Bio

Well now that I got the customary "post once" requirement out of the way....

HELLO

Welcome to my safe space. Well, about as safe as one space can be, I guess. If you are here looking for something, I am very sorry to disappoint you, but I made fresh cookies! Come sit a spell.

I guess I'll do some more in-depth stuff about myself. My name is Nick and I am 33 years old living in Illinois. I am a therapist and clinical responder (which is a fancy way of saying I go out on police calls to provide mental health assistance). Been doing therapy for a few years now and I absolutely love it!

I am a gay, cisgender man. I came out last year in January (smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Timing was always my downfall). There is still much I am learning, but I am proud and happy to be who I really am and not have to hide it anymore!

I am an avid gamer, especially roleplaying games (cue surprised and shock noises). I also enjoy writing and reading, especially mysteries. I am not new to roleplay, I promise. I have been doing it for years now in different formats. I am experienced, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I use humor as a coping mechanism for sure, but I also like laughing and enjoying myself. Life can be pretty sad and upsetting for the most part and I don't want to add to it.

Whew! That got deep!

I will be poking my nose around in spaces and hoping to jump headfirst into this. Some interests I have in terms of roleplay settings include superheroes, DnD, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, horror stuffs, apocolypse, and espionage. And I am a fan of most things pop culture. If you have any suggestions or possible roleplays you think I would love, please let me know.

Otherwise, stick around! This is gonna get wild!

First Day Fit

Sabine knew eyes were on them when they made their way back to their dorm. It was hard to get any privacy here and rumors spread like wildfire. It would only be a matter of time until the others heard about her and Leah walking hand-in-hand after making out in public. She decided, after seeing Leah respond to a text, to shoot one off herself.

Once she was done and Leah came back, she grabbed her hand and continued. She forgot Leah stuck around while Sabine went home. But given how Leah's home life was, she was not surprised. "It's all good. Play around with my stuff if you want. Feel what it's like to be me for a bit."

Once safely in their residence, Sabine let go of Leah's hand and faced her. "Get ready, because I am about to show you what true pleasure is like."

Calli listened as, one by one, they all opened up. It was nice to see considering mere moments ago they were all at each other's throats. Or some of them were. Luce's story broke her heart. And it made her feel shitty for complaining about her own father. At least he was alive, even though he looked at her like he wished she would disappear.

She could feel the warmth terminating from Banjo, even with the campfire. She felt guilty. She intended it not to go further than a night in the tent together to forget she was at this stupid school. But Banjo had to be so fucking sweet. Showing her genuine care. Showing her humanity and not expecting her to be anything but who she was. Why had she jumped down Inigo and Rory's throats? Why was she so protective?

Because he expected little from her, whatever she gave him, he appreciated.

All that glitters is not gold though. Despite their quick bonding session, someone had to ruin it. Mackenna had entered the chat bragging about herself. Calliope hated and appreciated how much she liked Mackenna. Hell, Calliope knew girls like her back home. She could hardly blame her for sharing her success. But even then, Calliope got the sense the girl had deeper things going on. And even then, the bombastic side-eye coming her way could not be ignored.

Inigo came along and Banjo got up to speak to him. Hopefully, the two could hash it out and come to an understanding. Before Calliope could continue, Trace stood up and stormed off.

Admittedly, Trace was not her favorite person, but even still, they had opened up despite her initial gut reaction. "Be right back." Calli stood up and followed Trace. But they went into their tent before Calli could call out to her. They probably wanted to be alone, but despite it, Calli spoke up. "Trace? I know you probably want to be left alone, but I just wanted you to know I appreciate you opening up. Even slightly. I imagine that was not what you wanted to do, but I think it was brave. And your powers are really awesome. I hope to get to know you better, even slightly. Have a good night."

Calliope turned and walked back to the campfire. Seeing if the others wanted to continue the conversations, as heavy as they were.

