@Donut Look Now I also did some work in Closed Captioning, and this is how companies shaft us now - they use AI to machine translate, then throw it at us for "proofreading" so they can pay us less.

Appearance: Bane Halrond is, at first glance, a rather imposing man, though after a few moments of words exchanged, he reveals himself to be more tired than gruff. He has seen his masters and his own men fall to the Shadowbane, and to the influence of both greed and magic, and as a result, it has left him with a deep-seated anger towards the former and a wariness towards the latter, as it has upended the security and meaning of his profession. He now ekes out a living as a mercenary for people who require an escort for security purposes, and he spends much of the coin maintaining his weaponry and armor - or what is left of its glory days. What little is left is spent on strong drink, as well as other, warmer comforts that seedy taverns provide.
Albrecht rushed to work, still hungover, but that didn't mean he had to look the way he felt. He'd gotten a ride from a friend in HR - they seemed to be full of the nicer sort - and made it just in time, before the clock managed to mark him as late. This was a good thing, as he wasn't quite known for his punctuality, but he was known for doing all he could to get the job done. Case in point, his right arm was still sore from that fall he'd taken, leaping off a building and into some dumpster. Nothing a nip of good whiskey couldn't fix, after work.
As he made his way onto the floor, he high-fived some of those he'd passed and talked shop. In other words, people inflated their stories about the creatures they'd faced off, and he joined right in. Everyone knew that everyone was talking themselves up, of course, but Albrecht understood not all of it was meant in malice. It was a good thing, to have won, and if not, to have survived.
"What's the next target?" he asked, lazily glancing about as he propped his feet up on his desk. "Ophelia, if we get paired up again, do you think you could do that thing with the vortex?" The man gestured with his hands, speaking as much with them as with his mouth. "I don't know how it worked, but it made quick work of the horde we chased down. I'll have to buy you a drink sometime. Because of you, I managed to get a table at ST4T1C."
So it went, with the wizard's voice mixing with the rest of the so-called Marketing and Sales team, all of them dressed to kill. Of them, Albrecht liked to think he was the best, at both.
A few questions: - At this point, is it everyone's 1st day at work? - Regarding our departments, do we also do stuff directly related to tgeir namesakes? (Ex: Marketing and Sales are described as the "hitmen" but do they also market and sell things? If so, who are the customers? Are we also pretending to sell stuff for non-Wizards?) - Can we enter the building or do we all need a keycard / spell / password?
I'm open to the idea. If a player Wild wants to bind up, shoot me a message and we can coordinate.
It wouldn't even have to be a previous binding, could be something brand new from the characters running into each other.
I may be interested, and I think my idea for a Wild could work with your character's angle. Will submit before DMing you to make sure it's all fleshed out first.
Hello! That is entirely up to the player. Wilds are known to have physical forms or ghost-like forms. However, all forms have a physical heart present.
The Wild becomes bound to the human. If they are spectral they will live inside the human. If they are corporeal they will live around the human. They will have a mental tether that binds their souls, allowing them to communicate telepathically. The Wild will feast on the humans emotions, either positive or negative, depending on the type of Wild. And the human will in turn gain powers. These powers can be enhanced if enough suffering happens.
Thanks for the details. I have a few more questions: - How big can they get? I was thinking of making a Wild that feeds on fear or anger, and it would be reasonable to assume these emotions are abundant in such a setting, which means they are quite well-fed. - Is there a set distance between Wild and bound human (kinda like how the Wi-Fi signals weaken and stop working after a certain point)? If this happens, what are the effects (ex: human's Wild-given powers stop working, Wild gets hungrier, etc.) - Regarding the powers, does it have to be consensual for it to work, or can a Wild give and take away the powers freely? And when bound to one, does it mean it cannot choose another? - Can a Wild give powers to only one human? - Can a Wild feed on more than one human's emotions? I feel like the answer here is yes... though I asked just to be sure. - If Wilds feed on emotions, do they have their own? If so, can they feed on each other? - How are Wilds born/created? (Or is this a plot point you will reveal later in the story?) - If the Wilds were brought into this world via accident, what is keeping them from staying in their world / going back through the tear?

