Well, the "I am but an ally" to "queer af" pipeline is real.

Bio

I have gone by many names over my life, and the one I go by here is Nori.

I am a non-binary individual who has a love of participating in these stories and creating my own. I am incredibly chronically ill. If my illness flares up too much I may be pulled away.

Magic would be like any skill. Some have a natural gift for it while others have to work harder to achieve the same results. We’ll all start with our magic, though it’ll be anything but good. Someone with fire magic might be able to have a single flame extend from their finger. You will be allowed to grow into your power as the story goes on and I’ll have it setup in a way where everyone can choose what direction their powers go.

@Dragonfly 9

I’d say 1-2+ is my goal! I don’t want people to drown under the burden of something more than that but I also want to leave room for people to create!

The Return of Magic - An intro.

Magical was once as essential to the development of mankind as fire or even the wheel. The witches and warlocks of our past worked hard to uplift their fellow humans and push them forward toward the future. However, as you know, our history books make no mention of our magically adept ancestors. There is no mention of the great wonders they built or the evil they vanquished and banished away. This is by design. Those who could not wield the magic felt jealous, afraid even, by those who could and hunted them to extinction. It has been a thousand years since the last spell was cast, five hundred years since the last authentic trial, and one hundred years since those who's bloodline was devoted to the murder of magic sheathed their blades and considered their quest completed.

Yet magic stirs once more in the realm of mortals. A new day dawns on a new generation of witches and warlocks, and only questions remain. Are they ready for the perils that await them? The monsters of the night that have been locked away seek to break the chains that bound them? Most importantly, would they be ready to stand up to the whole of humanity and face the wrath of their fear? These questions will not be answered overnight. As such, an invitation was sent to each of those that the magic returned to, inviting them to a place where they can learn to harness their powers.

They should do well to learn quickly. In the quiet corners of the internet, people have begun to report strange creatures, and people have started to disappear randomly. Could it be a coincidence, or could the return of magic be tied to something much more sinister?

** Howdy **
Hey! Whale here looking to do a magic-themed RP. The basic premise is magic was once a natural part of our world. After years of hunting the witches and warlocks to extinction, magic, among other things, disappeared seemingly for good. Now that magic has returned, and with it the monsters of old, a new era of witches and warlocks much arise to the challenges. I plan to allow players to have some liberty with the magic their character can wield but keep in mind that you *just* got these powers. You will not be powerful yet.

Let me know if anyone has any questions! I am aiming for 4-6 players and could be happy to start with more or less than that!
I will be adding more information to this over the next day or two.
I am also very interested in this if you have the room!

"If you can hear me and if you need help please just...Thump me on the back or something, I'll try to keep you safe in the meantime. "

Olivia heard her words but struggled to take action on them. Inside her head, it felt like a vice found itself around her mind, and it grew tighter as each second passed. A hundred silent screams washed over her again as those under her spell rebelled against her control. Olivia tried to move her hand to pat the woman on her back, but her hands kept pressed on the sides of her head.

Olivia knew she was not in a position to be defenseless. The one only thought that made its way through her turbulent mind told her as much. If she stayed here, the other heroes may try and protect her, leaving the group exposed. With an audible, pain-filled groan, she shifted her head towards the one who had offered her salvation. Her vision betrayed her, and she could not see the details of their face. Yet she could see the shape of her back. With another, louder groan, Olivia raised her hand off her head and planted it meekly on the back of the other hero.

"I can't..." Oliva started as she felt the pressure build inside her skull even further. "I can't keep this up." As she finished the line, she felt the pressure reach a tipping point, and in an instant, her eyes went white, and a trail of blood trickled down from her nose. She fell backward, alive but unconscious, and landed on the floor with a dull thud.

Olivia

The laughter continued as Olivia watched the lone tire impact the Hugemulonimbus man and the spectral hero.

"A strike," she shouted, throwing her hands straight up. She started moving towards the two, and Olivia quickly pulled her hands down and did a quick clap to congratulate the tire hero on a well-placed blow. Her enthusiasm remained even as the villain kicked a shadowy hero away, though her head did tilt in disapproval. "A spare?" She asked herself as she leaned to the side. "A spare, yes. Well struck, tire hero!" As she spoke, the villain unleashed his assault. A wave of energy, more potent than any before, was discharged and sent towards each hero.

As Olivia noticed that the strike had included her as a target, she froze in place. "Oh shit, what happens next will shock you."

As the joke fell on deaf ears, she suddenly felt the same thoughtless, barren landscape in her mind as before. Her power was active, but she was not trying to compel anyone. In an instant, as if by instinct, her body twisted itself out of the way of the strike. Her movements would appear deliberate and graceful to those who watched. A second later, the electric arc of energy passed harmlessly by her body. As she found herself relatively safe again, thoughts and feelings quickly crashed back onto her mind, and she crumbled under their weight, collapsing to the floor below.

