Bio

You JUST scrolled down!

Hello out there! My name's Mason. I like a lot of random stuff like comics, Masters of the Universe, M*A*S*H, X-Files, conspiracy theories, as well as a good superhero themed role play! I'm more of a DC freak than a Marvel zombie but I did grow up on mutants and 3rd string heroes. Once in awhile I'll make a few micros in MSPaint for my RP's because I love designing heroes as much as I do writing/reading about them. I'm about to try and get another Amalgam Universe themed game off the ground, if you're interested gimme a shout!

My top RP's on the Guild:

Young Justice 2020
Justice League Unlimited
Titans of Gotham
Champions of Engine City
Marvel Reborn
Legion of Superheroes Return [stat based]

Top Characters:

Ditto - Young Justice series
Bulleteer - Justice League Unlimited
Leviathan - Titans of Gotham
Fastlane - Champions of Engine City
the Thing II - Marvel Reborn
Ultra Boy II - Legion of Superheroes Return

I've been RP'ing for awhile. I mostly RP to keep my writing skills up to par, and I generally RP between Casual and Advanced. I've been a member of the guild for quite a bit, pre Guildfall even. Ninety percent of the time you'll find me in some superhero themed RP or something based off of another fandom like MotU or Power Rangers. Currently in the process of developing my own comics!

Favorite DC heroes (I won't go into villains to save space) in no order: Aquaman, Hawkman, Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner), Superboy (the clone), Swamp Thing, Starman, Animal Man, the Ray (90's era), Impulse, Captain Atom, and Batman Beyond.

Favorite Marvel heroes list: Human Torch I & II, Capt. Mar-Vell, Black Bolt, the classic Destroyer, Havok, Multiple Man, classic Scarlet Spider, Spiderman 2099, Nova, and Colossus.

OTHER FAVORITES: Space Ghost, Haunt, the Maxx, Shadowhawk, Green Hornet, Madman, Doctor Star/Andromeda, the Phantom, He-Man, and Zorro.

The opening post of this OOC breaks down the stat system and also gives examples. Basic addition and subtractions skills are all that's needed. Check out the IC for some examples of them in-combat as well as the character tab for some of the stat cards I made for everyone.

Also if there's more than one person thinking about this spot, I'd likely have to put up a Character Sheet model to give everybody an equal opportunity. LMK if there's any questions about the stats!
I'm interested.

So, is the stat-based system like DnD?

Also, I presume that the player that fills in has to play as Nightshade?

Sorta like D&D but super simplified. You only have 5 stats to play around with, and your Health stat comes from combining all of the other stats except one. I can link you to an older RP using the same system if you'd like.

And yeah, Nightshade is the only available character. Thunderbolt and Capt. Atom are both enemies, something will happen to E-Man in the beginning, and the rest of the cast includes...

@rocketrobie2 as Blue Beetle
@WXer as Peacemaker
@Simple Unicycle as the Question
@Omega Man as Judomaster
Long story short... After developing an idea with some frequent RP partners about a year ago we're finally moving forward with the game now that the timing is right. However, one player never got back to us and it's a crucial role. The game itself is centered around the old Charlton Comics characters that went on to inspire the Watchmen. The character we're needing the spot filled for is called Nightshade and if you guessed her powers had to do with shadows then you guessed right.

Here's more info on Nightshade...

Here's the synopsis of what leads up to the RP....

Now here's where I *might* lose some of you. While its a very simplified system I've used at least a dozen times by now... the in-game combat will be stat based to add more weight to the situations. It's mainly there to keep smaller fights from dragging on for too long and it will also show the difference between a punch from Peacemaker and a punch from somebody else like the Question. The only other thing to note is that this doesn't take place in the regular DCU, there's no Superman or JLA... just us.

So.... is there anybody out there?

More interest than I thought, just took a few days LOL. Here's the character sheet, I'm looking forward to the different sample posts!

Name:
Age:
Civilian or Soldier:
Face claim: [use an actor or something, I'm thinking a young Clint Eastwood myself...]
Job: [civilian or military]
Skills: [like stated above I need somebody who can speak multiple languages, a pilot, a mechanic or gearhead of some kind, etc…]
Sample Post:

[This can go one of two ways. Your sample can be when Hughes, Seacord, and/or Captain Pierce recruit you before the first mission. Or if you’d rather write a post taking place in the middle of our first team mission taking out the V-3 rail-gun type weapon in the German mountains, that's an option. My guy for example will go the first route, and he’ll be recruited by Pierce after being locked up for fighting with MP’s after drinking a bit too much.]

Notes: Is there anything else we need to know about your character?

Also!

If anyone would like to be the teammate missing in action, that’s also on the table.

@Endrance
Name: Jack Sweeny
Age: 25-ish
Civilian or Soldier: Soldier

Job: Still in basic training… lol
Skills: charming, brawler, quick thinker [when he’s sober]
Sample Post:

Military jail in the 1940’s was a different kind of beast. Sweeny ran moonshine in the southern States before he was drafted. He had been around booze, both the legal and illegal kind, for most of his life. After weeks of basic training in preparation for the ground war in Europe, a few of the new recruits talked Sweeny into sneaking off of the military base to go to a bar. A few drinks later, a few fists later, and Sweeny was being picked up by the MP’s. After a few hours of sobering up a tall dark haired army captain stepped into the holding cell area to talk to the young recruit.

