The Infernal Arena

Dimensions: The diameter of the "ring" can be anywhere from 20 to 96 meters (66 to 315 feet), depending on what you need
Temperature: 38-42 degrees Celsius (100-108 degrees Fahrenheit)
Player Capacity: Can be decided by the GM/contestants, albeit it supports a fight between only a few players the best
Hazards:
- Mild concentration of volcanic gases (only dangerous for very long battles, GM or contestants can previously decide to ignore this)
- Uneven ground and sharp rocky surfaces which may cause accidents or injuries
- Arena is suspended about 300 meters above the flow of magma
- Tremors can occasionally shake the ring albeit it won't be anything serious
- Occasional but tiny eruptions which can spew some lava to the battlefield and generally raise temperature (advised to be ignored unless there's a GM to control the timing of this effect)

Description:
Ancient fighting ring of unknown origins, suspended within the throat of an active volcano called Inferno. The ring is a large piece of rock covered in cooled magma. The core of this ring is extremely durable and suggested to be made of Brimstone. The entire ring is suspended by giant chains made of indestructible Adamantium. Thanks to its solid construction this arena had survived for over 10,000 years and may remain for eternity.
As seen from the illustration the volcano has two stony ramps, connected to two distinct caverns through which the contestants could reach the ring.
Mt. Inferno itself is 900 meters tall and its composition makes it more durable than any normal rock. The altitude difference between the level of the ring and the top of the volcano is circa 300 meters.

@Dynamo FrokanePretty much this is a typical arena setting but with elements to make the battle more intense.
I left certain details adjustable so it can fit various types of matches.
If the players ask me I can even give them suggestions how to change the other details.

Looks good, I'll try one:

Name: Atlantisphere

Size: Half a Football Field

Properties: Made from an unknown material from the long-lost city of Atlantis, besides being almost indestructible it's covered in a force-field, making it impossible to break from the inside, although it's impenetrable the Atlantisphere is still somewhat translucid

Player Capacity: Most used in 1v1, but 2v2s are also possible

Flavour Text: Built long ago by the Atlanteans, the Atlantisphere was built for containing purposes, used firstly as a silo for highly dangerous materials, but later it was used by great warriors to prove their value to other heroes and Atlanteans, it was the stage of many epic battles in the past, it's said that past heroes who fought in this Dome have the right to watch the battles from the Afterlife

Name: The Coliseum

Size: One standard football field in size

Properties: Indestructible walls encircle the arena floor.

Player Capacity: 1 v 1 up to a medium sized free for all.

Description:

The arena is oblong, an oval shaped field of battle ruined by time and age. Fallen weapons, broken armour and bones litter the dusty floor, and innumerable cracks and dents line the cold stone walls. Above, the bleachers ring the arena, where faint sounds of cheering and applause are always heard. When a fighter or fighters enter the arena, however, a ghostly crowd roars to life all around. Perhaps the arena is reliving its days as a place of glory and bloodshed.

Flavour Text:
Some legends are told
Some turn to dust or to gold
But you will remember me
Remember me for Centuries

And just one mistake
Is all it will take
We'll go down in history
Remember me for
Centuries

Name: The Ballroom

Size: A rough circle with a diameter of 35 feet

Properties:

  • Indestructible walls and windows.
  • The band that plays music here are invincible and immortal, but are completely neutral. They will play any song of the fighter's fancy.
  • The dancers within, however, are not invincible. They will react similar to any normal person when fighting begins, panicking and running about like headless chickens once they realise they have no escape. They will only stop moving upon grievous injury or death. However, when a fight ends, all dead or injured dancers will automatically be healed of whatever injuries they have and return to their default state, which is dancing to whatever tune the band plays.

Player Capacity: Up to four people.

Description:
The ballroom is furnished with early Victorian decorations and furniture; an alcove in one of the room's sides houses the resident band.

