“where am I? Whats going on? WHY IS THERE AN URSARING RAGING ABOUT!?”
Out of nowhere Ven started spouting nonsense to the chaos around him… he started to wonder how he got here. Oh thats right i was dragged off by that cute crazy girl while I was focusing on her sylveon.
Other things seemed to happen along the way like traveling in a group and a battle? Ven was still dazed from being dragged along by Ruby and only just started processing everything.. Only to have it all freeze again momentarily as the scene in front of him unfolded.
Seeing everyone react Ven realised now might not be the best time to document the situation at hand but he was going to anyway. Watching the three he seemed to now be traveling with dealing with the situation in their own ways Ven thought he might as well join in and help, he did hear something about rangers coming so they only had to stall and gain time. “Alright Lets help too, lets stall it out” The blue sylveon next to Ven looked up with an expression that looked like it was saying ‘you want me to fight THAT?’
“Come on we don’t have to fight, lets just start off with a sand attack” With a sigh it leaped in to let off its move.
Lusitania sat near the fire, poking it gently with her stick as if entranced by the flickering flames, She just waved her hand as if to brush off Chance, who said it hurt. Well, of course, it hurt he was attacked by an entire flock but he was alright now and besides it wasn't like there was anything she could do. He was strong enough to look after himself, at least she liked to think he was.
Her internal monologue was completely shattered by the arrival of her long-time friend, and even longer annoyance. "LUSI! CHANCE!" The voice yelled, causing Luna who had only been minding her own business to whimper from the sudden noise. With a huff of annoyance, Lusitania threw her stick into the fire before standing up and brushing herself off, she was covered in grass stains. Just the way she liked it. Sadie continued. "Y'all left us behind." She said sounding hurt. Lusitania shook her head and walked over to her, Luna following. "I didn't mean to leave you behind, I thought you guys was following, That's my bad." She gestured to herself. "I honestly thought everyone was behind me, but I was mistaken." She continued. Luna nodding her head in agreement with her own trainers words.
"Though, I made up for it by waiting as I can't leave my traveling partners behind." Lusitania smiled at her friend. certainly, she held the concept of travelling with others at heart. Even if she was impatient with people waiting around, they just needed to learn to hurry up a little that's all and besides, Lusitania liked to think they could all care for themselves, she didn't want to needlessly mother them. She'll help them if they really needed though. Otherwise, it would just be a bother.
"Now if you'll excuse me from this conversation," Lusitania said as she started walking off the moment Leo started coming in. She waved to him as if to say 'hi' while she kept walking towards an open area of grass. She walked back to where she had her little battle with the exeggcute who wasn't there anymore. To pick up her stuff before she returned to her little patch of grass. She emptied out her small tent bag onto the floor. Carefully assembling it piece by piece, her house away from home. Luna chipped into help her peg it, fetching each peg as needed. Eventually, Lusitania's little shelter was complete. She grinned and put her stuff inside, walking back to the group.
"Is dinner ready?" She asked with a fervent hunger in her voice, her stomach grumbling. She was up for anything at this point. Her eyes staring at the cooking pot, she then left something open. "Would anyone like to have a small battle before we rest for the day." She said openly. Her eyes still fixated on the cooking pot. Luna panting with hunger at her side.
Aiden say Novis take teh charge and dive headlong into battle. A part of him on the inside was a upset about how much danger he could've just put not only himself, but also the rest of the team in, but at the same time... He was ready to support him and couldn't help but think he would've done the same in his place. "Alright bud I got your back! Let's get 'em Zorex!"
From there Zorex hopped to and jumped ahead to join Neir on the makeshift battlegrounds. smile wide and ready for a good old fashion three versus three Pokemon battle.
Roxy had to admit that she was a bit eager for a battle. The last one, she'd ended up losing against Aiden, so who could blame her? When that little group of troublemakers jumped them, she whirled around with a grin on her face. She needed to get her mind off her parents, anyway. "Well, well, Lucina. This'll be a good matchup for us, won't it?" Lucina let out an excited cry in response, taking several confident steps toward the wild Pokemon. Roxy herself was already trying to decide which one she was going to catch at the end of all this; less due to overconfidence, and more because of her excitement at the prospect of getting a new team member.
As the sparks of fire settled within the tightly spaced cave system and illuminated the area, the Drilbur took this as a challenge and began to charge blindly at the Growlithe, raising it's claw in prepartion for a scratch. Meanwhile, noticing their companion go in without telling them, the Rockruff and Larvitar both look at each other slightly shocked before charging with him, both of which were charging behind to attack the Growlithe with bites as they did not notice any threats at the time.
Apparently the little show they gave was coming back to bite Nov in the ass, considering all three of the wild Pokemon were focusing in on Nier. Which was bad. Because Nier wasn't going to take all three attacks standing. Luckily, they weren't exactly charging forward with strategy-- moreso just charging in general-- so Nier could quickly jump to the side, out of the targetted trejectory. Unfortunately, it was almost like some kind of pinser attack, and by dodging to the side, Nier left himself open to the Rockruff's attack. The rock dog's teeth bit into Nier, but Nier shook the wild pokemon off quickly and managed to flip himself away from his opponents.
