Tam Cobalt - Monday Morning - Beacon Courtyard

Tams eyes met hers as she leaned in to look at the flaming sword. She has pretty eyes, what? what!? that's just a bit mushy mushy don- She tripped, Tams first reaction was to grab for her but luckily, seeing as he had a white hot flaming sword in his hand, he managed to restrain himself, unluckily her face found itself a new acquaintance in the ground. Tam looked from his sword, to her, back to his sword and to her again. Finally, he sheathed the sword but she was already back on her feet!
She apologized for falling, which he thought was a little strange, afterall she's free to fall wherever she wants, but he was raised in the wilds so perhaps his formal know how was a bit out of whack, eh?

Yuna pulled out her Scroll to check the time

"I wonder how much longer till we are going to start?"

Tam looked up into the sky and examined the suns position. After a moment he lowered his gaze and his face scrunched up in concentration, finally his face cleared and he looked to Yuna.
"I have no idea."
He winked, a mischievous grin playing across his face. He turned to the cheese fox.
"Do you know when the ceremony starts?"

Selena Sabella - Monday Morning - Beacon Courtyard

@Hylianhero@Invariance Of C

Selena nodded at the woman's question, but seemed to be suddenly pushed to the side as the two started talking about their weaponry. Selena stashed the cheese, and turned to leave, not wanting to get in the way of the two. She, had no idea what her sword did, aside from drinking blood and being sharp. She would need to test it later, and figure out the quirks of it. And, her Semblance as well. It seemed defensive in nature, but what it did, the first time she used it...well, that would also need training.

However, as Selena turned to go, the man asked her what time the ceremony started. Unsure, and intent to follow the waining crowd to were she needed to go before it became the absent crowd, she simply shrugged, and then walked off, slightly faster than natural walking, but not quite a run, or even a jog.

Nova Hail-Monday Morning-Beacon Academy Courtyard

Nova couldn't wait to get off this airship and back onto solid ground though it had nothing to do with being sick and everything to do with being uncomfortable. At first, she had been so excited about being on an airship since she hadn't really been on many but it had soon lost its luster with the hum of the engines and the loud frantic chattering of multiple conversations all going on at once. She tended to avoid people since they usually wanted to know about your past or your family and she only had a portion of one of those conversation starters. She also wasn't one to enjoy a crowed with everyone bumbling into each other or getting your foot impolitely stepped on with no notice to what had been done. At the same time, she had to be a little jealous of the chattering people proving that they could either make friends easily or that they already were close friends to begin with and were lucky enough to get in together.

A sigh of relief left her lips as they finally landed, the ramp opening slower than molasses which actually caused a cat faunus to jump out early. Nova wished she could do that but unfortunately she was positioned near the back so it would take awhile to depart off the airship. Once she finally made her way off the ship as fast as humanly possible, Nova relished in the fresh air and just let everyone walk by her as she took in the view of the courtyard with its fountain and vast amount of trees. She couldn't believe she was finally here, standing in Beacon Academy's Courtyard waiting for the Opening Ceremony. Nova moved her hand into her pocket, about to pull out her pocket watch to check the time when she was suddenly startled by a loud voice calling out,"Hey you, girl with the long black hair!"Nova turned in the direction of the voice, slightly confused just like some of the few stragglers that were still walking on by and waited patiently as the child like girl made her way over to where she was at. "Ok, maybe that was a bit loud. I just wanted someone to talk to and you looked open." the girl said in a more normal tone but Nova was honestly surprised that of well really anyone else here that the girl had pinpointed her to talk too. It wasn't that she minded but she wasn't sure about how this would turn out. The girl spoke once more, kind of giving her a way out of talking but instead of rejection the other she answered,"I don't mind, I am not really doing anything at the moment other than waiting."

TILIAN PEARSON - A RIVER IN THE CITY OF VALE - 2 DAYS AGO

It was a warm summer night in the city of Vale. It was already late at night and most of the citizens had already gone to sleep. Tilian was standing at the river side looking at the small fireflies that where flying above the water. If he focused on those fireflies he could almost ignore the screams of Chris, who was dangling above the river, only being held up by Black Sun who had engulfed his feet with goo, which Tilian had then turned into the density of steel. He looked at Chris who seemed to be terrified. Tilian smiled at the man's suffering.
"I will ask you one more time Chris. Where is the money?!" The man squirmed as he desperately tried to somehow free himself.

" I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING MAN! I ALREADY TOLD YOU I GAVE THE MONEY TO WINSTON HE.." Tilian cut in before he could continue.

" I already checked Winston, Chris. He said he knew jack shit, and I know Winston good enough that he wont screw me over. Now you, Chris, are a different story."

The goo slowly started to go down.

"I will give you ten seconds. After that your going to go for a loooong swim."

He could see the panic in Chris's eyes as he was slowly lowered towards the river. Chris just kept screaming and screaming, the water had reached his hair and before his head was in, he screamed.

" ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT! ILL SHOW YOU WHERE I HID IT !!"

And with that, Tilian lifted Black Sun up and dropped Chris on the street. Chris then stood up and said in a low voice.

"Follow me"

Tilian did and so they walked through small walkways until they reached a dumpster. Chris then started looking for the cash and after a few moments of searching, he pulled out a package which was covered in all kinds of filth. He threw it at Tilian and then made a run for it. Tilian shrugged and let him go. If this money was fake he would find him anyway. And it seemed that Chris had not lied as within the package was 500 lien waiting for him. Tilian smiled and put the money in his pocket, shrinking the ball to a marble which he put in his other pocket. He then started to walk towards his apartment which was a few blocks away.

After a few minuets of walking, he reached his apartment which was at the 50th floor of his apartment complex. A few minuets later he was in his actual apartment, which was made of three rooms. The first was the main living room and the kitchen combined, the second room being his bedroom which was an absolute mess. His bed was made out of three mattresses stacked on each other. A bunch of pillows lay everywhere and a few blankets as well. The last room was the bath room which had a shower. He threw the cash in the corner, climbed onto his bed and relaxed. He relaxed for at least 5 minuets as his scroll started to beep. He grabbed and was surprised to a message from Fern.

