[Kosara Sal Valas]
Age: 26
Species: Human
Physical Appearance: Kosara stands at 5.8 feet of height, with lean body and pale skin. She carries a number of different scars across her body, earned in various ways, though most have faded with time or are hidden underneath her clothing. Her face is unmared by scars however. Her green eyes tend to have an almost predatory feel to them whenever she stares.
Skills: - Aspiring pilot - Kosara's a very good pilot with most small craft and can operate most other vessels as long as she recognizes the control scheme or has some time to study it. While not an established ace, she's still able to give more than a few other pilots a run for their money.
- Gunslinger - Raised in space and the seediest of ports, among some of the greatest scum in the galaxy, she learned to be fast and deadly with a blaster. Hand to eye coordination always came naturally to her and she's rumored to be able to hit a tossed coin at 100 steps. In truth she has her moments, but it's a feeling that comes and goes, still she's expert marksman with a handgun.
- Lightning Reflexes - While not a trained skill per say, Kosara's years in the proverbial semi criminal wilds have honed her already impressive reflexes one step further. Be it piloting or drawing and aiming a gun, she's aiming to be always the faster one.
- Knive Fighting - One doesn't survive long without learning how to fight in close quorters. There are always enemies that try to get up close and gut you or worse. As such she learned to defend herself with a trusty blade. Originaly going for longer blades, she eventuallys switched to short blades that were much more in tune with her lean form, fast reflexes and dexterity.
Weaknesses: - This is NOT an overreaction!!!- Kosara's impressive reflexes and self preservation instincts have lelt her with the rather unfortunate side effect that she tends to react to any percieved notion of danger. For example should anyone even attempt a vaguely drawing a hidden weapon motion, she'd already draw her blaster at their head. It can be a blessing and a curse admittedly, it'd save her hide as often as it'd get her into trouble.
- I can help! Probably! - Kosara has the bad habbit of involving in things she probably shouldn't in her attempts to help people. She might be a merc, but never takes jobs involving harming civilians. After a fortunate(or unfortunate depending on who you ask) encounter in the past, she was taught the value of helping others. Much to the detriment of her previous criminal crew. Now she tends to offer her help to any cause she deems worthwhile enough, often without considering the repecussions. Help a small settlement to overthrow their pirate opressors? Sure, she's all up for it. Question she usually forgets to ask is - 'how many of them are there exactly?'
- I'M SNEAKING! - If there's one thing Kosara isn't, that's subtle. She's about as subtle as a hutt in a store for crystal tableware. The very concept is foreign to her, despite the many attempts to learn. She tends to be loud, direct and to the point. Sure she might hide for a while or be quiet, but chances are at some point, she's going to lose it and forget all about subtlety. She's kind of a clutz when it comes to the whole 'sneaky' deal.
Character History: Kosara story begins with quite the blast in a very literal sense. Her parents were part of a transport vessel's crew that hauled cargo across the galaxy. When she was being born, ironically the ship was under attack from pirates. Attack was a major success for the pirates as they managed to actually board and take over hte freighter. The crew were either killed or taken to serve as slave merchandise later at places that allow for that sort of thing. Her mother was captured and she, the lil newborn was as well. Needless to say it wasn't a great life and it was a pure miracle that the pirates didn't just kill her and be done with it. After all, who needs a baby as a slave, but they figured that a mother and her daughter would fetch a better price as a pair. Besides the mother was a looker, chances were the child would be one too.
Eventually she was sold to a different group of criminals where she and her mother ended up as slaves on a space station in the middle of nowhere, where they were sold to the older of a bar. A station that served as a hub for all the criminal elements in that corner of the galaxy. For hte next decade and a half she lived there, working every day without rest, forced to do all the menial work that was required to keep her master's properties in clean state, which was honestly a task that's nearly impossible, considering hte types of people collecting at the place every single day. In her years as a slave at that place, she had heard more different ways of cursing and swearing in different languages that she could ever remember, though she remembered quite a few.
Her life as a slave changed when she was 15. A string of unfortunate events struck her and her mother, which ultimately resulted in her mother's slow and painful death from sickness. Kosara was devastated, but she steeled herself and promised to both her mother and her self that she'd escape this Sarlac pit... Next chance she had, she ran away after a gut instinct. She struck her master's head with a metal pan with all force she could muster, sending him sprawling. Then she hit him a few dozen more times just to make sure, same way she had done to EVERY lowlife who had gotten a tad too touchy with her in the past few years as she began to grow up from her childish self and gradually start becoming an adult.
The escape was a weirdly successful endevour. She managed to get to a mercenary ship that was just departing and slip inside on a cargo crate that they were going to load up. By the time the mercs found her and anybody on the station figured she murdered her master, the ship was far away in hyperspace for anybody to do anything. The mercs figured they could probalby have her clean the ship since she was already there and in return they'd keep her off the station. So she did, but it didn't take long before one of the younger mercs got ideas about her. Ideas which resulted in him being beaten half to death with cleaning mop handle. Captain of the mercs was rather impressed by her reflexes and decided that if she could prove herself able and talanted enough they could use her. So they put her through the ringer, tested her reflexes which were among hte most impressive they've seen. In addition she displayed remarkable talent with a blaster and a knife in addition to her rapidly progressing piloting skills. In no time she became an official member of the small group of seedy mercenaries and her life as a hired thug began.
