Bio

I'm Randomness. I also go by others names when it's unavailable, but those are usually some variation of Randomness or Random in general.

I like anime, video games, and science. I'm currently in school studying to become an radiologic technologist. I'm in the initial stages, so I'm on my way. My favorite anime is Eureka Seven, and my favorite video game is a tie between Kingdom Hearts and Etrian Odyssey.

I have several story ideas, but currently lack motivation to write them out. I have plenty of notes for some of them so when I finally get around I'm prepared. That said, I absolutely enjoy group story telling like you do through role playing. One of my interests involved is world building and the connections between them if any.

One of my characters travels between worlds, dimensions and universes. What these are meant to be are different RPs. There seems to be some taboo around such a character, but I feel that is should be judged on a case by case basis. The idea of a seasoned character who has been on many adventures being able to share stories in passing sounds like a fun idea. I thought it would be an interesting idea that those stories could be from other RPs. He isn't meant to highjack the current RP, or be over powered. I admit, I can see that concern. Really though, he is meant to be an eccentric character with stories and treasures not before seen. The effects of these stories are meant to be entertaining, like fairy tales to the current cast. And what treasures he has or can use I'd restrict to what makes sense in the current world. But like I said before, it should be case by case. A learner, and a story teller. I think it's fun to link concept together through this character so the story could live on in new ways and perhaps give new RPs a different kind of character. Without upending everything of course.

I would think it better if we made our own discord.

I'm down for world building, it's one of my favorite aspects as story writing. I can make maps, cool geographical features, even magical areas. I can also help work on the physics and laws around how magic works. Though I like building worlds, I'd need someone else's input for things like governments, kingdoms, and legal laws since my interest lacks when it comes to that.
You have my interest.
If we're still in a character accepting mood, here is that gnome for consideration.

Very useful. That works for my idea. It won’t be for a couple days though before I can post it.

Edit: actually, before I make him let me put out the idea and get your opinion. I was imagining a gnome who kept upkeep on the silver sun armaments if there are any and infrastructure such as watermills, grinders, smithies, etc. He get things to s passable condition. He enjoys making odd inventions that more often than not explode or do something completely different than expected. It’s a miracle that he can fix things to begin with.
So the world is like a giant sliding puzzle. Cool.

So if that slot is filled, I have an idea did a native character, but did he to bring him into fruition, I have another question.

What is the technology like? Like how advanced is it? I imagine basic things like iron works and cannons, but anything farther? Perhaps with steel, automation, magical machines and/or electrical power.
Do I need to resubmit my resubmission? Really the only thing that changed was the ability section.

Also, I asked this question, but it seems to have flown under the radar. Each time Silver Sun lost, were they physically relocated to the literal edge of the world? Or were their assets magically taken but they remained in place? I ask because when you talked about fertility in the land it sounded like winning a challenge would suddenly make the land fertile as opposed to moving to more fertile grounds.
I kinda did when I reposted the CS, though the wording isn’t much different.
And for the slight rework done to Aspen?
Again, he cannot directly solve the problem. Bad land will always be bad land until something changes. He also can't make plants spontaneously appear.

That said, I don't mind removing those particular abilities, the one where he can revive plants and the one where he can grow plants in bad soil (from a post-game / post-story perspective, he'd probably gain that ability once he becomes a world tree). Would he be eligible if his only power to plant-life were to grow and cultivate existing plants assuming they're alive. If the plant is living in bad soil doing so would only accelerate its death. In exchange to not undermine his power since he is a plant himself more or less, use his own body to grow fruitless weapons such as thorns, vines, and acids, perhaps armor made of bark?

Also I might be missing something, did the Silver Sun physically change locations with each loss, moving them to the literal edge of the world? Or is it more symbolic for how much they lost?

He cannot solve the problem. He can help lessen it. Aspen can grow a plant in bad soil, but he cannot make bad soil fertile. Just as well, the edge of Nova Terra could be in such a state that not even he can grow anything there. It’s another world with its own rules.

In line with his story and the premise given about the world in the OP, Aspen would not just stay there at the edge. He seeks a new place to take root and become a world tree. Anywhere but as close to the center as possible will not suit him. Basically he agreed to help under the assumption doing so will bring him closer to the center. He has a very valid story reason to move forward. If the Silver Sun chooses to settle, he’d move on his own leaving them behind and with him any amendments he brought to their situation. I figured he be used like a utility, not a solution. The silver Sun is in a horrid state, having an apple tree won’t suddenly improve their situation. He’s not a one man forest (yet), there is only so much he can do.

I can understand the folly of my previous characters. But cherry picking powers so that no one can help a struggling civilization beyond fighting to get back to the top seems a bit ludicrous.

I’m waiting for what the GM has to say, but I have no problem removing his ability to revive plants, making it so he can only grow and cultivate living plants. This way if things are as bad as described they’d have to move forward before he can make any meaningful impact.
