He knows that is a long way down the road, but someone has to start traveling down, and he wants to be the one that does. Possibly be apart of some of the task forces his father has thought about to weaken the cartels. Ever since being forced to resign from his post as police chief and take an early retirement. It did cause a strain on their relationship since it was Efraim's fault for causing it to happen. A strain that had since healed when his father realized it was also his fault for keeping it a secret that Efraim is a Hyperhuman. A choice that he does not regret. Efraim has a pet dog named Tia, and one way he practiced his powers was by making bones for his dog to chew on. So the household had plenty of bones for his dog. Efraim is fluent in both English and Spanish. - _________________________________________________________

▅ S T U D E N T S Y N O P S I S ▅ S T U D E N T S Y N O P S I S ▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅ Efraim's life was a somewhat different one for a Hyperhuman growing up. The son of a police chief and a university professor. Now his father's focus was mainly on dealing with crimes that were connected to the drug cartels. A plague on the nation that got worse when Hyperhumans decided to join the cartels. Either way, this did not stop his father, and he tried his best to keep crime down. Now when Efraim discovered he was a Hyperhuman and his family soon discovered soon after. His parents decided on making it a secret and made Efraim and his older brother not tell anyone. For fear of what could happen to him if people knew. For while Efraim was a Hyperhuman and considered dangerous, his father was a pragmatic man who, unlike others, who would view their child with fear or disdain or a threat to his career. He simply just saw his son, who could be dangerous if nothing was done so, while Efraim was forbidden from using his powers outside the house. His father did encourage him to develop his powers in order to control them better. For three years, it was like this. Efraim practiced his powers in secret while his family continued on as normal. It was not until an incident after school when Efraim stopped a group of bullies from beating up a kid and accidentally used his power. Efraim was quickly reported to the police and became a known Hyperhuman, and was forced to wear an inhibitor. Discovering that the police chief's son was a Hyperhuman did cause a major backlash for his father when it hit the news. Many thought his father was hiding a Hyperhuman from the police, and ultimately. His father had to resign and take early retirement. While Efraim's father said should not have used his powers and was understandable anger about losing his job, he did praise him for trying to protect someone. Efraim did not know what to say and could only feel thankful for his family being who they were. Efraim, now a known Hyperhuman, would chafe under his new life. During his last year in high school as he was mostly shunned by his teachers and classmates, but he did have a few friends, and his family supported him. Even then, seeing how people saw him in public now and the headaches caused by the inhibitor. He started to venture less and less outside and fell into a small depression. His family tried their best to get him out of it, and when Efraim was eighteen and still struggling. Did his father reach out to H.E.L.P. and arrange for Efraim for to go to P.R.C.U. A choice that Efraim agreed to and now awaits what the P.R.C.U. has to offer. ▅ A B I L I T I E S, L I M I T A T I O N S, & W E A K N E S S E S ▅ A B I L I T I E S, L I M I T A T I O N S, & W E A K N E S S E S ▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅ H Y P E R H U M A N A B I L I T Y || Osteokinesis __PRIMARY CLASSIFICATION || Esoteric __SECONDARY CLASSIFICATION || Somatic Efraim has the power of being able to manipulate bones. He is able to grow bones from his own skeleton and use them in a variety of ways. One way that he can is by making bone constructs, such as shaping bones to be shields, swords, and other things. Another way is by making bone armor which appears over his skin. Making his punches or kicks harder. One final way he can use his power is by forcing out bones from his hands and launching them to act as projectiles. Efraim can use his power both offensively and defensively. He is able to grow and shape bones in a quick manner to either keep up the pressure on an enemy or protect himself or someone from attacks. L I M I T A T I O N S || PERSONAL BONES, DETACHMENT, SET SHAPE Efraim can only manipulate his own bones from his skeleton. He was reluctant to try and manipulate other people's bones, but he had to see if he could, and he found he could not. So he has to rely on his own bones for attacks and defense. Also, once a bone detaches from his skeleton, he can no longer manipulate the bone. Even if he retouches it, it just becomes a static bone that he can not manipulate anymore. Also, once he shapes a bone into a shape, he can not reset it or change it further. W E A K N E S S E S || OVERUSE, SEMI COVERAGE, JUST BONE While Efraim can grow and shape bones from his skeleton. He has a limit on how many bones he can grow, and he knows when it is close to his limit when it starts hurting to grow bones. A small pain when he nears his limit, but the more bones he grows, the more it hurts until he can not anymore due to the pain. Making him more likely to hurt himself and his skeleton due to the strain on his skeleton. Also, while he can make bone armor, he is unable for it to cover his whole body. Currently, it only covers his hands, arms, legs, feet, chest, and back. While it can be strong, the bone he uses is just normal bone, so its durability and power are limited to the strength of natural bone. ________________________________________________________________________________________

