It seems the long summer, which gouged with fangs and gave us hope, has come to its end...

I'm okay either way. I mean, I love Dorugoramon, but an assigned one would work fine too, especially if it's something that twists the concept somehow.
- Height: 5 foot 5 inches - Weight: 120 pounds - Always wears a hoodie over athletic tops and (despite the image saying otherwise) long running pants, regardless of the heat or cold.
Personality: Is it so wrong to see the world as something less than perfect? Is it folly to wish to change things for the better? These are the questions that Kari asks herself almost daily. A hopeless romantic and pitiless optimist, she believes that there is no saving the stupid, but that she has to try anyway. Her parents have made comments about it not being blood that runs through her veins, but rather a strong sense of justice and a will to see it brought about. This is unfortunately tempered by her lack of social position to act on her beliefs, her poor social skills that come from being on the autism spectrum, and her general contempt for those who have power and don't use it for the uplifting of the weak.
Background:
(This is to make the paragraphs move over) Growing up in a middle-class household, Kari never wanted for anything. Well, except world peace. And a life without boredom. And the destruction of the dog-eat-dog system of the world. And-, well, you get the point. She learned the reality of the world when she was but 5, when her rare trading card was stolen. The teachers banned the game because of this, and the other children blamed her, going so far as to claim it wasn't stolen and that she just wanted to get the game banned! This made her depressed and anti-social for a while, but she returned to normal about a year later. Then the second tragedy struck. Her favorite video game was taken from her hands as she played it, and the older children who took it held it too high for her to reach. So she reached for their throat instead. She didn't choke them for too long, just long enough to make them lower their hands so she could grab her game back, but it didn't matter to the adults. She was the one who got in trouble, her parents making her throw away her precious game, the bullies who did it getting away untouched. Her disillusionment grew. By her teenage years, she was known as a troublemaker and a rather dangerous enemy to make. With no care for weak or illogical rules, she would go above and beyond to make those who harmed her, or the younger children, pay for their actions. Even the older students at her school became afraid of her, leading to a large drop in bullying throughout the grades as a whole. That is, until she went too far and knocked a bullying transfer student unconscious on the day Kari turned 14. She was expelled that day. On an "entirely unrelated" note, the rate of bullying in the school skyrocketed the following week. At age 15, Kari, who had grown strong physically from throwing herself into working out to relieve her anger at society, became obsessed with anime. Not especially surprising for a 15 year old, but the lessons she learned from Sailor Moon and the like were different than what the English dubs wanted kids to learn. She'd need to get stronger still if she wanted to defeat the villains of the world. She didn't have a team to rely on, or magical powers. She'd have to find another way. Exactly one month after she turned 16, her favorite video game of all time was released. She loved it more than anything, and it became her newest obsession. So much so that she would have reoccurring dreams about it. Moreso, when she learned to lucid dream on command (when she realized she was in a dream, that is) at age 17, she would constantly make her dreams be about it. Age 18, Kari had played her game well over 100 times, logging uncounted hours of playtime. She became a NEET for a few months before getting kicked out of her parent's home and ending up in a tiny apartment of her own that she can, to this day, barely pay rent for. Recently having turned 19, she's begun looking into colleges that she might be accepted into, but she has no idea of what she would study for.
Partner: Dorumon
Digivice G appearance: A pair of red-rimmed glasses with blueish lenses.
Other: Inspiration: (Happens to also be) her Theme Song
Personality: A very distant relative of Alphamon, Dorumon is an imperious digimon who believes himself better than Yggdrasil itself, let alone the fallen knight digimon. He refers to other digimon (and humans as well) as "Trash," an obvious insult towards most species. He's yet to lose a battle, and grew up around strong digimon making that fact a large part of why he acts as he does. He hates being praised for anything, as praise implies both that someone is worthy of judging him and that what he did that was being praised is above and beyond what he can do.
Thankies, and sorry for taking Dorumon. I could go with Loogamon if you'd prefer to take Doru. I'm a huge fan of both of them, and Looga has some dark evolutions too if I remember right.