Her hand quickly found itself pressed against her head as she felt a million thoughts from numerous voices all at once. These voices were not her own, they were gruff and rough, and they were scared. She felt her power well in her mind as a massive headache spread. She could feel hands on guns, backs behind cover, and silly puns spoken as fingers pulled on triggers—the recoil of the guns against the shoulders of so many. Numerous feelings, sensations, and thoughts assaulted her mind. Her hand gripped around her mask, and she pulled it off as her hand shook from side to side.

She threw the mask onto the ground as she quickly gasped for a breath. Olivia curled into a ball on the floor as the voices from the Stormtrooper's thoughts overwhelmed her senses. "What is happ- please so- I don't want to be- I don't want to die- I am sorry I am sorry-" Olivia forced herself onto her knees as she pressed both hands on her exposed forehead. She knew her power could not influence the Stormtroopers forever now, but Olivia would try and keep them under her spell for as long as she could.
I’m working on an idea as well!

"Oh shit," Olivia screamed as she pulled her body entirely behind the pillar. Behind her, the electric attack smashed into the concrete. Parts exploded outward, sending dust and debris flying. The thunderous roar of the electric strike overwhelmed Olivia's senses for a brief moment, bringing her back to the reality of the situation. She pressed herself harder against the pillar as another strike came in, letting out a small yelp as she did. Her thralls had been dispatched by the thunderous strikes of their former master. The villain had acted quickly to regain control of the chaos and had started to show off his incredible power.

"How can we win," Olivia thought to herself as she peered from behind cover. She watched as one conjured a pair of large rods and as Tuxedo Mask spoke to a cat. The truck hero had been stopped in its tracks by a single gesture from the villain. "Where did the cat come from?" Olivia pulled herself back. Had she lost her mind? Why was there a random cat amid a super-powered brawl? Had she finally snapped and lost control of her mind?

"Breath, me, breathe," she whispered as she once pressed her weight further into the collum. Olivia knew this was not the time to have a breakdown. Another blast of electricity came, digging through the tile floor, forcing her knees into her chest in an instant. Another explosion struck close by, causing Olivia to pull them even deeper instinctually.

"What can I control, what can I control," she repeated to herself. Maybe she could try to use her power on the villain again? No, she quickly shook that thought away as she knew that her ability did not work on heroes and villains. While she could try, all the same, this was not the time for that. She did know her powers were effective on the henchmen, and she peered around the corner once more and took in their situation. That had opened fire on another hero, pinning the so-called "Midknight" down.

There were still quite a few of the henchmen left. She had never tried to use her powers on more than a person, or two, at a time. What would happen if she tried it on them all? Pushing against the pillar, Olivia slid up and found her feet underneath herself. Another breath in, and out, and in again as she cleared her mind. What if she did allow a quick experiment of her power? "Do I even have a joke?"

Olivia focused every ounce of strength she had available into her power. In her mind, the situation played out. She would compel the troopers to drop their weapons and give themself up to the authorities outside. Their focus was on the Midknight individual, and they shouldn't be able to react to her. Safe, no bullet holes, and another batch of villains turned over to the authorities. That would allow the rest of the heroes to focus their attention squarely on the main attraction. While she was unsure how this attempt would play out, she knew she needed to try something different. And she did have the perfect joke to compel a group of rabble-rousers.

She pushed off from the pillar, took a step to the side, and cupped her hands around her mouth. "Hey! What do you call a group of rude criminals going down a flight of stairs?" She focused hard on her intended effect as she spoke, hitting a mental block as she did. The more power she forced in, the more she tried to compel the group, the less she could think. Her mind blanked entirely in that instant. As a panic set in, she skipped a breath or two as her mind became barren of all thoughts. The few ideas she had were to compel them to do something, anything even, but nothing specific came to mind. The power welled in her mind, not fully released, and nobody compelled. Until, from nowhere, she finished her joke.

"Condescending cons descending," she finished as she compelled the troopers to go outside and fight the cops. As her thoughts returned, a look of horror befell her face as she realized what she had just commanded these troopers to do. She watched as their eyes quickly fogged over and returned to normal. The troopers themselves took off in an instant, guns drawn, as they headed through the broken door and already shattered windows to the streets outside. "No, no no no, that not what I-" she whispered trying to fix her mistake before they got too far away. But she caught sight of a singular tire speeding around the lobby before taking off towards the villain. A singular laugh escaped her lips, before a second, and soon enough a cascade of laughter started.

"I have lost my mind." Olivia finished the thought as the sound of gunfire erupted, and the battle commenced.
I do have an interest in this as well!

"Did he just," Olivia paused her thought as she floated through the air. "He did; he just picked me up," she continued. As she found her feet on the ground once more, she turned towards the man who had carried her away. "Could you be any more cliche Tuxedo Mask?" She shouted. In her mind, she pushed her power to compel the man to apologize, yet it did not affect him all the same. Twice she had used her powers on those who had one, and twice they had failed.

