Fareeha Amari

Interacting with the Raven; @HaleyTheRandom Ariel

Fareeha was amused, to say the least. She could practically see the princess's conflict, struggling with some internal dilemma. Based on the timing of it and how she was more or less focused on her good self, she knew, more or less, what she was struggling over. So Fareeha just gave the girl another soft, calming smile, saying nothing.

Instead, she held up one slender finger- on her non-snake side- and gracefully spun around. Stalking to the food table, she hovered over it for several moments before snatching some of the yummiest, richest, most delightful chocolate items she could find in Aciras's inventory. Thankfully, Aciras appeared to have great love of having everything at breakfast; chocolate early in the morning was by far one of the best ideas humanity came up with.

Returning with a napkin in hand, and just a number or two above half a dozen chocolate treats in hand, Fareeha stood almost shoulder-to-shoulder with her new friend, Ariel the Raven, and munched contently on a chocolate ball-thing. Filled with caramel, with hints of something else and slightly... minty, fruity, it was one of the finest chocolaties she had ever tasted.

So, Fareeha plucked the second of its kind from her hand, and held it in front of Ariel's face, while Habi looked on, mildly curious.

"Try this one," she requested, simply.

Looking at Nikolai as he looked at her, she felt her breath hitch in her chest. They had been speaking since his arrival and had looked at each other as they did. The conversation seemed to come easy for them and of that he was grateful. Yet until that moment she hadn't locked eyes with his and standing there she felt a jolt run through her before a small smile graced her pouty full lips and she felt her cheeks warm. Looking down gracefully she collected herself and let out a wispy breath from said lips as the conversation continued around them.

Glancing up to Leon she nodded appreciatively. "I am sure you will get along with your betrothed most famously," she assured Leon before glancing around the room. Her swan like neck craning this way and that to take in those around them and watching them speak.

"They all seem fascinating. Oh I know," she said as she looked back to the two regents before and a sparkle lit in her eyes. "Why don't we see if we can solve the mystery of who you betrothed is? Would be an interesting way to pass the time and perhaps then you can tuck the knowledge up your sleeve for when you see your parents? Not for anything malicious mind you, just good fun. I know not about you but I would fluttering like a butterfly if I had not known whom my betrothed was before arriving. My nerves were already on edge as it was to be out of the nation," she admitted. Though she had been nervous and still was, the way she spoke and conducted herself gave nothing of that away. The only slip in her ever calm exterior had come just moments ago.

Minor collaboration between myself and @RomanAria solely because both are short enough that they may as well fit into one post.

Edwin stood motionless and dumbstruck for what felt like an age, staring at the man before him in shock. What the devil? Had Prince Niklas really said that or had his ears deceived him? He glanced to the faces of his betrothed and of Mei and their expressions confirmed to him that he had not misheard.

He blinked a few times as he tried to clear his head and decide upon a course or action; Then he crossed one leg in front of the other and returned an exaggerated bow.

"Well met, Prince Hooligan. I am King Rich Twit the seventeenth, lord of the inane and protector of the absurd. To what do I owe the pleasure of your company and if I may, I would like some information regarding the nature and the source of the medication you are taking." Edwin said in an exaggerated RP accent before righting himself again with a small grin.

"I am elated to make your acquaintance, Prince Niklas, Princess Mei; may the light of lights illuminate your path. I am indeed Edwin, King of Anatolia and Prince of Britannia. Is there something you require of me or my betrothed or are you here merely to talk? We would be glad of your company."

Liv felt a rush of frustration as Edwin looked away from her, past and somewhat above her - was she really already boring him so awfully that he had to glance around the room? Then she noticed he'd gone slack-jawed and was staring at something with confusion on his face. The girl turned, coming face-to-face (or rather, face to ribcage!) with Niklas Konig and Mai Mei. She frowned for a second and replayed the last few seconds in her mind.... and then wondered if she was hallucinating. But no, judging by the looks on everyone's faces...

And of course, then Edwin replied with an equally outlandish declaration. Liv turned to look at Mai with a horrified and confused expression, biting her lower lip uncertainly. She did draw some small amount of comfort from the equally-horrified look on Mai's face, but still... She glanced back at Edwin as he righted himself and resumed his proper tone of speaking. It was only at that moment that the sheer absurdity of the situation hit her and she let out a small giggle, which she quickly stifled by covering her mouth with one hand.

The small girl turned back to Mai and Niklas, a soft grin still on her face, and curtsied to them. "Ave, Prince Niklas, Princess Mai. Quid famili--" she blushed and cut herself off, quickly backtracking her words. "--To what do we owe the pleasure of your company?"

Niko had already turned his attention back to Leon that he missed seeing the warm blush that colored his bethroted's cheeks. He looked around at the collection of royals around them. "I agree. Most of them seem fascinating. It would be interesting to see if my first impression of them coincide with how each are in the flesh."

"Truth be told, if I had been in your shoes, Prince Leon, I would have gone to all lengths to discover who it is I am bethroted to before coming here. It would have placed me at a great disadvantage not knowing... of course, I do not mean this in a political context," a relaxed smile crossed his lips. The conversation was lighter than he thought it would be. "My reason is simple. I would not have been able to prepare a proper gift if I had not known it was Veta," he looked at her. "However, it would have been fascinating to see you fluttering around," he said as an after thought. The relaxed smile turned into an amused one at Veta's suggestion. He looked at Leon. "I believe trying to figure out who you are to wed would be enjoyable," he looked around. "Although at this time, I can only deduce those who are unlikely to be pledged to you. It is, of course, unquestionably not Veta as she is mine," he tilted his head slightly towards the woman whose arm was intertwined with his as he let his eyes fall on each of the women in attendance. He was at least confident enough to think that it was not Liviana, Mai or Caterina.