Before Harlowe knew it, more had come over to her. She turned the music down to hear what the others were saying. So far, no one seemed annoyed by her playlist. "Uh, not sure to be honest. Never tried. I imagine I can get it pretty loud though. I think I even hit that frequency that only dogs can hear once. Harlowe decided to keep the event that brought here here a secret. It's not like everyone else was trauma-dumping.

As Yuri spoke, the wind picked up, blowing around the guy. "So you control the wind or something? Pretty awesome power!"

Another guy came running up, this one clearly enjoying the pizza they were provided. Harlowe couldn't help but appreciate it. And he was cute. Come to think of it, so far, everyone she had seen was hot. "Hey Coop, Yuri. Name's Harlowe. I believe I am still looking for a tent buddy. Are either of you in need of one? I promise to be the best roomie for the night! Can't promise to be super great in the morning though. I hate mornings."

Harlowe decided to bite the bullet. Perhaps one of these two had more of an idea as to what was going on. "Hey, do either of you two know about this school and what's going on with these trials tomorrow? I was dropped off at the front gate literally during that opening ceremony bit and I barely had time to read up on anything before we all hiked up here."
Nevermind, I was never here

Perry had forgotten that Ed had asked for some hair to do his powers. That was odd, but then again, they were a bunch of humans with weird abilities on a floating rock so weird had left the station a long time ago. "Oh, for sure dude. One strand okay? And does it matter that it's not my natural color? Girl's got to mix it up time and again. Hell, I don't think I know what my real hair color looks like anymore!" She pulled out one strand and handed it to Ed.

Soon enough though, the voice matched the person as some blowhard jackass who just oozed awful. Perry still had her hands up. "I still want to punch him. Can I punch him? He has a very punchable face." She really wanted to, but recognized she would probably be met with something bad. She listened as Fabian explained why they were here. Seems the others were right. They won their spot here, though they all had no idea that was the 'reward' for winning.

"Well, they don't want us here and we don't want to be here so it seems our wants align. Direct us to the nearest ship or whatever and we'll be on our way fuckface. I mean, Fabian." She was probably setting herself up for something, but she really detested this guy. She scooted closer to Flynn, just in case. Setting Fabian on fire seemed like an all-right thing to do.

Sabine took a moment to soak in the attention. Granted, it wasn't nearly as much as she hoped for (she came back with a freaking sword people! Like, get it together..) but it was great nonetheless. April made a big show of support highlighting how it made her think of She-Ra and making plans to cosplay. Sabine had seen the show (a show with substantial queer representation? Of COURSE she watched it), so she was on board. "Course we can do that. What a great idea." April even got her thinking of names.

Before she could mull it over, a blur of dark, curly hair got in her face. Leah. Fucking Leah. Sabine hadn't expected the girl to approach her, but here she was. Admittedly, Sabine was happy for that attention also. Leah rightfully asked why she had a sword all of a sudden. Sabine didn't feel comfortable disclosing its origins in public, so she opted for a white lie. "Right? So cool. A gift from my father. Probably to make amends for how this morning ended. You can touch it, I suppose."

"Your- Huh. Didn't think making amends was something he did." Leah did, in fact, reach her hand down and tap the sword once. It was definitely a firm tap, considering Leah was superhumanly strong, not that she was trying to shove Sabine back or damage the sword. "Do you even-" Leah turned her attention to the swarm of burning insects that April's... Friend? Seemed to be causing. Honestly, April probably had that better covered than her, so she turned back to Sabine. She wasn't even going to dignify that with her attention. "I always thought your old man was just some irredeemable asshole, honestly."

Sabine hadn't noticed the burning insects and, noticeably, panicked. It was hard to maintain your cool girl facade and be next to fucking burning bugs. "Look, be super cool about this but can we talk away from the literal fire insects please?" Sabine didn't let Leah decide as she peaced the fuck out, mumbling how stupid it was to be able to do that. What the fuck kind of school was this?