I'm going to call you in a few minutes. You better answer, else I'll find you and hang you from your pinky toes. <3

Tilian rolled his eyes at the bitchy comment. He then sighed and looked at the hundreds of messages. However none of them mentioned the hanging part so something must have going on, so he typed a response.Well hello to you to. Sure you can call. Just make it quick, I'm busy. He wasn't busy but he just wanted to go to sleep!

Please, we both know you're sitting alone and just dying to talk to me. Fern replied quickly.

Riiiiiight you go think that Fern. he typed with a smile on his face.

Sapphire Pearl - Sister Sandra's Super Simulations

Leaping over the sword that swung her way, Sapphire swiftly swung Gemtra straight to the white-masked and deer eared man that had attempted the attack. Briefly, Gemtra entered it's second form, in order to hold back two stabbing motions from another pair of enemies. Instead of switching back to form one, the teen dove forward, keeping Gemtra high and spinning, knocking the twin attackers out for the count. It was when three more appeared out of the darkness that surrounded Sapphire that she started to falter. She couldn't hold back three attacks at the same time, all from different sides. She blocked the first that came to her, delivering a flying kick as the second attacker struck her side, flying into the third one that did a similar attack, sending her crashing into the ground. This had happened many times during this fight, and now, she started to black out...

Only to wake up a moment later. The cuffs on her hands came undone, and she leaned up, stretching. The woman next to her on a monitor making sure she was okay nodded appreciatively. "You did well. You took out fifteen of them," Sandra, the owner of the business that Sapphire regularly attended, says.

"Well, thank you! I try to train my best," Sapphire smiles at Sandra, and handed her the pay for the simulation, which was discounted from normal since Sapphire was a regular attendee. "I'll see you sometime soon, Sandra!", the Faunus girl said, before walking out, feeling the familiar sensation of her scroll vibrating in her pocket. Once outside, she sat on a nearby bench, putting one leg on the other as she read yet another of the hundred texts that she had been sent from Fern. She always read and replied to every one with a smile on her face. Fern was her best friend, and she'd keep on reading every message that came her way.

I'm going to call you in 173 seconds! If you do not answer, I'll shave your tail and wear the fur as a scarf! :3

You wouldn't do that. You're my besto! Though, I do expect that if Tilian had a tail, you would do that to him. <3

Touche. Standby soldier. Fern replied to her friend, smiling as she closed the message window and scrolled through her contacts. She tapped the picture of Tilian, that she'd acquired through... stalkerish means, and it opened the menu for the call feature. She raised the scroll to her ear and waited for her teammate to answer.

Tilian answered the call and raised the scroll to his ear. "Supp Fern, why do you want to hang me?"

"Why, you ask?" Fern rolled her eyes. "As if you didn't already know. I've sent you two hundred and thirteen messages and you've only replied to like.. five of them. Do you have any idea how frustrated I was? Are you purposely ignoring me? I demand to be treated better than this." she ranted into the phone.

Tilian laughed to the response. It's kind of hard to respond when you're fighting Grimm. I mean I could answer it to show off how much of a badass I am. But let's not tempt fate shall we?"

"Come on, you could have spared a second or two. I really needed help picking out a new top. Because of you, I couldn't decide on one. Now you owe me a trip to the shop." she complained to him. She leaned the scroll away from her ear again and went to tap on Sapphire's picture, adding her to the call and then waiting for her to answer.

"Hey there!" Sapphire says, as soon as she put her scroll to her ear. She hadn't noticed that Tilian was in the call. "You caught me just in time. I was in the middle of a simulator battle and just got out. I may not have caught you if I didn't exit. Sandra might've told me, but... Eh." She laughs.

"Sapphire! Glad to have you on the line. I was just telling Tilian here that he owes me a new top, but I suppose that's a topic for another day. I have something important to tell the both of you." Fern said, turning and starting to walk in the direction of her home. She leaned her scroll against her shoulder, keeping it there as she adjusted her pants.

"I figured it would be easier to just tell you both at the same time. Hopefully that's not a problem." she teased, a smirk forming on her face.

"W-Wait, Tilian is here?! Oh no, not you again! Fern, why?!"

To that Tilian just started laughing. He was enjoying this so much. Okay, Fern just for this I'll buy a top for you! So how are you doing Sapphire? Doing good I hope? He then started laughing again.

Sapphire's picture disappeared from the call window.

"Dammit, Tilian." Fern mumbled, hearing the sound of a message from Sapphire.

Why is he there! Fern, please, why!? D: </3

I seriously have something important to tell you both. And... we really need to work on you two getting back on speaking terms. This is not good for the team morale.

Did you not listen to what he said? How am I supposed to bear that? *Cries*

[i]He literally just asked you how you were... in his rude way, yes. But still.

Yes. Rude way. A tear went down my cheek. How dare you. After a second, a second text was sent. Fine. A moment later, her picture popped back up in the call, but she was quiet.

"Alright, where are you? I'll bring you some tuna as a reward and... apology for Tilian's rude behavior..." Fern said into the scroll as it showed Sapphire popped back up.

Only a whimper came as a reply.

Tilian stopped laughing trying to sound serious. Which he was failing.

"Tilian, I will seriously pay you to shut up." Fern grumbled angrily into the phone. She was nearing the local marketplace, looking for some tuna or any kind of fish she could get for her friend. It was hard considering it was night time and many of the fisherman had closed their shops for the day.

"Just ignore him Sapphire. He's an ass. But we can beat him up later about it. Like I said, I have some important news."

"Okay, I'll try," came the reply from Sapphire. Her voice sounded broken and sad.

"Okay ill stop now. Oh and Sapphire you can punch me in the face later. Heh heh heh, I owe you that much. He stopped laughing and became somewhat serious.

"Fine,", she whispers, in the same broken voice as before.

"Thank you." she mumbled, though it was unclear whom she was thanking. As she picked out some small fish for her friend from the last shop that was open, her face turned up in disgust at the smell of it. Her nose being sensitive to scents didn't help the matter, but... of the things she'd do for her best friend, this wouldn't be the worst.

"Alright, now time for business."

" What kind of business?"

"Don't tell me that he wants to test is in a simulator or something. I'm done with sims for a while." Her voice sounded a little less saddened. She figured that soon she'd be spending time with her best friend. At least, she hoped so.