"My dog Tia of course," Efraim responded jokingly. "Yeah, she does that from time to time. Most of the time, it is nothing, and she is just barking at nothing for some reason." He chuckled, and he took a deep breath. "Most of the time, but sometimes she sees something, and by the time I go where she is and try to stop her from barking. I just see the edge of it, and it is gone. Could it be something or maybe nothing? I am not sure." He crossed his arms, "I am a Hyperhuman and the son of a police chief that does not bow to the cartels or any criminals. So that does paint a target on my back if one of them wanted to send a message to my father." He shook his head and took a long sigh. "Still, so far, it has been nothing, and I am glad for it." Efraim tried to relax a bit, "I know how to defend myself even if people get freaked out about it, and my father is a good shot." He shrugged, "so I guess I will treat it as nothing unless she is really barking or something."

Depends, I was not born yesterday, but at the same time, someone might need my help. It is true that I agreed to stop being a vigilante after getting caught and am now a known Hyperhuman. So that means that this person is either desperate for help and asking a Hyperhuman, or it is some kind of trap." He thinks hard about this, and after a few minutes, he replied. "I think I would still try to help the person regardless, and I can always take off inhibitor if things get tense, but it depends on how bad things are. So yeah, it may be a trap, but I would feel better if I did try to help that person, and again I can take the gloves off if needed." Efraim chucked a bit. I mean, few people know how a bone-encased fist feels, and yeah. That is my answer."

"Armour up, I say," Efraim, half joking. "No, seriously, I am bone armoring it up, and I will be prepared if this intruder comes to my way. Sure, my clothes will have to take a hit, and the teachers may not like that a student is gearing up for a fight. But this place is supposed to be a safe place for Hyperhumans, and now that someone is here, that is not supposed to be here and may cause trouble." Efraim started to look serious and leaned forward in his chair. "I am not going people let get hurt if I can help it. Truly I may not see this intruder, but I will prepare and be ready to defend myself and others if needed." Now leaning back in his chair. "I just hope no one gets hurt or worse and the situation is dealt with fast whether or not I get involved."

Pacific Royal Collegiate & University is still going strong but unfortunately, we've had a player opt to bow out due to real-life obligations.

As the roleplay's concept was designed around a team of twelve, I'd like to fill that role again and am hereby reopening submissions until 1pm EST on April 28th, 2023. Anyone is welcome to submit a character sheet up until that point, after which I will make my selection. Should any additional spots open up between now and then, I will provide an update. Currently, however, there is only 1 spot available.

Players who previously applied but were not selected are welcome to restate their interest. If you wish to be considered using your previously submitted sheet, you need only state such, preferably with a link to the original sheet. If you wish to make any edits, please repost the finished sheet to the OOC.

For all new interested parties, please find the OP here, along with links to relevant information and resources. If you are interested, I ask that you also take the time to read the IC. Your character will be a late arrival, so you'll be jumping into the IC at the point it's at, not retconned in as though they were always there.

Cool! So that brings the total up to 5, including Theyra, who I’m assuming will be a Jedi knight. Good stuff, looking forward to this one!