Once they were safely away, Sabine took a few moments to calm down. The bugs were not there. She was fine. "Ok, better. Sorry about that. Back to my father. I mean, I would hardly count this as redeeming himself. Whenever he fucks something up he uses gifts to fix it. Honestly, it's annoying you can't even imagine."

"Yeah- That sounds like a situation." There weren't many people around them that were actively paying attention to them, and Sabine wasn't that bad to talk to, honestly, so Leah continued. "... At least you're not destined by fate to kill him. Agatha told me I'd have to kill mine someday."

Sabine took a moment to make sure she heard that correctly. Leah was destined to kill her father? Sabine could be annoyed by her father, sure, but she would never take his life. Hell, she would never take her stepmother's life either. If she were gone, Sabine wouldn't be able to make her life a living hell. So Leah had this rolling around in her mind. Rough.

"So like....do you want to kill your dad? Is this fortune like....a blessing or curse situation?" Leah had never really talked about her family whenever the two of them did converse. "You've never really brought him up so..not sure what to make of that."

Leah paused mid-conversation and considered her words carefully. More out of self-consciousness than anything else. "Honestly, I'd rather just never see him again. I- I thought I already did kill him once when he- He shot and killed my mother right in front of me about... A week or two before I wound up here. Apparently, he's actually alive according to the wizard woman in the tent." She said, looking at the ground and not at Sabine.

Sabine didn't know what to expect, but she certainly didn't expect that. Leah's father killed her mother right in front of her. And Leah attempted to kill him. Rightly so, in Sabine's opinion. And then Sabine's mind went back to all of the terrible things she said about Leah. And the things she thought.

God she was a real bitch.

"Fuck Leah. I'm so sorry. What an absolute piece of shit." Well, if they were trauma dumping..."Fuck it. I lied. My father didn't send me the sword. Apparently, my deceased mother did. But back to you...do you want to kill your father? If so I'll help hide the body."

Leah blinked and wasn't entirely surprised by the lie. A parent who was supposedly dead was something she could understand, but that still sounded weird. "I- Fuck. Maybe? Here's the thing about him. He's dangerous. You could pit Vision, Firestar, and fucking Thor again him and he'd be bored. That man's dangerous, and you wouldn't know what way he decides to be dangerous in because- Well, he's got this weird mental power that lets him replace 20-something years of study in something with an hour or two. Give him an hour and he could rebuild Ultron from scrap metal, give him another and he'd think faster than a supercomputer. He can do that with fighting too- If he showed up looking for me for something reason he- No one here would be safe from that." Normally, Leah talked in a very serious and profound way- She backed up what she said. But right now, she sounded downright worried. , She wouldn't say it outright, but the thought of Imperator showing up to AA scared her.

Sabine could sense the fear. It was palpable. And that concerned her. Leah did not show fear. So if her father was really like this....Sabine could see why she was so afraid. "Well, I'm not scared of him. Gonna be hard to do all that if I turn his brain to much so badly he needs to eat through tubes in his arms." Sabine hoped her bravado would be of comfort, but it was still hard. Sabine recognized her family was fucked up, but not THIS fucked up. "If he does come here for you, he's got to get through me first. And I'll be damned if I let some geriatric motherfucker take me down."

"Heh. Maybe... After I supposedly buried him under an entire mountain's worth of rock, I rode on a boulder all the way to here. I basically ran away from a pile of rubble by the time the rocks stopped moving. Agatha told me that if I didn't face him eventually, that would happen again- Me destroying everything and moving onto another place, and that it would happen again if I didn't face him then either. It's some sort of cyclical shit and the only way to undo it is to finish him off, I guess."

Bravado was certainly Leah's language. Her spirits were lifted back up by that. "He'd turn this place upside down to get to me if he knew I was here... But he probably wouldn't expect some mindfucking bitch with a sword." She joked.

"That's right. Mindfucking bitch and a literal powerhouse tank. Can't be super smart if you are being punched in the face 500 times. No way he's finding you here. And even then, we'll take him down and ensure he can't mess with anyone ever." Sabine noted this was one of the first conversations with Leah that didn't end in them yelling at each other. It made her see Leah in a new light.