As Fern started out of the marketplace and on the way to Sandra's Simulations, she held the bag of fish a bit away from her, hoping Sapphire would at least still be there. "Well, last night, I got a call from Ozpin and he told me to meet him at his office at Beacon. When I got there, he and Professor Goodwitch both seemed... a little off. I can't explain it. But then, they told me that they had an assignment for me. For us! I was pretty excited, but I think it's something really serious." she paused as she looked around, making sure no one was listening in on her conversation. When she spoke next, her voice was low like she was almost whispering.

"I think something big is going to happen, but I'm not sure what it is. You know those two are really... vague. " she said.

"I hope it has something to do with kicking some Grimm ass? Cause I'm game if that's the case" He said getting excited at the chance to do something fun.

"It might be. They said to be prepared... and I had to pick a team to go with us, so I asked Paris if team PYCH would go with us. He seemed cool about it. Everyone is going to be meeting at the docks on Monday morning. Oh and I already told Rust about it. It's seriously a shame when I can get in contact with him before you guys. He literally sleeps all day and still answers my calls." she complained to them.

"Hey, wait a sec, I always answer your calls!" Sapphire was exaggerating a little. She did answer a lot of calls, though. "But... I'm excited."

Yeah that's Rust for ya. He is even lazier then me. And that's saying something!

"Even though he is more lazy, he is less annoying," Sapphire mutters to herself.

"Touche, Sapphire, touche. But do you think we can set our hate aside for just this call?"

There was no response.

"Sigh, grow a pair already."

"I'm female," a whisper replied.

"Anyway!" Fern interrupted as she saw she was getting closer to the simulation place where Sapphire was supposed to be. "Ozpin told me we're going to Patch, but we won't be the only one's, just the first to go. When I asked him why he picked our team, he totally said we were reliable. Can you believe it?" she said, her voice not masking her excitement.

"We absolutely cannot screw this up. Our reputation will be ruined if we do. So that means you two need to be on your best behavior. No fighting. Else I'll trap you to together in a dark place for a week." she threatened, as usual.

"Yeah, Tilian. You cannot screw this up." Sapphire mutters. Yeah, don't screw this like you screwed me and you, she thinks, a few tears dripping down her face as well as a whimper that came from her lips. She stands up from her seat and paces back and forth in front of Sandra's Simulations, trying to divert the anger from her semblance into sadness rather than anger. Just after a bit more than a loud whimper escaped her, she pressed her finger against the mute button on her scroll, which made a pair of different toned beeps in the call to show she had muted her end.

Fern sighed and rolled her eyes. "Sapphire, I'm behind you." she said into the scroll as she paused a few feet away from her friend. She extended a bag of fish towards her. "Take this and stop crying." she demanded.

Sapphire spun around once she heard Fern's voice, both from the scroll and from behind her. "T-Thank you," She sniffs, taking the bag of fish and sitting back down, starting to dig into it. "I-I'm sorry." She whispers, quivering.

Tilian quickly texted Fern. Why the hell is she still such a drama queen? I thought she was over it by now?.

Fern heard the sound of a message pop up and she looked at her scroll, frowning at the message and quickly responding. You know how she is. And, despite being an asshole, you have some... charming qualities and I can understand if she really liked you. It's gonna take time you boob. If you won't be nice, I'll skin you alive.

" Why skinning part? Just why? Am I threatening you like this? No I'm not, and seriously I didn't even know she was into me! And you think I'm charming? Thanks I suppose..

Fern glared at the message and shook her head, bringing the scroll back up towards her ear. "We'll finish this conversation later, Tilian. Just remember to meet at the docks Monday morning." she said.

"Why does he have to come with us?" The Faunus asked rhetorically, having already decreased the fish to nothing.

"Unfortunately he's the T. Else we'd just be.... Fross."

"I can hear you dammit! .Offense taken!"

"I don't care!"

Fern rolled her eyes and ended the call on her end, sighing.

Don't you hang up on!.." All Tilian could hear was beep beep beep. He sighed again. "Dammit Fern." He then closed his eye's and went to sleep his weapon making a shield around him as he did.

"Thank god."

Fern smiled and reached out to pet one of Sapphire's small kitty ears. "Come on. Let's go home." she told her friend.

Vale City Docks - Monday Morning

It was an unofficial thing that Sapphire was going to be staying with Fern during the times she was unable to live in the dorms at the Academy. Considering this, the two friends had been living together during the time of their break from school and having the most fun spending time together. On the day they were meant to meet up with their teammates and the members of team PYCH, the two girls left Fern's place together.

As they walked through the city towards the docks, Fern made busy work of tying her hair back into two ponytails to keep it out of her face. It was difficult considering it was windier than usual outside and her hair was absurdly long. Her pale green eyes flickered over to Sapphire as she nudged the Faunus with her elbow.

"Hey, you ready for this?" she asked. Though she didn't mention any names, Fern was sure that Sapphire would get what she was asking. Hopefully her and Tilian would get along nice enough so that the assignment didn't turn to shit. She could always separate them... but how long could she do that for? It was only a matter of time before the two would seriously have to work out whatever they needed to.

For the sake of the team.

"I mean... I'm a bit nervous actually. I don't want to mess anything up. Especially with Ozpin relying on us and all." she added. "I'm kind of hoping our job won't be too hard. If we just have to kill some Grimm, that'll be a good thing. But I'm not counting on it."

"I don't know. All I know is he ruined a lot that day, and now..." Sapphire shook her head. "Now I hate him for it." As they walked, Sapphire pulled her hood tighter down onto her head. She considered just letting it fall entirely, but at the very least it kept her occupied for the walk to the docks. "Have you ever had a relationship, Fern? Ever had someone you truly liked and wanted?" She glanced at her friend's eyes.

"No, I've never been in a relationship... but there is someone I like." Fern replied to her friend. "Though honestly... I don't think I'd ever tell him. I get the feeling I'm not what he's looking for." she added, finally finishing in tying her hair into ponytails.

"And besides... I don't have the time to think about that stuff right now. Though... I'm always trying to change myself, so one day I can tell him how I feel and he'll look at me in a different way. Rather than... a nuisance."

