Hiro remained silent as most of the assembled youths bickered, petty issues being raised. Truth be told, Hiro had no idea what to do in this situation. In the past while working for SHIELD, any disputes between the young researchers were settled quickly by the senior overseers of the program. So this chaotic mess of powered individuals was something that bewildered Hiro.

But as Hiro waited silently, he noticed that the feathered kid was staring at him intently, almost with a look of adoration. Seeing as the kid appeared to be like eleven, Hiro assumed that he was interested in the power suit. Hiro did have to admit that it was pretty cool, though he didn’t agree with the Power Ranger comment. While a small child Hiro had watched Super Sentai, the original form of Power Rangers, back in his home in Japan, and always thought that the Iron Man armor was cooler.

It was then that Tony Stark interrupted the others, transforming into his Iron Man armor, and starting a round of introductions. The Prince of Wakanda then spoke, his thick accent reminding of a fellow researcher he knew at SHIELD who was from Wakanda. But that memory was interrupted by Mr. Stark giving a speech about the potential of the team, offering two of the more villainous teens the option of working together or off to jail.

Ashe then elected to not head back to prison, so she would work with the team. Next up was Songbird who immediately revealed that she had a villainous past, something which Hiro knew took courage. But the next person to speak, Nathaniel, also had villain parents. Except his were people that Hiro had heard of, the infamous Joker and Harley Quinn. Hiro had heard many scary stories of the pair, and even Robin didn’t like talking too much about them. But Hiro decided to be more cautious than fearful of the young man, as he did seem to want to be a hero.

Hiro was then amused by the apparent bickering that Michael was having with his symbiote. It wasn’t that strange for Hiro as he had researched an actual symbiote at SHIELD. Hiro thought it best to not mention this to Michael and Viral. This duo was followed up by Chie, or Shuriken if they were using their hero names. She mentioned that her mother was an agent of SHIELD. This interested Hiro as he too used to work for SHIELD. He made a mental note to ask her about it later.

Then the small child spoke, his attention now on Viral once he realized that he was an alien. Apparently he was also an alien, with a mother from Chandilar, which Hiro remembered was the throne world of the Shi’Ar Empire. Hiro wondered how Sai’s mother had chosen Earth of all the planets to come to, before learning that she was part of Excalibur, one of the many regional superhero teams around the world.

But as Hiro digested all this information, he realized that he hadn’t introduced himself. There was a brief silence as Hiro fidgeted on his feet, gripping hard on the helmet of his power suit. But eventually he found the words.

“Like I said, my name is Hiro, Hiro Okamura. Or Iron Lad if we are talking business, though I may still change that name. Anyways I was a youth researcher at SHIELD for several years, before being kidnapped by a future version of myself, the Avengers villain Kang. Basically he was taking me around the time line, trying to groom me into becoming him one day. But I eventually escaped, stealing this suit. But I kind of miscalculated my time jump and ended up three years in the future. At least it was three years for you guys, but one for me. I don’t know, time travel is weird. So the short of it is that I’m trying to become a hero to make sure I don’t grow up to be a supervillain,” Hiro stated quickly, speaking each thought as it came to his mind.

Tony Stark then began to speak again, forbidding alcohol at the tower. He then sent a swarm of nano machines at the assembled youths. Apparently they were supposed to design rooms for themselves at the tower. Hiro immediately jumped in, swiping the swarm as he designed the perfect room for him. He immediately decided that it had to be better than his quarters when he was working with SHIELD. Hiro started simple, painting the walls white with a wood floor. Next he added a queen sized bed, one much bigger than he had ever had before. Next up was a massive 4K TV mounted on the wall, situated right across from the bed. Hiro then added in all the newest video game consoles, as he had missed three years worth of games during his time with Kang.

Next Hiro added a large walk in closet, a basic dresser underneath the TV, and a bathroom with a shower in it, not bothering with a bathtub. The remaining wall space in the room was covered in shelfing that would function as a library. Manga and sci-fi novels had also progressed since Hiro disappeared, so he wanted to catch up. Content with his design, Hiro looked up at Mr. Stark.