The whole battle was subjectively a lot less intense when you're several feet taller than all the fighters, but nonetheless, Novis was focusing pretty hard. Even though Nier got out with a few scratches, all three of the wild pokemon were following through with their momentum, leaving them wide open to counterattack. Nier couldn't really do much against the other team, but since they were in close range anyway, Novis ordered for Nier to lunge back into the Rockruff and try to hit it with a counter-Bite.
Roxy's eyes widened as she realized that all three of their opponents were heading straight for Nier. They weren't even paying attention to Lucina or Zorex, which she supposed could be taken advantage of. It seemed like all three of them were trying for some sort of follow-up attack, leaving them wide open, considering they wouldn't see Lucina coming. "Okay, Lucina. Use Force Palm on the Larvitar!" The Riolu's right paw lit up with a bright blue, as she charged toward the Larvitar with as much momentum as she could draw. Leaping over Nier, Lucina aimed to send the Larvitar crashing back away from the Growlithe.
Seeing poor Neir take three attacks all at once made Aiden almost cringe, but given teh circumstances he handled them all very well/ Much like Roxy though he saw the window that was made in their rush of a single target and given that the Rockruff and Larvitar were occupied he elected to take this moment to help level the playing field, "Zorex! Use Sand Attack on the Drilbur!" While using sand on a ground type Pokemon may not harm him, nobody is immune to the blinding effects of getting it in your eyes to cloud your vision. Following Aiden's plan Zorex took in a deep breath and let out a strong puff of air that whipped up a torrent of sand, sending it straight for the Drilbur.
Rockruff felt confident as she sank her teeth into the Growlithe for a split second, only for her to be shaken off by Nier's movements. What she didn't count on, however, was how quickly the fire type would lunge back at her, causing her to stumble a bit before being hit. She yelped, starting to thrash in an attempt to make Nier loosen his grip on her. And, if she succeeded, would immediately charge at him in an attempt to tackle him into the cave's wall.
Meanwhile, during Larvitar's charge, a bright blue light was suddenly coming closer to his face, stopping him in his tracks as he soon realized there were other pokemon to fight a bit too late. Instead of attempting to bite down on the hand that was approaching, he instead attempted to move out of the way, hitting the walls of the cave in his panic and ultimately the force palm as well, causing him to fall to his knee's badly damaged and dazed. In a last ditch effort to cause havoc, the larvitar began to summon a sandstorm within the cave, causing dust debris and sand to envelop the area with blinding force.
As for Drilbur, he noticed a wave of sand coming at him, forcing him to instead attempt to block it with his claws instead of attacking. While he wasn't exactly blinded, his claws prevented him from seeing ahead as he was trying not to get sand in his eyes. It was a messy sight to behold.
Novis let out a whoop as he watched Nier successfully take a bite out of the Rockruff, the failed dodge working out into something at least. Unwilling to let himself get thrown away into a vulnerable position, Nier held onto Rockruff with everything he had as it wrestled around. Of course, he couldn't hold on forever, and eventually the Rockruff sent Nier rolling away to the side, but he quickly regained composure, just soon enough to see the rock dog's second charge.
Unfortunately, at the same time, a sudden tornado whipped up in the cramped cavespace. The winds themselves weren't anything to be worried about, but the sharp gusts threw around dirt and sand like nothing else. The particles of gravel stung at Novis' exposed skin, scratching up Nier as well. It was hard for both Pokemon and Trainer to see what was happening as the sudden sandstorm kicked into highgear, so Novis quickly threw on his pair of goggles and tried to see through the cloud.
"Nier! Dodge to your right!" Novis shouted out from behind his arm as he tried to shield his face from the grit. Nier was lost in the current of sand, but decided to trust in Nov's judgement and lunged to the side again. He ran into a wall, unfortunately, but the Rockruff's obscured charge missed as a result, crashing into the wall as well. Assuming the Rockruff was stunned by this collision, Novis foresaw another opening for his Growlithe "Follow the sound and go in for another Bite!" [done]
There was relief when Nier finally let go of her, a joy that was quickly replaced with blind anger at how she had been so rudely attacked. Following her own plan, she had begun to charge at the Growlithe, only for her friend's sandstorm to catch her off guard, causing her to not notice that Nier had moved out of the way, thus slamming with all her might into the cave's wall. She nearly stumbled backwards from the jolt of pain she recieved, only for another bite to come during her attempt at regaining her focus. She yelped once more, but this time didn't have the energy to try and fight back, slumping to the ground exhausted and beaten.
Roxy had to cover her eyes with her arms due to the rush of sand that was now blasting through the cave. She couldn't see what was going on anymore, which for a trainer was definitely not a good sign. Lucina felt panic come over her, as the sand scratched at her skin and forced her to cover her eyes as well. At that moment, Roxy had an idea. "Lucina! Use Force Palm!" The Riolu was confused, but obeyed her trainer, once again having her right paw glow a bright blue. At that moment she understood, as the glow let Roxy have at least a general idea of where her Pokemon was. Through the sand whipping in her ears, Roxy heard a yelp along the side of the cave.
It was hard to tell, but Roxy could have sworn she saw the Rockruff go down in defeat through the sand. She was close enough to see the poor thing, at least. For a moment, she pondered catching it; after all, it was fast enough to get the jump on Nier early on, and did enough damage to hold its own. That settles that, she thought, before calling out to Lucina. "Lucina! Head to your left, toward the Rockruff!" Lucina took advantage of the sandstorm hiding her from any potential attacks, and rushed to her left before nearly tripping over the collapsed Rockruff.
