Hello there,

I've been forum RPing for about 13 years; got started on lavendereyes.net, which was a Forgotten Realms/Drizzt Do'Urden fansite, before moving to the old roleplayerguild.com! I've also dabbled in RPing in a few MMO's like Champions Online, SWTOR, and WoW but forum adventures are definitely my preference. I like just about any kind of RP in high-casual and advanced, based on whatever mood I'm feeling (typically high-fantasy, sci-fi, and/or certain fandoms). I love writing and do think of RPing as a way to develop my character and scene writing skills, which basically means I'm always looking for realistic and fluid ways for my characters to learn, grow, and develop over the course of an adventure. I don't ship my characters but do occasionally allow them to fall into a relationship, if they are naturally guided in that direction.

You can take a look at some of my saved characters here, if it interests you.

I also have a deviantart page, though I hardly ever update it.

Thanks for reading! I'm always up for a good chat.

Sorta the name of the game with RPs. 95% die within a week, 4% last a few months, and the last 1% last a long while through multiple arcs (those are always the best).

Akira someone managed to clear the crowds, though he could still hear the faint cries in the distance. People really weren't taking this whole 'trapped in a death-game' thing very well and he couldn't blame them. This man, Kayaba, was surely some sort of psychopath and if he ever managed to escape he would see that his father used every resource available to ruin the game developer and everyone associated with him.

If he escaped.

The thought was not a pleasant one and Akira felt his heart-rate increase at the prospect of facing creatures far worse than boars with nothing but a virtual knife and his wits. 'No.' He steadied himself, his mouth drawing into a thin line of determination. 'Even my wits would be enough.' In a way, Kayaba was the same as his own father; a man bent on forcing others into his vision and one with enough power to make it so. The comparison brought a taste of bile into his mouth and the young man knew he would not surrender to these people who sought to control him. He was the one who would be in control. He was smarter, he was faster, he was better and he would not so easily submit to his own death; physically or mentally.

Akira passed through the gate and once again stepped out into the open fields around the starter city, though in the fading light the muted colors seemed far more intimidating than before. He wasn't sure exactly how the game's day/night cycle worked, though he did see it appeared to be based on real-time, but he suspected he'd find more than just boars out there once the darkness really settled in. He was debating on the best course of action when a voice suddenly drew his attention. It was a tall brown-haired man, close in age to himself by his appearance, and Akira's dark eyes quickly sized him up before responding in a calm and collected manner, so well spoken it sounded like someone reading from a script. "Yes, well I certainly expect to receive quite a bit of... compensation after this." This person, 'Dar' as he was called, could be exactly what he needed to get out of the city and ahead of the general mess of other players. "Geist." He said with a slight bow of his head. "In times like these ignorant people tend to react negatively to the situation, and I was hoping to get away from that as quickly as possible... Do you happen to know where the next, eh... 'level' of this game is? Another town, perhaps?" Geist cursed himself for his lack of understanding video game lingo and SAO's overall structure; if he'd known he'd be trapped he'd have done a sufficient amount of research so as not be ill-prepared when dealing with these sorts of people. Of course, if he'd known he'd be trapped he probably wouldn't have played the game to begin with.

@Grayscythe
Um...
You can't actually click the crystal, since ... you would have to be standing at the Frenzied Boar to do that
Also, the only information you can see, is the name of the enemy above the crystal
The color of the crystal will give an indication of the monster's level, based on your level (Red = same level, darker = higher level, lighter = lower level)

EXP and col I think will be moderated and monitored for levels and stuff.
(Discussing the details with Caits)
(Don't worry, you don't need to remember what your exp is, and how much you need to level and all the calculations and stuff, it will be just rough work, so you don't just suddenly jump more than you should be and things like that
(We will just check things like, okay, you just reached level 3, but you only killed 6 lower leveled monsters and are trying to say you reached level 4, the exp from that monster should not be enough to get close for example)

That's fine, just removed it and the XP/Col/items were more flavor-text than anything. I noticed the intro OOC said we could start anywhere up to lvl 3? I'm assuming that it's fine that Akira is level 2 as he progressed much slower in the opening hours because he has no idea what he's doing.
Name: Sevrin Crillden
Nickname(s): Sev
Gender: Male
Age: 11
House: Ravenclaw

Appearance: Sev is a squirrely young boy with bright, intelligent grey eyes and short oak-brown hair. His features are soft and boyish, clearly showing his age, and fit well around his crooked smile and his limbs are thin and wispy. When out of his uniform, Sev often wears casual clothes of the era; faded, hole-filled jeans, graphic T-shirts, and a bright red zip-up hoodie.

Wand: 12.5 inches of surprisingly squishy Alder wood with a Dragon heartstring core.
Pet: Feris the Ferret, a slightly larger-than-average and incredibly intelligent albino ferret.