“I’m assuming that these designs will be replicated by large nano machine swarms who will literally build up the rooms?” Hiro asked, “Because that would be amazing.”

The half-elf nodded as Madeline gave her thoughts on the reason for this apparent suicide attack. If this attack wasn’t intended but was instead a magical mishap, then why did they specifically come to the OMR office? Was this man fighting against the enchantment to get some help, and had come to the OMR for help?

Speaking of the dead man, the police identified him as one Friedrich Raimund, a senior member of a local bank. That did track with him being an ideal target of mind control, as there was the obvious money angle. But the police also mentioned that he was in charge of German and Dutch operations, meaning that he probably had contacts throughout Europe. Perhaps he was being involved in using these connections to smuggle things. If that was the case, then this whole attack on the office could be a way of getting rid of the accomplice.

But if that was the case, why didn’t they just have him commit suicide with one of the guns at his apartment? Unless, Avi thought, the reason he did it at the OMR was to send a message. Was this Mr. X trying to tell the agents that they weren’t safe anywhere? Avi’s mind spiraled into a deep hole of theories and connections as he considered all the clues they had uncovered.

Avi’s thoughts on what went on at his apartment naturally led to him wanting to inspect it. Luckily for him, Madeline received permission from the police to search it and was given an address. The demoness then turned to Avi and Morgana and offered them a chance to inspect the penthouse with her. Morgana immediately agreed before Avi could say anything.

“I will also come. I’ll admit this incident has me a little riled up and I don’t think I’d be able to sit and read more documents,” Avi answered.

What the half-elf said was the truth, as he still held his wand with a firm grip. Avi was also rattled by the idea of the man’s magical tattoos and how they controlled him. Something about a lose of control was deeply disturbing to the half-elf. But it was his job to deal with such things and he realized that he needed to suck it up and continue with his investigation.

The Torch

As Jim whistled the old radio jingle, the doors to the situation room opened and a familiar wall-crawler entered. Jim had met this particular hero before, though his current costume was different than the last time they had met up. Truth be told Jim preferred the old brighter red costume, but black was always cool, especially if Spidey was going through a mid-life crisis. Jim had read about that being a thing in men of a certain generation, and he figured that Spider-Man was in that age range.

“Peter, it’s nice to see you. It’s been a few years right?” Jim asked, “I’m doing OK. I actually moved into the mansion here.”

And speaking of spider people, a young heroine that Jim didn’t recognize entered the situation room. She introduced herself as Ghost-Spider and seemed intently focused on Peter, claiming she took inspiration from him. This didn’t seem to odd to Jim as that Johnny Storm guy had taken inspiration from him.

“No you’re not late. We’re still waiting for Captain America to appear via holo.”

Then another young hero entered, also focusing heavily on Spider-Man. Jim just smiled at the web-head’s popularity, the most well loved man in New York. I mean it did help that he had a lot of exposure, being one of the first hero in this new age of heroes. The young man with the cape then introduced himself as Billy or Wiccan.

“You use whatever name is comfortable for you, as secret identities vary from person to person. Personally everyone knows that I’m the Torch but my civilian name is Jim Hammond.”

Then another young hero that Jim didn’t know zipped into the situation room, clearly a speedster. He made a few jokes, mentioning that it was either juvie or the Avengers for him.

“Well, we should get started soon.”

But then finally another hero that Jim recognized entered. It was Iron Fist, a former Avenger. He didn’t say anything as he took a seat, putting his feet on the centre table. Jim gave him a simple nod, having only met him in passing a while back. And then another hero that Jim knew, this one a little better, entered the room. It was Captain Marvel and she was making a joke about calling in the big guns.

Before anyone could respond, the holo-generator in the middle of the table came to life. A blue light illuminated the room as the familiar face of Director Rogers appeared. Even through the transmission, it was clear that he was tired and needed a shave. But his eyes still shone as he regarded the assembled Avengers.