Question: have the characters been at the academy for some time now, and are somewhat familiar with eachother, or are we starting from scratch? I wrote my character’s history to allow some leeway in either direction. Thanks!

Alright here’s a revised character sheet. In response to the issues you had I made the following changes: The Jedi were actively searching for Zelt after his public outing as a Force user, which they tracked him to Thustra, much like the bounty hunters did. I elaborated on the Force mystic who works for the Hutts in that his primary job is to catch cheaters using the Force to win at Hutt casinos, but he just happened to be in the arena to see Zelt play when he sensed the use of the Force. As for the drug addiction, it’s been scrapped. Instead Zelt now struggles with an eating disorder, something a little bit easier to mask. Let me know if anything else needs changing.

Appearance

Standing a 5’6’’, Zelt is a little bit smaller than the average Sephi or Nagai. While slender, his build is quite athletic as he was a pro athlete. This athletics also led to Zelt having many scars across his body from sport. Feature wise, Zelt is a mix of both parents’ species. His silky skin is somewhere between the pale white of a Nagai and the pink of a Sephi. Both species possess pointed ears, the length of Zelt’s being somewhere in between the two species. Zelt’s hair is the length and texture of a Nagai, but its stark white color comes from his Sephi lineage. What is unusual about Zelt is his eye color, a light violet, much different than what is usually seen in his two species.

Attire wise, Zelt plays into the androgyny of how his physical features are. He tends to wear bright colors and close fitting clothing. This allowed him to have an unique image when he was an athlete. Now as a Jedi, Zelt bucks against the dress code. He still tries to be creative, hiding bright colored clothing beneath his plain brown Jedi robe.

Personality

Zelt has always been very active, both physically and mentally. This overabundance of energy makes Zelt an outspoken and impulsive individual. Sometimes this means he’s fun to be around, while other times he is insensitive and doesn’t anticipate the results of his actions. As such many people find Zelt a mixed bag, a very unpredictable being.

What is consistent about Zelt is his competitive nature. Since a young age, Zelt has always tried to outdo his peers. Whether this meant being the strongest, fastest, or wisest, Zelt felt that he always needed to come up on top. This led directly into Zelt’s athletic career. He always pushed himself to improve, to become better than all the competition. As such he is quite a poor sport and has trouble accepting defeat. This is when the worst of Zelt’s personality can come out.

Zelt is also a lot more amoral than his Jedi peers, having grown up on a moon filled with criminals. Even now Zelt still skirts a few laws and has a history of dabbling mind altering drugs mind altering drugs. He also has several other bad habits including an eating disorder, one caused by being in the spotlight.

But underneath all that self focus and disregard, Zelt can truly feel for others. He was known to send some of his credits made by playing Sarlaac Ball to those impoverished in his old neighborhood. Zelt also will rarely turn down a request, being one of the first people those in need would turn to. To Zelt this can also feel like a game, wanting to see how many people he could help.

Lightsaber

Zelt wields a single-bladed lightsaber of standard hilt size. It is comprised of a silver, metal cylinder, with two prongs sticking out past the blade emitter. Zelt has customized the hilt by attaching a key chain to the hilt, one with a little figure of a small Rancor, a piece that used to be on his Sarlaac Ball bat. The crystal contained within the hilt emits a very faint blue blade, almost bordering on white in color.

Skills

Form VI - Niman: Not really sure what to specialize in, Zelt has begun training in Form VI, the balanced form. Teaching a wide range of skills, Zelt has become more comfortable with his lightsaber and has begun working in Force techniques.

Athlete: Zelt is in great shape and can move very fast and for great periods. He also has training in several sports, most notably Sarlaac Ball. The Force subtly aids Zelt when he is active, improving his speed and reflexes, as well as guiding him to stay out of danger.

Mechanics: Growing up with a mechanic for a mother, Zelt was of course going to learn some of the basics. Zelt has a pretty decent understanding of how starship engines work and can diagnose a few simple problems. Unfortunately he didn’t pay a lot of attention as a child and as such only has basic knowledge.