A genuine smile crept up on Leahโ€™s face. Not an overly excited one, but a content one. "Yeah. Weโ€™ll fuck him up. Just do me a favor. Donโ€™t tell anyone Iโ€™m telling you this, okay? My dadโ€™s an actual villain. The mercenary kind. People around here might be able to trace where he is, and thatโ€™s a whole other mess of that happens. I donโ€™t want this to be a whole thing, you know?โ€

Sabine also smiled. "Girl, please. Everyone knows your thing is being a royal pain in my ass." We couldn't let it get too sappy now. "I won't tell. Promise. Now, what do we hug or...what? Sabine felt a warmth in her chest. It sucked and was wonderful at the same time. She didn't have bonding with Leah on her bingo card, but she wasn't upset.

Leah actually laughed at that. โ€Know what? Sure. Just donโ€™t shred your arms.โ€ Leah swing an arm over Sabineโ€™s shoulder. โ€You can be pretty non-bitchy when you-

Sabine broke off the hug. She hadn't intended to see Leah's memories, but she had inadvertently. And what she saw was....horrible. It made her physically sick. What kind of monster does that? But Sabine knew monsters existed and that they weren't the boogie men that lived under your bed. They were the very people in under the same roof.

"I- I am so sorry Leah. I didn't intend to do that, I promise! I didn't mess with it either. God, I am so fucking sorry." Sabine felt herself getting on the verge of tears, both because of the horrendous thing she witnessed, but also because of how terribly she treated Leah in the past (and partially because of those fucking bees).

Leah flinched back as if she had been punched. She felt Sabine trawl through her memories, and considering Leah didnโ€™t have many good memories, it wasnโ€™t hard to imagine what sort of thing she saw. Her knee-jerk reaction spark a snapping noise in the ground. A fissure, no wider than Leahโ€™s forearm splintered outwards away from them both, without Leah even realizing she had done it. โ€What the hell? I thought you-โ€œ She stopped midsentence, trying to reel herself back in. Sabine didnโ€™t do that on purpose.

She caught her breath and tried again. โ€You didnโ€™t mean to do that. Itโ€™s fine. We were just- We were having a moment. Donโ€™t worry about it. I didnโ€™t mean to shout at you.โ€

Sabine could feel she was moments away from getting obliterated before Leah controlled herself. Sabine could hardly blame her. "I'm usually good at controlling that. I don't know what happened. It won't happen again. I can see why you don't want your dad here. From what I saw though, the next time I see him, it's hands on sight. That fucker doesn't deserve another moment of happiness."

"You- Fuck." It didn't feel good knowing Sabine had just witnessed Leah in one of the most vulnerable points of her life. It was mortifying in some ways and just anxiety-inducing in others. Leah, for a moment, considered just running off and forgetting about this conversation. But Sabine was actually being nice to her. They never had a conversation that went this way. "You're right... He doesn't. Thanks. Now get back over here." She said, spreading her arms out so they could hug for real this time.

Sabine knew Leah was contemplating all sorts of things, and to her credit, she remained. Sabine had seen Leah in multiple new lights. Sabine also remembered Agatha's fortune. Granted, it most likely had to do with her mother (and that was something Sabine wasn't ready to face quite yet) but Sabine also figured she had to change some things presently. Why not have one of those things be her relationship with Leah.

"Baise-le," Sabine said in her native tongue before moving to Leah and, rather than a hug, took Leah in and kissed her gently on the lips. If Sabine were being honest, she had wanted to do that before (Leah was hot after all) but the moment of vulnerability made it seem worth it.

Leah... Wasn't prepared for that. Her mind started racing all over again, but it was in a better way than just a minute ago. Sure, Sabine was a bitch, but she was carrying a sword right now... And Leah secretly had a thing for blondes. She rapidly blinked several times while holding Sabine's gaze.

