Current Some of y'all are either too old to act the way you act, or too young to be taken seriously. Hard to tell some days.

When half the Earth's population disappeared... the world went into crisis. We thought we had been through it all as a city. After the invasion years ago... we thought we could get through anything. Clean up whatever mess came our way. But that's not what happened. Our friends and family turned to ash in front of our very eyes. Suddenly, the world was without a protector. The Avengers were scattered around the world and the universe trying to find the one responsible for this. What was left of SHIELD was left a shell of what it used to be, and all we could do was try to pick up the pieces.

Some people rose from the ashes and became stronger. People who wanted to help rebuild this city. Others just wanted to tear it down. And then some... well, some people people were just born for this kind of world. One where there weren't enough cops to keep the streets safe. One where riots and looting were a near daily occurrence.

This is the story of New York City after the snap.

Welcome to Marvels: New York City. This is an 18+ Marvel AU inspired by one of my first RPs on the site started by @TwilightShadow. This RP is set in an alternate version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning the day after "The Snap" in Avengers: Infinity War. With half the Earth's population wiped out in an instant, New York isn't anywhere close to as safe as it used to be. This is intended to be a street-level, sandbox RP following heroes and anti-heroes living in the aftermath of Infinity War. This RP is meant to actively support both independent writers and more cooperative writers alike, as both styles are encouraged in this RP. That being said, while there are some overarching plot threads behind the scenes, this RP is largely focused on the stories of individual characters.

These characters may be either OCs, obscure Marvel heroes who have not been introduced in the MCU, or a combination of both. There is also the opportunity to play as "legacy" characters, which would be either OCs or canon legacies of Marvel heroes who would have both disappeared during "The Snap" and have a reason to be in New York City. For example, a Miles Morales Spider-Man would be right at home in this RP. Feel free to make and modify canon characters as you see fit to tell the story you want to tell.

That being said, this is a Street-level superhero RP about people just starting their careers as vigilantes in NYC. Keep power sets limited and reasonable. No symbiote suits will be permitted in this RP. I've seen them used far too often in these sorts of RPs, and they have never been played well.
I'll be honest... I'm just not here for this anymore. The changing ideas and concepts and intense delays, mixed with personal shit in my life right now, just leaves me... Well, lost. I'm bowing out of this, but wish you all the best.

Ralto gave a sly grin at the bartender's request. Credits were credits, and the Zabrak would be happy to run some honest security. Would be the first time he tried stopping the dropping of bodies, though. With a quick and fluid motion, he knocked back his drink and stood up from his barstool, only to notice the Wookie similarly standing up and turning his attention to the scene developing. Ralto gave a curt smile as he sauntered alongside the walking carpet.

As the Wookie started growling, Ralto jumped in with his loose translating, a sly smile spread across his lips. "The bartender's friend here is wondering how difficult it would be to sell your shitty blaster without arms." This was punctuated, of course, by the Wookie's own gesture, at which Ralto's sadistic smile widened.

As the Wookie's grip tightened around the blaster in Oden's hand, Ralto gave a nod and cut in immediately after the Wookie's speech. "We're just making sure no one gets hurt here. Best we take that for now." Once the merchant relented and the Wookie turned back towards the bar, Ralto stayed a moment to look towards the other two instigating the conflict. "Best settle down. You really don't want to anger my partner here."

With that final threat, Ralto strutted over to the Wookie to give a nod. "Name's Ralto, and you did some good work back there. We make a hell of a team." Of course, the former debt collector eyed up the junk blaster and raised an eyebrow. It may be junk, but it certainly seemed functional enough. "I can hold on to that if you don't want it, mate. Keep it safe and out of the hands of those folks."

@King Cosmos@Kaggs@webboysurf@LunarStandard@PKMNB0Y@Amaranthine

Alright, so. Had a talk with @1Charak2 because I was losing my mind, and while none of my sanity has reovered, it gave me some insight about a part of this that I'm doing wrong/potentially doing wrong.