Strengths:
Dexterity – Sev has spent a lot of time practicing basic wand motions (only with twigs and sticks, of course), even before entering Hogwarts, and has excellent hand-to-eye coordination. He is able to pick up fine twists and flicks faster than most students.
Quick Reflexes – Hours spent balancing on crumbled stone walls and fallen trees , pretending to battle dark wizards and monsters of every shape and size has given Sev excellent reaction time.
Natural Herbalist – Though not a passion per se, Sev’s mother was an exceptional gardener and herbalist and was able to implant much of her knowledge and expertise into Sev from an early age. It also helped that he grew up in the country, away from all hubs of civilization, and so spent a lot of his time as a child out on the moors.

Weaknesses:
Short tempered – sometimes it doesn’t take much to push Sev over the edge and he’ll be sure to let you know it.
Poor student – Despite his determination to follow in his father’s footsteps, Sev is not a very good visual or auditory learner. It takes considerable effort to grasp written material and to put his mind into a mode suitable for long hours of studying. He will likely need special tutoring to acceptably pass all of his classes.

Personality: Sevrin is often quiet and reserved, until he gets to know somebody, taking the time to observe the people and places around him before making any decisions on how to behave. Once he opens up he can be very friendly but slightly awkward as it becomes clear he hasn’t had too many close friends in his life. He is clever, though quick to act, and always has his mind set on his own personal goals. Sev is very protective of animals and of people who can’t defend themselves and won’t stand for the abuse of either. Though he appears to be a bit of a loner, deep down he strongly desires to find a group of friends.

History:
Sevrin was born in north England, in a small town called Slingsby, northeast of York. His mother, JoAnna is a muggle, a primary school teacher, and his father, Marten, is an Auror of small renown; they had met in York while he was investigating a rogue wizard who was murdering muggles in a gruesome manner. He had saved her life and they quickly fell in love and, after being married, they moved north into the country for a ‘quiet life’.
Sevrin was their first child, though they’ve since had one more, and they were delighted to learn of his wizarding ability. He’d grown up in both the worlds and had even attended the muggle primary school, though he never quite felt like he fit in with the children there, and most teachers thought him (and his parents) a bit too eccentric with his ‘imagination’. From his earliest memories, Sev had always wanted to follow his father as an Auror; going head to head with dark wizards in amazing duels; and so when he received his letter from Hogwarts he was overjoyed. Marten had been a Gryffindor and spoke highly of his house, though he never explicitly pushed for Sev to try and be sorted there. Sev took these teachings to heart, for it wasn’t often he and his father shared a real heart-to-heart as the man was often too busy with work.

NPCs:
Marten Crillden (Father)– An Auror of small renown, he is one of the chief investigators of the Yorkshire department and handles many of the cases involving dark wizards and witches in that area. He is an expert on forbidden magic, particularly those with pagan/druidic roots, and can speak 7 different languages. He graduated from Hogwarts in 1994, earning his Auror license 3 years later and survived the Second Wizarding War though he earned a large scar across the left side of his throat.

JoAnna Crillden (Mother)– Muggle born, she grew up in north York and attended university in the city, earning her primary school teachers license. Her natural beauty merely accentuates her kind heart and cheerful spirit and she holds a deep love for all living things. During her late university years there was a string of violent murders on and around her school campus, while the muggle news reported the possibility of a serial killer they couldn’t explain the strange nature of some of the deaths and their investigation was going nowhere. It was one night later that year, three days before the winter solstice, when she was ambushed on the street and kidnapped. She was held for over 48 hours by the deranged wizard who planned on using her as a sacrifice but was eventually rescued by a squad of Auror’s led by Marten. While he did wipe her mind at first, as was protocol, he found himself being drawn to her beauty and personality during his follow-ups and they eventually fell in love. She has since had her ‘eyes opened’ to the magical world she never knew existed and delights in learning about all the strange people and creatures of their world.
For the sake of making this easy, let's assume Geist is at the gate or just leaving the town and would therefore not yet be in a position to meet Asuna and group. :)

And there was much rejoicing... ('yaay...') :)
“Mum, please…” Sevrin mumbled, attempting to wriggle out of his mother’s hug but her arms were like steel as she embraced her only child on his first day as a Hogwarts student.

“Oh, I’m sorry lad…” She sniffled in her thick northern accent made even worse by her overflowing emotions. She wiped a small tear from her red eyes as she released him, nervously adjusted the ruffles on her flower-patterned blouse before standing up straight, heels together; the perfect model of a primary school teacher. “I jus’ can’t believe me own boy’s goin’ t’beh a wizard! Ye goin’ t’ave so much fun! Maybe y’should give y’mutha anothah hug jus’ f’road.”