Fern smiled to hide her embarrassment. "After this assignment, I'll tell you who it is. Though right now I want to focus and not think about that." She didn't add that he'd being going on the assignment with them.

Sapphire's eyes quickly met the ground. "Ah. Well, okay then," she says, her face turning a hint pink as she kept on walking. "Well, I hope... You and him get together." She says, letting out a breath as she sped her pace up a little. "I... Can't wait to find out who it is."

Finally, the pair arrived at the docks. Sapphire watches as Fern runs up to Rust and suddenly jumps onto his back. "Rust! Hi!" Fern says, waving to Paris at the same time. Sapphire, meanwhile, hops onto a nearby box, sitting up there and waving to everyone from the higher point, trying to smile. After watching the wave Fern was giving Paris, Sapphire returns to waving to everyone, her eyes only lowered by a fraction.

Meanwhile, at Tilian's appartment

Beep beep beep. "Ugh mom, just five more minutes. Wait a sec, I don't have a mom! He then woke up staring at his alarm clock which had been beeping for a long time. ".... Shit." He then rolled off his bed and summoned a few parts of his ball of goo which he morphed into hands. He then imagined them grabbing his clothes. A few minutes of hastily putting his clothes on, doing his hair then quickly grabbing something to eat later, he left his apartment running down the stairs, cursing the whole time. He then ran out of the apartment complex, running even faster. He decided to take the quickest route and so he ran through small streets jumping over dumpsters and shoving people out of the way. A few minutes later he approached the dock barely out of breath. Spotting everyone else, he waved at them. "Hey guys," he pants. "Sorry I'm late!"

"Are you... cold?"

Cyra bit her lip behind her scarf. Of course he would ask about this, it had to be over twenty degrees out. There were people wearing shorts and skirts. Her mind scrambled for a believable excuse, and having failed she decided to just run with what he had said. "A-a little. It was usually warmer in Mistral." Which wasn't a total lie, in some parts it could get very warm and humid in the summer.

Plucking nervously at the cuffs of her sleeves, she grabbed the handle of her suitcase and turns to leave. "I-I should go. The welcome ceremony will be soon."

Nik Animus- Monday Morning/Noon-ish- Beacon Courtyard @JustAriel

Nik had just settled down and was about to nap when something, or should I say someone, caught his eyes. His focus was instantly upon her, long white hair in two long ponytails, and a face that was beautiful and completely blank. "What the hell, her face it's blank, no emotion. Holy hell she is the first person I've seen like that who isn't old." Nik stood up and watched her move and sit in a bench, Nik was studying her trying to figure her out from a distance. That was until curiosity took the better of him, moving through the crowd, Nik finds her and sits on the bench next to her. Not saying a word he just sits there studying the crowd, then without turning to face her he blurts out,"Nice weather today, don't you think?" Nik continues to study the crowd watching, continuing to talk,"I mean if you like sunny weather. I prefer cloudy weather but sunny weather ain't to bad." Nik was trying to make small talk, which he wasn't that good at.

Razor WhiteFang - Beacon Courtyard/Water Fountain - Monday Morning/noon

Razor sighed as he sat down on the edge of the fountain. I might have over done it with the whole: find out how sharp my claws are. He thought as he looked up at the sky. It was starting to get later in the day and there was still no word when the welcoming ceremony would start. He looked back at the people walking around the courtyard.

“Not many Faunus attending this school,” Razor said to himself. He saw a few here and there but he was used to being around more Faunus then this. He rubbed his eyes and said, “I hope the head master of this school isn’t one of those Faunus haters I’ve heard about.” He looked down at his right hand and a smile formed on his face. It’s been over a month since I’ve seen the sickly green aura. However, doesn’t that mean it could activate at any time? Razor thought. He turned his attention to the rest of the students around the courtyard.

“I would kill to have that type of life,” Razor said as he watched a group of friends walk by laughing. He was envious of those who were able to have people around them without worry. A sickly green aura flashed around Razors body for a few seconds. In that time, everyone in his eyes turned into Grimm. Razor’s heart skipped a beat before everyone changed back to normal. Not here, please god not here. Razor thought as he stood up. He quickly looked around the courtyard till he found a path leading away from the mass of people. He quietly and carefully walked towards the path to get away from the courtyard and the people in it.

Orlan Price - Beacon Academy Courtyard - Late Monday Morning
@Thundercrash

Orlan accepted her explanation without further comment. He himself was a little warm, coming from the northern reaches of the world, but refused to remove his jacket. When she mentions the welcome ceremony, Orlan pulls his scroll from one of his coat pockets to check the time. Before he could return it to his pocket, the girl was already turning to leave. Orlan stood silent for a moment, looking around at everyone else before taking a few long strides to catch up to the retreating figure.

"I hope you don't mind, but we all seem to be going in the same direction anyway," Orlan mentions as he draws level with her and begins to match her pace. "And beyond that... you're pretty much the first person I've spoken to since leaving Atlas." Though not particularly excited to make friends, Orlan would be put into a team eventually, and thus felt the to socialize at least a little.

Asvoria Laurent - Beacon Academy Courtyard - Monday Morning

"Cool." Asvoria said with a small smile. "Oh! My names Asvoria. Asvoria Laurent. Pleased to meet you." She added, starting to extend her hand for a handshake before pulling back slightly. "Oh right! There was that one opening ceremony right? Let's go together!" She mentioned pointing her thumb in the direction of school behind her. "Maybe we should head there early and see if we can go get the good seats or something of the sort! Wait. . . They'd have seats right?" She questioned the air more than anything before looking to Nova.

Asvoria was sizing the girl up. She didn't look too heavy. Even if she were, the power over gravity could help out with making it an easier thing to do. She stretched her arms a little and cracked the bones in her neck. "Since I've came to Vale I've been taking in the sights more than anything. I've barely tried to carry much more than my hammer. . . Hey, uhhh, Black Hair. Want a free ride to the Opening Ceremony?" Really, she just wanted to attract peoples' attention. A four foot something looking girl carrying some pretty looking girl? What a better way?! "Alright, let's go." She said without confirmation or denial. She picked up the Black Haired girl and took off towards where the Opening Ceremony would take place. Hopefully, they could get a good place in the room.

