@OddApproved, damn, I'll change that... Stand by.

Edit: Stanford it is! And he just left LA

I didn't mean for you to change anything, Pagemaster. I just thought it was funny (since that happens all the time in real life.)

Add-on: My comment about characters associated with New York was not supposed to be negative at all. It's only 3/15 characters who have an association with New York (I thought it was funny that's all.) I'll remember to make my emotions more clear with statements.
Dang, it must be a small world. A lot of people seem to be associated with Sanctuary and New York, lol.
I suppose I should probably say that I'm out.
Best of luck!

So many posts, so quickly, I really can't keep up, anymore. xP

Aww...It can be overwhelming sometimes. I hope you find what you are looking for, and I hope you fixed your issue with the loading problem!
Here is the perfect image for this roleplay.

Ruben walked over to where Emma left the bag filled with scones since he was thinking of taking one. His eyes sharpened while in this thought; did he need one? He ate breakfast this morning, and he wasn't that hungry, but he wanted to try the blueberry and lemon zest scones, "Mhm..." he groaned to himself while looking around.

There were no orders at the time; Reya still did not come back with any, so he assumed she was busy. So, he could maybe take a piece of one before quickly washing his hands and getting back to work.
Exhaling quite sharply, he opened the bag and broke a bite-size piece off, "She's going to make me gain weight if she keeps bringing these around," he spoke to himself a lot and others too little.

Plopping the piece of scone in his mouth, he chewed it slowly to savor the flavors as he went over to wash his hands once again. Turning the sink on and putting soap on his one hand before rubbing them together, he placed them under the hotter than warm water.
Ruben began to cough from swallowing wrong, putting his mouth into his arm - he was trying to control his coughing fit. "Dammit," muffled words came from him as he forcefully swallowed the piece of scone. He coughs a little more before turning the water off and grabbing some paper towels.

Orders then started to come in, and he made his way over to the stove as nothing occurred a second ago. His throat was a little sore from the coughing fit.
Beginning to make all the different orders, Ruben seemed to enjoy being in the kitchen. Most of the time, a faint one-sided smile could be seen on his face as it was right now.

"Phew. It's a little busy out there today."

Glancing over to Reya when she spoke, he nodded his head to her comment. For the Fox Hole Tavern, this was considered a busy morning, but he was able to handle it nicely. With his experience in university and with high-end restaurants, Ruben saw this cooking as a piece of cake.

"Hey..."

That tone, Ruben thought when his expression seemed to waver a little. The faint smile he had on somewhat turned to furrow brows and a slight frown before being controlled into a more neutral expression.

"Er... Do you want to grab drinks at Bandits later tonight?"

Staring at her, he seemed to be thinking, and he put his attention back on the food. Ruben thought she was going to become sad with the tone she was using, but he ended up getting an offer to go out after their shifts. Making sure the food was not overcooking, Ruben seemed to be thinking about her question.

"I just... was thinking that I need to get out for a bit."

Thinking about it more, he glanced over to her while serving the first order up, which was the couple were on a road trip. Ruben knew he had time to move over to Reya, "I won't answer you till you eat," Ruben said while picking up the bag of scones Emma left and handing them to Reya. He was going to stand there till she took it even if those pancakes were burning; he was a stubborn man.

Making Reya think about eating something gave him time to think about his answer; did he want to go out to the bar and hang out? Was it going to be only Reya and him? Ruben wasn't the best in crowds and flourish in conversations that usually only had one other person than himself - maybe two on a good day, "Also, will it only be us?" he wanted to know. He didn't mind if others were there, but he would tend to lean on the more quiet side, and this was all because of trust issues. Trust issues his mother has built up over years because of living in Sanctuary. Anything that he did that his mom didn't deem 'secret worthy' which was most things, the town knew within a couple of days. He already had irreversible damage because of his father at home, publicly he couldn't handle the comments some people gave him. Ruben acted like stuff didn't bother him, but he realized while he got older - his nerves felt like they were melting and his once invisible shaking became apparent to others when he started to have anxiety. Ruben couldn't keep his emotions fully hidden like he use to; did he really want to keep them hidden like that anymore?

Interaction(s) @The Muse

"I am letting this go straight to my head. Maple pancake cupcakes it is."

Ruben knew he should have kept to himself and said nothing, but he felt bad that the girl thought she was annoying. She had a lot of energy for her age, and he understood that. He appeared very docile during his work schedule, but he was the complete opposite while outside of work. During his days off or free times around his work schedule, Ruben was doing morning or nighttime jogs, yoga, or something along the lines of staying active and keeping himself balanced in a sense.