The glow of her Force Palm gave Roxy enough of a visual to where she could aim accurately. Reaching back into her bag and pulling out a Pokeball, she hoped to catch it on the first try. After all, Lucina was taking damage from the sandstorm each moment, and the Rockruff was too hurt to go anywhere soon. Cranking her arm back, Roxy threw the Pokeball toward the Rockruff, hitting it square on the head before drawing it inside. The ball shook once, twice, then three times before finally coming to a standstill. Roxy let out a victorious cheer, as it was her first actual capture of a wild Pokemon. She'd remember this moment for the rest of her life.
Aiden was ready for a good long fight and when the Larvitar tossed up a sandstorm in the very enclosed space that was the cave, he wasn't worried. Being said Zorex was used to the sand, unlike almost every body else in the cave. Regardless he knew that he'd have to take care of it and while he couldn't see what was going on he knew Zorex could. After all the sand was his element. "Zorex! Find the Larvitar and use Dragon Rage! For a moment Aiden waited for a result, but knew that he'd have to take more steps is this was going to work. "Everyone cover your ears!" He called out before listening to his own advice and ducking his head.
Zorex hearing the command took in a deep breath, sucking in some of the sand before melting it into a ball of blue fire that built up in his mouth, growing and surging out fit to burst until he released all the energy in one great shot, firing a blue ball of radiant rage down the tunnel of the cave directly for the Larvitar.
Larvitar, while battered and bruised, was doing his best to keep up the sandstorm that raged within the cave, listening to the cries of his friend which gave him more fuel to the fire. He felt this was probably the only smart thing he could do at the moment, but nothing could prepare his smug face for what would happen next. He hadn't seen the Gible before he had induced a sandstorm, but in the distance through the sand he could see a faint blue light, causing him to be curious as to what it was. It was approaching fast, so much so that Larvitar for a second was terrified as he felt impenetrable within his sandstorm, only to realize a move that he hadn't seen before was approaching at an alarming rate. He attempted to stop channeling the storm, but alas, it was too late, as in a flash he was enveloped in the blue fireball, knocking him away a fair distance and ultimately out of the fight for good, causing the storm to suddenly stop.
Meanwhile, Drilbur finally lowered his claws as the storm stopped, looking around to see that both of his friends were either gone or KOed. While it scared him slightly, he felt confident in his abilites to stop the remaining intruders, this time slamming one of his claws into the ground to send mud flying at Nier, while with his other he attempted to do the same towards the Gible. Perhaps he was a bit too confident in mud-slap, but he hoped it would at least buy him some time so that he could eventually retreat if that desire would come.
As the Rockruff was stunned by the head-on impact it had with the cave wall, Nier had the time to stumble through the storm until he could see the other dog. With his target locked, Nier launched forward and bit the Rockruff in the flank. This time, though, he didn't need to try to hold on, as that final attack sapped the last of its fighting spirit. The dog slumped to the ground, defeated, and Nier jumped back, so proud of himself that he ignored the slashing sandstorm. "Atta boy, Nier!" Novis called out, throwing a fist up. "Really showed 'em who's boss around here!"
As the two were celebrating their first victory, Novis suddenly h eard a shout from Roxy. He snapped his head to look, but he quickly realized it was of joy. Turning back to Nier, it took a moment before he saw through the sand that the Rockruff was no longer there, instead the glint of a Pokeball reflecting the light of the lamps. So she caught it? The thought hadn't even occured to Nov. He was so focused on winning the fight that he didn't even realize that these delinquent wild pokemon could be partners. It was as he considered this brand new possibility that he heard first Aiden shout something, then the explosion. Rock bits and another wave of dirt flew at the group of teens, only adding to the mess of things. However, the sandstorm soon dissapated, soon becoming apparent it was the Larvitar's doing. The blast from Aiden's Gible had sent the Larvitar barreling backwards and ultimately out for the count, however, leaving nothing maintaing the storm. That just left the Drillbur, who decided it was time for a desperation attack: Mud Slap.
Novis didn't want to say he was disappointed, mostly because at this point a direct hit would probably take out Nier, but it was pretty lame. Nier didn't even need a command to dodge the glob of mud thrown his way, but it was close enough that the Growlithe's coat still got grimed up. They were a distance away though, so instead of giving the Drillbur the opportunity to prepare a counter-attack, Novis ordered Nier to use Ember and hit it with flames from afar. [done]
Roxy was so caught up in her capture of the Rockruff that Aiden's shout actually made her jump in surprise. She turned to look at him just as a bright burst of blue flame went shooting toward the Larvitar. Roxy heeded his advice, covering her ears as the sound reminded her of an explosion. She was just glad that Lucina wasn't the one on the receiving end of Dragon Rage this time; the Larvitar was sent flying back, which definitely looked painful. The sandstorm had dissipated, allowing Roxy a clear view of the cave once again. It seemed that the only one of their assailants left standing was the Drillbur, who still seemed confident that he was going to drive them away. Well, they couldn't have that, right?
