Edit: I see where you might have been mistaken with the comment about racist slurs. That is a holdover from the rules having been used in a lot of other rps and not specific for this rp, but is just a general rule of thumb.
Location: New Rome - Coffee Shop Skills: Oath Binding
Niah finished her drink and gave a smile to Madalyne thankful that she was willing to go. "Thank you." The fantastic hot drink was refreshing. Niah was okay with the red tape. It made it so kids wouldn't wander off thinking just anyone could be heroes. However, she would like to just get this all over with. They likely wouldn't even get out of camp until tomorrow morning.
"Wait what?" Niah blinked at Nancy as she made her demand. She had to know that Niah didn't like making oaths and here Nancy was making her swear on her own life. But a part of Niah's memory clicked as she thought about it. Nancy and Mads had been found in a hotel in Las Vegas. Something awful must have happened. The way Nancy was staring into Niah's very soul.
Could she do it? Was this something Niah could promise? Quests tended to be chaotic and getting to Mount Rushmore...well they could go around the entire state of Nevada just to be safe. And the Oath was just for this quest. Her stomach twisted and she wished she still had some tea left. To buy herself some time she fake sipped at it. "I..." She froze. So much of her last few years had been avoiding making Oaths, especially of this magnitude. Niah closed her eyes breaking contact with Nancy. Then took a deep breath, reopened her eyes and looked back at Nancy. "I swear." She could feel magic gathering around her gently. "To not step foot in Las Vegas or a casino on this quest." The magic tightened and she knew the Oath was complete, and she hated doing it.
"Let's get this over with." She put her empty cup away and left the cafe. Her hands shaking.
"Just a chai for me." Niah said when asked what she wanted. She tapped her foot and was trying to keep her thoughts organized. There were many at Camp she'd want to go with her. And they weren't wrong, she would need two others joining her. It was an obvious sort of thing that it should be Nancy and Mads, but she could understand if they didn't want to go. If she had the choice she wouldn't want to.
"Not sugar coating are you, and I'm barely a Centurion. I think they promoted me for formality rather than actual ability to lead." Niah gave Nancy a wry grin. Not that she minded the honesty. She preferred that. Honesty was a good trait to have. There was something about lying, while not directly related to Oaths, that Niah hated. It was just a bit too close for comfort in her opinion. Even if she had no 'power over it' so to speak.
She did, however, mind the rank. That had happened very reluctantly on her part. And she had not stopped hearing 'power should go to a reluctant ruler', which she normally wanted to counter with, 'yes but that person should actually be good at leading'. The last time she had said that though her counterpart in the second cohort and said smoothly that she was good a leading if she'd stop letting her own brain get in her way.
"Would you two go with me?" She finally asked. "If the Senate would allow it, and I suppose if the Auguries don't disagree." Niah didn't see herself as much of a leader, but if she were with two others of equal rank it would make the quest a bit smoother. She could then take their advice with less side-eyes. This did not help that it would be Niah's first quest. What kind of leader was on their first quest after two years at camp? "We would be a well-balanced team I think. Magic badassery, general badassery and me."
This is still open! Since so far no one is interested in making multiple characters I am willing to have a few more than originally planned. However, there are mostly male spots left.

Niah had turned over her invisible sword. She wasn't one to carry weapons much, which was probably why her sword was invisible as long as it was on her back. Its weight was reassuring, and not having it made her a little nervous. Though, someone would have to be suicidal to start a fight in New Rome.
"Thanks Mads." Niah said when Madalyne said she would get the drinks. She was thankful for the cup in her hands when Nancy confirmed what she had feared. She was the one who had to go to Mount Rushmore. Niah took a deep drink from it. And then asked, "You said 'dragon' as well. Uh, is that something I should be particularly concerned about." She had accepted she was going on the quest no matter how much she wanted to fight it. A prophecy was a prophecy.
[color=0080ff]"Like is this dragon just being chill and holding the gem for me to show up? Or is it gonna be particularly angry that I want it back?]/color] She felt like she was babbling. "Sorry, I know you probably can't answer that...and it is probably not a nice dragon. Nothing is that easy is it?" She could dream.
"Okay, important question. Do you know who I am to go with? Or can I choose?" She already knew she would choose the two of them if she could. Sometimes quests had special requirements though. She certainly didn't want to be surprised with 'oh you have to go with Donald'.

You have woken in a strange room. You remember your name, but not how you got into this place. As you search your memory you can't find any information about yourself, except your name.
Upon examination, of the room, you will find a dresser, a nightstand, a small room off to the side that is a bathroom. The bed you are in is set into the wall which slopes over so there is no sharp edge.
The bathroom has the basic amenities (toilet, shower, sink). In the shower is basic shampoo, conditioner and body wash the dispensers are built into the wall. Under the sink is spare tp, and feminine hygiene products if needed. There is a mirror over the sink which opens to reveal an empty medicine cabinet.
In the room, the dresser contains several identical outfits, reminiscent of hospital scrubs, light blue pants, and white top. Enough for a week. And two sets of PJs, differing in only they are looser and softer material. As well as appropriate undergarments.
The nightstand has a small lamp. And two drawers. In one of the drawers is {Redacted}.
There appears to be no other way out of the room. You are alone.