..."Fuck." She said, after numerous seconds of being speechless, and just went in for another kiss, swinging an arm around Sabine's lower back and holding her there. Her mind simply wasn't in charge anymore.

It tasted so good and, once Leah had accepted it, Sabine went fully in. The two stood there, embraced and in the moment, not caring who saw. Sabine's mind was going 120 MPH and she didn't care. All that mattered right here and now was this kiss.

Once satiated, Sabine tilted her head back to look at Leah. "This is going to make things interesting in the dorm room." Sabine stepped back, adjusting her clothes. "Well, that was....good. Great even. Do you want to head back to the others or...?" Sabine let the question hang there. As far as she was concerned, the day could not get better.

"Not particularly... Flaming bees and too many people. How about we just- I dunno, head back to the dorms for a bit?" She felt like she was on fire after that, but... Damn. Sabine was a good kisser. "Let everyone else worry about the flaming bugs." She hadn't let go of Sabine just yet.

Sabine thought about it and, yeah, she did not want to go back to the flaming bees. Thinking about it sent her to panic mode, so she opted to be horny instead. "You know what, you're right. Let's go." She unfurled herself from Leah, taking the girl by the hand as they made their way to the dorms, not giving a fuck who saw them. After all, Sabine enjoyed being watched.

Calliope listened as, slowly, one by one, each of the others introduced themselves and their powers. But it wasn't only that. Essentially, Banjo set off a domino effect of others unleashing their traumas of the past and what brought them here. She hadn't intended for it to get that far, but maybe it was for the best? They were supposed to be a team (though the team switch was still looming over their heads).

Calliope felt an arm around her and immediately tensed up. Her mind warped back to early high school and....well let's just say that seemingly perfect young girls had reputations that people acted on, whether it was true or not. She looked over to see it was Banjo who did so. She relaxed, allowing him to continue. It was also sweet of him to give Katja his food.

What surprised her the most was Trace opening up. Calliope hadn't expected that. She expected Trace to unleash into all of them, saying how stupid this all was, and going off to brood somewhere else. Instead, they shared their ability. As creepy as it was (and it was fucking creepy) it was also impressive. Everyone's abilities were.

Calli supposed she should also share. It was only fair. "So I admittedly grew up in a very privileged home. My father is a senator in the United States. He worked hard to get there, especially since the country looks down on people of color, even if they were here legally. To that end, once he achieved it, everyone else was expected to fall in line. We had to look a certain way, act a certain way. We couldn't hang out with certain kids if it made us look bad. We were limited in how we interacted with the world. Every time we left the house we were expected to be perfect. Get perfect grades. One slip=up and we paid the price. It was almost like we had to be one unit rather than be individuals."

"Recently, like a few months ago, the pressure got too much. I was out with my parents, making the rounds and showing how great we were, when I just...lost it. I knew what my powers were. Had known for a long time. I think my mother knew, but not my father. But when I lost it, there was ice everywhere. It destroyed the town center's water fountain. The cross-section streets were destroyed. Hell, it looked like fucking Christmas in July. I made it snow! And everyone just...looked at me like I was a freak. A monster. I could handle the strangers looking at me like that. But it was my father's expression that destroyed me. It's funny, he thinks I'm here to learn to hide it better. Jokes on him, I guess."

Calli brought her knees up to her and wrapped her arms around them. She felt lighter, but she would not say she felt better.

Better took time.

Harlowe followed the voice that responded to her. Lakisha, she introduced herself. Harlowe chuckled at her comment. Loud and weird? Sounded like a perfect roommate to her. "Hey Kisha, name's Harlowe. I'd be happy to bunk with you. Loud and weird don't bother me. I can tune it out if it gets too much, but I grew up with six brothers and sisters. I'm used to it."

And more so to the others, she continued. "I suppose in the vein of team building, we should disclose what our abilities are. I can show more than tell." Harlowe took out her phone and started playing a song. Obviously, the volume was low. Harlowe focused, allowing the song to get louder and louder until it was like her phone was connected to a loudspeaker.

