1. Yes, your characters should be aware of each other by now. This is related to 3, as you've all been Substitute Shinigami for anywhere between 1-2 months already. Maybe 3 months even.
2. You may have heard of Shikai in passing, and what it is, but the recruiters had never had any need for them to unleash theirs as demonstration. Though their first showing will happen in the first arc.
3. A few months give or take as said.
4. An artificial soul is provided by a Shinigami scientist that runs a candy shop in Sagamiyama. They can have very different personalities from your character for fun, or you can play them seriously if you like. Up to you. It's done by eating a candy which inserts the soul into your body. I will note, you do have a Shinigami seal also, but using that will not allow you to put in an artificial soul, someone else would have to do it for you.
As far as that Shinigami scientist is, I have yet to finalize them so you'll only meet them later.
@McNephelim - You have 2 more Zanjutsu technique slots, seeing as you have 2 levels in Zanjutsu, for a total of 3.
@Morgannis - You still have 1 Zanjutsu and 1 Hoho slot still.
@BladeSS4 - You still have 1 Zanjutsu slot, though I imagine since you're aiming for a sealed zanpakuto that is a pair once you get your Shikai, you can save it for when that time comes. That said you also have 2 Hoho slots.
@LadyAnnaLee - You still have 1 additional Hoho slot.
So, you can all fill these slots whenever you wish. For convenience, I suggest using the "list" code in your CS' to better organize it all.

I will note too, you can develop and learn new techniques and memorize new Kido freely, there's no actual cap on it, this is just for creation. But for creation, you don't need any IC reason to have it. So you can hold that creation slot all the way up to the end of the first arc.
If you wish to know what to expect from the first arc, just drop me a line. If you wanna be surprised, no worries, just go as-is. Though I will say it's not too early to think about your Shikai, and how you might awaken it, so also talk to me about that. A couple of you I already am aware of but the others if you don't come to me first, I will come to you later anyhow.
I'll work on something after the weekend. I will probably also add some rules to the RP too during that time. For now it's just intake and preparation.
Here are some basic techniques that the recruiters might've taught you, this is just a basic selection. Do not feel pressured to pick them.
[Zanjutsu]
Hirazuki - A basic technique taught in a dojo run by the Civil Corp in Rukongai. It is simple a thrusting strike, that transitions into a horizontal swing. As the horizontal swing comes out almost immediately after the thrust, it can be difficult to avoid, and of course should one have the strength, a successful thrust can transition into a brutal killing stroke.
Tsubame Gaeshi - A more skill-minded technique where the user strikes three times in quick succession to appear as two strikes. A missing or unread third strike intended to be the true attack. A terribly difficult technique to avoid.
[Hakuda]
Ranken - Or, "storm fist", a forward punch that is chambered then rotates as it is launched. Upon impact, twist the other way into an uppercut while moving forward. The result will be a powerful blow that is followed by a knockup.
Hienrenkyaku - "Flying Swallow Chain Kick", a series of high flying kicks that serve both to increase the user's height and barrage the target with a myriad of kicks. As it ends on a kick, the last kick can either be used to safely kick away, or dig deep for a hard blow from the increased height.
Gahou - "Fang Blast", a focused punch that upon impact, the user would release a burst of reiatsu, exploding and doing concussive damage. If correctly applied, is quite effective at pushing through barriers and breaking defenses.
[Hoho]
Gakatsu - "Graceful Slide", a simple slide maneuver, able to low profile a lot of things. It can get a lot of distance with a running start. What actually makes this though is the recovery at the end, where the user should be able to stand up instantly, otherwise it's just a normal, clumsy 'slide'.
Jiho - "Two-step", a rather simple but practical movement technique. The user essentially moves a short distance quickly, twice, in whatever direction they desire. It can be out of harm's way, and then back into the advantageous position, or used to get behind the opponent by going around them.
Youho - "Jump Step", as the name implies, it's a kind of flash step where the user jumps up into the air. Also quite practical, and can be used to escape harm quickly. It emphasises' Hoho's need for leg strength as without enough, one might not be able to bound over their opponent, let alone Hollow who are typically larger.

SYSTEM INFO
STATS
There is a stat system and how it works is simple, it’s a guideline. A higher number will not necessarily equate to a win, especially if the numbers are quite close. However they have other uses, and that is increasing the power of your use of Arts (Hakuda, Zanjutsu, Kido, Hoho), and during writing, can be leveraged to creatively use your strengths to make up for your weaknesses.
As an example, a character who has good Skill but low Strength can make use of a two handed technique using their second hand on their blade to leverage their zanpakuto to cut through thicker targets, is essentially using their Skill in place of a Strength check. Things like this are key.
Gaining stats is also easy and fairly constant as you play. To that end I urge you to keep track of your character’s activities to inform me what you’re doing. Stats are gained in denominations of 25, so the smallest amount that can be obtained at a time is 25. Do bear in mind however there's many ways to become stronger, and different types of play will be rewarded, not just stat dogs who want to become the strongest. I urge you think about what matters most to your character's development. This is after all a roleplay.