Mai Mei of Liang

What the hell did Niklas just say? Mai thought in disbelief, a look of horror flashing over her face. She quickly composed herself, arranging her expression into one of polite bemusement as Prince Edwin Drakewine of the Empire of Britannia began to respond.

Mai felt slightly comforted that Prince Edwin replied with something equally ridiculous after a few seconds of silent bewilderment. 'King Rich Twit the Seventeenth?' Mai echoed silently. Goodness gracious. What is going on?

Mai subtly glanced down towards Princess Liviana Traianus of the Lusitanian Empire. The diminutive princess's expression perfectly mirrored Mai's own-that is, until she let a giggle escape from her. I suppose if nobody is offended, what just happened has done no harm.

Mai tilted her head to the side and studied Prince Edwin with slightly parted lips. She supposed that she ought to respond to the last bit of his 'introduction'. It was the most sensible thing that had been said in the entire conversation thus far. Mai smiled sweetly at him, her eyes glittering with a mischievous mirth. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Prince Edwin-or should I say, King Rich Twit the Seventeenth?" Mai began, laughing softly, all traces of her earlier surprise and shock completely gone. "I must say, you and Prince Niklas would make quite the dynamic duo. Prince Hooligan and King Rich Twit. Does that not have a wonderful ring to it?"

Mai then let her eyes stray to Liviana Traianus. The child-like princess wore a loose garment that resembled a tunic. Mai thought that it was more of a cross between a tunic and a dress. The dark violet fabric complemented her pale complexion nicely. There was an ivory wrap hanging from her shoulders, and Liviana's hair was done up in an messy braided up-do. Her eyes were set off with a heavy layer of gold eye shadow and mascara, and her cheeks were dusted with blush. It was a very elegant ensemble-albeit something very, very different from what Mai would have worn herself-though it looked just a tad out of place on someone as small as Liviana.

The sweet smile returned. "Princess Liviana, I must say that it is truly an honor to meet you as well. How are you on this lovely morning?" said Mai. "I have to admit that I absolutely adore the wrap you are wearing. What is it made of? It is such a sheer, delicate thing, yet it is completely opaque. It is simply gorgeous," she gushed.

Mai paused for a second and glanced at Niklas before continuing. "My betrothed-Prince Niklas is his true name, as I am sure you two already are aware of, if you will forgive me for being serious for just this moment-and I are merely here to make conversation. One cannot attend an event of this size without a bit of socializing, no? Mai laughed lightly. So far, neither Prince Edwin nor Princess Liviana appeared to be the type that got riled up for no reason or were too stiff to take a joke, as evidenced by their respective reactions to Niklas's absurd introduction.

Mai's dark eyes sparkled with playfulness, and a coy smile twitched at her lips. "I do wonder what the result of the next three months will be. I do not doubt that the marriages will be as prosperous as we can hope for. I am more interested in the friendships that come out of this...and, of course, the new fashion ideas that I will be sure to acquire from this mixing of royalty. Princess Liviana, you must show me how you did your hair this morning at some later date. I cannot possibly fathom how you managed to create such a wonderfully free-flowing yet controlled style without wanting to simply pull your hair out! And I'm sure that all of us could spend hours discussing the most fascinating of topics." Mai chuckled. "Everything from ancient history to winged eyeliner, no?"

Mai fell silent, giving the others a chance to respond. Things were coming along nicely, and if she could make an ally out of the Empire of Britannia, the Lusitanian Empire, or both, then her borderline rambling had not gone to waste. As much as I hate to judge based on first impressions and appearances, I believe that Prince Edwin will be the tougher nut to crack, so to speak. Princess Liviana is already quite insecure, or so I've inferred, and as along as I do not say anything blatantly offensive or too sensitive for her, the occasional ferocity that I have read about should not ever be directed towards either Niklas or I. And I cannot say how relieved I am that Prince Edwin had the good grace to return Niklas's absurd introduction with an absurd introduction of his own. If he had been a prim and proper prince who was obsessed with etiquette...oh, that would have been humiliating. I don't even want to think about it.

Mai surveyed the rest of the ball room. Princes and princesses were moving about, conversing with one another under the elegant chandelier. Hmm. Well, I certainly cannot say that these next three months will not be interesting. No, I suppose there will be plenty of things to keep my mind occupied while I am in Aciras.

Raven Aster Willow
Princess of Aciras

Raven had had a short conversation with Talya, though she had to say that she perhaps felt a bit better about the other girl. She had always thought she was a bit wild, but somehow, meeting her in person reassured her that Talya was actually worthy in her own way to hold the crown.

Her fellow royalty had started to branch off in pairs and groups. Some to the garden, others to the Library. Raven herself retired to her own room. She studied the Faberge Egg once more, now placed upon her desk. It really is beautiful, she thought, noticing her books from Prince Leon. Some of them she already owned, as suspected, but the one that caught her eye was a first edition of one of her favorites. She had searched the Kingdom high and low looking for this book and now, alas, here it was. Then there was the necklace from Prince Nikolai. It to was a beautiful specimen. However, Raven didn't remember putting these things here herself. Jasper must have snuck them up here. Looking out her window, she seen a few various people in the rose garden. There was no reason for her to go back downstairs. Everyone was just getting familiar with the castle today. Tomorrow, however, would be the event she had been waiting ages for. The Grand Ball.