“This is a direct mission report from Director Rogers,” the hologram said, “Normally I’d meet with you in person, but we are swamped with work here on the Avenger-1 Helicarrier. I see that not everyone has arrived, but timing is essential for this op and they can be brought up to speed along the way. As all of you know, we’ve been busy trying to stomp out the last remnants of Hydra and we have had little success. That was until two days ago when one of our techs found a chat service hidden on the dark web. Upon further analysis it seems to be a virtual dead drop for Hydra agents.”

“This is the best lead we’ve had since the initial capture of Hydra leadership eight months ago. We’ve been able to pinpoint where several high ranking members of Hydra have been hiding. So I’m mobilizing all Avengers teams to bring them in. This include the New York branch. The target is Ophelia Sarkissian, better known as Madame Hydra.”

An image of a green haired woman popped up in the corner of the holo. While Jim didn’t recognize her immediately, he did recognize the title Madame Hydra. That moniker had been used by many evil women, going all the way back to World War II. This was clearly a dangerous person who needed to be captured.

“We now know that she is going by the alias Viper and operating as a mercenary. We also have reports that she has taken over the Serpent Society, a mercenary/terrorist group of augmented individuals. We are not sure how she managed this. But we have solid intel that the Serpent Society is operating is eastern Europe and will be entering Transia sometime today. Your mission is to head to Transia, and capture the Society members, with Viper being priority one.”

“We have a Quinjet waiting in the hangar bay, ready to take you to Transia. Wheel’s up in twenty minutes. Any questions you have need to be asked now as I also need to catch a flight.”

Jim then raised his hand, “Quick question Cap. I’m not really caught up on who these Serpent Society guys are, but I’m assuming pretty powerful if you are sending a whole Avengers team after them? Could I get a primer?”

“I don’t have a lot of time right now, but I’ll speak a little bit,” Rogers replied, “They started out as a group of test subjects of Roxxon Corporation, before going rogue. After that they became both mercenaries and terrorists, gathering more snake themed villains to their team. As for their current roster we are unsure of how much of the Society has changed since Viper took over. Any other information you might need can be found on the computer terminal aboard the Quinjet.”

“Thanks Cap,” Jim said as he stood up, “I’ll get prepping for the mission.”

Jim then entered the elevator, deciding to quickly run back to his bedroom. While he was already in his combat uniform, Jim felt he might as well pack a small bag if they were to be in Europe for a little bit. It was mostly snacks, a Stark Phone filled with music, and a well read paperback copy of the Time Machine by HG Wells.

Slinging the bag over his shoulder, Jim departed his room. He then began to wonder if Cap had wanted him to be the pilot of the Quinjet. While he had flown plenty of them during his days with SHIELD, Jim was not the most accomplished pilot on the team, that honor going to Captain Marvel. As he took the elevator to the hangar, Jim wondered if it was someone else, as the Avengers were now a massive organization with many non-superheroes. It would make sense that they could have other pilots.

As the elevator doors opened up to the hangar, Jim couldn’t help but smile. Even if he wasn’t the pilot, it would great to be up in the air again. There was something about soaring above the clouds that always enticed Jim. So it was with gusto that the Torch walked over to the pristine Quinjet.
Got a new post up.
Sir Kherun Zeydria

It was shortly after the call for Reon, during which time Kherun wanted to call out for Mayon, that the Boars called for a retreat. The young white-haired knight was prepared to cheer in victory for his first battle, but was interrupted by a mercenary trying to land one last blow. Luckily, Kherun noticed it is time to deflect the heavy sword. Instead of hitting his neck, the blade struck hard against the plate mail over his right arm. The force of the blow caused Kherun to drop his sword, as a great pain started in his arm.

But Kherun recovered quickly, pushing back the mercenary with the staff in his other hand. As he pushed back the mercenary, Kherun quickly knelt down to pick up his sword again. But by the time that the knight was standing again, the mercenary had fled into the tree line. Kherun breathed heavily as the pain in his arm throbbed. The young knight hoped that nothing was broken and that instead it was just a nasty bruise.