His behavior started during his freshman year of high school when he began to engage in sports. The biggest sport Ruben was known for playing was football since he was the best size for being a quarterback, and he was decent enough to get a scholarship for college from it. From all this activity throughout his life, his mother always comments on how he would be a wonderful father even though he cannot imagine himself having kids - maybe because his father was horrible. He was scared of being like him.

Letting his thoughts go back to Emma, he hated how she would bring herself down since others have repeatedly told her negative things throughout the year, which made her think she 'talked too much.' This small town would do that to you, and he understood the people here could be two-faced like anywhere else. It was too small sometimes, to a fault.
In honesty, he didn't understand why people were so rude, but he knew that people liked to only talk about themselves most of the time; Emma could talk about everything and anything -- People hate the questioners, especially in this small town.

"Crap crap crap- I gotta run I'm so late!"

Letting himself glance over to the woman who was accusingly looking at him while trying to escape the building. Raising a brow, like usual, Ruben seemed to keep somewhat of an interest in what Emma was telling him. "Like always," he teased.

"Make sure she eats today, or I'll have your head."

After he was alone in the kitchen, Ruben couldn't help the faint smile that crept on his lips before getting back to his work. Quitely, he promised Emma that he would, "I'll make sure she does."
He didn't want them thinking he cared too much about them, though he could feel like killing someone if they ever decided to hurt one of those girls.

Sighing, he closed his eyes while he inhaled deeply, allowing himself to exhale slowly before opening his eyes. That familiar expression of sternness appeared on his face once again.
Maybe Ruben was truly like this, or he put up a front, a facade of some kind, so he didn't attach to others. The man seemed to always have a hard time when it came to social gatherings or invitations. Every time he was invited to something by Reya, Emma, or someone else, an excuse came out of his mouth. Never allowed himself to hang out and relax, build close friends since he put a wall between everyone and himself.

And the times that he would accept, most would comment on how he didn't talk the whole time or engage in the activities they were all participating in. Ruben was one to think and observe too much. He barely wanted to be noticed. His mother caused most of the population of Sanctuary to think he went to prison for something horrible, true or not; this gave him anxiety about what people thought of him.

Ruben decided to work around the two girls while they stood in the kitchen and talked about scones and other things. In particular, he didn't like how they kept talking about this person who could come fix the roof since they could have asked him. Though he wasn't in major agony over the conversation, he was just going to go on the roof after his shift and check it out; maybe on his lunch break.

Glancing at the still dripping roof while it echoed out throughout the kitchen, he knew it was going to bother him all day. Just the noise of water drops hitting the metal over and over again, every few minutes, but he hoped to drown the sound out with it being steady.

Finally, arriving at the main part of his station, he began to heat the stoves to a proper temperature and prep his workstation. It was going to be easy, like most mornings, since breakfast was not a hard task to do for Ruben who had experience in high-end kitchens.
He enjoyed the slow pace of a small town and how personal you could be with someone, it was nice and relaxing for him. Over two years being back in Sanctuary, he still couldn't believe he was home and happier here.

Grabbing pans and utensils, he started to allow the pans to heat up with the stovetop. While things were heating up, he walked over to where his apron hung and began to put it on.

"I'm going to bake you something special for that. What do you love? Or hate? Fruit? Or something more savory? Roasted tomato and spinach biscotti? Muffins? Three tiered cake?"

The bolstering domino effect of words caused him to raise a brow since he didn't think he would get such a reaction. Is she getting excited over what I said? Ruben was in thought while being confused about getting such a reaction, since he didn't think it was such a big deal, but he wasn't looking at the bigger picture in this situation.

Giving the young woman a side glance while she was bombarding him with questions about his favorite desserts. Before he could answer, Reya's comment seemed to strike him in some way.

"Thank you again, Emma. I'll call you about that roof guy you have."

Ruben seemed to stand still as if he froze in time while watching the other girl leave the backroom. Rolling his eyes and began to mumble something to himself while grabbing eggs out of the fridge, "Don't let it go to your head." He said to Emma. Seeming to be waking up and getting into his typical mood.

The women began to wake him up from their talking. He enjoyed their conversations, he would eavesdrop, most of the time, not on purpose. The waitressing counter was right there since Reya and others had to pick up the food he was serving.

Ruben seemed to shut down in a way before grabbing ingredients for pancakes. He was trying to make himself busy while Reya collected orders for him.