ARTS
It is of course expected that Shinigami Arts will also eventually include Quincy Arts and Arrancar Arts. This generally shows your mastery and knowledge of each art. Everything at 4 and above is considered Captain level. As you can imagine, reaching mastery levels in these are more difficult and more eventful. As a final note, uniquely every player is able to reach level 6 in only ONE art.
REIATSU & REIRYOKU
Reiryoku or spiritual power is the total amount of spiritual energy your character possesses. There are two ways to become incapacitated in this RP, one is being defeated and succumbing to wounds, and the other is running out of Reiryoku. Reiryoku can be expended to boost Strength for singular actions, and is used for particularly powerful techniques and Kido (not all techniques and Kido spells require reiryoku usage).
Reiatsu is your general aura, and spiritual pressure, the amount of pressure your reiryoku puts out. The more reiryoku you possess, the more of it spills out of you constantly as reiatsu. It can also be actively boosted by focusing entirely on its output (this does not spend reiryoku).
One big benefit of Reiatsu is that the value of your Reiatsu is how much you can spend on Reiryoku actions for free. For example, if your Reiatsu is 50, then you can use 50 Reiryoku for free granted the action does not exceed it. If it does exceed your Reiatsu, you will pay the cost minus your Reiatsu.
Scenario (Strength boost, free)
Reiryoku: 1000
Reiatsu: 200
Desired Action: Spend 200 Reiryoku to boost Strength
Result: Reiatsu is 200, this action is free
Scenario (Kido with higher cost)
Reiryoku: 2000
Reiatsu: 400
Desired Action: Cast Soukatsui for 600 Reiryoku
Result: Reiatsu is 400. 600-400=200. Only 200 Reiryoku spent.
TECHNIQUES
Throughout the RP there will be techniques that players can learn, these are conventional (or unconventional) sword, weapon, or hand to hand techniques or special moves. The original show didn’t have very many of these if at all, but this really includes special moves that don’t require special abilities from a Shikai or anything of that nature.
KIDO
The way Kido works in this is there won’t be a numbered system of 1-99, there can be more than that. Players will even be able to make their own at certain mastery levels. However, the category system still exists, Bakudo, Hado, and Kaido still exist as categories. Generally meaning barrier, destruction and recovery.
FEATS
A unique system, generally for highlighting unique aspects of a character, whether it’s something they’ve learned to do, or something innate to them. There’s not much else to explain other than they must be earned or revealed through play. If there’s some sort of development you want with your character I’ll inform you if it equates to a feat or not too.
Name: Age: Race: Gender:
Taking Breaks It is inevitable people will need to or want to take a break from this RP and that is ok. Just drop me a message and we will discuss what to do. In no way, shape, or form will I tell you that you cannot take a break. Bear that in mind. You will be allowed a break, however if the timing is too sudden it may affect the flow of play.
Hiatus Sometimes the RP may go on hiatus. This is usually a timed period and all will be informed. Of course while everyone returning once it is over would be ideal, it cannot be guaranteed.
Character Management
For Players Generally I limit players to just one main character. However, with each arc a player plays through, they may make another character up to a maximum of 3. The player must be aware that keeping track of their characters is their responsibility. This applies for the character's activities too for their activity report. For more information on that, check posting.
For NPCs Submitting new NPCs has no limit, and only NPCs that players desire to have a story effect or role will be checked by me for approval. Any other NPC that is intended to be flavor or accompaniment to the player's own story does not need any major approval or even the full sheet.
Special NPC Slots Occasionally I will open a special specific type of slot for an NPC, as I need an NPC to fill a certain role. If no one makes an NPC to fill it, I will of course have to do the work myself, but usually these are unusual NPCs, or more major NPCs. Usually spots like this will open when the RP has need for a cast of enemies for the players to fight.
On Conduct and RP Ethics
Feedback I am always open to feedback and requests. Do keep in mind that while I do have a vision for where I want the RP going, I am open to fitting in developments for the sake of your characters too. After all as the player, you are the one I am running this RP for. Naturally I will not accept anything that may undermine or hurt another player.
Behavior I do not accept snark or back talk. I am able to recognize condescending language too, so don't think about sneaking that in either. Be direct, be up front, because I will be too. I will always try my best to have my own suggestions too should I ever reject any idea as alternatives, and while you don't have to take those suggestions, do not be unreasonable.
On Posting
Posting When it comes to posting, please keep things clear. Include the location, and @ the relevant players. A lot of general etiquette. If possible, color your dialogue too. In terms of length, I expect the usual for Casual section, but anything too short I may have to talk to you. Anything too long, I will probably also talk to you, though only if you have been excessive for no reason.