Beacon Courtyard - late Monday morning

@FateWeaver

Cyra swallowed at his words. He still wanted to talk to her? Wonderful. She supposed that she had to face the fact sooner or later that she was going to have teammates that she would be rooming with. And what a giant awkward situation that's going to be. "N-no, it's okay, if you want to. I don't know anyone here either."

Most of the trip across the courtyard was made in silence. A wide variety of scents filtered through her scarf from the patches of flowers along the paved walkway, tingling inside her nose. Combined with the soft sound of the fountain that sat in the center of the courtyard, and she might have found it almost peaceful. The columns that surrounded the campus were a far cry from the dingy neighborhood she had left behind. It would be so easy to stay here and forget about all the problems in the world. The Grimm, the attacks, everything. Here, everything was quiet.

Cyra gave the man beside her a furtive glance. The only real problem for her was all the people. This one didn't seem too inclined to speak, and from what little she knew of Atlas, that was probably the norm. No, no, stop it! Assumptions are what got you in trouble in the first place. Say something, he might end up being your teammate. She bit her tongue, then screwed her eyes shut. "Cyra!" she blurted.

The man's pace slowed slightly as he glanced at her, and she mentally smacked herself. "M-my name, it's Cyra. Zylvan. Cyra Zylvan."

@All First Year Students!
Headmaster Ozpin and Glynda Goodwitch - Beacon Academy - Mid Day

"I believe most of the students have arrived. When do you plan to give your speech?"

A silence followed the words of Glynda and she turned to look at her old friend.

"Professor Ozpin?"

Dressed in his usual green suit, Ozpin raised his always filled mug of coffee to his lips before responding to his friend. "It appears as though we are still missing a few. I wonder if this amphitheatre is that hard to find." he mumbled curiously before taking another sip. "Let us wait for the remaining few.

The two teachers stood in the shadows of the curtains on the stage in the large room, watching as first year students started to pour in, their faces an array of emotions ranging from nervousness to pure excitement. It almost brought a smile to Ozpin's face, though he knew it was too soon for blind optimism. Once those with potential passed his initiation, then he could smile with pride at them. Until then, he remained as stoic as ever. As his gaze traveled over the hundred or so students, he wondered just how many would make it past their second day, or the third. He wondered how many would realize that this wasn't truly their calling and drop out. He wondered... many things. Far too many to dwell on.

Without saying a word, he stepped over to the lone microphone that stood in the center of the stage. He waited a few moments, gathering the attention of the room with his presence alone before he cleared his throat.

"I'll... keep this brief." he started, waiting another moment as the last few students would gather at the back of the room. His eyes glanced over at Glynda who gave him a slight nod, and then he began to speak.

"The illusion of knowledge... it is what brought all of you here today. You are here in search of knowledge. To hone your craft and one day... protect the people. However, I look among you and all I see is wasted energy and a need for purpose. You knowledge will free you of this. Knowledge is only an illusion of strength, where as ignorance is a temporary affliction, remedied only by asking the right questions that will lead you to a greater answer.

"Your time at this academy will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you, to take the first step. But even then... in order to continue on, you will always need a helping hand."

With one more look across the students, he turned and walked off the stage, his place taken by Glynda who began to speak shortly after.

"You are free the remainder of the day to familiarize yourself with the layout of the school. Tonight, you will gather in the ballroom and rest and your initiation begins tomorrow. Be ready. You are all dismissed."

After a nod towards the students, she too left the stage and easily caught up with Ozpin who was waiting for her.

"I'll speak with the other instructors and see that everything is ready for the initiation tomorrow. I believe there are still some preparations to be done."

"Very well. I'll be in my office, should you need anything." Ozpin said as he started to walk away.

Glynda turned away but paused and called out to her friend. "Oh. What did you use for relics this year?" she asked him.

Ozpin continued to walk away, though he responded to her question. "The one thing man cannot live without."

Orlan Price - Beacon Academy Courtyard - Late Monday Morning
@Thundercrash

"Cyra!"

The outburst caused Orlan to miss a step, and he glanced at his companion in confusion for a moment before she clarified. In the end he smiles, stopping to turn more fully toward her.

"A pleasure to meet you, Cyra Zylvan. My name is Orlan Price," he offers by way of introduction with a slight inclination of his head and shoulders. "We probably ought to head on to the amphitheatre, the ceremony is bound to start anny minute!" he declares before moving on, not really looking to see if she is still with him. Once inside, he finds a place near the rear of the crowd somewhat away from the others, for both his comfort and in his opinion, probably Cyra's.

Orlan Price - Beacon Academy Amphitheatre - Monday Midday, Post-Ceremony

To Orlan, Ozpin's words seemed somewhat grim, though apt. He had always looked forward to becoming a hunter being a great challenge, something he would have to prove he was worthy of. After Goodwitch's dismissal, he turned once more to Cyra.

"It seems nothing particularly interesting is going on for the rest of the day, at least officially. I don't really have anything to do in mind. Unless you do, we at least could wander around and learn the layout of the place. Of course, if you'd rather I leave you be, that's perfectly understandable," Orlan said in a low voice, intending to only speak to Cyra. I slight smile touched his face as he noticed he was being somewhat talkative after the long silence since leaving home.

Morgan Rouge - Beacon Academy Courtyard - Monday Morning
Morgan awoke with a start, sensing the shift of airship’s motion as it slowed to a stop. He absently readjusted the bright red bandana he’d been using as a make-shift blindfold snugly over his mess of blonde hair and leapt to his feet. Swinging his father’s naval jacket over his shoulder, Morgan got his first good look at Beacon Academy from the ship’s viewing gallery and whistled appreciably. The school’s expanse of long avenues and towering spires were larger than some of the coastal towns Morgan had visited whenever the Fluffy Cloud took to shore.

Even after living a year mostly ashore for his final year of schooling at Signal Morgan still wasn’t used to the sheer luxury of space most landlubbers took for granted. In any event, he’d better get a move on if he intended to make orientation at his new home. Striding purposely through the rapidly emptying airship, he secured the familiar sextant of weapons strapped all over his body, making sure the four filigreed pistols were safely in their holsters, and the pair of cutlass’ on his belt were comfortably adjusted. Compared to some of the other student’s more centralized armaments Morgan looked like a walking arsenal, which was fine by him, he thought with a smirk. It’s best to show off what you’ve got.

