HAPPY NEW YEAR!
One thing that I have noticed about the RPG Community over the years, is that we really,
really,
REALLY love our pets! We might disagree on a lot of other aspects of this hobby... But perhaps a love we universally share is that our pets are sacred, special, and awesome!
As January is not a particularly eventful month, and we're all most likely coming down from the Christmas and New Year high, I wanted to do something light, fun, and filled with nothing but absolute cuteness! (I really just want to see photos of cute pets, let's be
REAL)
So for the Month of January, I will be hosting
Roleplayer Guild's First Pet Pageant*! BUT STORM.... This is the
ROLEPLAYER Guild.
Is this event about roleplaying or writing? No. :( but you can absolutely keep an eye on the
Contest Section for the next one, or ping

The Pageant will be based upon community vote in the following categories;
Best DogBest CatBest BirdBest Fish Best HorseBest Farm AnimalBest ReptileBest Small AnimalBest Pet Rock(If I have overlooked a category, please let me know! Categories are also subject to change depending on entries)The winner of each category will then go through to the final round to be crowned
RPG's Best Pet!If you have a pet and you'd like to enter - the
Submission Round is open from now until
January 16th.First Round Voting will commence on
January 17th and will end on
January 25th, with the winners being announced, and moved into the Final Round -
Final Round Voting will begin on
January 26th and will end on
January 30th, with the Best Pet announced on
January 31st.

The winning pet of each category will be immortalised as an official emoji in the RPG Discord,
forever!The overall winner of the Pet Pageant will also receive a
full Digital Painting of their beloved pet, drawn by yours truly!**
Sounds pretty good, right?
Of course as this is a contest with prizes involved, we do need to have rules in order to create fairness for all participants.
1.
At all times follow the Fundamental Rules of the Guild and the Moderation Policy for Forum Contests.2.
You can enter as many pets as you'd like into the categories. So if you have two dogs, you can enter both but you must fill out the form for each.
3.
Only enter your actual pets. This one is going to be hard to measure, so I'm going to put out my trust to you guys, that you'll only enter your pets. So that means you can't enter Butters the Bean and pass him off as your own, or try to tell me that CoconutRiceBear is your pup. Sorry! If you don't have a pet, please stick around for voting anyway!
4.
Anyone can enter! Yes, admin and mods too! As this is a full community based vote, I highly encourage all of you to enter if you can! :)
5.
No late submissions. Unfortunately I cannot accept entries into the Pet Pageant after January 16th. That's just the way it goes, be sure to get in early!

You can vote for your own pets. But I encourage voting for others :)
7.
This is informal and fun! So don't take things personally. In that same vein, be respectful when talking about the pets - remember that they are someone's beloved companion and it's not very country roads of you to be mean-spirited and if you do that you'll be in a world of hurt
(mean comments will have your pet removed from the contest if you are an entrant, and if you are a voter your votes will not be counted).
To enter the Pageant, all you have to do is PM me your pet, with the Category Title as the PM Title please!
This contest is not just about the best picture that you can take, but also about how you are able to convey to us all a sense of their pawsonality (so I guess it almost
is about writing...)
One picture only, please! This is just easier for me to manage for the voting thread - so pick your favourite one!
Try to write as much as you can in order to get those votes for your pet! If you want, you can even fill out the form as your pet - be as creative as possible. Just make sure you answer the following questions;

Once again, I'd like to reiterate that this event is all about having some light-hearted, community fun! We all know that the best pet of all is the one we take home at the end of the day.

**As you may know, portraits and artwork take time to produce but I will endeavor to have your piece finished by the end of February.