The life of a seedy merc was something that Kosara took to like fish to water. After living her whole life surrounded and ordered around by such lowlives, the chance to be free of being subject to it and forge her own path was intoxicating. She was quick to resort to violence even if she did have some limits like never really abusing servants, slaves or unarmed people. Still to any other merc, pirate or a thug, she'd never hesitate to get them hurt and even killed more than a few times. Such was the intoxication of freedom and power. She spend over 5 years with that mercenary band. They did more than a few things she wasn't overly proud, jading her perception of her own decisions to that point. Eeventually on one such job she encountered a jedi. A woman who simply indentified herself as Vala. Their meeting was on a small settlement on a frozen frontier world. Kosara was tasked to go ahead and scout the village since the band had hit rough times as of late. She didn't like it, but complied.
Kosara met Vala in the bar, the jedi coincidentaly traveling on some sort of personal quest she never explained. They got to talking and one thing led to another. By the end of the day, without Kosara really realizing how it happened, they had ended up saving a local from some wildlife, repairing the walls of an orphanage and Kosara eventually admitting to her task to the Jedi. While she had gotten rather intoxicated with the feelings of freedom as part of the mercs and outlaws she grew up ordered around by, she never really gained the same eagerness to perform nefarious deeds like them. Sure not everything she had done, she was proud of, but she never hurt or killed innocents or civilians. The jedi eventually fought and took down the rest of her merc crew, but allowed her to go free, giving her a second chance. This time, Kosara figured that if she's to have a true second chance at freedom, she should be doing something good with it! Like doing what she had dreamed every night as a child somebody else to do - save her and her mother. So she figured that maybe she should become the hero she always dreamed of meeting.
The following years up to the Clone Wars, she spend as a wandering merc for the lack of better term still, but this time she only got on jobs that would help people. Granted not everything turned out great, there were quite a few close calls or people she didn't manage to protect, but she gave it her best. This eventually led her to being dragged to the battlefield when the Confederacy attacked a world she was on. She was fighting a bunch of tincansm protecting a bunch of civilians when a familiar jedi swooped in. As far as reunions went, it certainly was bombastic and energetic. Vala and Kosara spend the next few months fighting together along with clone troopers against the droids. At first Kosara wondered the chances of them meeting again, but Vala assured the somewhat younger woman that it was the will of the force and that both of them were led there for a reason or another. Kosara admittedly had no counter argument because she herself initially just had the sudden feeling she wanted to have a vacation on that world.
After the world was cleared of droids, she followed the jedi from there on, becoming something akin to an unofficial right hand for Vala, during the rest of the Clone Wars. They went through thick and thin, fighting together, often against impressive odds and numbers, but they made it through side by side. Eventually Vala admitted that she had felt a call to the worlds they met and after traveling together for nearly two years now, she was certain that Kosara was sensitive to the Force to a degree. Admittedly she was never going to make it as a padwan at her age. It was a startling revelation, one that sadly was never adressed properly. Vala had promised Kosara to figure something out, maybe get her some basic training in secret as to allow her to control herself better. After all even if she was never trained as a jedi, the ability to Meditate and communicate with the force was a helpful ability to have. Still the fateful day came. Kosara and Vala were just celebrating their victory over part of the Confederacy forces when the clones turned against them. Kosara, true to her self, drew her blaster and fell the closest trooper before the could fire as soon as he had aimed his own weapon.
The confusion in the duo was complete, unable to figure out why their own troops were turning against them. Unfortunately there were just too many of them for Vala to defend from all the blaster fire and as the duo tried to flee, a series of heavy ordinance was fired their way, causing explosions. Even Jedi weren't immune to explosions sadly. as the dust settled, Kosara found herself pushed out of the way in the last moment with a force push and her friend... best friend.. no something much more than that, somebody she felt like the will of the Force had connected her with was gone. There weren't dramatic last moment confessions or speeches. There wasn't even a chance to say goodbye. One moment Vala was alive and living, the next, her body laid crushed and blasted underneath a pile of rubble. Kosara grabbed the ONLY thing as a memento she could, one of Vala's two lightsabers. It was damaged, seemingly beyond repair, but she didn't care. Shouts of clone troopers echoed not too far from her, so she ran. Ran as fast as her legs allowed her and straight to Vala's ship. One of the so dubbed Jedi starfighters. It was marvel of engineering, one that she couldn't really pilot properly for the obvious reason of not being a trained jedi, but she knew where Vala had left her hyperspace module in orbit... Getting to space with Vala's ship wasn't hard. With a fighter this fast, evading the clones wasn't hard... attaching the hyperspace module wasn't hard either. No the hardest part came after she was back in Hyperspace. Everything else had taken less than 10 minutes. What the hardest part was... to figure out what to do next. She stared at the marvelous scenery of hyperspace outside the cockpit, trying to figure out how this all happened and what she should do next, now that she felt an emptiness like this. She had discovered the one being in the galaxy that made her feel complete, a better person. Now that person was gone and she just felt empty.