She woke the next morning, performing her familiar routine of showering and brushing her teeth. She faint sounds heard other such movement, assuming that some of her fellow royalty was getting ready for breakfast theirselves. She dressed simply today. A dark red dress that was longer in the back than the front, heels to match and a silver bracelet that had small clusters of diamonds upon it. Taking a look in the mirror, she debated on what to do with her hair just as Jasper came in. "Your highness," he said. "Your father has requested you in the dinning room in ten minutes."

"Thank you Jasper," she said, reaching for her brush. She couldn't help but notice that the man was still standing in the door when she returned her blue eyed gaze back to the mirror. "You can go now," she added. "You know that I can dress myself just as well as I do." He looked as if he wanted to say something, his lips beginning to form a word for just a split second before he pursed his lips, nodded his head and closed the door behind him on his way out.

Raven grabbed a hair band off the dresser, tying her hair back lazily, leaving her bangs out of the bow to do their own thing. Simple enough. She took a deep breath before heading out the door and down the stairs towards the dinning room.

Elizaveta smiled graciously towards Leon and turned her head to look over towards Nikolai as he stated without a doubt that she was his. She hadn't expected such an outward display of claiming on his part. Oddly it made her feel warm and secure in their betrothal; as if there was something more going on than just what what their families had arranged. They seemed to be getting along well and had similar interests and views on the world around them. Smiling up at Nikolai she nodded in agreement. "That I am my own, that I am," she said in a bird like voice. Taking a moment she glanced around as she saw that others were starting to leave. The hour was growing late and they had a long day ahead of them tomorrow.

"If you two would excuse me, I need to settle in for the evening. Much to do with such little time to prepare for tomorrows gala," she said to the both of them. Biding Leon a good evening before turning towards Nikolai and smiling back to him once again. "Rest well, I look forward to tomorrow," she said in a graciously kind voice before leaning up and pressing her lips to his cheek. A soft pink coming to her cheeks as she turned and was followed by Sergi and Aziza towards her quarters.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The night ran longer than Elizaveta would have liked, last minute changes to her Gala ensemble caused the time go fly by and it was well past midnight before she had crawled into bed. Rising early as she normally did she went about taking a quick shower and readying herself for the day ahead. Other than the Gala she was not sure what was on the agenda for the day but figured she could go with something casual for breakfast at least. If she needed to change later on she would but for now Casual Elegance would suffice.

Smiling to herself as she looked over towards the garment bag that hung up along the wall she couldn't help but feel excited about the gala that evening. She had always enjoyed her ballroom dance lessons, it made her feel like she was in a simpler time when etiquette and manners meant far more than they did today. When courtship existed and a waltz was a way to get to know just how comfortable one would be intimately with their partner. Stepping over to the hanging bag she unzipped it carefully and ran her fingers over the fabric. She had had a gown especially made for the evening but when her eyes fell onto the necklace that Nikolai had given her she knew she wouldn't wear it. She was glad she planned ahead and that at least one of the alternative gowns that brought with her worked perfectly.

Zipping back up the bag she grabbed her bag and slung it over her shoulder and stepped out of her room, leaving Aziza there to take care of a few things for her in her absence as Sergie greeted her in the hallway. "I hope you slept well," he said in flat voice. Elizaveta chuckled to herself a bit and gave a light shrug. "What sleep I did get was wondrous," she said as she made her way down the hallways towards the dining room for breakfast. Stepping in she glanced around, figuring it was still early and others would be joining her soon enough.

Mai Mei of Liang

Mai blinked blearily, letting her eyes adjust to the light coming from the weak morning sun filtering through the thin curtains that covered the window. She remained in bed for a moment longer, letting herself savor one last second of peace and quiet, before turning on her side to the clock that sat on the night stand next to the four-poster bed. Mai was pleased to find that it was still quite early, which gave her ample time to prepare for the day.

She sat up, pushing aside the covers, and stretched like a cat. Mai stood up and padded softly over to the vanity in the opposite corner of the room. There, her belongings had already been carefully laid out the night before. She was pleased to find that one suitcase in particular had not been touched-it contained most of her ball gowns, and tucked away into the folds of the ball gowns were her beloved bladed fans and hairpins and parasols. Mai had by no means brought along her entire collection of them, but the small number she'd slipped into her suitcase would be enough for her stay in Aciras.

Much like the day before, Mai had already planned out what she would wear weeks in advance. Mai brushed out her hair slowly and methodically, as she always did, and pinned it to the side while she focused on other aspects of her appearance. A pair of pearl studs went on her ears, and a black choker with a pearl pendant to match the earrings went around her neck.

Mai procured a curling iron and carefully teased her wavy black hair into a vintage hairstyle reminiscent of 1940's Shanghai. It took a great deal of hair spray for her hair to keep its shape, but Mai was pleased with the final product. Mai arranged a few bobby pins with wickedly sharp ends into her hair, their presence swallowed up by the inky black curls framing her face.

Moving onto make-up, Mai's fingers hovered over the array of eye shadows, blushes, lipsticks, and eyeliner pencils neatly spread out in front over her. She began with a thin layer of foundation to cover up any slight blemishes on her face. Then came a light coat of blush. Mai tackled her eyes with a mascara wand and black eyeliner, brushing the barest hint of a soft black eye shadow over her eyelids. And last but not least-lipstick. Mai selected a deep, glossy red to match her dress.

Speaking of dresses: Mai walked over to the closet, where she had hung up the dress she planned on wearing to breakfast the night before. It was a gleaming shade of red somewhere in between crimson and burgundy, made of taffeta with a skirt that reached just above her knees. It was rather simple, Mai had to admit, but there was a certain elegance in its simplicity. She donned the dress and surveyed herself in the mirror once more.