Olivia knew she had stepped into the unknown when she walked through those doors. Oh, how quickly things have spiraled from there. Her powers don't work on powered individuals, she was princess-carried away from danger, and the villain was much more dangerous than the stories foretold. Was she cut out for this? Could she be a hero? These thoughts clouded her mind again, but she knew she could not dwell on them for long. Once again, she pushed them back and walled them away from her conscious thought. She would deal with them later.

This "Mamoru Chiba" like individual did spur an idea. She did not need to fight Thundercloud herself when she could compel his soldiers to do it for her. In an instant, her feet carried her towards the henchmen who had started to fill the lobby. She did her best to keep out of sight, darting from pillar to pillar. Her mind raced with an idea or two; she needed the perfect joke for this. She watched as the paper talisman impacted the first henchman through the door, forcing him off of his feet.

Olivia stopped a few meters away and came face to face with a pair of Stormtroopers. Her mind blanked for just a second at sight. "So your boss is kinda a big deal round here, eh?" She delivered the joke, using her hands to make the shape of a rather bulky circle around her stomach area. She compelled the two troopers to turn and fight off their comrades. She watched intensely as their eyes fogged over, making them her thrall. "Pun Patrol, you know what to do," she finished her command as she dove for cover behind a pillar.

The two Stormtroopers slowly turned and faced their former comrades. "Is it me, or has the boss been a little rough around the edges today?" The first Stormtrooper asked, rubbing his belly as he did, as he raised his weapon with the other hand, opening fire.

Though usually, the sound of gunfire would be painfully evident, it was matched slightly by the squealing sounds of tires on the tile floor. Olivia turned her head to catch the sight of an unmanned truck barreling its way towards the villain with a thunderous roar.

"What in the ever-loving-" Olivia paused as she pondered if this too was another hero. She had never seen a truck hero before, but who was she to judge that particular power. Her head tilted and a smug grin spread across her face. She turned her attention towards the villain, waiting to see what he would do next.

What is it that makes someone a hero? Olivia did not know the answer to that question, but it was all she could think of. She hid from the commotion of the fight between the forces of law and order and chaos and disorder, hiding behind a simple dumpster just around the corner from the tower's entrance. Is a hero just someone with a superpower? Or is a hero someone who chooses to do the right thing, regardless of having a superpower or not? The answer escaped her as she pressed her back further into the metal siding of the dumpster. Was she crazy? How could she be thinking of going toe to toe with a proper villain? Or with their henchmen even?

Just one week had gone by since she had gotten her powers. That's it. She has had no time to discover its quirks, no opportunity to figure out how to use it against a powered individual, and she has no clue how to actually do battle with a villain. Olivia peered around the corner of the dumpster and caught sight of two henchmen. She quickly pulled her head back around and was hidden once more. They were dressed in their matching uniforms and were armed and dangerous, much like the rest. These two, however, were isolated, and they were alone.

Olivia took a deep breath. She knew the answer to her question would not be answered behind a dirty dumpster wet by rain but instead be answered by her actions here today. The world had lost all of its heroes to the virus. And she knew that the world needed their replacement. While she was not anywhere close to their level, she knew she had to stand for those who could not. Even if that means she stands alone. Even if that means she should fall defeated.

Olivia took another deep breath, and then another, and then a third. She stood up, pulled her mask taught over her face, and flicked the lights on. Comedy was needed in these dark times. "What did the police say about the hairstylist turned villain?" Olivia asked as she approached the pair as she emerged from her hiding spot. "They said her plans were dye-abolical."

The pair turned their attention towards Olivia but paused as she delivered the joke. In an instant, their eyes had fogged up, and their movements ceased for just a moment. "I have never heard a worse joke in my life," the first Stormtrooper responded as he threw down his weapon and turned towards the police lines with hands up in the air, "you should be ashamed."

"Yeah, I second that," the second Stormtrooper added. "I hope you have a day job, and you never have to make a joke again." He, too, threw his weapon to the ground, threw his hands up, and made his way towards the police. She waved a quick goodbye to the duo before she set her focus on the door to the lobby. At that moment, the realization hit.

"Oh," Olivia whispered, "oh, I did it." She paused as the realization washed over her. Her thoughts grew ever more dark as the reality of what she had just done crept into her conscious mind. She pushed these thoughts to the back of her mind, walled them up behind brick and mortar, and took a step forward. She could not focus on these thoughts right now; she had a date with destiny. Soon these individual steps turned into a march towards the front door to the Financial Tower. They soon found themself carrying Olivia through them inside.

"I was shocked to learn that a powered individual survived the virus," Olivia shouted as she walked into the lobby, catching the sight of the villain for the first time. As she spoke, she forced the total weight of her power into her words. She commanded the villain to give themself up. Yet, she noticed his eyes remained the same. No fog, no change in demeanor, and he still ate his chips.

"Oh no," Olivia whispered.