The Drillbur used Mud Slap-which Roxy found almost a bit sad-and directed it toward Nier. Then he sent another Mud Slap toward Zorex, which meant Lucina was in a very good position to attack. But she had to move fast, seeing as the Drillbur would likely try to attack her next. "Lucina, use Quick Attack!" Lucina's body became outlined in white as she sprinted toward Drillbur, moving at such a high speed that she was sure to hit the Drillbur before he had a chance to pull off another move. She hoped to slam into him and knock him backward, leaving him open for a follow-up attack from one of her friends.
Aiden watched once again as the sandstorm faded away, revealing that Zorex's Dragon Rage had struck true taking out the Larvitar and leaving only the Drillbur left. However before much else could be done the last wild Pokemon toss a large hunk of mud straight at Zorex and given that he'd released to much power in his last attack the mud struck home right in his face. Thankfully he managed to close his eyes and mouth first. Still it left him covered in mud that he had to blink away before shaking off the rest with some ease thanks to his slick scales.
Regardless of the mud, the fight was still on and as Lucina dashed ahead like a bolt of lightning Aiden knew that he could help in her attack, "Zorex use Sand Attack!" His intent being to splash the sand past Lucina to distract the Drillbur to better like Lucina strike true.
Zorex knew his plan and sensed his intent so once again taking in a deep breath he exhaled to launch a splashing cone of sand straight past Lucina aimed for the Drillbur.
With so much going on at once, it was becoming increasingly clear to Drilbur that he was outmatched and that his attack would do nothing. He watched as it only managed to get Nier dirty, and how Zorex wiped off the mud like it was nothing, both of whom sent back their own attacks in retaliation. As he put up one claw to take the burning sensation of ember coming his way, he failed to block the sand attack, causing him to inevitably cover his face once more in an attempt to wipe the sand away from his eyes. It was then that he felt the fire from ember hit his side, causing him to tense up from the sudden burn, only to be knocked down by the blind speed of the Riolu, but still he clung to fighting on. With all the remaining strength he could muster, he began to charge at the Riolu who had recently got in his way, hoping to scratch her as many times as he could if he managed to get close enough.
Now that it was three-verus-one, the battle was getting pretty pathetic pretty fast. Even if it could defend any individual attack, it was left wide-open for someone else's. There was just no winning this if its best move was blindly charging forward. All Nier did was look over at Novis, who was already fishing in his backpack. Pulling out a Pokeball, Novis hoped that they shown enough strength that the Drilbur wouldn't still try to fight back. The shot itself was a bit tricky though, as it was a moving target, but it was clearly headed for Lucina. After a moment of Nov trying to trig it out in his head, he ended up just kinda blindly throwing it in the general direction of the Drilbur-- he was a hatcher, not a catcher. It ended up richocheting off the side of the mole's head, but instead of bouncing away, the ball stopped in mid-air and suddenly a flash red enveloped the Drilbur. It disappeared a second later, and the pokeball harmlessly fell to the ground.
The following seconds were a pregnant silence. One, two ticks. The extreme determination on Novis's face was almost comical. Three. Click. Just like Roxy had, Nov let out a yell of sheer joy. It wasn't his first capture ever-- that honor belongs to a Lillipup back in Unova-- but it was his first one on this brand new adventure, and his second partner on the journey. Except, first they'd have to reconcile after that... bout.
Roxy watched wide eyes as all three of their Pokemon landed attacks on the Drillbur. She was almost...impressed by the fact that the little thing was still going after they'd each managed to hit him with something. He was about to give Lucina a mean series of scratches to the face, and she was about to yell "Counter!" before she saw Novis throw a Pokeball at the Drillbur; it'd be a great catch, if he managed it. Considering the Drillbur had a knack for fighting back, she wouldn't be surprised if it managed to break out of the Pokeball even after all this. She watched with anticipation as it shook, silence enveloping the cave. After the third shake, the ball stopped moving, a clear sign of a successful capture.
Novis gave a loud cheer, which made Roxy burst out laughing. "That. Was. Awesome!" She threw her arms into the air with the biggest smile that she'd ever had, which was saying something. "Guys, we are, like, awesome! That was so cool!" Roxy then turned to face Novis, her grin not wavering for a second. "Novis, congrats on the capture! And Aiden," she then turned to look at her other friend, "That Dragon Rage! Holy crap!"
Aiden smiled seeing the battle was won and thankfully he had an opportunity to catch his first wild Pokemon in the Chromis Region. Reaching into his bag he pulled out a Pokeball taking aim and tossing it down the hall at the unconscious Larvitar, striking true.
As the ball took in the Larvitar and began to rock, once, twice, thrice, and then it clicked, showing that he'd done it. Smiling once again he pumped his fist in success before hearing Roxy's words, "Thanks, but really you should be saying that to him!" He said in response.
Zorex was ready to receive her eyes and started jumping up and down in glee, happy that his effort was appreciated and that Roxy had some nice words for him. All while Aiden stepped away to retrieve the new Pokemon he now had on his team.
As the dust of battle settled and congratulations went all around, there was still one thing of interest... The bag the Larvitar had. It was near the wall, now covered in dirt and dust near the pokeball that Larvitar was in. A keen eye would see a faint glitter coming from underneath the dirt. What was inside the bag, one might ask? Well, several things really. The first, or well, several things were fire stones, 3 of them to be specific, warm to the touch too. And the other was the archaeologist Stephen's lunch, though it was probably ruined now. What would happen to these items? Well, it was up to the group to decide.