Beggin'

Everyone would be able to hear her music. Hopefully, the others enjoyed it. Harlowe began to speak, but as she did so the volume on her music lowered to allow her to be heard. "I can do more than that, of course. But I control sound. I also have really attuned hearing."

Harlowe allowed the music to continue, but she kept it at a level that didn't prevent others from speaking. She was just happy to share her music and her abilities without fear. Perhaps this would be a good environment for her.
The car ride was silent as Geraldine Pritchard pressed lightly on the gas pedal, moving through the Canadian wilderness. Harlowe didn't know where they were going. She expected to be sent to juvenile detention or, more likely, prison after what she did. She moved the left sleeve of her shirt, eyeing the bruises there. They healed somewhat, but she could still see the finger marks on her skin. She rolled it down and glanced at Geraldine to see if she noticed.

She did. Of course she did.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Harlowe sunk into herself. She hated feeling small. She never wanted to feel small. "I can handle myself," was all Harlowe said. Geraldine scoffed, though it was more a chuckle than a mockery. "Clearly dear, if the destruction is to be believed."

Harlowe's mind flashed back to the McMiller household. The father, Humphrey, was a drunk who hurt whoever he could get his hands on. Harlowe thought she would have a protector in the mother, Heather, but more often than not, whenever something went wrong, Heather immediately blamed Harlowe and that was when Humphrey went after her. Moving around the foster care system, she was used to abuse. How people like the McMiller's got chosen was beyond her. She made a note that, in the future, she would do her best to bring families like that to justice.

Not the kind of justice she delivered though.

She knew she was a Hyperhuman for a long time. She didn't tell anyone or show anyone. She knew what would have happened. She would be captured and taken somewhere. Experimented on. Locked up. Who knew? Or worse...

But she had had enough. She knew if she didn't stop him he would escalate. She saw the looks he gave her. So when he tried, she screamed.

And it was loud. She did so unwillingly, but it had to be a defense mechanism. Her ability to manipulate sound must have stepped in to help, increasing her voice to a shattering effect. Humphrey was bleeding from his ears, she was sure she shattered his eardrums. The house was blown, half of it gone and the other in disarray.

Geraldine picked her up after that.

So now Harlowe was sure she was going to be locked up. But why were they in Canada? Geraldine must be a mind reader, because she answered the unspoken questions. "Had I known earlier, I could have stepped in. Gotten you out before this....event happened. I don't mean the abuse, though I do wish I was made aware of that also. I know of your abilities Harlowe. I understand they can be scary. That's why we are going somewhere else. Not another home. Not a laboratory. A school. A boarding school if you want to be technical. A school for people like you to learn how to manage your abilities without fear. Be amongst your peers. You also get a good education. You are already enrolled, though we are a bit late. The opening ceremony must have started. Here we are."

Harlowe glanced out the window and saw the school. It looked normal, she supposed, though if it was a school for Hyperhumans she was sure there was more that met the eye.

Geraldine got out of the car and opened the truck, taking out Harlowe's suitcases. "I packed everything you'll need. There's a strict uniform code, but there are times when you can dress how you want. I am sure after the ceremony you can get settled. And you'll need this." Geraldine took out Harlowe's phone, or rather her music player since that was the main reason Harlowe had it. She handed it to Harlowe. "I'll check in when I can, but the staff here are, more or less, your guardians now. You'll be 18 soon and we can discuss what that means when you leave here. But I trust you'll behave. This is an opportunity for you Harlowe. Don't squander it." Not one for sentimentality, Geraldine went back in the car and drove off.

Harlowe turned to face the school. This was going to be interesting.

After the opening ceremony and running to get changed and ready, Harlowe followed the others in her assigned group to their campsite. She looked at those with her. She wondered what their stories were. Harlowe, headphones in her ears, turned up the song she was listening to.