Satisfied with her reflection, Mai put on a pair of black gloves that ended just below her elbows and stepped into her shoes-black high heels with a "bow" that wrapped around her ankles. She grabbed hand bag made of red leather "ruffles" and a parasol made of black lace, glanced at herself in the mirror one last time, and strode out of her bedchamber.

Outside, both Ayreesha and Zheng were waiting for her. Both of them stood up at the sound of her arrival. Zheng opened his mouth to speak, but Ayreesha beat him to it.

"Good morning, princess. Please, you must allow me to attend to you as you get ready next time," Ayreesha said.

Mai gave her a gentle smile while her insides churned with suspicion. What game is Casimir playing at? she thought.

"I assure you, Ayreesha, there is absolutely no need for that," Mai replied.

Zheng cleared his throat. "Princess. You slept well, yes?" He seemed uncomfortable with Ayreesha in the room, so Mai turned to the other woman and sent her away on some meaningless chore.

With Ayreesha gone, Mai was able to speak freely. Zheng relaxed as well. "I slept well, yes. And you?" Mai answered, switching to her native tongue.

"The same. How is Prince Niklas?"

Mai paused. "He is...fine, so far. He is perfectly charming and flattering in every way, as expected."

"Hmph. I see. I assume you know what's planned for today, Mai?"

Mai rolled her eyes in a very un-ladylike manner. "Of course I do, Zheng. And I believe it is time for breakfast. Shall we?"

Zheng gestured towards the door. "Lead the way."

The two of them strolled down the elegant carpeted corridors to the dining room. As they walked, Mai couldn't help but to mentally wrinkle her nose slightly at the royal gardens that she caught a glimpse of from the window. Oh, it's all very beautiful, yes, but it's so controlled. It's so very Western. I'd much rather be in the palace in Peking, surrounded by the harmony between buildings and plants that my ancestors valued so much.

The absurdity of criticizing architecture at an event of such a grand scale almost made Mai laugh out loud.

She and Zheng soon arrived at the dining room. They were rather early, as evidenced by the fact that only Princess Raven Willow of Aciras and Princess Elizaveta Romanova of Noslainia were in the room. Mai smiled a greeting to her host as Zheng melted away from her side. Elizaveta was closer to Mai, so Mai decided to approach her instead.

"Good morning, Grand Duchess. I do not believe I have had the pleasure of your acquaintance yet. I am Mai Mei of Liang, and it is an honor to meet you," Mai said in a pleasant voice, extending her right hand.

Nikolai & Caterina

Collaboration of: @Kyrisse & @Neno 1445

Perhaps it was because of the time difference of Anduin and Aciras that Niko found himself awake while the sky was still dark and most of the people were, no doubt, still in their beds. When he opened his eyes, he was momentarily disoriented, expecting to be back home. He glanced around, the unfamiliar room bringing to mind the events that had transpired the day before. Aciras, he thought to himself as he stared at the ceiling, contemplating whether to get up or just pass the time lying there.

After a few more seconds, he threw off the blankets and stood up. The day was as good as any to go watch the sunrise. He went through his usual morning routine and threw on casual clothes. He didn't expect to be mingling with other royalties at this early hour in the morning so casual clothes seemed to be the best to wear.

Silently, he slipped out of the castle. "Time difference made you wake up earlier than was necessary?" he caught a glimpse of his designated bodyguard as he stepped out into the courtyard.

Anthony chuckled. "Yes, Prince Niko. That and the inkling that you would slip out of your room to see the sunrise," he replied as he stepped out of the shadows. "I believe the man servant Prince Casimir gifted you would be disappointed to have missed you this morning. He had stayed outside your door the whole night. I think he was hoping you have a request for him," he shook his head amusedly. "While I believe his presence is not necessary, I admire his steadfastness."

Niko nodded. "Yes. He is steadfast, is he not?" he chuckled. "I should at least reward him for that."

"I suggest you assign him a task. I believe that is as good as any reward, seeing as how he almost yearns to be at your every beck and call," Anthony said.

Niko chuckled and nodded. "I agree," he said and then promptly fell silent. Anthony, used to Niko's ways, fell back a few feet and let the crown prince of Anduin enjoy the silence.

Niko walked casually, the wide expanse of land and the silence both relaxing him. He watched the sun rise in the horizon as he walked and stopped near a lake. Looking out to it, he saw a gazebo a short distance away. With a small smile on his face, he made his way towards it.

Caterina had left to her room early the day before; She was starting to feel suffocated with all the royalties around her. She had also been content with the day's turn out. She had managed to get herself associated with almost everyone. She also met Prince Nikolai once again, she wouldn't deny it was comforting to see a familiar face around even if it was someone she wasn't particularly fond of.

She couldn't sleep as comfortably or as much as she had intended to. Being in a new setting made her anxious. Before dawn with a while, she had decided it was enough waste of time, and perhaps it would be better to get herself started for the day. She had freshened up, brushed her hair, and decided on her clothing: a simple gray, off-shoulder, sleeved, body hugging blouse with black skinny jeans, and lacy black flats. She left her hair loose, tucking back the left side behind her ear.

Stepping out of her room, Caterina found Zoron who mumbled his good morning and gave her a short bow before letting his princess walk ahead of him. "Have you not slept well, Princess?" He asked curiously, making a small conversation as they headed outside the castle, in soft steps. Caterina silently nodded and ran a hand through her hair-- She didn't adjust to any new places easily, but she knew she was staying for three months in Aciras; If she wanted to maintain her health and mental fitness, she needed to find a way to sleep comfortably for a decent amount of hours.

