Here's my character submission! ^^
I don't have time to do the background right now as I need to go to bed, but I will have it finished tomorrow. I hope everything else is acceptable. Also, if I may indulge my opinion-whoring a little bit, what do you guys think of Chloe? :)



Oh! On a somewhat related note: Sandra Prikker is essentially what I have in mind with Chloe's basic body type. I don't want to link as some of her pictures features her with relatively little clothes on, but look her up if you want a visual :)

Name: Nae van-Leewan

Sex: Male

Age: 19

Ethnic: South African/Japanese

Personality: Nae is somewhat flighty, emotional, and forgetful and sometimes winds up making trouble for people. He is a sensitive individual who marvels at simple things like fireflies and morning sunsets. And he is the type who cries relatively often. Though because of his extreme motherly, feminine, and comforting attitude, people tend to not stay mad at him. He doesn't really like getting a lot of attention, but it happens often when people are surprised by how beautiful he is for a boy. However, he can also be easily discouraged, so when dealing with him it's often necessary to assure him that not everything is his fault. His passion and talent lies in being a photographer, so he is the kind of person who prefers to take the pictures, not be in them. He is usually a very kind person, but also timid and sometimes uncertain. He tends to blurt a lot of things out without realizing it or thinking about his words. Nae also gets embarrassed and flustered way too easily; often blushing and hiding his face. He is somewhat of a klutz, managing to trip over his own feet more often than not. However, he can be very stubborn if he feels like it.

Background/History:
Growing up, Nae was a very shy and scary type of person. He would often cling to his parents whenever they were out in public. And people used to stare at him because he was so pretty, which usually made him cry. He eventually grew out of this, but that wallflower spirit lingered, and in turn, developed into a love for photography. When his mother died from an illness, that was the first picture he ever took.

After the death of his mom, his aunt and grandmother came to live with them. For a long time, his aunt was laundering money from Nae's dad. Eventually, this was discovered, his aunt was sent to prison, and Nae's father lost a lot of money. Almost all of it. With his father and grandmother, they moved to a small quaint cabin in the woods. Isolated from the world, though he missed being around people, truly made him really appreciate the beauty of the world around him.

No more distractions. No more teasing because of his unnatural femininity. This was a new place, a fresh start for him to truly enjoy the world as it was intended. No pollution, beautiful streams, the sounds of the trees, the birds, and the bees. He soon came to realize this was the best place for him to hopefully capture the greatest photograph in the world.

Goal/Desires: To take the greatest photograph ever to have been captured.

Powers:

• Messenger: Using his mind, this power lets him communicate with others telepathically by sending psychic messages to them. This allows him to communicate with people over vast distances. Additionally, he can use this ability against his foes, causing immense pain by bombarding their minds with his thoughts.
• Hermes' Journey: This power is a special ability that allows Nae to levitate and fly. While flying, he can carry one additional person with him. (Unavailable)

Equipment/Inventory: He has the clothes he was wearing(Long-sleeve white sweater, brown shorts, and shoes). Also, when he was brought into Aurora, he had his camera and 2 berry granola bars.

Dear lord there's a lot of sign ups... Okay, GM hat time.

Alright, I did mention I was going to be only accepting a few more sign ups at the very most- however, that'll just be until the RP gets off the ground and moving along. I'm going to be pretty selective here. I've decided to base my decision on characters that have powers that are quite different, unique personalities, or some other quirks that I believe would make them interesting.

@Kimono

Nae is accepted because I like their power, Messenger, and I truly believe it can be a powerful one if developed properly, while at the same time being something that is invaluable. Traps are also interesting to play as well, and I can see them getting into quite some awkward or troublesome situations in Aurora.

@Rin

Fiona Swanhilde is accepted since I'm interested in how someone who is weak physically, and is still somewhat bound to a wheelchair, will interact with Aurora. It'll be a fun experience for us both, I believe. Perhaps I'm just a sucker for injured characters, but it's just something I'd personally like to see; plus their ability can be useful in a variety of ways throughout the RP as well.

Chloe, being a curious person and someone who is capable of taking on animal forms, is accepted. I was honestly surprised no one applied an application like this before, since I always considered them fun and enjoyable. Plus, being able to shift in and out of multiple forms will have its perks, being able to commune with the natives of Aurora, along with being an adaptable fighter- although it may be a shock to her as well the first couple of times she tries it out.

You three are free to post as soon as the OP is up, and this'll be the cut off of those who will be starting right away.

Now, I did mention that I would still be accepting sign ups, for players who would be able to hop in. After a few posts go out (two or three GM posts on my end), and everyone has established a subtle footing, I'll give a post for the following players who, upon doing what I have requested of them, to begin posting. These three will be in a group of their own starting off.

Erich is accepted, and I'll have him come in a little later so that he will be able to have made his gun already along with another invention so that he will be capable of defending himself in the upcoming events. Come up with an invention that is reasonable and let me know.

I like Shill and her Flicker ability, although I feel like she'll be a bit lackluster if she's meant to be a combatant without some kind of added ability. I would like you to come up with a secondary/passive ability that perhaps would give her a little more... 'kick', per se? Considering if she'll be actively avoiding situations where her main ability would be used, I would like her to have a backup ability.

While Jynmi's power is fairly interesting, it just seems a bit strange to me with how they're named in their respective elements... along with not really sitting all that well with me. While I do like the character itself, the powers need to be either tweaked some, explained more thoroughly so I can fully understand it, or limited to just one element.