Strength

As the beat filled her, she considered her options. This was to be an opportunity, though she didn't know what to expect. The opening ceremony outlined a bit, but she was still lost. She barely had time to read up on classes or the school map before she had to get going. Perhaps the others knew more?

Once at the campsite, things got underway real quick. Pizzas were being made and their tents looked like something out of Modern Architecture magazine. This was not camping.

Harlowe noticed a few of the others were all getting together to talk and exchange information. It was kind of nice to see people getting along quickly. She sat down and took her headphones out. She didn't want to appear antisocial. She overheard someone asking about tent sharing. "I don't believe we were assigned anyone. I'm open to sharing with whoever. Name's Harlowe. I'm a pretty sound sleeper. Probably due to my abilities."

Harlowe was one of seven children, very close to the bottom. Soon after her youngest siblign was born, her mother passed away. That left their father to attempt to take care of seven children all close together in age. To his credit, he did his best. Out of all his children, Harlowe was one the he saw fire in. A spirit just like her mother. It was Harlowe he instilled words of wisdom and a desire to fight when others try to hold you down.

However, her father couldn't manage the kids and soon they were taken out of their home and placed in the system. The siblings were separated, Harlowe moving around, never quite finding a place that felt like home. Suffering at the hands of people who never should have been approved to be foster parents, Harlowe sunk herself into music, finding escape in the words and melodies. It was here that Harlowe discovered her hyperhuman ability, using the music, she was able to increase the sound without the volume button.

Harlowe knew Hyperhumans were not looked well on and she didn't need another reason for foster parents to turn her away. However, after another round of physical abuse, Harlowe unleashed her power, uttering a scream that shattered a chunk of the house and left the abuser with permanent hearing loss. Harlowe was taken by her placement agent, sure she was on her way to prison. What Harlowe had not expected was to find herself at the front gates of some boarding school in Canada.

Harlowe's ability is Sonokinesis or sound manipulation. Harlowe is able to take sound waves and maneuver them to her satisfaction. This includes mimicking, intensifying, hushing, distorting, warping, strengthening, echoing, speeding up, and slowing down sounds. Low frequencies can be dangerous and deadly to humans, causing internal damage, and high frequencies can't be heard through normal methods. Harlowe can use her ability in a fight if need be, such as a sonic scream or rendering her enemies unconscious. A side-effect of her ability is her finely tuned sense of hearing.

L I M I T A T I O N S || C R E A T I O N

Harlowe cannot just create a sound by thinking about it. For Harlower to be able to manipulate sound, a sound must exist. As an example, Harlowe uses her voice, she must begin speaking to be able to manipulate her voice. To silence her footsteps, she must make the sound of the footstep so she can manipulate it.

W E A K N E S S E S || N U L L I F I C A T I O N

Anything that can be used to nullify sound essentially makes Harlowe powerless. If Harlowe cannot hear the sound, she cannot manipulate the sound. Even with her great hearing, if she is deafened by anything, she cannot use her powers.

It's the same damn dream again.

She is standing on a beach. She is not sure where the beach is, but she has seen it before. She can hear footsteps on the sand. She turns to look but sees no one. She turns back and is face-to-face with a black shadow. The shadow takes on various forms in these dreams. This time, it is a man. One of the many who raised a fist at her. His eyes are vacant and soulless. His ears have blood running down them. His neck is twisted at an unfortunate angle. He opens his mouth and has no tongue.

But he screams. And she screams.

And she is awake. Covered in sweat she looks around. She is safe. Or as safe as one can be.

Harlowe is wary. She doesn't trust strangers on a good day, but being that she is a Black girl in America, she is doubly distrusting. Though she knows how to take care of herself. She will speak to the person and see what they want. If she can help, great. If not, she can at least point them in the right direction. This is the type of person she wants to help, after all.

A N I N T R U D E R A L A R M H A S B E E N S E T O F F O N C A M P U S, H O W D O Y O U R E A C T?