Activity Log As you do things in the RP, please keep a note or log of what your character has done. Not everything ever has to be reported mind you, and not even in great detail either. The main reason for this is so I can give out stat ups when it seems you might have earned it.
Combat Combat in an RP is always a difficult subject, as it is difficult to figure out who won or who was successful, or even how to make a fight difficult where defeat was organic. The approach for this RP is to setup a list of advantages and disadvantages faced by you the player, and it essentially is a checklist of what needs to be done to sufficiently overcome a challenge.
Combat between Players will be discussed between both players. They decide how they want to do it. The only rule here is to not take too long and swiftly conclude. In such a case, a bout of 3 posts each back and forth is my recommendation.
At the door of death itself If given a second chance of life Would you take it?
In your final moments when the darkness of the abyss would take you Visited upon by black robes and an unfamiliar face, a katana at their hip They ask if you wish to live and so with your final breath, You answer
Soul Society is currently experiencing a shortage of Shinigami after a particularly bloody civil war known as the Soul War. Leaving it with an entirely different government from the old Gotei 13, now ruled by the 5 Commissions under the Soul Shogun.
You are a human in the world of the living from the small town of Sagamiyama, and after a fatal experience that would result in losing your life, your potential was recognised. In exchange for a second chance at life, you would be in service of Soul Society as a substitute Shinigami.
At the same time, there has been a rise in Hollow activity in Sagamiyama, requiring your service as a Shinigami to ensure these Hollows do not hunt down the residents of your home

@Letter Bee Looks ok. You could give the death a little more thought but everything else is fine. You have time to figure something out if you'd like.
@McNephelim Actually pretty solid. I don't have much to say. I'm under the impression he's a tank with a strong amount of reiryoku so checks out to me.
I'll need to keep track of everyone who needs has technique slots, but I'll do that later.
Description: A supremely beautiful Shinigami, shining white hair with red strands and under-colours tied by a hairpin into a flower patterned bun. She identifies herself as part of the Extermination Corp from Soul Society, and has been stationed in Sagamiyama to find potential substitute Shinigami. During the day in Sagamiyama, her cover is a flower shop clerk at a traditional style store. As such it's expected that she is skilled at flower arrangement. She wears a combination of red and black. As a Shinigami she wears a different black robe to that of her colleagues, seeming more fit for ceremony than combat, yet it does not seem to hinder her in the slightest.
Personality: Shouko is a serious type with a cold gaze that chills those she lays them upon, yet there is a deep-seated beauty within them. Where one's initial impression may be intimidation, before being lost in her cold eyes. She appears to show little emotion in most manners, maintaining a way of elegance, yet a small quip from her is all it takes to realize she may not be as high strung as she initially appears. She seems particularly fond of high energy music.
::COMBAT INFORMATION:: Combat Level: B General Information: Shouko's zanpakuto in it's sealed state is a bright red paper umbrella with a concealed blade, shorter and thinner than other zanpakuto. While sheathed the umbrella itself is quite sturdy and can be used to fight also. Generally Shouko makes use of Kido most of all, and has a few that are of her own creation. Her movements are graceful, seemingly avoiding danger with minimal effort, and the umbrella itself being sturdy gives her options for defense and even offense should it be closed up and swung.
Shikai: ???
Name: Ouga Tatsuha Age: 100+ Race: Shinigami Gender: Male
Description: It would be incredibly difficult to miss him. A rather large build for a Japanese man, no shirt, long coat, and a large pompadour so loud it he can be spotted from miles away. He identifies himself as part of the Shinigami Civil Corp, and so it is his job to handle all forms of training, of which he is qualified to do. Zanjutsu, Hakuda, Hoho, Kido, he is capable in all forms. During the day and as his cover in Sagamiyama, he's a bike mechanic. He has in fact been in Sagamiyama for many years doing this job as a recruiter, so anyone living in the town would most certainly know him. As a Shinigami he wears his top undone, showing off his chest. Lower half of his torso is also wrapped up in bandages.
Personality: Loud, cheerful, and full of guts. He can be serious at times too, but he'll always try to break that down with a few extra words and keep things as light as possible. Despite his rough and liberated appearance
::COMBAT INFORMATION:: Combat Level: B General Information: Ouga as a combatant is despite all of the knowledge he teaches, is fairly brute force. His zanpakuto in it's sealed state takes on the appearance of a wooden sword, which seems ineffectual at first, but as a result instead of cutting things, he beats them up with crushing force. His usage of the four arts also reflects this brute force style, where he will use high powered low range Kido spells, using Hoho only to stay on his targets, and then mixing Zanjutsu and Hakuda together to form a rough and unorthodox style of combat. In Soul Society he was known as the Lightning Ogre in the Civil Corp.
@BladeSS4 Ok this seems to check out now, except for the techniques which let me know once you've figured something out. Also I had forgotten since it was minor and not really a problem, but he should have a surname too, so just figure something out for that in your own time. If you need help with techniques though lemme know.