Equipment

Besides his lightsaber, Zelt keeps a wrist mounted comm link on his left wrist, as well as a small bag with some credits and rations. Attached to Zelt’s right hip is a holster with a Nagai knife in it. This is more for connecting with his heritage than actually using it to fight.

Weakness

Anger: Perhaps it is the Nagai blood in him, but Zelt has a short fuse. He can get riled up easily and gets into a lot of fights. While this anger can empower the Force, it is routed in fear so that its hard to control. Even with Jedi training, Zelt still has a fiery temper which has earned him a bad reputation at the Academy.

Eating Disorder: As more of a spotlight was put on the young Zelt, he felt that he had to maintain a certain image. Known for his small and lithe body, Zelt thought that he needed to maintain that physique by limiting what he ate. This quickly spiraled into periods of not eating and gorging himself before purging. Even at the Academy Zelt still struggles with this and he hopes that knights and master of the Academy never discover his secret.

Injured Leg: While he won’t admit it to anyone, Zelt sustained a bad injury to his right leg during a Sarlaac Ball game. It never healed properly and it has given him a slight limp. However he unknowingly masked it with the Force, willing the pain away and allowing him to remain active. But with every passing year, the damage to his leg seems to get worse as his mobility is incrementally reduced.

Background

Born on Nar Shaddaa, also known as the Smuggler’s Moon, Zelt would be the love child of two different groups of criminals. Zelt’s mother was a Sephi, a long lived race of artists. In her case she was a starship customizer, making alterations for some big name clients. But Zelt’s father was a Nagai, a mysterious race of warriors from beyond this galaxy. The two had met at a gladiator event on the moon, both guests of a Hutt. From there they would leave and go bar hopping, eventually spending the night together. The next day, Zelt’s father would leave Nar Shaddaa, off on some mission for his Hutt employer. Zelt’s mother would never see him again, left to raise Zelt alone.

As a child, Zelt would be raised in the back of his mother’s mechanical garage which was located in a slightly nicer part of the Smuggler’s Moon. Zelt’s mother would attempt to teach him about mechanics but Zelt had little interest. Instead he would explore his neighborhood, quickly learning what parts were best to avoid if you wanted to remain alive. In doing this, Zelt would meet the other children who lived nearby. Most were bastards or otherwise unwanted, yet Zelt felt a kinship with them.

The youths would play simple sports in the street, Zelt quickly becoming the best out of the locals. With the aggressiveness that came with having Nagai blood, Zelt was fierce on the field. His speed and fiery attitude caught the attention of a local Twi’lek “businessman”, who recruited Zelt as a package deliverer. As there were no child labor laws on Nar Shaddaa, Zelt accepted the job and began to ferry items all around his local part of the moon.

About a year into this job, Zelt’s family would be shaken up when his mother had an accident at work. Left disabled, her garage would eventually sold off. To help his ailing mother, Zelt looked for more employment opportunities. Recalling the sports of his youth, Zelt would sign up for a Sarlaac Ball league. The sport was fairly new, having been created during the reign of the Galactic Empire, and was notably very deadly. While allowed to play, no team wanted to recruit the small Zelt. However, one team would lose a player to a broken neck, and needing a quick replacement would take Zelt on.

During his first match, Zelt would excel at the brutal sport, dodging others easily and being proficient with the duel bat. It was almost as if he could sense what the other players were going to do before they did it. This intuition in the back of his mind helped Zelt to quickly ramp up in the rankings. After less than a year of playing, Zelt would jump teams into a bigger league, one that took him off the Smuggler’s Moon.

Now planet hopping as he played other pro teams, Zelt would begin to make serious money. While tempted to spend it frivolously, instead he used it to send his mother to a proper home for the disabled on the Sephi home world of Thustra. Now no longer needing to worry about his mother, Zelt threw himself fully into Sarlaac Ball. Hailed as a young prodigy, Zelt would begin to be offered sponsorships.

