Ever make a mistake so bad, that it hurts every time you just think of it? Ever wish you could go back in time and fix everything so you didn't hurt the one who matters most? Yeah, me too.

Do not go gentle into that good night
By: Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I think the packs should go to whoever wants it 'cause rule of fun.

There is always this...

Though if somebody who didn't have to poof away for a bit wants one, I can give mine up since I did have to bounce temporarily!
@Jasonhero Its true, heavy hitters are already intended to f sh up. But a melee combatant that cannot reach the target is nothing but a decoy, adding ranged weapons gives them options. Also, melee frames tend to be lighter, so the added weight would be less a detractor compared to a heavy unit getting heavier. It is like going from Medium to Heavy, instead of Heavy to Extra Heavy. I understand your argument, and it appears to be a bit of a moot point as Mox doesn't want one anyways.

I am still willing to give mine up if we think using my stealth is a better option over going heavy assault if someone else wants it.

Also, as this is all extra, modular equipment, I assume that it could be dropped in the event of needing the extra speed for some reason. I.E. Shield generator is toast, out of propellant, out of ammunition, so lets just drop those pieces of unusable stuff and get the speed advantage back.

You make a good point there, I will concede. However, I think the heavies with extra firepower should (Willing to bet the alien asshats have something up their sleeves >.>) draw most of the attention. Giving the melee guys a chance to get in close. Not to mention, we could also resort to just clearing you a path. But I think both arguements have strong merit here. I'm a little curious to who's plan the others think we should roll with (Heavies or Non-Heavies take the packs).

My personal opinion is that stealthing might be our best idea for you. If we can draw attention and get their asses focused on us, perhaps you/some others could stealth on in and snag the target while Cruxi are focusing on the rest of us? Dunno, just a thought from me.

As for shedding what is useless, I can get behind that. But I'm unsure how these packs are made, as they might not allow for that.

So... uh... GM peoples, would we be able to shed useless stuff like he suggested?
@Ammokkx I'll wait to hear what Ariamis has to say. Any engineer who graduated college, or even got past his first year would likely be intelligent enough to see the easy fix.

But like I said several times before, if you guys want it toned down. I will tone it down, just say the word.
<Snipped quote by Jasonhero>

Gm's final call. Also, every Framewerk has thrusters capable of space movement. It's in the OP.

Yes, but the assault pack adds mass to be moved. It makes sense to add thrusters from an engineering standpoint. It would make very little sense to not add those and lose maneuverability, when you can add them in for quite cheap (speaking about my mono-propellent ones here.) And keep the maneuverability. Thus increasing the chance of survival for the much more expensive frame utilizing the assault pack.

Still. If it's gonna bother you, I can remove those and downsize the assault pack, no problem. (Cause like you said, that much stuff would make the mech super slow. They wouldn't hand out assault packs that big without extra thrusters.)
@Ammokkx Depends on the kind of assault pack. The thrusters on mine, in particular, are there because traditional forms of movement don't work as well in space, not to mention they're to be used to balance against recoil from the bigger weapons onboard. (Predator Cannon, I'm looking at you).

That being said, if you'd feel more comfortable with me lightening the load on the assault pack, I'd be happy to do so.
@Ammokkx Yeah but thrusters and stuff that doesn't add much mass.
@Mr Rage I'd argue the heavy frames such as Ribasu should roll the Assualt Packs.

Reasoning for me saying this is simple;

The heavier frames should have heavier armor by nature, and thus able to take more of pounding than others. Toss in a couple extra shields on the assault packs, and you up that. Then, naturally, with the extra weapons we have onboard we would definitely draw attention as rather big threats. Get attention on us, should lighten up the load on the others who are trying to get close. Not to mention we could probably disable a few turrets.

@Jasonhero
So assault packs should me made for focused carnage, not stuff that will rip the place in half, like your moon killer.

Moon Killer could actually prove to be useful here. I'm sure it'd be pretty hard for any reinforcements to help out if they're blown in half ^^.

Not to mention, disabling the station's power systems has merit. Granted that could cause it to 'splode, but a well placed shot could make them just floating dead in space.

Anywho, I personally believe that the heavy frames should get the assault packs and do what we do best; fucking shit up.

But I'll leave it to you guys. If most of you think assault packs should go to others, that works with me as well.

In the event I do get one of those sweet assault packs;

@Ariamis I've got nothing but time this weekend, so awesome!

Question, how much extra weaponry, and what kind are we talking here? Cause I can brainstorm up some absolute carnage stuff...
"Two assault packs are cleared for use by the unit in the mission, but according to R&D they have not been optimized, and so will considerably slow down Framewerk mobility if equipped. Steinman, choose the pilots who will be equipped with these packs."

...

Can I call dibs on one of these? I should actually be able to come back, since posting rate isn't terribly quick here usually. So uh....

Gimme!
I have a head cold, canceled all plans for the day. I was hoping that there might be something here for me to post to today, but alas. Oh well, I'll just play overwatch for more than an hour today, maybe.