“That’s enough, JoAnna…” His father smiled, as he put a comforting arm around his wife. “He’s not so much a boy anymore, is he?” The large, physically imposing Auror that was his father spoke in a calm, dignified way that was quite surprising for his stature as he leaned down onto his knee so that his dark eyes could meet Sevrin’s grey ones, the same eyes as his mother. “You’re going to do great things, Sevrin… Don’t forget your goals and stay focused on your school work.” He put a large hand on the boy’s shoulder, the sheer weight of it causing his small frame to sway. “Oh, and don’t forget to make some good friends while you’re at it!” With a hearty chuckle he embraced his son and then pushed the cart to the edge of the platform where the ruby-red Hogwarts Express was letting off steam. Feris squeaked excitedly, bouncing around his cage atop the small pile of trunks and bags, clearly wanting to be let out to explore this new and exciting place as the train attendants helped lift the trolley through the train car doors.

Turning back to his parents who stood together on the platform, Sevrin finally offered them a small smile. “I’ll make y’proud… Ah’promise!” He found a seat in the first year’s car and waved to them as the train slowly pulled away from the station, quickly wiping away the moisture in his eyes before anyone could notice. Sevin rode the majority of the way in silence, though he did make a bit of small talk with those nearest him until they lost all interest. He heard the shouts as chaos erupted in the car next to his own but only caught the tail end of the fight as the window between their cars suddenly frosted over. Before long a handful of shivering students were led out of the car by a few teachers with annoyed expressions. “Well that din’ tek long…”

The hills rolled by for several hours, little more than green grass and English countryside much like that which surrounded his hometown, and after a time staring at the sights Sevrin drifted off. He awoke gently as his body felt the train begin to slow and a quick glance showed the other first years gathering their things as the last rays of orange-red sunlight streamed in through the window. He stepped off the train onto the Hogwarts platform and followed the crowd of nervous first-years as the teachers led them down to the docks. The dark water rushed past as their longboat skimmed silently over the surface of the lake as Sevrin leaned over the edge, his bright eyes reflecting off the water as he was overcome by the feeling of something watching them from those murky depths. They rounded a bend and his trance was broken by the gasps of the students around him and as he looked up he couldn’t help but join them. The ancient castle rose before them, its spires piercing high into the deep red sky and standing vigilant over the lake and forests that stretched on all around. Hogwarts!

It would be his second home for the next seven years.

He jumped out of the boat as it parked beside the castle docks, his suddenly animated movements betraying his nervousness, and followed the teacher who led them into the twisting stone halls of the school. They entered the great hall, already awash with sound and activity as the older students had already arrived and taken their seats. Sevrin could see the banners drifting above each group, the symbols of each house his father had familiarized him with a week before, but he was led to a small barren table near the front of the hall; clearly placed for first years yet to be sorted. One by one they were called up, the strange crumbled hat shouting out their placements followed by a roar of excitement from the welcoming house. Sevrin was towards the end of the list and as he took his seat upon the stool he became afraid that the several hundred students staring eagerly at him would be able to hear his heartbeat pounding in his chest. The musty hat slipped over his ears and suddenly drowned out the milling sounds of the hall, leaving Sev in muffled silence.

But not so silent as he would have thought.

‘Oh my, oh my! The son of Marten Crillden, if I’m not mistaken! And I’m not, oh no no, for I can see the same spark in you, my boy.’

The Sorting Hat spoke in such a way that Sevrin couldn’t decide if it was whispering in his ear or straight into his mind but he answered all the same. “Spark?”

‘Yes! That spark of courage! It’s one that values justice and friendship above all things! Your father did well in Gryffindor, and has done great things since! Perhaps you’d like to follow along his path, hmm?’

Sevrin’s held his breath at the remark, the thought of being an Auror like his father shining brilliantly in his mind, but for the first time there was something else too; a sort of hesitation at the thought of being exactly like his father.

’Ah… but there’s something else too… Your mother’s given you a few gifts of her own, I see. A muggle, yes, but no less brilliant than any great wizard and don’t let anyone convince you otherwise! Perhaps you’re realizing now that there are many paths to a destination… and I think your path will be one of your own making! And what better place to start that path than…

“RAVENCLAW!”

Sevrin blinked in surprise as the hat was slipped off and the roar of the blue and bronze table filled the Great Hall. He stepped down beneath their banners to a myriad of congratulations and friendly greetings with a reserved smile on his face, his mind still twirling around what the old and wise hat had said.
I think Potions could be fun... :D
@PKMNB0Y It's no worry. I'll make a small edit that has Akira actually leaving the actual city and my next post will continue off of @Asuna Yuuki's. :)
I dun posted ma intro.

I enjoyed it. It is hard work, tough, but it's worthwhile. I enjoyed it, and wished I could have continued, but after my grad year...well health is in a bad way here and there just isn't enough jobs for 1500 graduates

I get that feeling. I tried to find a job in Foster Care after I graduated (with a Child Psych degree) but spent almost a full year unemployed (and in part time stuff) before finally packing up everything I owned and moving out of the US. XD