However, this increased attention would lead to Zelt’s downfall. While playing a championship match on Nal Hutta, Zelt would be watched by an old Force mystic, one who advised many Hutts, using his connection to the Force to detect gamblers manipulating the odds through the Force. The mystic just happened to be at Zelt’s game when he could quickly detect the player’s use of the Force. Seeing this as cheating, he informed his Hutt employer. Within a day of that game, the information of Zelt’s apparent cheating was posted all over the Holo Net, his fans quickly jumping ship.

In less than a week, all off the sponsorships went away and Zelt was kicked off his team. Things only got worse when the Hutt who owned said team had to refund all bets involving Zelt’s playing. Angry at the young man, the Hutt would put out a hit on Zelt, to make an example for all potential cheaters. After an initial attempt on Zelt’s life, he would flee Hutt space.

Zelt would bounce around from planet to planet, trying to plot his next move. His name had been blacklisted on the Holo Net, so no sports team would hire him. Feeling dejected, Zelt would go to Thustra to visit his mother. However he would be ambushed by bounty hunters who figured he would eventually show up there. The hunters would track Zelt through the capital city, Zelt using the Force to speed up his step. But this would lead to Zelt being cornered in a dead end alley.

Faced with the possibly of being killed, Zelt gave into his fear and unleashed a massive Force push, sending the bounty hunters skidding away hundreds of feet. Zelt attempted to escape in the confusion only to run into a Jedi Knight. The man was able to scare off the bounty hunters with his lightsaber. He then revealed that he too had been looking for Zelt after his public outing as a Force user, and figured he would come to Thustra eventually. The Jedi Knight then offered Zelt an option besides being on the run for the rest of his life, joining the Jedi Academy.

It only took a few minutes for Zelt to consider his options, but would ultimately decided to go with the Jedi Knight. As Zelt sat on the starship traveling through hyperspace to the far off planet of D’Qar, he tried to view this as a second chance, one which he wouldn’t screw up.

Five years have passed since the Battle of Jakku and the defeat of the Galactic Empire. The New Republic has begun the process of rebuilding the galaxy, and Luke Skywalker, hero of the Rebellion, has taken steps to restore the Jedi Order, creating a new Jedi Academy on the world of D’Qar. With him are the few Jedi Knights he has since trained in the ways of the Force, and together they and the next generation seek a new beginning of light where once there was only darkness.

Peace, however, is fragile, and the New Republic struggles to confirm its place amongst the galaxy, its power tenuous amidst a divided peoples. Hutt territory is expanding, the Imperial Remnant is steadfastly defiant, and the Dark Side lurks just out of sight.

The New Jedi Order is young, untested, but in the coming years the next generation of Jedi will take the mantle of protecting the galaxy as countless men and women have down for eons before. The Jedi Academy of D’Qar is merely the start, and should it succeed the Jedi will once again find their place in the Force. But first they must survive the trials ahead.

After discussion with my co-gms, I am opening the rp and putting out a deadline for next Friday, the 26th for character sheets. So if you wish to join, now, it is your chance with two spots left.

Overview

The year is 10 ABY. In this RP you will play as the first generation of Jedi recruits that are to be trained in the ways of the Force. You will start at the Jedi Academy on the planet D'Qar as apprentices. We will be using mainly Legends content but some of the New Canon. The Jedi Knights that will be your teachers will be the Co-GMs, and it will be two students to a Knight. However, if more students app than Knights, then I will allow others to become Knights to compensate. So right now, there is me and one other co-gm, so two knights at the moment. If you wish to be a knight/co-op, then notify me by Pms or just say something in the thread.

All apprentices should have the core Force abilities and, after some discussion with my Co-GM, instead of starting with a temporary green or blue lightsaber. You will start with a lightsaber of your choice, single, dual, or double bladed, and of whatever color you want. Since we will be going to Ilum first, and you will be getting your lightsaber once the making of it is done. It is encouraged you make an original character rather than use a pre-existing character like Kyle Katarn.