Appearance: Albrecht stands at a relatively shorter height of 5'7'', though one wouldn't know it by the gravity of his presence. The man always seems to attract attention wherever he goes, for better or for worse. He dresses in a way that is best described as elegantly striking - detractors might call it a tad excessive, however. With fire-red hair, an icy gaze and a confident smile, without saying a word, the man immediately impresses upon strangers a strong first impression. He also appears to be unable to hide his emotions, making him a wonderful person to invite to card games after hours. And Albrecht loves being invited to anything resembling a party - all he needs is a drink in hand.
On the clock, he wears expensive suits and shirts, paired with whatever jewelry is fashionable at the time. Off the clock, however, he tends to don a more casual set of clothes, with a wide variety of styles, though decidedly more low-key than his suits.
Worldview (Personality): He believes in the power of might, and he will use it to protect what is his, and all those he holds close. He also seems to be focused on living in the present moment, and can be rather prone to making rash decisions. Despite being prone to flashes of anger or irritation, he is also equally quick to make a teasing quip here and there, as well as one of the first to try and speak to people in a group.

Resume (Background): Albrecht grew up in an orphanage, where he was the runt for the longest time. He was often bullied and beaten into submission, causing missed meals, injuries, and a rather lonely, terrible time. It wasn't as if he'd been too cowardly to fight either - he was simply too weak at the time, and at the time, he feared he would always be weak.
Until the day his magic came and everything changed.
Of course, it had to be fire. His entire being boiled with rage, sorrow and frustration whenever he lost those fights in the yard, in the canteen, in the classroom, the sound of laughter ringing in his ears. So on his 12th miserable year of existence, when he threw a punch that didn't just hit but also burnt his foe, he couldn't control himself. The other boy was sent to the hospital, his face utterly disfigured. Ever since that day, Albrecht was reborn. All he needed was one foothold, one win, and once he got his foot on the door, he pushed as hard as he could.
Thankfully, nobody believed the bully he burned, when he tried to tell others about the fire, and when Albrecht tried to show it off, he simply did not have enough control over his magic yet to summon it at will. Eventually, he was found by one of those wizard orders who sought to find the ones who might have fallen through the cracks of society - they also made sure that those who knew Albrecht soon forgot who he was, with the help of magic.
Now, Albrecht was by no means a brilliant mind, but he was hungry, to the point of desperation. What meager opportunity for his sort seemed to be doing dirty work, and he had no choice but to roll up his sleeves and get dirty. He pushed himself, gravitating towards security work, disciplining his body and securing some semblance of control over his life. He also started to get a taste for the finer things in life, though he realized that getting caught stealing was probably going to be more trouble than it was worth. To pay for his classes and his inflating wants, he worked terrible jobs guarding some questionable employers, often dealing with people from all walks of life. It gave him a great education in the different ways people could be monsters, and soon enough, he'd learned how to fight nice, too, with a gritted smile.
One day, he'd heard through a regular employer about a particularly nasty fey attack on a group of mundane humans being averted by some formidable group of people. When pressed, the man revealed that they were affiliated with a strange company called Magicorp. The employer also pointedly told Albrecht that he wasn't good enough to get in.
The day after that, Albrecht immediately spent his last money on a one way ticket to apply to a job he wasn't even sure he would get. Thankfully, he did - but not without many persistent attempts, many of which involved setting off fire alarms.

Other Junk (Misc.): - Albrecht seems to have a fondness for roses, given how he collects things related to them. - One of the reasons why Albrecht makes it a point to wear fine clothes during work (aside from looking and feeling good) is that it showcases his abilities - to return from a mission with his clothes intact means he managed to control his flames and subdue his target in a skillful manner... or so he claims. The simpler explanation is that he has a spare outfit he wears before returning to the office to report. - He enjoys board games, but is a sore loser.
Damn, I find this very interesting, but I feel like I wouldn't be able to write properly because I know too little about racing and the jargon used. Do you have any recommendations for a crash course of sorts?
That moment when you’re so exhausted, you fall asleep in your desk chair… @rabidbacon considering it’s been a VERY long time since magic was openly practiced, I’d say you’d be hard pressed to find a mortal who knows or actually believes in magic anymore. Unless it was specifically revealed to that particular mortal then, it hey likely don’t know about it. Most people wouldn’t really believe kids either and children who have magic either wouldn’t understand it enough to use it without training, or they’d be heavily discouraged from using it openly.
Same goes for @rabidbacon@Crimson Flame@Archazen but if you three could add a few more details as to how your characters came to Magicorp (specifically for the ones who don’t have magical parents) that’d be great. Otherwise, everything looks pretty good!
