Goodness. No inspiration or activity for me on here for months (even years!) and now all at once, I have ideas for multiple RPs!

Started a new RP, and I'm excited for it, for the first time in a while. I hope it's a success!

Man, I can't wait to roleplay as Teak Root Furniture. Sounds wild.

As Eddie Izzard once said, "Americans say 'Urbs' English people say 'Herbs', because there's a f*cking 'H' in it"

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom.
I have a lot of fandoms, but I don't really like fandom RP's - or at least, the ones that come up. I often find them a bit lacking in ideas, or too far away from what actually makes the thing I'm a fan of enjoyable.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones. I dig giant robots, and I love military aircraft. I'm also a very dedicated and proud Brony and furry.

Also, to add to the previous; I will be away for a few days from tommorrow, and probably won't be online to check things as much.
We do have the minimum number of players I'd wish for now, although I'm ideally hoping for a few more. Nonetheless, I'll try and get an OOC up after my return home which will have a lot more depth and detail.
I'm down for the aircraft deal if you're still looking for players?

Absolutely; I am interested in seeing if I can get this going. Thanks for showing an interest!
Hokay; so it seems like we have the minimum number of people interested - at least - for this to get started.
I am going to be going away for the weekend as of tomorrow (and early at that T__T) but I have the following week off, so upon my return I'll put an OOC together and tag everyone here with it as soon as it's up. That should give a lot more info about the setting and the world, and everything else in it!
Talk about fast moving, mecha and posts it would seem

Hopefully not so fast moving I can't keep up...!
I've got my post up at least. Feels a little bit lacking, especially without all that fancy formatting but it's there. I'm sure it'll get more involved and interesting as we go on.

Garrett drummed his fingers on the arm on his pilots' seat rhythmically as he listened to the disgustingly, adorably, perk AI relay their instructions, and the conversation that boiled up in reply. He followed the back and forth of his fellow pilots as they discussed the upcoming sortie and what their roles and objectives would be. The mix of personalities was interesting. So far, no-one seemed to clash, which was a relief, and nobody was aggressively obnoxious or arrogant.
Well, so far.
He chuckled as he heard -Tallow, wasn't it? The girl with the nice ink? - boisterously encourage the attack on the defensive positions, and Rabbit, yet another of the wonderfully beautiful women he'd lucked on finding himself working alongside chime in to join the attack. Toggling his own comms, he spoke up as well.
"Well, ladies. I hope you don't mind me joining your party; it seems like the attack on the comms is in hand, so I'll be glad to add my firepower to yours in taking on the defences. Snow and Sentinel are ready to go, over"
He leant back in the command chair, hanging comfortably in the straps as Sentinel's monitors remained in standby mode, the full-surround screens dim for the moment and casting a only the barest of glow over his features as she sat with his helmet on, but visor open, waiting for the ships' bays to open and release them.
I’d be interested in this. I like the concept and the highlighting of character drama along with the action.

Thank you! I'm glad you're interested and you like that aspect. IMO, all the best mecha anime are about the characters as much as they are about the machines, so it's something that's definitely going to be a firm and integral part of anything that does end up happening.
Off the top of my head, there's probably a lack of usable runways, so likely flying some sort of Vertical Take-off & Landing or Short Take-off & Landing. Perhaps some new generation of Harrier JumpJets...

But with the alien invasion angle, 80's, and anime - perhaps some sort of transforming aircraft based partially on alien tech like they had in the anime Robotech / Macross? It's a plane, it's a half-plane with legs, it's a 50' tall mecha with a gun.

Watch out for tanks.

Just a thought.

"The idea being that the players will pilot 'modern' to our time, and maybe even a little older - i.e. Cold War - aircraft with retrofitted gadgets..."

Not really a mecha game, or one where I'm looking to invent original aircraft/machines for the players to use.
I appreciate your interest in adding input to the setting, but I already have my idea clear and in mind, and not looking to make it a shared creative experience, as I have a firm concept.
If you're more interested in transforming mecha, however, I do have a mecha-based RP I'm trying to get off the ground as well - roleplayerguild.com/topics/191324-sha…

Amara had lined up smartly with the other graduating cadets, feeling a thrill of achievement and excitement as she did so. She wasn't the first Caitian to attend Starfleet Academy, and she wouldn't be - all going well, anyway - the first to graduate.
Nor was she someone gifted or burdened with any kind of specific of exceptional circumstance. There was nothing 'special' attached to her that singled her out for exceptionalism. But she was proud for herself that she had made it this far, and was standing here within the sea of other cadets. She felt like she was part of something bigger, yet also still herself; her own skills, talents, and personal qualities had been recognised, put to the test, and found to be made of the ill-defined, but much vaunted 'right stuff', as the humans called it.
This final task, the test cruise, had been the buzz of talk for the last few weeks, and sifting out grains of truth from rumours, hyperbole, and exaggerated accounts passed on by those who had graduated was an impossible task.
None of it dampened the mingled feelings of excitement and trepidation that fought in her belly and they were only briefly stilled as Admiral April gave his speech. She listened with interest, her tufted, cat-like ears perked. It was a brief, brisk address and with nothing of surprise - she imagined that he must have given dozens of such speeches over the years - and then it was time to receive her assignment. She cottoned on quickly to other names as they were assigned to ships, glancing to catch a look at prospective crewmates - and then as her own name was called out, she stood to rigid attention and alert, calling out a firm 'aye-aye, sir!' and quickly getting out of the way as more of her fellow cadets crowded the space to receive their appointments.

It didn't take her long to get herself ready; her bag had already been packed in an attempt to use up nervous energy earlier on... energy that she now had more of to burn off somehow, with an hour and forty minutes to kill. She shot off a quick subspace message to her parents, telling them of her assignment and the name of her ship... that used up all of five minutes. She considered eating, but she was too anxious and excited to do more than scarf down a snack.
Finally settling on just walking, she made a quick lap of the Academy grounds, letting the San Francisco sunlight beam down on her fur, letting it warm her up. She watched birds wheel overhead in the blue skies, paused to look at the enormous red, metal bridge that stretched across the bay - although, why it was called the 'Golden Gate' when it was clearly red, she never quite understood - and people-watched for a short while, finding it starting to calm her nerves, the anxiousness being replace with excitement as the time approached.
A chime sounded on her personal PADD as the clock wound down, and she made her way to the shuttle pad.

The trip was uneventful; and as she waited with the rest of the group assigned to the Athena she got good glances in at her fellow cadets. Some faces she recognised from around the Academy, even though she'd never spoken to them in person... Should their glances have met, she exchanged a nervous smile with a typically Catian swivel of her ears in curiousity and the tip of her tail twitching, but no words were exchanged for now, other than a sibiliant and smooth 'G'Rfeld, Acting Chief Tactical Officer, Reporting in, Sir'
@Silverwind Blade Ayo! You made this and didn't tell me?!

I feel betrayed. But I'm also interested.

Well, I kind of made it on a whim, and I was hoping it'd find it's own audience - but of course, I'd love to have you aboard, hun <3

If we can get a couple more interested people, I'll get an OOC together as soon as I'm able to.
This does seem rather interesting. been off the guild for a while and looking for some new stuff to get back into.

You'd absolutely be welcome. Definitely in need of players, so there's no issue with space at the moment for sure.
If we have at least one, preferably two more people, I'll start putting an OOC together