Kherun then looked over the battlefield, praying that no fellow knight had fallen in the conflict. Luckily it seemed that only the mercenaries were littering the ground. But what was interesting was that the beheaded man still stood. And even more interesting was a young man handing him back his head.

Kherun only looked away from the walking corpse when the Knight-Captain ordered her knights to end the suffering of the injured. Kherun was immediately mortified by this prospect, but he was also conflicted as he knew to obey all of the Captain’s orders. With a gulp, Kherun began surveying the field. After a few minutes, Kherun was pleased to see that everyone he had seen had already passed away. That was until Kherun heard some mutterings.

The young knight turned to see a mercenary lying on his back, bleeding from several wounds. Immediately Kherun inspected him to see if his druidic magic could save him. But as he saw how fast he was bleeding, Kherun knew he was a goner. Fanilly had ordered to them to try and get information from the wounded, but it was clear to Kherun that this man could not form sentences anymore.

“I am sorry,” said Kherun as he raised his sword, “May Mayon guide you to the afterlife.”

With nervous force, Kherun drove the sword through the man’s heart, ending his pain instantly. The young knight breathed heavily as he removed the sword, now coated in the blood of the dead man. As Kherun stood still, his horse Wedge approached him, as did the owl Watcher fly down to him. As a druid, Kherun had a link to both animals, and they could tell that he was troubled.

Watcher landed on Kherun’s shoulder as he led his horse back toward the other knights. As he neared the Knight-Captain, Kherun made sure to stand up straight, sheathing his sword, and grasping his wooden staff securely.

“I am afraid we haven’t had a proper introduction Knight-Captain,” said the white-haired knight as he walked up to Fanilly, “My name is Sir Kherun Zeydria, junior knight of the Iron Rose. And these are my familiars, Wedge and Watcher.”

At the mention of them, Wedge neighed and Watcher hooted. Somehow the animals seemed able to sense that this was an important meeting for Kherun. True enough, nerves shot up and down Kherun’s body as he met the legendary Fanilly Danballion. As he awaited a reply, Kherun kept telling himself in his mind to not screw this up.

Alright, got up a new post as Trineon.
Trineon
Lord of Rivers, Lakes, and Oceans

The water god’s mind was put at ease as Alasayana confirmed that the meat of the creature was not poisonous. As a lord of watery domains Trineon always made sure that animals were safe to eat, as many sea life were filled with poison. This mostly fish diet also meant he usually ate his meat raw and as such had no real cooking skills. Thankfully Moridax had stepped up as a chef.

Trineon found it odd that the underworld god would be the one who could cook, but he was also just glad that someone in the group knew how. It was also a positive for Trineon that Flora mentioned a plant that could help start fires. Fires were another thing that Trineon was not skilled with, as it did kind of go against him being a water god. Again he was glad that Aureia quickly found the plant.

Trineon was then prepared to grab some sticks to make a fire, but the death god beat him to it. She then produced a dagger from the corpse she was possessing, quickly whittling some sticks into spears and demanded some praise.

“I will admit that you are useful,” Trineon said to Moridax, “But let’s see if you can ignite a fire.”

As Trineon finished speaking, Flora piped in, explaining how to use the plant as ignition. The plant was squeezed over the sticks Moridax gathered, a burst of what looked like flame engulfing the sticks. With very minimal movement the sticks caught fire. Content to let Moridax to cook the strange meat, Trineon took a seat next to the fire.

For a second he allowed himself to relax. But that moment of peace was broken when the hunt goddess mentioned the birds above. Trineon looked up and sure enough there were many bird like beings watching from the tops of the trees. Trineon wondered how he had missed these possible scavengers, as in his heyday he would’ve been able to spot them from a mile away. This seemed to prove the thought he had that his full strength had yet to return to this reborn form.