The two trainers elected to rest at one of the nearby food stalls, giving their pokemon a much needed break after their grueling battle. The one they decided to go to had a veranda overlooking the water, that's relaxing for everyone but especially so water pokemon, where Froakie can relax in the water should he decide to. After the long, hard fought win, they worked up an appetite, especially Talonite who had his food stolen from him prior to the earlier battle.
After ordering and receiving their food, Talonite immediately begin to dig into his food. However, as he was stuffing his face, he was interrupted with a thud as something crashed into him, causing him (and his food) to tumble over the Veranda's handrail and into the water below, with the last image he saw was that of a golden ball. When he managed to get his head out of the water, he caught the sight of a Sandshrew snickering at him, indicating he was the one responsible for Talonite's continued plight with food.
Not waiting around, the Sandshrew rolled into a ball and attempted to flee, crashing into others as he did so.
As Talonite was going through his ordeal with Sandshrew, York and Froakie went through their own. Well....Froakie did at least. As he reached for another bite of his meal, he soon found himself bound in a spider web as a Dewpider proceeded with eating the Froakie's food.
With the two Sylveons grabbing the attention of the Ursaring, with Danilo's Fletchling on support, the Eevees were forced to scatter to the dirt and thundershock as Lucy went after one of them, managing to corner it. She presented the Eevee a challenge, a race between her Elekid and the Eevee, though the Eevee would have none of it and immediately jumped and snatched the berry out of Lucy's hands. As it landed now in a better position to run, it turned and gave a victorious mischievous glare before sprinting off again. It seemed intent on meeting up with it's friends. It might be apparent that this was not the first time they were split up.
Meanwhile, Ven, Ruby and Dan dealing with the Ursaring found that it's power was overwhelming, even with all the moves lowering it's stats. Regardless, they managed to keep it's damage to the surrounding area to a minimum. There was now a small gathering of onlookers, though the Eevees from earlier seemed to be just scurrying about around the sides, it seems they were all headed back into the forest that the Ursaring had chased them out of earlier.
"So you seek to steal from a lord of darkness arachnid of water?", the Dewpider was visibly confused by this rather unique Froakie. Not just due to unique colouring, but also it's unique choice of speech towards it's fellow Pokemon. It was a face-off as tensions mounted and eyes locked in combat, and-
"Heeey that's a Dewpider", it was York. He had his Pokedex out, and was reading it's entry all this time.
"You come up on land to look for food right? There's plenty, here", he grabbed a bit of food off the table and placed it on a plate for the Dewpider. Ren turned back to the Dewpider,
"It appears my master has bequeathed upon you mercy in the form of sustenance".
"Good job out there, guys!" Novis said, flipping around to face the rest of his team as picked up the Pokeball he had just thrown, tired but happy. Though still a bit tentative about enlisting a Pokemon that had just jumped them, Nov was pretty excited to get another partner on the team, especially one that could help Nier a lot in a fight. "Three new members to our lil' caravan, huh? How about that for our first adventure."
"Think that was the leader of this whole Poke-rebellion? We should go talk to that scientist guy and see how it's going now." He was pretty ready to just turn heel and head back to the entrance of the site, but when he whistled for Nier to follow close behind, the dog just barked. Nov turned around to find him, and to his surprise, Nier was futitely trying to drag that bag the Larvitar had over to the rest of the team. Walking over to it, Nov picked up the rucksack and peered inside. Besides an unfortunately old lunch and some (for Nov) unidentifiable stones, a few stones stuck out in particular: a small cache of Fire Stones!
Nov walked back over to the group, Nier now following on Nov's heel, and showed everyone the contents of the bag. "Looks like those Pokemon were thieves too. Who do you think's this is?" He held out the three Fire Stones to the group, the red rocks emanating a weak heat. "It'd be hard to find the owner at this point, yeah? Well, with how common these things probably are 'round here... How about we just keep 'em?"
Morgana let out a heavy huff at Sage’s little ramble. She appreciated the concern, but it all seemed so tedious…type coverages and stuff. Bluh. It was important, sure. But what matter most in battles is training and pure instinct.
“Really, it’s no big deal. Worst case, Luft and I will just get some good practice in. Although really, ghosts are pretty widespread and versatile. More than you’d think. Death is everywhere.” She whispered the last one, unintentionally coming off as what most would consider “creepy.”
She watched Sage walk off to go sign up for the League. Taking out her maps from her bag, she briefly glanced over them in detail. Arsenic was to the east and was an island, so they needed to get there by boat. The nearest harbor was…in Brass Town. Which was a considerable walk away. Oh boy.
With Sage’s return, she didn’t wait a moment to bring attention to the issue at hand. “The only ferry to Arsenic Island is here.” She said, pointing to the mark on the map. “We are here, so we got quite a ways to go.
“The best route, is to go east from here through Route 9 and through the University and then to Brass Town. There is a place I want to check out before Brass Town, though. The Silumin Reserve should have some good Pokemon to check out.” She folded up the map and turned her gaze back to Sage.
Everyone joined the fight, Danilo was surprised when he saw Ruby aiming the attack on the Ursaring, but with the added sand attack from Ven it appeared as if less things were being broken. Danilo wasnt quite sure if his observation was true, but he was definitely sure that it had some effect on the eevee. As the eevee Francis pecked ignored the fletching and opted on trying to run away with his friends.
