@AtomicNut I mean, it is. Or are you implying it possibly doesn't exist? 0.o
@Burning Kitty I think it's more important to understand the general basics than any specific plot - i.e. transformations, Power of Friendship©, and general overall themes of the genre. As for boys becoming girls, the idea is the plot (the regular story) has already happened 18ish years ago - and it was supposed to be a pretty normal, mundane, expected one for those who are genre savvy (although obviously fantastical for any normal people at the time). If they would have transformed from a boy to a girl, they would be used to it by now. I don't think it'd be as interesting of a plot device, but you can try and convince me.
@SilverPaw Hope classes don't get too bad, but stay on board while you can! Anyways, an alcholic is the sort of thing I'm looking for - especially if it's starting to get into the life ruining category.
@PaulHaynek Not yet, but maybe in the future.
@AtomicNut@Burning Kitty@Stern Algorithm@PaulHaynek@SilverPaw@Rune_Alchemist@Pyromania99@shagranozAlright, so some things to clarify for those with interest. These are up for discussion, but it's just to give you an idea of what I'm thinking.
-As they've already defeated a great evil in the past and had their failures and triumphs, we will refer to their original adventure as ... the original adventure. The original adventure occurred 20 years ago - so if your character was 13 for the original adventure, they would now be 33.
-The 'Anime' of the original adventure is closer to Tokyo Mew Mew or Sailor Moon than Madoka Magica in tone. So while your powers may have drawbacks, it should be something that would be brought up in one of those animes (although now the price may appear much higher than before). Also, the powers themselves should generally have the ability to be pretty, as according to those shows. So for example, someone who derives power from stabbing themselves repeatedly and using their blood to attack a foe would not be something I'm looking for.
-This will be taking place on an American West Coast City with a lot of immigrants so you can easily play a character who is(was?) an immigrant earlier in life. As a whole, the setting is going to accommodate the characters rather than the other way around, so I think it's more important to get the characters in first. It's one of the reasons the OP doesn't have too much detail.
-Your character has lived a life by the time they are in their 30s. A few good, and probably some bad things have happened to them. Here is some food for thought.
- 60% of American Women are married by 30. A survey from huffingtonpost (obviously not perfect) shows that only 28.9% are childfree.
- What Vices do they have? This is where the more serious part of the RP comes in - a lot of people have problems with drugs or drink or simply keeping their lives on track. Or maybe your character is relatively successful, but is now part of a Super Evangelical family that acts in a stereotypical manner.
- They are probably cringing at their former selves - I cringe at my 13 year old self, and I'm only 22.
- They have probably grown apart from a lot of their former teammates, and fought (emotionally) at least once with each of them. They might have some of the same flaws, but they are probably toned down a bit.
- Your character probably has started their career, if their life isn't so ruined that they can't get into one (or if they are stay-at-home or similiar)
So here's what I want from you guys:
-Ideas for the Team Name. We'll vote on it, so have some fun with this one! If anyone has some basic ideas for the original adventures, propose them!
-Before any formal character sheet, give me your 1 paragraph character pitch. (Their power and team role [tank, support, fighter, ect.], their childhood/personality during the original adventure, a couple major life events, and where they are now, major vices, ect.). I'd prefer not to do full CSs because this gives us time to adjust to eachother and make sure the team is balanced personality/power wise ect.
-After the character pitches are in (hopefully in the next 48 hours) we'll each describe how we think our characters will relate to each other- probably how they were before, one major conflict (even if they've 'gotten over it'), and where they are now. Very few relationships go on for 20 years without any sort of issue, and many of them simply grow apart.
Get going! I'll try and fill whatever roles seem unused.
