - one of the greatest in this part of the Reikland in fact! - and beginning with entering through the thick oaken doors, flanked by two halberd-bearing militiamen dressed in flamboyant hat, shining breastplate and with a shortsword as a sidearm, this could clearly be seen.

The entry hall was a high-ceiling space supported by stout beams, the clock-housing visible if one were to look back toward the door, the entire hall formed of sturdy Reikwald timber.

Directly before the group was a wide hall with a central stairway, the steps covered in a fine layer of velvet and wide enough for a carriage to rumble up the stairs if needed, moving to a second floor wherein were housed the mayors quarters and rooms for visiting diplomats - in one of these rooms was where poor little Johan even now tossed and turned in delirium.

Slowly but surely they ascended onward and upwards, moving along the landing past further members of the militia - sturdy men and boys of the township - until they reached a door at the farthest end of the landing.

"Mind your manners, keep any questions short."

With the top of his staff the chamberlain knocked thrice upon the door, before I voice bid them enter.

Truly the mayors chambers were a cornucopia of 'stuff' - eyes immediatly drawn toward the tapestries showing Imperial victories, successful invasions, and even one of a scenic Mootland scene where little Halfling children dipped their hairy feet in the Aver river - the furniture obviously carved by the greatest carpenters in this part of the Reikwald at least, and a painting of Schartenfelds very first mayor was in pride of place above the desk at the far end of the room.

Yet above even that painting, shining just as much as it had when it was first forged by Dwarfish smiths of Karak Ziflin, was an Imperial zweihander of peerless quality; forged for the usage of the current mayor, a former veteran Greatsword of the Reikland state army, it had seen action from Kislev to Tilea and back again, taken many lives, and now sat as peacefully as a babe-in-arms in some chamber in some backwater town.

"Welcome," announced Dietrich van Schlofel, turning to look at the group and gesturing to the five or so seats in front of his desk - a little cramped maybe, but enough space for all - his one empty socket and lopsided smile instantly showing the hulk of a man that had presented himself at the Maw yesterday, "please take a seat, my friend."

"I have had some time to organise myself, and so here are a couple of answers to your questions of yesterday."

Though not too much shorter in his seated position, Dietrich - formerly Johan - dressed in his mayoral uniform, flared pantaloons and all, the chain of office clearly causing no discomfort about his neck, unrolled a map of the local area and began to slowly move one thick digit along various roads.

"There have been several raids on travelling groups, some pilgrims, and at least three caravans. They usually come along this road... here. Thus far there have been no bodies of either assailant or captive, nor have my many militia patrols found anything so far."

There was a small splutter from Sebastian, but he did little more than glare at a bookshelf in the corner.

"I am not going to pretend that we can offer much help - although you will get whatever supplies and materials you request and we can provide, as well as a wagon should you wish it - I will give you as detailed a map as I may."

Leaning back a little in his chair, Dietrich opened his arms and then clasped his hands back together after a moment, leaning forward toward the group.

"Now, before I send you on your way, is there anything I can do for you?"
@The Wyrm Cus I'm the GM! Don't have to reveal my schemes to anyone.
@The Wyrm Well, that was the general plan, so no worries there.
@POOHEAD189@TyrannosaursRex@The Wyrm@Blueskin@Penny@Dusty@BangoSkank

Right, time is not on my side at the moment, and so apologies for the hold up, but it will be coming soon.

While I'm slaving away I'll just leave a question here - how far do people wish to go? I can write up to the end of the meeting with the Mayor, or I can write up to heading into the forest, for example. If you also don't care, then that's perfectly fine.
Are we getting another advancement post @Jb?

Tomorrow or the next day, yes - if anyone wishes to post before then, then do have at it.
Yeah, it's all good; I'll wait the Bretons and then get us going again.
@The Wyrm Honestly not sure how Roderick could guess Beastmen from essentially nothing/no tangible clues, but I'll allow it anyway. I'll try to keep time in Schartenfeld down, so we meet them all the sooner.