"Maybe it's just the jet lag," she reasoned after a minute of silence, but she and Zoron both knew it wasn't just that. Stepping out of the castle, Caterina breathed in deeply, appreciating the fresh air adorned by the mist of dawn. Zoron smiled fondly at the young royalty, knowing that perhaps a walk would take her mind off things.

Caterina aimlessly walked through the vast land when her eyes fell on a gazbo right on the lake. Caterina looked back at Zoron with a slight smile. Zoron knew that Caterina from then on intended to make the gazbo her spot, or so he guessed.

Caterina made her way to the gazbo with Zoron falling a few steps behind. She was smiling slightly as she walked in when she noticed Nikolai and his guard standing there as well. Caterina hesitated before clearing her throat enough to catch their attention.

"I suppose the time difference got us both up so early." Caterina noted as she walked to where Nikolai stood with confidence and intention.

"Good morning," she greeted to both Nikolai and his guard.

Niko had been staring out into the waters of the lake deep in thought when Caterina arrived. He looked up at her just as Anthony stepped away to give the two royals some privacy. "Good morning," Niko greeted back and gave her a small smile. "I did not think anyone else would be up at this early hour. I suppose the time difference affected you just as it did me."

Caterina smiled slightly with a nod. "It is quite nervewrecking with so many royalties around." She admitted as she rubbed the side of her arms. Although she seemed quite comfortable and confident the night before, she admitted then that it was making her a little nervous.

"I would not have thought that you were nervous had you not told me," he said. "An understandable reaction, however," he looked up to the horizon, at the first rays of the sun as it peeked through the clouds.

Caterina glanced at him and shrugged silently. "We cannot tell anyone then." She suggested as she too turned to watch the rays of the sun as they peeked through the clouds.

Both watched the sunrise in silence. "I have given it some thought and have come to a realization that our kingdoms will never be able to move on forward as friends if we refuse to put our differences aside. You and your people see us as traitors for allying ourselves with Vale instead of Svearike, no?" Niko said as he watched the sky turn a lighter shade of blue.

Caterina had been silently enjoying the scene with no thoughts in her head but the appreciation of the nature around her. She turned to Nikolai slightly as he spoke of their differences. Caterina couldn't help but crack a small smile at his attempt to possibly befriend her; She definitely appreciated it. "Obviously so, but we are supposed to put it aside after the treaty afterall." She agreed as she turned back to watch the dynamically changing sky.

Both royals watched the sunrise in silence, a vow of friendship passing silently between them.

The sun was already shining brightly in the sky when Caterina and Niko finally walked back into the castle.

The night had been long but having kept busy arranging her gown for the evening to come had not made Elizaveta wander through the night or lay there tossing and turning because of the time zone difference. By the time she was able to get to sleep she had fallen to dream land quickly and slept pleasantly enough. Turning and seeing Mei Mei in the room she smiled graciously as the woman in red came over to her and introduced herself. Taking her hand in her own gently, she gave a respectful curtsy; lowering her head somewhat in the process. Waiting until she rose fully and released the woman's hand before she spoke.

"It is truly a pleasure to finally meet you. I have looked forward to being able to speak to you since I learned of this event. I am most thankful that you are making time in your schedule to speak with me at this moment," she said in a dove-like voice as she stood there. "And please, call me Veta. My title makes me sound like I am my grandmothers age," she said with a light chortle as she spoke.

There was a gentle light in the way she spoke and carried herself while she spoke to Mei Mei. She had wanted to get to know the ruler of Liang for some time after what she had learned about her and her country. The woman had seemed to have been through so much and yet she carried herself with strength as well as grace. It was a beautiful combination that Mei Mei seemed to carry effortlessly and for that alone Elizaveta couldn't help but admire her.

"I hope you were able to sleep well last night and that you are finding your stay here pleasant thus far," she added after a moments pause. Glancing slightly out of the corner of her eye she caught sight of her betrothed and Caterina in the castle walking together. Her brow barely moved but it twitched just slightly pondering why they were together at such an early hour. They had said yesterday that there was nothing between them and she trusted their words but there was something about the two wandering about so early at this time alone that would have caused a scandal in even some of the looser tradition nations. Appearances were something that could be even more trusted than the truth itself and after everything her Empire had been through, appearances alone could force her to have to break off a betrothal. It was not something she wished but if they were going to be alone with each other, could she risk the damage it could present to her nation at this time after so many years of turmoil?

Oblivious to Veta's eyes on him, Niko bid Caterina another good morning before he headed towards his assigned room to change. Outside the room stood Arush. He was just about to knock on the door when Niko walked up. The man servant looked at him, surprised that the young prince was out and about. He covered his surprise with a low bow. "Good morning, your Highness. I was not aware that you had awoken so early," he frowned. "I apologize for the inconvenience my absence brought about. Please. Allow me to be of service."

Niko shook his head and gave the man a smile. "Do not worry yourself about such things. I merely went out for a walk as I have yet to adjust to the time difference of this country to mine."

Arush looked relieved and at the same time surprised that the Prince would explain his whereabouts to him. "Then I hope your Majesty's walk had been nothing short of refreshing."

Niko nodded. "It was," he agreed.

"Shall we have you ready for breakfast?" Arush asked politely.

"Yes. You may go ahead and prepare the appropriate attire for me," he said as he walked into the room.

A look of delight crossed the manservant's face and he immediately sprung to action.