Speaking of which. It was a hot.

Morgan quickly unbuttoned his shirt as he stepped off the airship, leaving it to hang off of his powerful shoulders to let in the air, and of course, showing off his sculpted physique to any passerby’s. He realized stepping off that he was among the last of the students departing the airship and most of the students were already making their way towards the central courtyard. Hoisting a pair of large metal chests with steely exteriors like something straight out of an old pirate movie, he set off with a confidant stride towards the central courtyard.

Morgan Rouge - Beacon Academy Courtyard - Monday Midday, Post-Ceremony

Morgan’s dallying had him making it in time to hear the tail end of Professor Ozpin’s speech, at least he assumed it was Professor Ozpin if memory from a few newspicts served. He filtered into the edge of the crowd along with a few other laggards as a prim looking blonde woman finished the orientation with a few final instructions

“I do hope I didn’t miss anything too important,” Morgan said to his fellow peers near the back of the crowd as he joined it. “I’d hate to miss anything exciting on the first day.”

Razor WhiteFang - Beacon Courtyard- Monday Mid-day

Razor found a small garden away from the courtyard where he could collect his thoughts and calm himself down. That was too close. I can’t get myself too comfortable around people. Razor thought as he took a deep breath and let all the scents of the flowers around him fill his senses. It took him a few seconds before he was able to return to the courtyard. When he did a few of the students were running to the auditorium.

“We’re going to be late, all first year have to report to the auditorium,” one of the said as they raced towards their destination. Guess that’s where I need to head too. Razor thought before he followed the students towards the auditorium.

Beacon auditorium- Monday Mid-day

When he arrived, he found a massive room filled with students and in the front was a large stage. Razor took a seat near the back just in case. His hands where shacking as he sat down and waited for the head master to speak to them.

“Just stay calm, it will be ok. You shouldn’t have to worry anymore. This place will help you,” Razor mumbled to himself before the head master walked out onto the stage. Razor took one look at Ozpin and said, “White hair? He doesn’t look that old. Maybe it’s hair dye or something.” Either way I shouldn’t just assume anything. Father said there was a person here who could destroy, as well as rebuild anything they wanted. This guy could destroy me just by looking at me Razor thought.

Razor listened to the short speech and his right eye brow rose up as he mumbled, “Well that was encouraging. Then again, I wonder how many hunters and huntresses he’s seen buried? That might be the reason for his attitude” at least it was short and to the point Razor thought. When Glynda took the stage, Razor mumbled again, “Guess he’s leaving the rest of the speech to his secretary.” Razor sighed when he heard all the first year students would be sleeping in the ballroom.

Beacon academy 1st floor hallway- Monday Mid-day

“That’s not going to work,” Razor said before he saw that the meeting was over. He left the large room and decided to walk the halls of the academy. As he walked the halls he tried to come up with a plan. “Maybe I’ll be able to sneak out one of the windows and find a place to sleep outside. Then again if the ballroom is on the third or fourth floor I might have a problem. However, sneaking around this place should be like sneaking around the forest.” First things first: find the ballroom and scope out the room and what I’m working with Razor thought. He looked around and found no map of the school or even a professor to help.

“Great, looks like I’m on my own,” Razor said before he continued down the hallway.

Yuna Bolt - Monday Mid Day - Beakon Courdyard
@Invariance Of C@KabenSaal

In the near distance Yuna could hear a sudden voice, it sounded as if it were coming a speaker of sort and Yuna couldn't make out the words.

"Oh no it must be starting!"

She exclaimed as she reached forward grabbing both the Fawness' wrist and Tams. After grabbing Tams wrist though she blushed a little.

"Lets go!"

Yuna Bolt - Monday Mid Day - Beakon Auditorium

She finished as she took off with incredible speed. Every once and a while she checked behind her to makes sure she didn't lose one of her unsuspecting passengers. They arrived in the auditorium just in time to watch Ms.Goodwitch take her place on the stage. Yuna let out a sigh of relief that they made it before they where too late. After listening to the speech Yuna had a new twinkle of excitement in her eyes as her heart raced a million miles an hour.

Yuna glanced over at Tam and stared for a few moments. She had to build up the courage to ask him a question and she wasn't sure the best way to do it. After the few moments have passed she decided the best way was to just come out and ask. Yuna then once again affixed her scarf over her nose and bottom portion of her face, tapped the toe of her right boot into the ground a few times as she looked down.

"Would...Would you maybe like want to... I don't know... explore the area together?

She asked Tam very nervously and once again blushing.

Nova Hail- Late Morning - Heading to Auditorium

She gave a soft smile in return as the girl introduced herself, holding out her hand but before Nova even had a chance to take her hand in return or even introduce herself Asvoria was already pulling her hand back slightly. It was as if the other was totally distracted by her sudden thought and on to the next topic which startled Nova a bit but she decided to just roll with it seeing as how this girl could very well be on her team in the future and if not than a new friend couldn't hurt. She glanced in the direction Asvoria's thumb had pointed to before nodding gently."I wouldn't mind going together. It seems people are starting to head in anyway which means it must be starting soon."Nova replied before raising a brow as Asvoria looked her up and down as if sizing her up. It had to be her imagination, right? Why would the girl do that? Had she said something? Nova hadn't thought so but kept any comments to herself to see what the other girl would say next.

What Asvoria had asked next was not what she thought she would ever hear from this small girl."I don't really think that is a gooowoah!" Nova yelped, not being able to finish her reply as was literally swept off her feet and picked up. Asvoria didn't seem to have a care in the world as she headed to the Opening Ceremony with Nova coming along for the ride. It was weird to say the least, not because of the size different but because she felt lighter as if a feather and that for sure was not a normal feeling and also it was a bit embarrassing to be carried as if hurt or like a child in her opinion. A pink blush dusted across her cheeks, a little too stunned to say anything and slightly hid her face behind her dark hair.

