How was she supposed to describe the small, dainty town of Red Lake? Precisely that. Unlike the vibrant, riveting streets of New York where one was likely to get mugged or conned money out of, Octavia very much preferred it. This place was too silent. Too tranquil. Many ill memories brewed during long bouts of silence. It was partially why she required other entertainments to distract her.
Having just checked into Riley's Bed and Breakfast, naturally she paid for the most expensive accommodations available. It was unfortunate that it was still humbling, but it'd have to do for now. Of course, she couldn't voice her dismay to the owner of the establishment. That'd simply be rude, and Octavia wasn't a rude guest. She merely had opinions be them positive or negative. Perhaps both? The owner was nice enough she supposed. Perhaps it was a reaction to her patronage. Nothing in this world was free after all. Even kindness.
Her close associate asked her to take a few weeks vacation away from the city. Being extensively intertwined with said associate, Octavia had no choice but to agree. It was an obligation she had to him she supposed. He suggested some place more placid. Red Lake. All she was told was 'enjoy the great outdoors. See what interesting things it had to offer'. Several days earlier to today, she was here. Her urban fashion stood out like a sore thumb.
Walking down the street, Octavia squinted from behind her sun glasses. Even post-noon the sun was dreadfully scorching. She debated whether to stay in her room or explore. She chose the latter. She was here investing her time. Might as well make the most of it. She saw a bear on her second day here. Why ever she would venture to the woodlands? Boredom she supposed.
Right when she was about to walk into Jake's Cafe, Octavia deftly moved out of the way as a young teenage girl walked out the door. She scoffed ever so slightly. Not offended by any means - New Yorkers did that all the time - it was just a typical response. Without saying a single pardon, Octavia watched the youth run off. She shook her head.
"Children."Making her way into the cafe, she looked around and saw a large gathering of youths as well as several older individuals. Not interested nor disinterested, Octavia took a booth facing opposite the woman who'd just walked in. If this establishment was anything like the fine restaurants in New York, the waitress or waiter would be prompt with said service.
Taking off her sun glasses, Octavia placed them neatly on the table revealing deep violet eyes. Her blonde hair fell freely across her face with nothing to block their descent. She took out her phone as she waited. She furrowed her eyebrows. She'd already missed several dozen messages. Either her underlings were incompetent or her clientele would rather deal with her than her people. Fair enough she thought to herself. She'd respond to them when she was right and ready. Before that, she wanted to try this town's cuisine. It would be quite the experience.
Feeling eyes on her, Octavia looked up. One of the teenager's was staring at her as she responded in kind. It took mere seconds for the youth to look away. She smirked ever so slightly before returning to her phone.
Shaking off the fluster, Kimberly waved at Riley - and to Miranda. She wasn't sure why she got all up and confounded from the kiss on the cheek. It wasn't something normally happened to her, but it was by no means unpleasant. Kimberly had a thing for the blonde when they were still in school. Maybe still did. But she didn't forget the little thing that had just happened between Alyssa and herself. It was kind of nice in a way. She felt terrible for Alyssa though. It must suck knowing one couldn't show affection in public or announce the couple status thing.
"Sorry about that," she said. She looked at Miranda.
"You just caught me off guard. It's good to see you, Miri. Really!" Spotting the fish and chips at her seat, her hunger came back ten-fold. Taking a seat, she gestured for Alyssa to claim her spot again as she took a bite. It was god, loving, gooey goodness. Maybe not gooey. She looked at Riley.
"If you slipped Vanessa money for this, I know how much this cost. I am going to pay you back."As she continued to tuck away at her dish, Riley got up from her seat. Saying something getting her car to go get the RV, Kimberly gave her a thumbs up.
"Don't take too long, Ri!"Looking over at Avalon - if she remembered correctly - Kimberly wiped her lips with a napkin before speaking.
"It was Avalon right? Really pretty name. Are you new in town?" Kimberly asked.
"Oh, you're coming on the trip, right? If not, you should reconsider. Good way to meet the rest of the squad. Fun too!"Looking at two new arrivals - Kimberly was vaguely familiar with Kim - her eyes trained on a woman that belonged on the cover of a fashion magazine. Staring for too long, the woman looked up as violet colored eyes stared so deep, Kimberly thought she was about to have a heart attack. Looking away, she continued at her dish. She gestured to the lady she lost the staring contest to.
"Anyone know who that is?"