“I’m not sure if they would attack us, given our numbers,” Trineon stated, “But that isn’t to say that there is not a bigger predator who would have no problem with all of us.”

The silver haired Pixie stood stiff, in complete fear as the other adventurers attacked the Dragon. It seemed that Dumas’ attempt to pay the toll had been completely ignored, as everyone threw everything they had at the lizard. This would culminate in the martial artist landing a death blow on the Dragon.

Dumas was shocked as the Dragon drooped along the snowy mountainside. Unfortunately so did the martial artist, who collapsed in exhaustion. It seemed that a good chunk of the group had been injured in the battle. Snapping out of his shock, Dumas immediately began rooting through his pockets, trying to find the right herbs for healing the wounds. But the Princess of Oberia beat him to it, healing the damage with a magic touch spell.

Seeing this, Dumas put the herbs back into his pockets, figuring that they could be of use at some other point. Plus it would make sense to keep a reserve as he would have to go back to the Pixie lands to get more. Then one of the other adventurers asked him his name.

“First off, I’m a Pixie. We’re not the same as Fairies. And second, I am Dumas, the Knight of the Deep Wood. But it is good to meet a fellow knight,” Dumas replied with a smile, “I have been dispatched from the hidden forest as I am skilled with a blade and a master of wild magic. I will assist any effort to learn about the meteor.”

After introducing himself, Dumas looked over the rest of the adventurers, taking stock of their current state. The healing magic had seemed to help those who were hurt by the Dragon, but what caught Dumas’ attention was the lady harvesting the Dragon’s body. It was a sight that he never thought that he would see as he never heard of a mortal taking down a Dragon, and even when they died naturally, their bodies are hidden from the eyes of the other races.

After he got over the novelty of the fallen Dragon, Dumas walked over to the woman, wanting to see what exactly she was taking from it. Dumas had heard that in ages past that Dragon’s fangs were worth a lot when ground up into an aphrodisiac. Dumas started to figure out how to properly ask for the woman to harvest some pieces for the Pixie, when something caught his attention from the corner of his eye.

Dumas turned to see that a much larger Dragon approaching the adventurers at a fast rate. Before he could do anything, the Dragon landed near Dumas. Now Dumas could see that there were several people riding on the back of the Dragon. Then the Dragon lowered its head, allowing the riders to slide down onto the mountain. The lady at the front of the group then began to speak. Dumas immediately recognized it as accented Pataliputran. Dumas was semi-fluent in the language, knowing all the common words and being able to speak in broken sentences.

The odd lady had greeted them then said something about not murdering anyone. But this statement did not help alleviate Dumas’ fears as the large Dragon stared at the Dragon corpse next to Dumas. Then the Dragon Knight replied in Pataliputran, also with a greeting and then asking if they were adventurers. If they were, they were some of the strangest that Dumas had ever seen. Their style of clothing was very different than Dumas had ever encountered in his travels.

Dumas took this brief distraction to slink away from the fallen Dragon, changing back into his one foot form. He felt a little bit bad over abandoning the lady who was harvesting the Dragon as the older Dragon transformed into a human form and approached her. The Dragoness then asked about how the other Dragon died, demanding the truth. As Dumas looked at the intense Dragoness, he got the feeling that she would be able to tell if the lady lied.

Dumas hoped that the alchemist would be truthful, and that the truth would be successful. Dumas highly doubted that the Gods would let them survive two Dragon encounters in one day. Instead Dumas turned to the Humans who had arrived with the Dragon. Hopefully they would be reasonable, but all Dumas could do was hope. His handle of the Pataliputran language wasn’t good enough to negotiate with these strangers.

After the little bonding meal with the team, Avi headed straight to his hotel room. The hotel itself was only a few blocks from the OMR office, easy walking distance. The room that the OMR had booked was pretty nice, nothing overly fancy. But Avi wouldn’t mind even if it was a dive, as he had slept in some pretty rough places as part of his undercover work. This proved true as he fell asleep a few minutes after lying down in bed.