A few minutes later, Niko emerged from his room wearing an all black attire. He followed after Arush as he led him to the dining room. He walked in and noted the three princesses present inside. There was Raven, the princess of Aciras, Mai Mei of Liang and his own bethroted, Veta. She smiled at each one of them. "Good morning, ladies," he greeted. Two ladies in red was a sight to behold but his eyes stayed on his future queen as he made his way towards her. He admired the elegant way she carried herself even in casual clothing.

Feora woke up early the following morning, before the sun had yet to rise above the horizon. Rising early was a habitual practice for her that came from growing up in Wulfswinth, where everything bustled with life shortly after sunrise. It took her a few moments to register where she was and why. And when it all came rushing back to her, she felt a constricting sensation that she had grown all too familiar with. There was a time when she used to wake up excited for the day, but lately, all she felt was dread. She grew weary of pretending to be someone she wasn’t and trying to live up to others’ expectations. With the added stress of her arranged marriage, it was almost too much to bear. Almost. Her fiery spirit wouldn’t allow herself to be completely broken down. Feora took a deep calming breath before getting out of bed to prepare for the day.

After taking a shower, she towel dried and brushed out her long dark brown hair before putting it in a simple braid. When she went to pick out something to wear, she noticed that a dress and a pair of heels were already set aside. Her handmaiden must have picked it out after moving her stuff into the room. “I am not wearing another dress,” she stated with an annoyed huff. She bypassed the dress and went for a simple green top and dark blue jeans paired with black paddock boots and a brown belt. She didn’t bother to put any makeup on. She wasn’t great at applying it anyways. With that all done, she made to leave her bedchambers. When she opened the door, to her utter annoyance, she was greeted by her two guards Maxwell and Fitzroy. “I should have figured that being in another kingdom would not stop your routine of getting up early,” she grumbled. She hated having them follow her around, more so after she realized that they were likely telling her father about everything she said or did. She barely held back a glare. She shut the door behind her and then pushed past her guards. She didn’t get far before she saw her two handmaidens, one from Wulfswinth and the other from Prince Casimir, come around the corner. “Princess, did you not see the dress I picked out for you?” Elizabeth, the handmaiden from Wulfswinth, asked when she spotted Feora.

“Yes, I did, and I chose not to wear it. Now, I do not require either of your assistances until the ball tonight,” Feora retorted sharply. She then continued on past them, ignoring their slightly shocked faces. She schooled her facial expression to something more neutral as she headed for the dining room. She was tempted to turn around and head back to her room when she spotted several people (Mai, Elizaveta, Nikolai, and Raven) already in the dining room. She forced a smile onto her face as she entered the room with her guards trailing behind her.

Mai Mei of Liang

Mai inclined her head in response to Elizaveta's curtsy, meeting her gaze as the other woman began to speak. "I am glad that we have a chance to talk to one another, Mai responded. She laughed lightly at her comment about her title of Grand Duchess. "Very well, Veta, and please, simply call me Mai. I agree with you-fancy titles are so..." Mai trailed off, wrinkling her nose slightly. "They're so old-fashioned. May I be blunt with you, Veta? I think both of our kingdoms are ready for something that isn't old-fashioned at this point, if you know what I mean." Mai laughed sheepishly. "Don't get me wrong, being old-fashioned is not a bad thing. But sometimes it is truly refreshing to be a little more free-spirited, no?"

Here Mai paused and chuckled softly, thinking back to the previous day. "Why, just yesterday, my betrothed-Prince Niklas Konig of Konig der Welten-introduced me as, ah, what was it? A 'lovely feline named Princess Meow from Lirooow'? Mai laughed again. "I had no idea what to make of that!"

Mai admired the way that Elizaveta could wear the simplest outfit so effortlessly. Mai herself only felt like a true princess after coating her face in layers of cosmetics and donning her favorite pair of spiky heels. She supposed that was a flaw of hers that couldn't be helped, given her upbringing. "I am having a wonderful time here so far, and I hope that you are as well," replied Mai to Elizaveta's last comment, not letting the slight twitch of her brow slide past her.

Did I say something that offended her? Mai wondered, until she caught a glimpse of Princess Caterina Versini of Svearike's confident saunter striding in the opposite direction of Prince Nikolai Johanssen of Anduin's more laid back walk. Ah. Well, I shall stay out of this, but it is certainly an interesting tidbit. I seem to recall that their kingdoms have a... history with each other.

Prince Nikolai entered the ball room, greeting everybody as he did so. Mai smiled politely at him as he looked at Elizaveta. "Good morning," she said.

Again, Mai could not help but to admire the way the two complemented each other. It would have been the perfect betrothal in Mai's eyes if she had not taken note of the minuscule twitch in Elizaveta's expression when she saw her betrothed with another woman.

All things aside, Elizaveta truly had more strength in her than most people thought, that much was clear. Mai was almost envious of how she seemed to think the best of people until given reason to think otherwise. Mai had stopped doing that herself a long, long time ago.

Mai's gaze flitted to the entrance as Princess Feora Swinth of Wulfswinth strode in. Like Veta, she wore a more casual outfit. The princess of Wulfswinth was smiling, though there seemed to be a slightly forced quality behind it. Mai guessed that she was not very happy about being in Aciras, but she could not say for certain.

In any case, it would have been rude to ignore the other princess, so Mai turned in her direction and smiled back. "Good morning, Princess Feora," she said. "I must say, that shade of green suits you perfectly."

There. At least that part was sincere.