Born from the rebellion, the New Republic has restored democratic function to the galaxy after many years of civil war, however, with the power vacuum left in the Empire's wake the fledgling government has yet to cement its place as the rightful authority. Currently the New Republic is attempting to rebuild worlds affected by the war. Coruscant is the capital with Mon Mothma being elected as the first Head of State.

NEW JEDI ORDER
Under the leadership of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, the Jedi Order has reformed with a handful of Knights to sow the path. After scouting for a location for which to construct a new academy the planet D'Qar was chosen. The small, abandoned Rebel outpost was reworked and has grown to a proper Jedi Academy complete with support staff. The New Jedi Order is young still but its destiny is laid out before it.

IMPERIAL REMNANT
What remained of the Galactic Empire following the Battle of Jakku retreated to the Outer Rim Territories, and though fractured remains a threat to the stability of the galaxy still recovering from war. Currently attempting to secure what few systems that remain under Imperial control and, rumor has it, infighting has led to internal conflicts that threaten a complete disintegration of the Empire, if not the rise of radical ideologies. Bastion is the capital with Vicvin Rownlov, a human male, being the last known leader of the Imperial Remnant.

HUTT CARTEL
Following the collapse of the Galactic Empire, and thus the oppression of criminal syndicates, the Hutts have greatly expanded their territory and, despite erring on the side of caution, have yet to be contested by the New Republic. This failure has led the cartel to take bolder actions in recent months. The current leader of the cartel is Tittu Sken after the death of Jabba.

"So what do you think about that noise last night?" Kyle laid back in a chair looking intently at his wife as she prepared some tea for herself. He looked and sounded concerned. As he should, given the situation they were in and the mystery of last night. True that they still had food left for at least two weeks, but that is the point of food if things get worse. Like the zombies entering the street, and that is a thought he does not want to think about, but he has to at some point.

Tegan had now finished her tea and chose to sit down on the conch and took a sip of her tea before speaking. A car crash or something like that, I would think." She took another sip of her tea. A very bad car crash if it was that loud, and how are you feeling Kyle?" Tegan looking at him warmly.

At first, Kyle hesitated for a moment but quickly replied though sounding unsure. "Maybe, I think it is something else, something bad, but... I just hate this. Not knowing what is happening out there while we hunker down here in the street, in our homes, and our supplies will only last so long."

"I see Kyle, but we are fine now and are safe."

"But for how much longer and that loud sound from last night." Kyle paused for a moment and looked out the window, out to the street, before looking back at Tegan. "I guess I am tired of living like everything is normal and not really doing anything about our situation. I mean, there are fricking zombies out there in what is left of the town, and yet we are just doing things normally." Kyle let out a tired sigh and put his head down.

Tegan put her tea away on the coffee table and put her left hand gently on Kyle. Trying to show that he has her support and speaking in a caring tone. "I understand, Kyle, and I have to admit we could be doing more around here. But, what can we do right now and we have done some."

"Still, I am worried, Tegan, and I am... I am just to lay down in bed for a bit and figure out some things"

"Okay, Kyle, I will be here if you need me", and with that, Kyle left the family room and headed to the bedroom.

It is hard for Tegan to see Kyle like this as she watches Kyle leave the room. True, things are good now, but for how much longer? A thought she had not thought much of, just trying to survive while they still had power and more. Still, maybe they should start planning what to do once they run out of supplies. She sighed as he grabbed her tea and took a sip. Maybe even coordinate with their neighbors, but they are all strangers to them. Would they even listen to her or Kyle? That is a good question, and to her knowledge, no one is doing anything other than carrying on like things were normal-ish.

Either way, they are safe for now, and maybe they could start organizing the street into some kind of survivor haven. That would be the ideal, and Tegan decided once she was done with her tea. To see what they have around the house to defend themselves. It would not hurt to check, and it would be a start in the right direction. Yeah, that sounds like a plan, she thought and hoped this would help Kyle some. He is worried about the future, and she can not blame him. So here goes starting to prepare themselves for their new undead reality and not get caught out with nothing. Not if she has any say about it.