My turn~ Sorry that the backstory is so long, I'm recycling one from an RP that never got off the ground. Lemme know if anything needs changing. (Also taking the "dragons and such" thing to the extreme by choosing THE dragon digimon of all time)

Oh, also. Does the digimon franchise exist in-world and if so how accurate is it? Like could our character be a digimon fan or would they know nothing about them?
@Psyker Landshark Machine/Cyborg Digimon are very limited, I'm afraid. This could be alleviated at later evolutionary stages, but for the time being, I want to go with a stronger fantasy aesthetic.
The blue demon watched, bemused, as Hikari caught her breath for a few moments. When she was finished and breathing normally again, she fell to the ground with her legs crossed and simultaneously raised her hand as if she were sitting in school waiting to be called on. However, she didn't wait for that to happen, as the moment she hit the ground she asked her question.
"Question! Why is your name 'Red' when you're blue?" There was genuine interest and slight confusion in her voice, but no trace of fear or malice. She didn't seem bothered by the blood on her shirt, nor the way that the two halves of the corpse that the other demon left behind were starting to fade away. To Hikari, this was like being a kid and meeting a new animal species for the first time, it was a moment of excitement! The demon just stared at her a moment before starting to laugh. When it stopped a few seconds later, it spoke up with amusement audible in its voice.
"It's not really any of your business why my name is what it is. But I like the enthusiasm! I'm sure we'll be great partners. But if we're going to be partners, I'd better know your name too."
"It's 'Hikari.'"
"Heh. Alright, I've memorized it. But don't going telling it to anyone else, telling a demon your name is dangerous."
"You're a demon?"
"Of course," Akane said, putting a hand on her hip and showing her teeth in a grin. "What did you think I am?"
"I dunno. I guess I figured you were a dragon, what with the 'Hei Long' and looking like one standing on two legs."
"Don't get it twisted, dragons in myths are based on demons of the same name. But that-" She stopped talking for a moment as something caught her eye. Akane walked over to the last bit of the goblin(?)'s body before it dissipated entirely. She picked up a small piece of paper that had fallen out of its belt. After reading it, she grinned again and went over to Hikari, handing her the flier. "Well, well. This oughta be fun, too!"
Hikari, who had been looking at her shirt when Akane had started walking, looked up from her now clean clothing to take the flier and read it. "The Messengers of Hope? What, was that thing a member?"
"It's possible, but it's more likely it was summoned by a human in that group. What do you know about them?"
"I've only really heard about them in passing. It's not that interesting of a name so I never payed any attention."
"Well start paying attention, because we're going to this meeting of theirs." Akane said after taking back the flier. "Get prepared to go on quite a trip, just in case things go the fun way. We don't want you running out of supplies. Bring a weapon, too. You might have to fight on your own."
"Wouldn't you just protect me?"
Akane laughed. "That's a good one. I'll try to keep you alive, but that's not the same as 'protecting,' so don't put too much faith in my desire to keep you breathing."
"Yeah, that's fair." Hikari replied as she stood up.
"Oh, and don't worry about not being able to see me. I'll be nearby." With that, Akane waved twice at the human and faded away.
Hikari blinked in surprise, then dutifully went back inside to begin preparing. Quite a trip, huh?
Sometime later, Hikari had packed a dufflebag with clothes and non-perishable food. She also had a courier's bag full of extra snacks, drinks, two charging cords for her phone, and a screwdriver and hammer alongside the fillet knife from her kitchen. Lastly, she had her pocket knife, phone, and a compass ready to put in her pockets. When she looked at the clock she found that she would still have plenty of time before she had to leave for Inokashira Park, so she ate a big dinner and took a quick shower before putting on her "trademark" outfit, filling it with the items she had set out and grabbing the two bags as she went outside.
She arrived at the park some time after Miyuki, though Hikari didn't notice the other girl. She hadn't heard Akane's voice since earlier, had she really followed her here?