"Francis quick attack on her feet, try to trip her." He called out and saw his friend turning to do just that, the tail wind making his quick attack even faster. That was the moment Danilo opted to throw the pokeball, successfully hitting the eevee with the ball, wondering if the damage of a peck and a quick attack would be enough to keep the eevee in the ball. Yet there were lot of other trouble makers on the run, seeing Ruby was closer to the part the pokemon went for Danilo called out.
"Try to block their part."
With Danilo focusing on everything around him, he didnt focus enough on the rampaging pokemon. Which meant as well that he didnt notice when the Ursaring picked and throw a bench in an attempt to hit a retreating eevee. Danilo found himself kind of in the way. Some of the onlookers screamed duck and that was what saved Danilo from a possible head trauma. As he just in the last moment throw himself to the side and rolled out the way. He could feel the whirlwind pushing him in the back helping him be faster and avoid it.
Holding his metal staff tightly in hand he looked when the bench landed a cloud of dirt raised in the air. Wondering how much would that have hurt him if he didnt avoid it. A worried chip came from his side and Danilo noticed Francis staring at him wings flapping as fast as ever.
"My self is quite fine, sadly my hat has suffered the touch of dirt." Danilo pointed with his staff to where his top hat has rolled off. Standing up and dusting himself off, this time eyes quite glued towards the biggest pokemon around.
This was good. The group of four were finally back together. Hopefully they wouldn't get easily separated like that again. Since Chance seemed to have taken up the role as cook for tonight Sadie decided that she would play with her Pokemon while they waited for dinner to be ready. She released the Gulpin from its Pokeball and the small team spent the time having fun when Sadie heard Lusitania ask if anyone wanted to battle. Sadie would have offered but she wanted her Pokemon to get good rest for the morning. As soon as the light starts to show she plans on having a training session with Gigaton and Goopy. So, instead Sadie sat back and waited to see if anyone else accepted the challenge.
Talonite was unwrapping his second Kalos style hotdog of the day, getting ready to dig in to the food at his table. Necro was chowing down on some Pokefood nearby, and Talonite leaned in to take his first bite when disaster struck. A Meteor struck him and he was sent tumbling into the water along with his fold!
Talonite burst out of the water gasping for air and saw a Sandshrew snickering at him as it began to turn away. "Necro, Mean Look! Then chase it and Lick it!" Necro's floated towards the Sandslash at high speeds and hit it with a Mean Look to pin it in place. Even if it didn't work it continued flying towards the Sandslash with its tough hanging out its mouth in hopes of Licking it.
Roxy nodded and laughed at Aiden, turning her attention to Zorex with a grin. "Of course. You were great out there, little guy!" she said, giving the Gible a thumbs up. She then walked over to Lucina, who was standing over the Pokeball containing the Rockruff that would be joining their team. "And you were awesome, Lucy. I'm so proud of you!" Lucina gave a cheer, then winced a bit from all the scratches on her. Sandstorms definitely weren't her favorite. Roxy picked up her Pokeball and stared at it thoughtfully, before looking back at her Riolu. "We'll get you patched up soon," she said, brushing bits of dirt and sand off of her. "But in the meantime, I think I know what to name our new friend here. How does Aela sound?" Lucina smiled and nodded in response, before stretching her sore arms out.
"Good job out there, guys!" Roxy looked up at Novis as he spoke, standing up and placing the Pokeball in her pocket. She laughed a bit, pushing a bit of hair out of her face. She was also ready to head back to the excavation site, taking several steps to follow Novis before hearing Nier bark. As she turned to face him, she noticed the bag he was trying to carry, and walked toward him. Her eyes widened in surprise as Novis held up three red stones that she instantly recognized as Fire Stones. "Fire Stones! That's-oh man, what're we gonna do with them?' Roxy's archaeological fascination kicked in once again; it was still unknown just how evolutionary stones came to exist, so if they could also be found naturally on Chromis, then...well, that could be evidence for the Stones coming from outer space, seeing as they were scattered all over the world.
At Novis's suggestion to keep them, Roxy couldn't help but feel tempted to keep them as well. After all, they could use some type of reward, right? But if they were in that bag, they might belong to that archaeologist they met out front. Then again, he wouldn't miss them, right? Fire Stones could be expensive, and what if she caught a Pokemon that could evolve with a Fire Stone? "It's not like anyone'll notice...right?" she said, looking at Aiden.
"Is dinner ready?", Chance drew his attention back to Lusitania. He merely shrugged, he wasn't quite sure... it wouldn't hurt to check though. He'd hop off the hammock and head over to the cooking fire as he used the ladle to taste test the soup. "Hmmm... I think it's ready!". He went to fetch his bag which he left by the hammock, pulling out a few small bowls. He waited for the others to join him by the fire, pouring everyone some soup and handing them a bowl. With a few of his extra bowls he'd pour some for his pokemon, letting Feebas back out of its pokeball and setting the two bowls by his hammock. Before he left his two pokemon to enjoy their meal he grabbed a few cups so he could try the tea.