Noonish- Post-Ceremony

Headmaster Ozpin opened with a short speech which was more grim than inspiring in her point of view but it had sound advice and truthfulness in the words that were spoken. It wasn't long after the last word was uttered that he left the stage, Goodwitch taking over and explaining that they had the rest of the day to explore the school as to learn its layout. The only stipulation was that all the students were to gather in the ballroom that night for basically a huge slumber party as to get ready for initiation. Once Nova was free from the auditorium, she decided her first step should be to find the ballroom so she at least knew where to go for tonight instead of getting lost in the maze this place seemed to be.

Tam Cobalt - Monday Morning/Noon - Beacon Courtyard/Auditorium

Tam was watching the Cheese Fox saunter off when he heard a loud amplified voice floating on the wind, he cocked his head to the side listening intently.
"The illusion of knowledge... it is what brought all of you here today.
"Oh no it must be starting!"
All of a sudden he felt a hand grab his wrist and he was wrenched off his feet. "Lets go!"
He spun about and just managed to keep upright as he was dragged after Yuna. He thought of what a sight they must make and couldn't help but laugh.

They arrived just in time to see a very intimidating woman, maybe a huntress, take the stage. Her gaze passed over them and Tam couldn't quite dissuade himself of the notion that she had glared at them as they made their loud bumbling entrance. The woman set out the schedule of the day in no short order and soon the room was full of milling about students, unsure of what they wished to do next.

"Would...Would you maybe like want to... I don't know... explore the area together?
A mischievous glint entered Tam's eye at this, he stroked his chin in an exaggerated caricature of an old wise man with a beard considering. Time for a little revenge, He had to resist the urge to snicker as an idea lit his mind.
"Okay!"
He turned to her and grabbed her wrist, without a word he spun about and sprang forward with all his strength. Unfortunatly for Tam it appeared that he had neglected to consider one facet of his master plan and as such he found himself flying into another student who had been standing directly behind him. Just before he hit the ground he thought he saw Yuna catapulted into the student standing next to the one he had collided with.
Tam, still dizzy from his sweet sweet face to floor contact rolled over to face the student he had sprang upon.
"Fancy running into you here."

Liam Yugure - Beacon Courtyard - Mid Day
@Bigg Slamm

Liam paused after being asked the question, he took a deep breathand replied, with a serious voice and his eyes cold and serious.
"I came to Beacon to prove to my father that I can live my life without his protection, withput his money and most of all without his approval. He believes that because I am a Faunus i won't get far in life without his charity. I plan to prove him wrong. But most of all, i want to protect those who can't protect themselves, even if it is agaisn't a fellow faunus or human. Which includes the destruction of everything my father has created, his company may seem professional and law abiding, but slavery, shady business deals and murder aren't."
He went to change the subject again but was interupted when he heard a voice in the main buidling.
"I'll keep this breif..".
"OH CRAP WE'RE LATE!" Liam said after realising that all the other students were gone. He broke into a sprint, hoping Renji would understand and follow.

Liam Yugure - Beacon auditorium - Mid Day
@FateWeaver @Thundercrash
Liam ran inside the auditorium, realising he wasn't last he stopped and calmed down first before paying attention, He missed the main speech but heard the woman giving out instructions.
At least I'm not the last one... He thought to himself. He looked around and noticed lot's of different people. He hadn't been around this many people before so he was a bit taken back. he took a step back and bumped into a man with blonde hair and glasses, who was accompanied by a mysterious looking girl with black hair.
"Oh I'm so sorry, I'm not used to this kind of environment so i was a bit shocked to so many people." He said the nervousness in his voice was obvious.
"Ugh... I'm Liam, Liam Yugure." he said holding his hand out, his body slightly bowed apologetically.

Asvoria Laurent - Beacon Auditorium - Midday

Ozpin's words were. . . Encouraging? Truthfully, Asvoria barely could understand what he meant by "Illusion of Knowledge." As far as she knew, knowledge were known things. . . Though perhaps she would find in the years to come. That aside, she was about to ask something to the girl she came with when a boy crashed into Black Hair and. . . A girl crashed into her! She hardly felt a thing and was mostly unphased as she crashed to the ground as a cushion for this Purple haired girl. "How unexpected." She muttered lightly before putting one of her hands under the girl to lift her up with a single hand. She was definitely light enough, though she didn't like having someone a foot taller than her laying on top of her. "Are you okay? I think I took the most of that landing there, so I imagine you're probably fine." She couldn't help but chuckle at that.

From that point, she helped the girl stand again. . . Or maybe it was the other way around really. It didn't really matter much as Asvoria turned her attention to the other two that had collapsed into a pile. "You two need help? Or are you fine laying on top of each other in front of everyone like this?" The small laugh she had showed on her face as she asked the questions. She wasn't the best at hiding her emotions and now wasn't a different story. She'd be easily willing to lend a weight-changing hand to the two if they wanted the help.

Martin Chestnut and Dawn Agresta-Beacon Courtyard, moving to the Amphitheater-Monday morning

Participants: @Kaithas, @Flamelord

"That depends," Martin answered, his eyes staying on the courtyard for a few seconds more. "Do you happen to have any nausea meds on you?" There was a short pause, then he continued, a smile spreading across his face. His attention shifted back to the girl talking to him, back in the slight recess of the archway. "No, actually, I was late in getting off of the airship. It seems that a lot of the others have already found groups of friends... And whatever you were delayed by, it looks as if you and I are somewhat in the same boat. Call it silly if you want."

Another pause, then an abrupt start. "Oh, I'm Martin Chestnut, and certifiably not normal. Nice to meet you," he said, a steady hand held out.

"No," Dawn replied with a slight shake of her head upon the request for nausea medication. She didn't have those sorts of problems when flying, so had never seen the need for them in the first place. Well, he seemed functional anyway so it probably didn't matter that much in the end. She wouldn't feel bad about it.

After his further explanation, she glanced out into the courtyard, head tilted slightly in the process. "I see," she noted aloud. "I'm not surprised. I was busy writing down an idea for a novel I've been workin on. That's all." There would be more than enough time to make friends going on, but such ideas were fleeting and couldn't be allowed to slip away.

At the introduction, she nodded, taking his hand in a firm shake. "Dawn Agresta. Likewise."