That term had wiggled its way into the conversation, old-fashioned; not just once but multiple times. Elizaveta detested the phrase, one that was used against her time and time again. People telling her that she was old-fashioned, that she was too rooted in the past, that she needed to be a more modern woman despite the fact that she took her title into her own hands and went among her people in a way that most regents would never even consider. Yet, she did not let her feathers ruffle. She had heard it so many times, she let it go, rolling off her calm exterior like water off a ducks back; or in this case a swans. A gentle smile played on her lips as she chose the words to reply to Mei's sudden speech against old fashion notions.

"I will admit that I both agree and disagree with you on this topic. Why we do need to make progress towards a more modern outlook and in turn actions, some things are so deeply rooted in tradition for a reason. On one hand, I believe that titles in the end mean nothing. A true ruler is not defined by the blood they were born with but by the blood they shed for their people and their willingness to lay themselves on the line for the greater good. A ruler that is not willing to get down in the muck and mire along side their own people has no right to lead to them for they cannot understand what their people are living through if they are not able to live through it themselves. How can one help if one does not educate themselves? It is like requesting a handmaiden to save the life of a man who is wounded in battle. They can try, they will fumble, and most likely fail where a surgeon who is educated in such matters stands a far better chance," Veta said in a dignified voice. Pausing for a moment before she continued.

"And yet some things that a person may consider to be old-fashioned are deeply rooted traditions for a reason and are in fact simply timeless. Courtesy, integrity, courtship, etiquette, compassion; such things should never be forgotten. Perhaps titles and ceremonies are a bit out dated but they give us and our people something to hold onto, something that bridges the gaps between class and monetary security. Why else would be here? Betrothal is considered an old-fashion practice that I would suspect many here are not in favor of and yet here we are. To create bridges between our nations and ourselves to what we hope in the end will be for the betterment of each paired nation. And for those that find solace in their pairings a strong foundation that isn't based on a momentary and perhaps fleeting attraction," she added, a gentle smile playing on her lips.

"Though I will admit, Princess Meow would have caused me to take a step back and then perhaps to burst out in a chortle. It does have a nice ring to it," she added with a dove like giggle. Seeing her betrothed enter the room Veta nodded in greeting. "Good morning dear, I trust you slept well," she said in a kind voice, opting to ask about why he had been out so early with another later on; when less eyes and ears were on them. It would not be good nor proper to start a confrontation in the middle of breakfast; especially after he had all but ignored her farewell and goodnight the evening before. Something she wondered how many had taken note of. It was not boding well that her betrothed should blush at another in just speaking while a kiss on his cheek did not even render an acknowledgement from his soon to be wife.

Turning her attention to Feora as she entered the room, Elizaveta pushed the future conversation out of her mind. Down casting her eyes she gave a slight curtsy towards Feora. "Good morning to you Princess Feora, a truly beautiful color choice. It compliments you in such a more endearing fashion than it does me," she said lightly as she looked at her own shirt and then Feora's. They seemed to have a similar taste in what needed to be worn that morning, picking similar outfits - down to the same shade of blouse, wearing jeans, and boots. "One would think we planned this."

As Niko stood nearer Elizaveta, he recalled how they had parted the night before. She had pressed a light kiss on his cheek and he had only stared at her as she walked away. His cheeks had flared a bright pink color. While he was sure the Duchess didn't see his reaction, he was sure Leon did. Not wanting to be teased by how he had reacted, Niko had cleared his throat and immediately excused himself. For all the training he's ever had with running a kingdom, for all the formality he carried himself with, it was a little disconcerting that a simple kiss on the cheek from a beautiful woman would fluster his usual calm demeanor. Sure, he knew countless beautiful women from Anduin's court but none of them really interested him the way his bethroted did. And none of them really had the guts to come up to him and actually kiss him.

"Truth be told, I believe the time difference is still affecting my sleep. But an early morning walk and watching the sunrise had most definitely refreshed me," he paused and then gave his bethroted a relaxed smile. "Perhaps you would like to see it with me one of these days, he suggested.

A cheeky thought ran through his head. Maybe it was childish of him but he wanted to see if Veta would react the same way he did. He leaned down and pressed a kiss on her cheek the same way she did the night before. And then he flashed her a bigger grin. "Þú ert falleg. You look beautiful," he complimented her both in his native tongue and in English before he straightened up and greeted Feora. "Good morning, Princess Feora," he acknowledged her with the same grin on his face.

Feora curstied respectfully to those in the room and began the first of many pleasantries to come today. She turned to acknowledge Princess Mai Mei of Liang first. “Good morning to you as well,” she replied with a small smile. “I suppose that is a good thing considering green is one of the colors on my kingdom’s coat of arms.” The Grand Duchess Elizaveta of Noslainia greeted her next and to Feora’s surprise similarly complimented her attire. Her eyebrows rose slightly as she glanced down at her own simple shirt then back up at Elizaveta. This, seriously? I just haphazardly grabbed the first shirt I saw. “Thank you for your compliments, both of you. You’re very kind, and you both look stunning as ever.”

Feora’s gaze drifted over to Prince Nikolai of Anduin. Her eyes widened when he leaned over and kissed Elizaveta, evidently his betrothed, on the cheek. How can they already be that comfortable enough with one another? I cannot even imagine being that way with Henry… Her face flushed at the thought of Henry kissing her, and she quickly looked down while she got her wits about her. Betrothed or not, I swear I will punch him in the face if he tries anything like that, she thought angrily to herself. She quickly composed herself once more.