The next morning Avi made sure that he woke up early, setting the alarm clock next to his bed. Avi didn’t want to arrive late for a meeting again, so he got ready quick, having a quick shower and a meal. Once he was ready he realized that he still had two hours till he was due at the office.

Avi considered the notion of doing some sight seeing, but decided against it as he wasn’t much of a tourist. Instead Avi wasted sometime watching the local news on the big box television that was sat across from his bed. Avi watched the German language news for about a half hour, finding that most of the stories were mundane. In truth he was only checking if his team’s actions had made it to the public. As Avi watched the news reports it did seem that the OMR had done a good job of keeping the incidents hushed. Avi was glad about this as public attention would only complicate his assignment. But he also knew that there was little chance that it wouldn’t eventually be revealed to the public.

Satisfied that there was nothing more of interest on the news, Avi exited the hotel and made the short walk to the OMR office. As he reached the front of the building, Avi checked his watch and saw that he was still a good deal early. When he entered the office, Avi was greeted by the same Dwarf receptionist from the day before.

“A little bit early aren’t you Mister Mosley?” the Dwarf chucked.

“I decided to get an early start on some paperwork,” Avi replied, “I assume that I’m allowed access to the documents room?”

“Right, you are. It’s just down the hall.”

Avi raised his hand to thank the Dwarf, before going over to the documents room. Avi was surprised at just how much paperwork had been recovered as he dived head first into it. However, he hadn’t gotten too far when he saw on his watch that the meeting was almost up. Sighing, Avi put down the paperwork and went to the meeting room.

Amanda was already there, with pretty much everyone entering soon after. The only one who was actually late was Faye who teleported in and gave a simple excuse. The Android team leader then announced that she was going to Minsk to follow up a lead. Surprisingly to Avi, almost everyone elected to go with her. Only Morgana said that she would stay in Frankfurt and follow up on what they discovered. Before Avi could give his opinion, Amanda requested that he stay here and assist Morgana.

This was fine for Avi has he already planned on continuing with his analysis of the documents. The majority of the team then left, heading to the airport. With only two team members remaining here at the office, Avi decided to forgo interaction and instead head silently back to the documents room.

Avi immediately dived back into what he had been reading. It was mostly order forms on guns and other illicit goods, with only the occasional magical item. Avi’s concentration was broken when Madeline, his Demon senior officer, began to ask about cults. But she didn’t get to finish her sentence as there was a massive bang. Avi followed Madeline to the nearest window where he saw a car wreck, pressed up against the office’s front door.

A man then emerged from the wreck, guns in hand. Avi’s right hand instinctively went to his wand, grasping the magical focus tightly. He followed Madeline to the front of the building where police and other OMR agents were raising their weapons at the mysterious man. The man then surprised Avi by charging at the police, who promptly unloaded a whole clip of ammunition into him. The man immediately slumped to the ground.

Avi approached the dead body, now noticing the intricate tattoos that covered his body. Morgana immediately began to analyze the shapes, a skill that Avi lacked. Apparently the man had been bewitched and given a simple command. This made sense to Avi as the man had seemed to have a blank stare and stiff movement.

Morgana then deduced that this was English witchcraft. Unfortunately this was not a realm that was he was knowledgeable about, having spent his academic years learning about ancient civilizations and illusions. So Avi figured that he would take Morgana’s word for it.

“But why send the bewitched on a suicide mission?” Avi asked, “Surely the enchanter knew that it would take more than one man with a gun to overtake the office. Maybe they just wanted to cause a scene or make a statement?”

Even though the man was dead, Avi was still weary with his wand at the ready. Whoever had enough magical power to control the man was serious business. This attack could easily be the first in a rapid assault on the OMR office. But Avi did take some comfort in the sheer number of police and agents gathered at the offices, most of them quite deadly with either a gun or staff.

Sorry about disappearing. The last month has been terrible for me with my mental health, and I am only now just doing better. I would like to continue with this RP, but I am unsure if I have been officially removed. If not then let me know and I'll get to work on a post ASAP.