Chance would make sure everyone got some food and tea... the soup-- the taste was alright. Sorta like a chili-salsa hybrid soup, if that even makes sense. For a military ration-type meal its actually pretty tasty and flavorful though. Besides that the tea, tasted like tea, nuff said. Chance and his pokemon would enjoy the meal, honestly they've been starving all morning so this soup was a saving grace. "Would anyone like to have a small battle before we rest for the day." Uh- hm, that thought lingered longer than it should've. Blitzy was defenitly too exhuasted to battle, but- hmm... Feebas? She only knows one attacking move... its worth a shot I guess? You can only get better. "Uhm- sure... I guess? After everyone is finished with dinner." Chance would look around to see if anyone was done, fetching their empty- or full bowls if they were finished eating. Oh and the cups too.
"You know if you ever need help with dinner I could always...Chance? What happened to you?" Leo squinted his eyes to better observe the older boy's injuries. He looked like he had been mauled! He thought back to earlier that day and widened his eyes as if having a sudden epiphany. Did Chance need help with training his pokemon? He was all for training himself along with his pokemon, but not to the overboard extent of Chance. "Training with your pokemon is admirable and all, but you aren't supposed to train with them. You'll be dead before the week's over."
From the bruises covering his entire body, he could only assume that Chance made himself his Skitty's sparring partner to better help her train. As foolhardy as that sounded, he couldn't help but gain a tremendous amount of respect for the seemingly timid older boy. Assuming he wasn't completely off the mark, of course. He did find it strange that there was a suspicious lack of scratch marks on Chance. Surely the Skitty would have scratched him if they were training together?
"A battle? Mmm...alright. How about a multi battle after dinner?" Leo took off his bad and pulled out a decently sized container. Inside the container was a full batch of Leo's Homemade Pokemon Food™, made by Leo and occasionally for Leo. He took out three bowls from his bag and placed them onto the floor. He filled all three up with his signature dish and Nado plunged headfirst into his bowl. "Flabia? Time to eat." He gently poked at the Flabebe still resting on his head to wake it up. It yawned gently, briefly appearing drowsy, only for its expression to light up the second it caught a whiff of its meal. Leo stared blankly at Gira, who seemed far more reluctant to accept. Leo frowned at the pokemon disapprovingly. Eventually, it got uncomfortable to the point where it started eating just to get the boy to stop shooting him dirty looks. It seemed pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food.
"Oh, Nado?" Nado stopped eating to look up at its trainer. "You did good for today, but you'll need rest for tomorrow. Leave this match to Flabia, alright?"
The Gible looked nearly heartbroken at the request, but cried weakly to show its acceptance.
Location: Route 13, Excavation Site: Dig Site Cave
Aiden smiled as his fellows continued to cheer and roar with victory and even he couldn't help but join in, "Good job buddy!" He said to Zorex, holding his hand down for a low high that Zorex happily gave ten to, smacking down on his hadn with both of his own. Zorex then continued to bounce and parade around until Roxy spoke directly to him. Sitting still for just a little bit he heard her words and gave a leaping cheer when she was done, running up to her to give her leg a quick hug before running off with her to see to Lucina. When he was at her he was about to run up and hug her as well, but held back as Roxy made contact first. Still he was jsut patient and when Roxy stepped back he almost tackled Lucina in his little hug.
Aiden smiled and smirked at the sight, but couldn't help but think about the stones Novis found. Looking them over and hearing their thoughts on what should be done. And while he was already outnumbered he still had to say his peace, "I think we should give them back. We were already promised a reward, so maybe returning these to the scientists would help their work." While he knew it wasn't a popular opinion he just had to say it. Though even then he wasn't about to stop the majority, "It's your choice though. But we still need to go see him."
From there Aiden and Zorex led the way out of the caves, heading back out into the nature light of the sun to search for the archeologist that sent them underground in the first place. Spotting his mark he went back over to him in order to say, "Mission successful. Your caves are clear and you should be able to go back inside without any problems!" With his bit said and his report made he turned to Novis and made a subtle eye gesture. One only he could see to ask silently one last time, 'Do you wnat to give them back?'
Sage smirked, amused, as Morgana described hers and Luft's chances, which admittedly weren't terrible, he had to concede. Still, it didn't stop the young woman's "ooh, spooky" description from being more than a little funny. He was going to enjoy traveling together with her, he could tell. His lips quirked into a more genuine smile as he raised his hands mock-defensively.
"All right, all right. I'm sure you wouldn't be challenging the League unless you were confident in your capabilities." He hitched his bag over his shoulder, then nodded. [color=lightgreen]"Well, if that's all, then we should be off. If we're gonna be big, bad, Championship-winning Trainers, it'll pay to get started as soon as possible, yeah?" He headed toward the exit, his new partner in tow, on their way east.
Route 9
On the Road to Amalgam
Sage breathed deeply of the air around Route 9, already enamored with how easygoing the feel of the area was. His mouth watered at the smell of the food stalls, but he resisted for now; he wasn't hungry, so much as bored, and he had work to do, anyway. He checked the map again, taking note of the detours into more wild areas of the route. While he was eager to make his way to Arsenic and find a suitable Poison-type for challenging the Fairy Gym leader, it would do him no favors to ignore any opportunities to catch Pokemon here. He turned back to Morgana
"So... what do you think? I was gonna go off the beaten path for a while and try to catch a Pokemon or two. Care to join me?"
It didn’t take long for the two to arrive on Route 9. There were quite a number of folks at the park, with lots of food stalls and vendors around, taking advantage of the size of the goers. Morgana gazed around the area and saw most of the folks around were eating lunch, not doing much anything else. Boring.
