Jinny was enjoying her training. The darts had not proved to be as hard as she thought they would be. Once he taught her more steps, changing her footing and her grip, her throws got more and more accurate. She liked this. Once she was able to relax, she looked with pride at the row of ten darts in a neat line. She had done that, mostly by herself. Pride filled her spirit, and she was ready for the next task.

She rocked back and forth on her heels as Slade explained the next task. He also gave her a new word to ponder.

“Tele- kin- esis.” She hadn’t known there was such an important word for what she could make herself do. She wanted to ask him more, but the new task ahead beckoned her instead.

“Okay. Let’s see which ones I can fly.” She reached out her hands, and the subtle silvery glow surrounded the 1 pound weight. It lifted easily and didn’t even wobble. Jinny smiled with triumph and went on to the next. 2 pounds, 3 pounds, on and on. The 10 pound weight was a clear struggle, but Jinny showed some stubbornness as she got it just barely off the ground. The next was 15 pounds, and she reached out for that. The glow surrounded it, but it didn’t move.

“Come on...” She frowned, and tried harder, straining her little body. The glow increased, and then her own eyes went from brown to the same ethereal silver. The weight did not lift, but rather dragged across the ground a few inches.

“Hmph.” Jin smirked triumphantly, and then the glow faded. She blinked several times as a wave of dizziness hit her body. “I feel funny.” And she plopped right down on the ground, holding her head with a little groan. A thin trickle of blood slipped from one of her nostrils.

“Oh. I’m bleeding, Uncle.” Her voice seemed rather detached from the situation, as if she weren’t quite all there.
There were times where Kijani wished she had been born a normal woman. Just an average citizen from an average planet who didn’t have to make hard decisions. Right now was one of those times. It was as if everything was slowing, the moment stretching for eons.

She knew what she had to do. But she hated herself for it.

Without responding, she lifted her blaster and shot the stormtrooper in the throat. There was a terrible, gargled noise as he died. The second trooper had enough time to say “What-” before Kijani shot him too. She exhaled slowly. These were the kinds of choices a royal had to make.

She plucked the cell key card from one of the guards bodies. “...it’s different up close.” Was all she managed to say, before stepping past the two dead men. Even if they were the Empire, she hated to have death so up close and personal, and on her hands.

“Let’s go, Adam. Cell 4653.” She took off without another word, murmuring to herself as she counted cells.

It was only fair. It had been her plan, after all, and all failure was therefore her fault. Only right that she should take the killing shot. This whole thing could turn out to be a major disaster. Get them all captured, killed… and it would be on her shoulders. She shouldn’t have said the Emperor. She should have said Vader. She’d aimed too high.

“4651… 4652… 4653.” For a moment the cell was too dim for her to see. Then the lights clicked on, revealing a figure huddled on the cell cot.

The moment of truth. “Hello?”
Hey, the Titans tower is on a lake, right?
Don't worry! Focus on getting better.
@Master Crim Having first post anxiety. Shooting for the weekend.
You're good! I had something good to wake up to!

Also, maybe try "imgur"? That's where I put my pictures.
Please send kitten pics. Also I totally get you on the time thing.
Kijani sighed very softly, keeping her voice low. "It's fine. He's probably right. This is crazy, but I have to know." And on they went. Kijani was doing her very best not to be hurried, but her heart was thumping faster with every step. She knew this was insane. If they did find her father, how did they get him out of the cell and back to the ship in one piece? Then a thought occurred that nearly stopped her in her tracks.

What if they didn't? What if this was all false? What if he had been here, but was already...

Would the grief take her again, make her useless? She wouldn't let that happen.

"Adam, I have a sort of plan. When we get there, you have to tell the guards that.. um... the emperor has some questions for him. If it is him. If it's not him, then I am going to weep later." There, that was a plan. Not a solid or even mostly coherent one, but it was something. Her mother would be disappointed.
"See Rox, I come to you because you don't ask questions. Like, why's your bike smoking, and are those bullet holes, and why do you always pay in cash. Nope, you just do your thing and I love that."

With an admonished look at Roxy's yelling, J went to turn the fan on. Only then did he notice Devika, who was just stepping into the room.

"Hey there. It's a surprise to see a new face around here." J sidled smoothly up to Devika. "The names Jin, but you can call me J if you like. Everyone else does." There was an easy grin on their face.

Devika smiled and nodded. "Nice to meet you, J. I'm Devika. Please forgive me for not shaking hands. I-" She briefly considered lying. Making up some other reason why she wouldn't shake hands. Like, she had a cold. Or a deadly skin rash. But it occurred to her that if she was going to be around, she might as well be as honest as possible. "I'm an empath. Skin contact kind of messes with me. Sorry."

"Oh. No worries!" J looked curiously at Roxy, then back to Devika. "She's your anchor, then?"

"Yep. She's my anchor."

"Huh." J rubbed their chin, and smiled a bit wider. "It's like having a permanent roommate, right?"

"Maybe at the start, but once we get settled, I'll be able to be farther away."

"Cool, cool." J looked Roxy up and down. "Hey Rox, at least you got stuck with someone cute. World isn't all bad."

Devika blushed a little bit.
Okay! I'm glad you understand.