Harlowe fights her gut instinct to lower the volume of the alarm. It is sounding for a reason. She does not panic, rather she will go and see if anyone else needs help. This could be for a number of reasons and it would serve no one to cause panic if it is not warranted.

Harlowe is not the type of person to keep her feelings to herself. If she does not like you, you will know about it. Often considered loud and abrasive, Harlowe sees herself as "true to herself". Harlowe does not sit by while others are hurting or in need of help. If Harlowe notices someone being put down, she will quickly step in to take on the challenge, even if the person she is up against is bigger, stronger, faster, or whatever else. This can lead her to dangerous situations, but she does not care. Evil wins when good people are silent. Despite this, Harlowe keeps her friends close and is protective of them, going to battle for them whenever they ask (and, more often than not, when they don't ask). She is slow to trust, but once the trust is earned she is an ally for life.

Harlowe does not know the definition of silence. Since grade school, when her 3rd-grade teacher brought a test up that was never assigned, Harlowe has taken it upon herself to speak to move mountains. Harlowe is comfortable in front of a crowd and is easily able to sway people to her side. When faced with opposition, Harlowe doesn't back down and, instead, is fueled by the battle.

S K I L L || E N H A N C E D H E A R I N G

A side-effect of her hyperhuman ability, Harlowe has enhanced hearing. This allows her to hear things the average person is unable to. A whisper, soft footsteps. If the other person doesn't want Harlowe to know, she is more than likely able to hear it.

T A L E N T || D J / M U S I C P R O D U C T I O N

Music has always spoken to Harlowe. Ever since she could remember, she has had a keen eye for music. While not so much singing or playing an instrument, Harlow is able to take music and create something memorable out of it. She does this both by being a DJ and songwriting, as well as the technical know-how of producing it. This could be a byproduct of her hyperhuman ability, but either way Harlowe can make music truly sing.

Fit Of The Day

Obviously, their situation wasn't ideal. Granted, they weren't dead. Could have easily gotten them in the sphere things that brought them here.

Perry didn't mind that though looking at Flynn. She shook it off. Focus Perry! Disaster is abound. Perry thought for a second: where were Ed and Barry? Did they follow her here? She knew spirits, once bound, were connected to her, but she hadn't considered how that would be in space. She never thought ONCE she would even be in space. Taking a moment while the others talked amongst themselves, she reached out to see if there were any spirits nearby. If she had to fight, she hoped there would be someone here. Otherwise, this would be over long before it started.

Thankfully, she felt a connection and recognized it. Both Ed and Barry were here. She felt solace in that fact. Able to take on whatever was next!

Which, as it turned out, seemed to be coming. Footsteps approaching them. Could be friend or foe. "Let's not be too hasty. Could be a similar thing like Flynn where they were brought here. Or could be some horrible monster creatures living on this rock. Best to be prepared regardless." Not much of a fighter herself, Perry raised her fists, ready to unleash a world of mild hurt on whoever was coming.

First Day Fit

As weird as it was having a sword, Mai was on some weird bullshit now too where she deja vu'd regarding her sword. How was that possible? She had only just gotten it and from her mother of all people. "The day keeps getting weirder and it was already batshit to begin with. Maybe the others will know? But even then, I'll be coming with a fucking sword on my hip. That'll get their attention."

Sabine left the mailroom, making sure Mai followed, as they went back to the ship. Hopefully, the others had gotten their fill of the thing and were ready to move on elsewhere. "Obviously I am not joining some nerd science club, but I wonder what other options there are. Any clubs you are interested in?" Debate? Drama? Mock Trial? Yearbook? She would have to be in a leadership position, of course. She relished the opportunities. After all, despite this being a weird school, it was still a school. And whatever happened after, anything that gave her a leg up was necessary.

Soon, they reached the ship and saw the others. Well, their group at least. There were some more people here that she was, more or less, not excited by. Some familiar, some not. "Hey losers, miss us? Notice anything new?" Sabine asked, making sure her sword was out and displayed. She directed this to mainly Danni, Dorian, and April.