“Yeah, sure.” She replied to Sage, a little absentmindedly. “To be honest I don’t think I’ll find anything that’ll interest me, and I was hoping for a battle to buff up Luft a little. But sure, we can go. Maybe we’ll find something interesting around here. Maybe.” Luft made a loud “fwoon” sound in agreement proceeded to latch onto Morgana. It was too early for spooks, but maybe she could get some battle experience yet.
Even with the attempt to emotionally damage the Ursaring with Berry's Disarming Voice, the rampaging bear Pokemon would continue its rampage, despite it seeming to destroy the surroundings less than earlier. Are the Pokemon Rangers here yet?, she would think to herself as her eyes scanned the area. No Pokemon Rangers yet. This seemed dangerous and how much longer would she be willing to let Berry be in a risky position?
Just as Ruby worried about the well being of her Sylveon, she heard someone shout, “where am I? Whats going on? WHY IS THERE AN URSARING RAGING ABOUT!?” A moment just to stare in judging silence at Ven who seemed as if he were dazing about the whole trip to here. The little girl smiled and was about to give a comment with toxic intent when the boy sent out his own Sylveon to help them out. "Don't be in a daze now Venny~! Better be careful, we're not playing around here."
"Try to block their part." Ruby's attention was turned towards the other teen when he presumably shouted over at her to block the escape routes of the mischievous Eevees. "All of you aren't getting away for the trouble you've caused~!" A wide smile with a creepy aura emanated from the short teen, her arms spread to block the pathway back to the forest. In addition to that, Ruby commanded to her partner, "Misty Terrain!"
It was an unusual move for her to use at a situation that didn't require protection from status ailment but, the mist that started to form from Berry grew. The mist became thicker and started climbing up, blocking the sight for anyone who dared attempt to enter the area. Whether or not the Eevees were intimidated by the thick mist or not, a gust of pink wind suddenly blew toward them from behind the mist.
Ruby's attention was mostly focused on the Eevees when at the corner of her sapphire eyes, the Ursaring made a sudden move. A bench thrown. In the direction of Danilo. Eyes widened from shock, she threw her arm forward and attempted to shout a command as fast as she could, "Again, Fairy Wi--!!" The command was too late, the bench was just about a few feet before hitting the unlucky boy. Covering both her eyes, Ruby could not help but scream.
CRASH. ......... 'I can't look...' The girl thought to herself as she trembled, afraid of the sight she would see if she uncovered her eyes. "My self is quite fine." Quickly moving her hands away from her eyes, Ruby could see that Danilo was in one piece and unharmed. A tear fell from the corner of her eye in relief before she shouted over, "Are you okay Danny? This is too dangerous, Ruby thinks we should retreat until the Pokemon Rangers arrive!" Stepping back away from the rampaging Pokemon, Ruby and Berry became more cautious and evidently shook in fear.
"You know if you ever need help with dinner I could always...Chance? What happened to you?" "Training with your pokemon is admirable and all, but you aren't supposed to train with them. You'll be dead before the week's over." By the time he asked the meal was already done, Chance and his pokemon had finished the meal pretty quick. Blitzy had already finished hers and leaped back onto the hammock, immediately falling asleep. Chance would listen to Leo, tilting his head a bit at the last part... not really understanding what he was referring to. "Uhhm... me and Blitzy-- and uhm..." Chance would look down at his still unnamed Feebas.
Feebas had managed to find a suitable way to "stand" on the ground. She'd hobble her way over to Chance, she didn't hate him- but nor did she really have any respect for him. Nonetheless the Feebas would slap her trainer's leg, even if their relationship at this point, was kinda neutral. "ow..." "Got attacked by a bunch of Spearows..." "I'm perfectly fine though!" He'd continue trying to reassure them that he was fine. "Ah-anyway. I guess Feebas could battle..."
Despite her 'plan' supposedly fail, Lucy remained in place grinning. She figured something would happen and that things wouldn't go that easily. We're talking about pokemon that been messing with an Ursaring and, despite being chased, kept up provoking it causing mayhem wherever they went. So of course they wouldn't simply just stop because of something like this, She likes a challenge anyways.
Turning towards Zap, "The game has officially started. The goal is to get the berry back! Whoever does, wins! Get Ready," Lucy and Zap grinned at each other as they readied themselves to go after the Eevees. "Get set.......GO!!!" At the same time, they both chased after the Eevee. Whether the Eevees were aware of it or wanted to or not, they were in a race that her and Zap intend to win. Soon they found themselves going back to the path in the forest that the police officers from before were blocking off.
"...."Why is it going back into the forest? What are they after? For all she knew it could possibly be the reason the Ursaring decided to chase them out for. Well, who knows for sure. The only way to know is if she keeps following them back to the source. With that, Lucy and Zap kept at following the Eevee.
As the two new friends walked through the food stalls and vendors they could see just at the end two younger boys, probably about fifteen cheering. Near them were two trainers who looked sad as they walked off. Must have been a battle. Sage and Morgana were walking by when one of the boys attention got pulled to the two.
He dramatically pointed at the trainers and said, "You two! Are y'all up for a double battle for the ages!" The other boy quickly joined in saying, "I bet we can squash you without even trying. Come on. I dare you." It was obvious how arrogant and cocky the two boys were when in reality they were just beginners who had started their journey today.
So, will the two level headed trainers accept the challenge by two loud obnoxious ones?