“You look like you’ve seen better days, rookie.” The Captain said with a grin.

“You should have seen them other guys…” Sweeny replied looking up for a few moments from where he was sitting.

“I did actually…. all five of them. All together at least four broken ribs, a cracked jaw, a broken leg, a dislocated arm, and there was the guy you kicked in the pants…” Captain Pierce informed the young man.

“Wait… how’d you know that? Who are you again?” Sweeny asked still getting his wits about him.

“I’m Captain Benjamin Franklin Pierce of the USAAF, and I was at the bar last night trying to enjoy the driest gin they had when you made a scene. What did those men say to you and those other rookies that got you so fired up?” the man asked.

“A man fights for his country… and those guys think they can stand around and call him…” Sweeny started to say.

“I don’t like the word either, kid. You put five men in the hospital while the other two ran and your superiors want to throw the three of you out of the army, but I’m putting a team together and I could use those fists of yours. I don’t care about the other two…” the Captain began saying.

“Jackson wasn’t drafted like me, sir. His family needs the money. He’s got a sister that’s sick and…” Sweeny started to say before the Captain spoke up.

“If you want to help your colored friend stay employed then I need you to sober up, soldier. In three days you’re going to meet Howard Hughes himself. And the Rocketeer…” the superior informed the still somewhat drunk Sweeny.

Three Days Later…

In an airplane hangar in the middle of nowhere Howard Hughes and Capt. Pierce looked over the handful of recruits assembled in less than a week. Several rocket packs and silver Rocketeer helmets were on a bunch of tables and there was a large plane in the back of the hangar as well. The Rocketeer was nowhere to be seen at first until he came rushing through the skies and darting through the hangar. After a fast landing that resulted in a rolling stop in front of the new recruits, it was a different superhero landing to be sure. The Rocketeer stood up and removed his helmet before addressing the group.

“My name’s Cliff Seacord. The United States wants me to teach the lot of you how to fly without wings… in one week.” The Rocketeer stated.

I work long hours Tuesday through Friday, but I'll have my CS up shortly so everybody has an idea of what I'm looking for. Hope everyone showing interest comes back around cause this would make a whole team!

@Skwint Does that mean you're game?
I mean... I like doing superhero RP's as much as anybody... I was just trying to change it up a little LOL

Really though, nobody's digging the 1940's setting?

In 1943...

There were more than one thousand concentration camps in Nazi-occupied Europe. Death was around every corner. There were rumors that Hitler had a pair of super weapons that would turn the tide of the war. Thanks to the efforts of an experimental reconnaissance unit one of the super weapons, a massive artillery cannon called a V-3, was destroyed in the mountains on the German border. The unit was a special branch of the United States Army Air Force equipped with rocket packs; invented by none other than Howard Hughes years earlier. Mechanics, pilots, infantry, the group of misfits had a little bit of everything going for them. After the win in the German mountains the team would be sent into action once more to gather intelligence on the other rumored super weapon.

The other super weapon? Unknown to the Allies, Hitler was working on developing super soldiers. Where he got the means to do so remains unclear, however he has been known to dabble in the arcane as well as advancing technologies. The unit sent a scout to one of the two locations the super weapon was thought to be, and the Rocketeer never made it back to the rendezvous point. The missing teammate only presented another problem. The rocket-packs were not to fall into enemy hands. Years earlier the Nazi’s attempted to steal the prototype but were thwarted by the first man to successfully use the pack. A pilot in California came into possession of the rocket-pack and became the first Rocketeer, and would later train this team in aerial maneuvering and combat for the US military.

Can the rest of the unit function after losing a teammate? What, if anything, took the Rocketeer out of the sky?
Was a super-soldier already in the field?

The Rocketeer was always one of my favorite concepts and comics that invoked another era like no other ever had. I love the golden age of comics, and the WW2 themes in the Rocketeer always appealed to me. After seeing a piece of fan art I got super inspired to come up with something. The CS requirements for this will include a sample post with a theme so I can get an idea for how you're gonna write your characters. I'm going to give a few ideas for what characteristics I'm looking for in terms of skills, but aside from that I just want to be as honest as I can be in that I'm no expert on WW2 history and weapons and such.

I'm looking for a group of 5-7 players including myself to play as the unit of Rocketeers who already have one major victory under their belts. Aside from the Captain, most of us aren't very high up on the food chain. To say the least we're all expendable. The idea is we were all chosen last minute in and around an Army base in the southern United States by Captain Pierce of the USAAF, Howard Hughes, and the original Rocketeer Cliff Seacord. We were given a week to train with the original Rocketeer before boarding a plane to Europe.

CS requirements will be pretty standard aside from the sample post and skills sections. The skills I'm hoping to have among the group would include a foreign language enthusiast, a mechanic or engineer, perhaps a pilot, an infantry or explosives kinda character, maybe a medic. I'm thinking my guy will be a disgraced soldier in the brig willing to do whatever he can to get out, and a drunk. Booze will be what got him into trouble with the MP's.

If there's enough interest I'll post up the CS requirements in the next couple of days!