From what I understand, he can shift between creating vacuums, canceling all movement of people/things, and reversing atomic charges which... can be disastrous if used unwisely.

So, I would like it to be explained more or just changed to something more subtle, or just have it focused on a particular element for now.

Aarne seems like a decent guy, however I feel like his power is a mix-match of the current characters, some being fighters, craftsmen, and mages. While I'm sure he can be useful in multiple ways, and I can also see him being useful, I kind of fear that he would be severely lacking as a character in whole. What I'm saying is, I feel like he wouldn't be able to 'shine' properly with his current powers compared to everyone else, who either have similar abilities or can fill the role better. While I understand that this is a problem of people applying earlier with similar ideas, I can only say I apologize. :/

I would like you to make a new ability for him, something more unique solely to him so that he will be able to stand on his own along with being able to provide to the group something no one else can. This may change up his backstory, what he brings with him to Aurora, or something else entirely- hence why I'm holding off on accepting this character.

Unfortunately, I cannot accept Netta's Magnetic power.

Magnetism is always something fairly tricky to deal with, and it can always cause various problems... especially in a RP where there are tons of Magnetic foes, such as the Scions, and Dwarven and Gnomish tech. While I do like the ability, it is more of a me being hesitant to let it run wild.

I have an idea of what you're going for, but I think you'll have to explain to me what you really want for me to help out, but nonetheless I think the power would need to be seriously tinkered with, or outright changed for it to be acceptable in my eyes.

This is more of my own problem, more than anything else, and I apologize for that.

These are my final decisions based upon some serious thinking, and none of these choices were easy to make. Sign-Ups for the initial Opening Post are hereby closed.

However, I will be still accepting sign ups and dropping players in during appropriate times, since this will be the only RP I will be working on. Sign ups will remain open unless things get outrageous... I may also start looking for Co-GMs to help if I start getting overwhelmed.

Other than that, lots of interesting characters! I foresee lots of fun in the future.

Name: Dominic Harris

Sex: Male

Age: 21

Appearance:

He is about six foot four inches tall

Ethnic: American Caucasian

Personality: Dominics personality is a bit of a mixing pot of stuff. Take three parts headstrong with a dash of stubborn, mix it in with a large tablespoon of self motivated and spread evenly over a sheet of short temper. Bake the ingredients in an oven of fighter's spirit until it gets tired of waiting around and busts out on its own. The finished product will be Dominic, a young man who only whats to do what he can while he has the ability to do it.

Background/History: There isn't much said by Dominic about his past, as he doesn't necessarily find a reason to bring it up. If anyone was lucky enough to earn his trust however, they would learn just how humble his beginnings were;

Dominic was born into a poor household where his parents had to work double sometimes even triple shifts just to try and make the mortgage. Dominic did everything he could to help, but his parents told him that they would rather see him make it through school than work a job. His below second class home didn't make his social life any easier, people seeing him as no fun since he couldn't ever really go out anywhere. This meant he would spend a majority of his time after school wandering around his small town, trying to find something to do to keep his young mind occupied. One day as he was walking, a group of about four or five boys from his school followed him, yelling jeers at him and berating him for being a "no class citizen". He tried running from them, and they gave chase, cornering him in the local junkyard where they proceeded to mug him, calling him no good trash and that this dump was his real home. They left him bleeding and crying, curled up as it began to rain, cursing himself for not being strong enough to fight them. Whether it was fate or sheer dumb luck, a gem within the garbage caught his eye, an old training bag that was in surprisingly good condition. That afternoon he carried that bag all the way to his home, where his dad helped him find a place to hang it up. From the day he landed his first hit on that bag, Dominic swore to himself he would no longer let himself be seen as weak, that just because he came from humble beginnings, he could come out on top of any challenge thrown at him. Upon his arrival to Aurora, he set out to make his new beginning, his best.

Goal/Desires: To truly feel he has shown the world that it doesn't matter where you came from to be the best.

Powers: Power over the element Earth: The only thing as stubborn and hard to move as Dominic would have to be a boulder. He can utilize the earth to aid in his physical abilities, helping him greatly in a fight. His affinity with the element only improves every time he trains. His power lies in his will and emotions, the stronger he feels, the stronger he becomes. But with power comes the know how to control it. As of now, he does not know the full extent of his power, or if earth is even the only element he can control. The most he can do at the moment is raising stones to attack or defend, and form stone gauntlets over his arms to aid in fights.

Enhanced strength and durability: His will aids in more than just his elemental abilities, as he also possesses near superhuman strength, capable of lifting up to the weight of a small car (roughly a ton give or take). On top of that, he physical body is better suited to the physical punishment of fighting, though he must be careful as he can still suffer broken bones and many other injuries, he isnt indestructible.

Equipment/Inventory: A hunting knife given to him by his dad, the clothes on his back, and his favorite pair of training gloves.

1. Not really; at the very most you will just have a strong 'sense' so to speak of your power, kind of like a mental image and a feeling of what to do. Basically, you have a feeling that something is different with your body, and that you can do something else, but you're not quite sure what. I'll leave it up to you guys how you all go from there.

2. Teamed people will pretty much be summoned near one another in the opening post, and that's how the groups will form for now. Let me know who is pairing up with who, however, before I randomly pair people off.