Prince Nikolai was the final one to greet her. “Good morning,” she stated simply as she mustered up another small smile. She pretended as if she was at ease when in fact she was anything but that. Given the circumstances of her being here, she was left feeling on edge. She was walking on a fine line between duty and desire. Oh how she wanted to do things her way, but she feared the retribution it could bring. Why did her life have to be so complicated?

Leon Fords
Prince of Krieg-Königreich

Leon had woken up early today. Not quite as early as he would have liked but still earlier than most. He spent the majority of the morning out at the basketball court running laps and doing various drills. Once the other royals began gathering for breakfast Bartram alerted Leon to this fact. After this Leon went to his room and took his time freshening up to meet back up with the other Prince and Princesses.

Leon opted to go with a somewhat casual attire for this morning. He grabbed his best pair of blue jeans and put on a nice button up shirt. He didn't want to overdo it or underdo it and felt this outfit was a good middle ground. Once he was satisfied he made his way to the location of the breakfast meetup. When he arrived he noticed a few had already arrived before him. Among those were Princess Raven, Grand Duchess Elizaveta, Princess Mai Mei, Princess Feora, and Prince Nikolai. Leon walked over towards the group and said, "Good morning all. Princess Feora, Princess Mai Mei, it is a pleasure to meet the two of you. I hope I haven't shown up to late for breakfast."

Princess Sade Magoro of Udawen

Sade felt someone rubbing her cheek in gentle strokes as she slowly stirred herself awake, forcing her eyes open a tiny sliver. When she'd finally managed to open her eyes, she saw that her favorite handmaiden, Zola, had been the one to wake her up. Zola had been a part of Sade's life since she was two years old, and loves her as though she was her grandmother. "Well, Good morning, sunshine!" The old handmaiden said with a bright smile. Returning the smile, Sade sat up in bed and stretched her arms above her head, allowing the sunlight that was beaming in through the window warm her skin. There was the peculiar taste of stale saliva in her mouth from sleeping with her mouth open, making her desperately want a glass of water. Sade was definitely not a morning person, preferring to stay up all night and sleep all day.

In fact, she'd been up late the night before, laying out her outfit for this morning's breakfast and the Grand Ball that would take place later on. Shortly after she'd finished the final touches on her outfit, her parents arrived, finally letting her know to whom she was betrothed to. "It's time to get ready for breakfast, dear." Zola said before leaving Sade to her own devices.

After about ten minutes of sitting in bed and staring into space, Sade finally arose and started her morning routine: she took a shower, washed her hair and face, brushed her teeth, and got dressed. Because it was so early in the morning, Sade decided against wearing makeup, opting for a clear gloss on her lips instead. She knew that her mother would disapprove, but didn't think too much of it. After all, she was forcing her to wear heels. Unfortunately, her hair had not completely dried before it was time to leave her room, so she pulled it into a large puff on the top of her head.

Once finished, Sade left her room and headed towards the dining room for breakfast. The closer she got, however, the more her palms sweated. In just a few moments, she'd officially meet the man she was to marry. Upon entering the dining room, she grew more anxious, but made sure to maintain her composure. Taking a quick glance around, she saw that Mai Mei, Elizaveta, Feora, Raven, Nikolai, and Leon had already arrived and were conversing among themselves. Clearing her throat and letting a bright smile find its way to her lips, Sade made her way to the group.

"Good morning, everyone," Sade said with a slight nod of her head, "I see that I am a bit late, do forgive me." She looked at each one of them as she spoke, making direct eye contact. "Ni nzuri na kufanya marafiki wako, It's nice to meet you all."

"Thank you ever so kindly," Elizaveta said in a kind voice towards Feora as she complimented them both on their attire. It seemed to be a genuine compliment and so the grand duchess took it as such, she saw no reason not to. Turning her attention to Nikolai her brow rose just ever so slightly, hardly noticeable, when he spoke of having a hard time to sleep and speaking about catching the sunrise. He conveniently left out the part where he had been out with another woman and sharing that moment with her. To have him suggest that they would share the same sat oddly in the pit of her stomach. Was private moments shared between two such a thing that was common in his lands? Had she had shared such a moment with another and then invited a different person to do the same, well her grandmother would have given her a good weeks long speech on how improper it was.

Those thoughts were the only thing that saved Elizaveta from blushing to her core when Nikolai placed a kissed to her cheek. Lost in thought she had barely even noticed he had pressed his lips to her skin. Only truly noticing it when he spoke and complimented her in her native tongue. A gentle smile came to her lips as she rested her free hand on the arm she had her other laced with. "Thank you my dear, you look as handsome as ever," she complimented him before glancing away. She knew she would have turned red as fresh strawberries had she been focused more surely when he kissed her but because of the distraction of thought, not a hint of color came to her skin and she was able to remain as composed and graceful as ever. Something she was very thankful for, it would not do well to blush right then, not when questions needed to be asked and answered. Yet she couldn't ask them right then, it would not be proper.

"Perhaps one day we can share such an intimate moment, though it probably should wait until we are further along in our betrothal to share such a moment. To be alone already could be taken as a salacious act," she said quietly before looking back towards Nikolai. She looked at him for a moment before giving him a soft reassuring smile. "Though I do hope that one day we care deeply enough about each other to share such intimacies."

Seeing Prince Fords entering the room out of the corner of her eye she turned her attention to him. Giving a proper curtsy as he greeted them before returning the sentiment. "Good morning to you as well Leon. You look well rested and ready to go," she said in a friendly voice before noticing that noticing that Sade was entering the room as well. She smiled at the woman, extending her hand to her graciously. "Nothing to forgive, truly a pleasure to be able to meet you and speak with you."