His hand dropped to his side, vision tracing the outline of crimson hair zigzaging down the middle of her face and pulling back toward her left ear, covering her eye and a good portion of her cheek and jawline, then returned his gaze to the brown eye he could see, trying to puzzle some sort of emotion from Dawn's stare. As it was he was looking slightly down, but not much. She was slightly taller than average, not much, but enough to make him not have to stare downward.

Martin wondered if height was going to be obstinately extreme at Beacon.

"So... You're a writer, then?"

Somewhere, across the kingdom of Vale, someone was sighing at Martin's skill with small talk. That someone was Martin's brain, immediately after he said it.

Dawn didn't bother to examine Martin all that much in return, since she had gotten all the impression that she really needed to. She was aware of how her own appearance made her hard to read, but didn't mind that so much. She'd just never felt the need to change it. The people who knew her knew she wasn't all that depressing a person, and that was what mattered.

Her eyes narrowed slightly, almost imperceptibly, at his question. Had he not heard the part where she had said that she was working on a novel? Apparently not. Well, it was as much a clue as any, but she supposed that she could repeat herself for his benefit. He was probably overwhelmed, what with the nausea and all.

"Something like that," she confirmed, a hand coming to rest on her hip. "I'm working on it, anyway." Once she finished this novel anyway. Then her career could really begin. she was definitely looking forward to it.

After a momentary pause, she then went on, asking her own question now that she had the opportunity to do so. "What about you? Are you just here to be a Huntsman, or....."

"And for the schooling and training, yes." Martin shook his head, crossing his arms and sighing. "Killing Grimm constantly is not my idea of a great time, but... It's hard to pass up getting martial teaching and an education from the best."

He paused, determined to come up with something better than he had last time, then continued: "I am somewhat surprised an aspiring writer would choose Beacon, though. It's an excellent education, no doubt, but... I wouldn't imagine its focus is English."

Dawn shrugged as her choice of educational establishment was questioned, something that she was used to really. She'd definitely asked herself such questions more than once, that was for sure. But it was a bit late for regrets now even if she had any.

"Beacon is connected. If you can get through here, you're basically guaranteed a job anywhere. Besides, you can't make a living on just being an author." Sad, but true. "My older brother is a Huntsman too, so I suppose I'm a bit biased." A remote possibility, if one were to only look at it for a second, and not a closer inspection.

Luckily for Dawn's deception, Martin's ordinarily observant mind was doing its absolute best to move away from the embarrassment of his earlier question and hardly had time to put her statements under scrutiny.

"True enough, I suppose..." One of his hands reached up, one finger running from the bridge of his nose to the slight crook in it thoughtfully. "I just got tired of being decked for a hobby and possibly for a living later on." Martin looked back at her, dropping his hand to rest against his elbow again, then took a momentary glance at the courtyard. "Do you want to head out that way or stay in here? Assuming you're willing to have me stick around, of course," he added quickly, not wanting to seem needy, lonely, or pushy. Pick an adjective.

Dawn nodded as Martin accepted her reasoning, for which she could be glad. She knew that it was unconventional, but that was just how things had turned out. Would she change it if she could? Perhaps, but she wouldn't fret over those eventualities that could not come to pass for her.

Glancing out to the courtyard as well, Dawn let out a small sigh before nodding. "I guess we should be moving on. The opening ceremony is going to happen soon, and I don't think they'll appreciate it if we miss it." It wasn't as though they were late, but they might as well move on and make sure that it wasn't a higher possibility than it had to be. She would prefer to not be the person that was remembered for making a fool of themselves by coming in late.

Still, with it said she stepped forward, beyond the archway and into the courtyard. Time to get on the move.

Martin nodded, sticking his hands in his pockets and following after Dawn, blinking once he entered the direct sunlight of the courtyard. Evidently, his airsickness had dissipated--the measured care returned to his steps, his attention refocused on the environment around him and on keeping track of the only person he knew so far, less on his own stomach. Exploration of the academy could wait for a more opportune time, and maybe once he knew which team he was on they could explore Beacon together. Dawn had certainly already made up her mind about their current destination.

He walked behind Dawn for a time before saying anything, then finally spoke, giving voice to something that seemed to be more a question for him than for Dawn. Still, it was obviously directed at her. "Are you apprehensive about team assignments at all?"

For a bit the two just fell silent, walking along and looking over the campus as they made their way towards the chosen destination. Dawn didn't mind the silence, since it gave her more opportunities to watch the things that were going on, and to take in details that might otherwise go unnoticed about this place. It would be interesting to explore it more in detail later.

Glancing over to Martin at his question, she shook her head then, hair swaying lightly in turn. "Not really," she admitted nonchalantly. "We don't know how it's going to happen, so why bother worrying about something we can't affect?" She knew about the placements, and the assignment of partners from her brother, but apparently they changed how it tended to happen. Even she didn't know for sure what they would do this time. But whatever happened, it would probably be fine.

He shrugged, pulling the collar on his jacket up slightly and popping one of his shoulders. "Your team is the three people you fight and live with for four years. I might not worry, but I'm at least a little excited about seeing who they'll be, considering I'll be trusting my life to them." The amphitheater was rising slowly as they got closer, the glass dome of its roof ballooning up into the morning sky. "I'm also interested to see exactly how we're going to be assigned... And the dorm situation."

A pause, then a sigh of resignation. "All in due time, I suppose."

After a moment, Dawn nodded in agreement. "I suppose that is pretty important, yeah," she concurred, at least in terms of dorms of not the assignments themselves. It would be sorted out one way or the other, but the method was something that would need to be considered, if it had any impact on where they might end up.

Still, she couldn't help but agree with his finishing statement as they neared the amphitheater. All in due time, just like the next chapter in her novel (except hopefully a bit sooner than that, honestly. Otherwise they'd be here all week trying to work it out).

Post-Ceremony, Beacon Amphitheater

"Well," Martin said, standing after the speech and turning back to the ever-taciturn Dawn. "That was certainly an uplifting talk."

To be honest, Martin was somewhat insulted by Ozpin, but not insecure enough to be bothered by it. Whatever lack of purpose the Headmaster claimed to see in all of them, the one thing Martin had never felt was purposeless. At least they weren't late or the last to arrive--that honor was claimed by several students who came in too late to hear Ozpin's little diatribe.