Applications:
Post the CS in the OOC for review.
Change the color code to a unique one (i.e. not in use by a current character). Please try to avoid colors that are very similar to the eye as well.
Choose a face claim for your character that is not currently in use - if you're not sure if someone is using that FC, ask the GM. Face claims must be real-life images - not drawings.
The GM can refuse a concept for any reason, yet will generally work with you to fix up the character until they can be accepted.
GM approved character sheets should be posted in a hider in the Char tab.
The GM will check posting history / previous RPs - you've been warned. If this is your first RP on the guild please PM the GM and they will work with you.
Under Extras in your CS please post a link to a post you have done in the past to show you have read the rules. If You submit a CS without this it may be declined.

No use of racial slurs in posts. Sure, you may be playing a racist white guy from the 1950s, so just use asterisks - you'll convey the same idea.
Nudity needs to be run by the GM before posting. In general, this is PG-13 when it comes to romance, sexual interactions, exposure, and so forth... Violence wise, anything goes. This can get gross.
Fade to black for things that verge into the area of smut/other taboo subjects. Seriously. Your post will be deleted otherwise.
No god-modding. Your characters have weaknesses. In order to hit another character, you have to ask the GM for a roll. It will be done fairly following a system similar to d&d.
No bunnying without express permission. The GM must see the permission given.
No Meta-gaming. If you think your character might know something ask for a roll. If your character fails to roll or has no reason to know the thing they do not know it.
The world and NPCs and events are controlled by the GM. If the GM says it's raining, then it's raining. Results will be randomized similar to D&D.
Posting & General Behavior
Follow all of the rules of the forum - they're the law of the land.
If you need an extension or you're struggling - or even if you just aren't certain what to do - please reach out to the GM! Communication is key.
You must post once every 7 days - once your last post on RPG reads as 8 days ago you will be removed from the RP.
If you need an extension, ask!! Extensions should be requested no later than when your last post reads as 6 days ago. If an emergency comes up on day 7, of course, come and talk to us - we'll be more than happy to work something out. It's very rare that an extension request is denied.
You may NOT copy and paste something from someone else's post and add it to your own. This includes dialogue.
Minimal 2 posts between your last, and a GM post
No editing posts without GM approval.
Each post should include two well-developed paragraphs (please don't make me define how many sentences are in a paragraph. If they're long sentences, then sure 5 is fine - if they're shorter, maybe 15 is best).
Read all posts! Seriously, people are reading yours so spread the love and read theirs!
No tagging for interactions in your post - people use this as a crutch usually to get away with not reading everything.
Other:
Character deaths will happen, no one is safe - it will be randomized and you will be notified when your death approaches. (This does not mean you are out of the RP, it will mean however you need to make a new character should you wish to continue - I recommend having Back-Up Characters Ready (There will be a story reason for me to work them in. I promise.)
Add in Extra information your favorite character from a space-related show or movie
The GM reserves the right to make decisions as to how much additional time, if any, will be granted to post if the forum is glitching. A week to post is plenty of time even if the forum glitches a day or two. But usually, I do tend to be pretty generous about it...
Rules and character sheet will be added to and changed as need be depending on problems or points that come up.
There will be no strikes. If the GM feels you're willfully breaking the rules or being antagonistic you will be kicked from the RP.

The Ship
There is no timekeeping device. Periodically a robotic voice will speak over a PA system. That's encouraging, that means there's more to the ship then the few rooms you've seen. At least you hope.
The lights through the ship seem to auto-detect movement, turning off after thirty minutes of inactivity in an area.
The ship seems to have silent engines if they are even running. There is some sense of automated things running behind the scenes, such as the Galley

When clothing is left in the room it disappears and returns washed and folded the next day.
A hall with six identical doors on either side. At the ends are identical pairs of double doors. One set leads to the atrium, the other to the galley. DO NOT leave your room until the door to exit in your room appears. This will take only a round of posting. From the Galley to the dorm hall the even rooms are on the right-hand side, and the odd-numbered rooms are on the left side.
This room has a garden and the large windows that look out into the void of Space. This will be the first place a character knows they are in space. This room is the exception to the auto-lights. The lights in here cycle, and are the closest you have to a clock.
The garden itself is massive. Within it, you can find *almost* any plant you'd want to. Many are edible. There are massive trees and an orchard with several types of fruit, as well as a vineyard. The Atrium garden seems immaculately maintained, and yet you never see something caring for it.
Gentle paths crisscross through the Atrium and even crosses a babbling brook. How does one get a working river in a space ship? That is unclear. The source of the river itself is inaccessible.
This room is just as it sounds. A classic cafeteria. It is small, and seats just the twelve of them. There appears to nobody who runs it, except maybe unseen robots and servitors. The food is dispensed through a touch screen menu. Most food is available, if you want something strange please run it by the GM first.