So bit of background. The issue as I see it, is that nobody has anything to do because nothing interesting is happening. The problem is partially because there's no real conflict or immediate problem to solve. Initially I fixed the issue of having nothing to do at the base by having Gritty show up, but it being a player-pressed conflict led to... well, player conflict. On the other end, the busted Duel Runner only really gave Webboy an idea of what to do. Neither LunarStandard nr Amaranthine felt like they had much to work with, so there's another failure of the scenario.

Now, I don't have any alternatives still. I proposed Charak to set up a mini-arc for him so he had something to do, but he didn't want it. The discussion eventually led to the following failure: The very premise of the setting.

See, as he says it, the fact we start out in a duel gang is very "Tell" and not very "Show". Our characters are assumed to trust one another because of their shared history, especially as a lot of people signed up as having been there from the start. Because of that, we already have vague and unestablished relations. We have to assume our characters know one-another without having actually RP'd to get to know them as such. What he pointed out as a counterexample of something much cooler to be done, was the Doomraisers.

See, as Charak poses the argument, had we actually started at a time before the Breakers were born, and instead played out the immediate threat of the Doomraisers first, we'd both have a "unified goal" while still having immediate pressure. It also makes it so our characters could meet one-another for the first time and do things. Had we actually rallied under this banner and left the gang's objective of "Break into the core" for much later, we'd have a more healthy and engaging opening scenario.

So that's to say, the problem with my opening post as I put it is both that I had nothing to give you guys to do (something I was aware of) but also had the chance to give you guys something you could've rallied under and then didn't.

My question to you all now: Given this argument, how would we proceed? I'll give you all a few options, but I'm sure there's something I haven't thought of. I just want to solve this issue of nobody really being engaged to post at all and I want to give everyone something to do.

1: We can just keep the scenario as-is.
2: We wipe the slate clean and actually start from before the breakers were formed
3: We stick to our current setting, but I merge the group and do a different scenario. I either start trouble with a gang, or with security. Or we have some trouble started already and are in the middle of getting out (would feel railroad-ey and lack tension in my opinion, but I'm willing to try anyway if those feelings are unsubstantiated)
4: I came up with this literally as I finished the last one, so it's not exactly a refined idea. Gist is that I wipe the current scenarios and instead have a "briefing" Takuma's giving where he intends to strike one of Security's checkpoints or another gang for reasons.

If I'm still off-base with any of this, then I dunno. What I'm trying to accomplish is for people to have both the reason and want to interact with one-another, so I encourage anyone to bring up any plot points if they feel like they want to do it.

That's admittedly not why I haven't written... it's again the simple fact that I've had no time to write, with the exception of a two paragraph post that I managed to sneak in for another RP that got suddenly resurrected. Even then, I kind of agree in that Kato had only a little to react to or do, and from my perspective it was only to set up an excuse for a duel to happen.

Changing things up would probably be best for everyone, just to at least give more of a group dynamic and goal. I don't think there's a problem with the gang having been formed already, but having everyone in a position where the entire gang can interact together for some goal would be best.

I prefer options 3 or 4. I don't mind a railroad start even, though not sure how others feel.
Gonna be straight with you guys

Not sure what you want me to be doing in this situation

Pandemic has had me surprisingly busy this week. But luckily, I've got some time this weekend to bang out posts for a few RPs.

It took Nik longer than usual to realize that someone was talking to him. He had been slowly strolling down the hallway, and only noticed Jasper Phoenix after she had to jog to catch up to him. He gave a half-hearted smile, the events of last night still hanging heavy on his mind. Especially at the sight of someone he had just met that night. Of course, her jest even made the side of his lips curl into a grin. "I think I'm a little of both, if I'm honest. Add sore to the mix after getting tossed around by a weird monster."

Nik shook his head slightly. "Jasper, right? Weren't you the one with the nice car?" He reached down into his pocket to pull out a pack of cinnamon gum, raising a curious eyebrow towards his counterpart while holding the open pack out towards Jas. "You think we can fake getting sick to get out of cleaning up the Danger Room?"
we're all online now :))

It's Easter, mate. I can't exactly write right now.