Flavour Text:
And the man at the back said everyone attack
And it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said boy, I wanna warn ya
It'll turn into a ballroom blitz

@Juka Gearsworth I think this is just a place to post your arenas, even though I don't think Dynamo has to be around to vet them or anything.

Name: Heat Street

Size: Two standard city blocks long and one city block wide.

Properties:
- Populated by roughly six to seven hundred random civilians. All are completely mortal and bound to the arena as is. Each and every civilian can be killed, but upon the reset of the arena, all killed or injured civilians will automatically respawn, devoid of injury.
- Cars and other assorted vehicles are parked along the sidewalk, and several can be found with civilians within them, driving around the arena. Like the civilians, these vehicles can be appropriated by fighters, damaged or destroyed, and upon the arena resetting itself, all used vehicles will return to their original positions.
- An impenetrable forcefield surrounds the whole rectangular arena; this includes any surfaces eg. walls, windows, doors, or structures within this forcefield.

Player Capacity: From a 1 vs 1, to a small free-for-all.

Description:

Flavour Text:

Name: The Fortress of Drakonia

Size: Measuring by the widest point, the Castle has a:

Length of 750 feet or 250 yards

Width: 320 feet or 106.667 yards

Properties: The Courtyard and open areas of the castle are subject to fierce and powerful gale force storms with wind speeds up to 72 mph, roughly the strength of a tornado. Due to this, flying is very difficult but not impossible, though ranged combat that relies on physical objects will suffer accuracy at long ranges. Air magic or powers are also amplified when outside. (by a degree of one prep, but only if there is at least one prep involved, so non prepped attacks still count as not having preps.)

Those who do falloff the edge are considered disqualified from combat, as far enough below the castle proper (about 100 feet) subjects vanish completely. Note that pieces of the castle that have broken off will continue to float under their own power. The narrow halls of the castle themselves are filled with ancient booby traps, spiked pits, falling ceiling blocks of stone, or the classic hidden darts from the wall to even magical dragon statues that breath fire when one walks before them. Most rooms are 10 by 10, with hallways being 5 feet wide to round inter section chambers that can be as wide as 20 feet in diameter.

Also note that the dungeons have fallen away over the years, and one must traverse the underbelly of this castle by moving from floating rock to floating rock. The winds are no less forgiving here. Still, these lower depths once held the magical armory of the castle garrison, and fallen objects of no sentience tend to float up into the dungeons if they have fallen off.

Player Capacity: Up to 4v4 or Free-For-All

Description :

Flavour Text: Built by an ancient people long ago, no one remembers who they were or why they constructed this fortress. Let along why they gifted it the power of flight. The wise men and scholars of these lost civilization however were grand diviners, and their ancient text, so it is told, hold the secrets of the future across many universes. What other powers lie hidden within the fortresses libraries?

Shrine of Daimyos

Size & Capacity:
The bridge is 20 feet wide and about 90 feet long. The two towers are both two stories at 86 feet tall. Each floor being 25 by 25. Attics are smaller at 15 by 15. The cliffs it over looks at at least miles high, falling off is death going at free fall. All is adjustable if needed.

Best used in 2v2 or 3v3. 1v1 and 4v4 are both possible but 1v1 means that many of the environmental things might not work to full effect and 4v4 is severally stretching the map due to its size. Small free-for-alls can work though.

Properties:

Everything on the arena is destructible but will revert to its normal state after fighting is finished. Only the cliffs and rocks are indestructible.

The bridge, while strong, it can and will break due to multiple heavy attacks or explosives, causing anyone on it to fall to their death in the waterfall below. However, there are other methods of getting around. One can utilize the pile of old shinobi equipment underneath the and set up a zip line to zoom across the gap, although it can be easily cut. For those who prefer magic, there are two stone lion statues in the attics of the towers that will summon a flat magic bridge across when struck. Beware that if you are pressed against this path, there is a chance of it causing sever burns and if one of the lions are struck, the entire bridge disappears.

In the towers, there are many random objects laying around that range from weapons on racks and stands (like swords, matchlocks and spears) to scripture & books. Bits of samurai armor can be found on stands scatters around, giving players that extra bit of protection if needed.

There are also several other statues, hanging scrolls and paintings in both the towers which activates the interesting part of the arena. The shrine seems to be a gathering point for the souls of famous samurai, namely those from the Sengoku Jidai Era. Players will be able to activate them at will by pressing a hand against the object. The first tower (the closer one) includes:
  • Oda Nobunaga's Gun - Resting on a rack towards the back, activating it will cause a row of matchlock armed soldiers to fire straight down the bridge to the other side before disappearing. One can also use the gun as weapon as it is still loaded and able to do significant damage should the shot hit.
  • Date Masasume's No-Dachi - Hanging on the a supporting pillar, activating this will cause multiple swords to sprout from the pillar inside both buildings and spin like a storm a sharp. Again, can be picked up and used as a weapon.
  • Hanging Scroll of Odawara Castle - A painting of the Hojo Clan's main base, activating this will repair the entire arena instantly.
  • Bhuddist Beads - Found around a bust of Usagi Kenshin, activating it will cause magical barriers to appear in all enterance was in the tower, trapping people on their floors. GMs can decide if it is time-based or can be destroyed with attacks.

In the second tower (the further one), there is:
  • Takeda Calvary Statue - Located right outside of the tower entrance, activating it will cause two sets of two horsemen each to charge down the bridge with spears. They are killable however and the horses can be startled if a loud enough noise is produced, throwing off their riders.
  • Fireship Model - Located on a shelf against a wall, activating it will cause a Wako pirate fireship to travel down the river and into the bridge, destroying it and blowing back anyone on the bridge. Can be be destroyed before it reaches the bridge with heavy enough ordinance/attacks
  • Chōsokabe Motochika's Shamisen - Found leaning against a wall in the upper floor, activation will cause a stream of arrows to be fired on to the bridge from the third tower in the background. They can also be flaming or heavy armor-piercing arrows based on GM's descrition.
  • Tokugawa's Treasury - A chest full of golden coins, activating it will cause a great deal of increidbly shiny coins to appear and fall from the sky, blinding people. Alternatively, the coins can be picked up and thrown on to the ground to hinder enemies by causing them to slip.

Background:

A mysteroius shrine located in the mystic mountains, it seems to be connected to many Sengoku Jidai era ghosts. Little is known on who managed to build such a thing in a faraway place, but its beauty is only rival by it danger. Legends have it that inside contains a great secret known as the Sword of Amaterasu, capible of cutting the sun and moon, but alas, there is little evidence to support this claim. or at least what has been found.

Other:

This can be used in a PvE survival setting with players having to fend off waves of angry ashigaru, samurai and stone guardians with several famous warlords acting as bosses.

Name: Merelil's Mist.

Description: A small stream surrounded by massive trunks in the heart of a forest, Merelil's Mist is populated by a great many fireflies and due to the mist which is constantly emitted from the nearby cavern, it is always shrouded in a twilight no matter the time. Sunlight barely pierces through the fog, creating a mystifying atmosphere. The only other sources of light are the many, unnaturally bright fireflies which flit through the forest. The battlefield spans into the cavern network and out onto the stream and the surrounding 800 meters of land/tree and does include the canopy of the forest, where light is abundant.

Player Capacity: N/A.

Unique Traits: The mist naturally diffuses light to a degree making it easier for people to hide and lowering visibility. Additionally, this mist is laden heavily with mystical energy, often amplifying magic used. When breathed in, the mist empowers the physique of those within it. The mist constantly becomes thicker over time, but also rises into the higher regions of the forest, meaning that given time the visibility may rather randomly increase or decrease. Judge can flip a coin every two rounds (2 posts per combatant) to decide if the mist thickens or disperses upwards.
