"Pace myself... Don't miss breakfast... Get decent headphones... Got it, thanks!" Theo noted everything down on his phone and ended up lagging a bit behind Iron in the process. "Yeah, I was wondering what the violin music was. 'Nahla', you said? Does he use magic pertaining to music, or does he just like broadcasting his playing to everyone... on... campus..."

It was at this point that they entered through doors into the mess hall and Theo got a good look at what truly deserved being the academy's namesake. He had thought his uncle's dining room was large, this was gargantuan. Room enough for all students to eat, and food enough for there to be plenty of leftovers of all kinds. Sure, there were the traditional pancakes, waffles, bacon, eggs, oatmeal, cereal, donuts, bagels, fruit, but there were also foods Theo had only heard about in his studies, and some not even that.

"You can dine with me," the older student tossed back and headed to grab a table, to which Theo just responded with a, "Sure, thanks," before he found himself lost in the crowds. Luckily, though barely, he managed to catch sight of Iron placing his coat at one of the tables. The awed student allowed himself to be washed away with the crowds, towards the tables covered in food. Theo wasn't much for going out of his comfort zone when it came to food, but he decided that it might be nice to try at least one new thing every time he ate here, considering they had such a collection.

After he piled his plate with some such as fried ham, toast, and applesauce (he was pretty hungry, despite eating some before he came), he turned to some of the more obscure foods. A plate of pastries caught his eye, but other than a small paper sign next to it with "Bialies" written on it, he wasn't quite sure what they were. They looked like something similar to a flat-ish bagel, but the hole in the middle didn't go all the way through and was filled with some sort of fruit perhaps? Theo decided to take one, it looked tasty enough.

Returning to Iron's table, he placed his platter of food and coffee thermos (now refilled) on the table across from where Iron was sitting. "It's nice and warm in here. I wonder if they use magic or just a normal heating system?" Theo pondered aloud in an attempt at small talk as he removed his long coat and put it over the back of his seat. He then sat down and began to consume the food, which he found quite delicious. "My compliments to the chef, this is good!"

He ate in silence for a while, chomping his way through his plate until he reached the "bialy". He picked it up and stared at it for a brief second in thought before looking back over to Iron. "Hey, out of curiosity... Um, is it considered rude to ask others what type of magic they use?" Theo clumsily asked, still holding onto the pastry with one hand, "I've never really been a part of any communities with other people who have magic, so I don't know the right way to do things. Up until I applied here, I've never even met any other people who use magic other than my uncle, and I already know his magic."

He then took a big bite to slightly muffle the awkwardness of the question, only to make it even more so when his eyes suddenly widened in surprise and he began coughing into the fist that still held the bialy. It took a second for him to stop coughing enough to swallow it and place the rest back onto his place with a deep breath. "That wasn't fruit," Theo grimaced.

Shen Li Fang had not yet decided to make her way to her chambers, for she had the desire to feast. Of course she could have went to her future lodgings to simply drop off her luggage; however that would be a misstep. After all Shen Li Fang did not properly acquaint herself with the others who would be sharing a room with her. They needed to be observed before even a single belonging of hers was left there unintended. For those individuals were not clan-mates and lacked any of the Shen blood.

And as all of her brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins, and of course her parents would tell her; Shen can only truly trust a Shen. And a Shen that cannot be trusted by another Shen was no Shen at all.

With that in mind it made sense that the maiden Li Fang took her luggage, which still had certain parts of it squirming and hissing, with her to the mess hall. As she strolled through the line, Fang began to ponder upon which choice would be the easiest to take with her to a table and wouldn't be too much of a hassle.

Though while Shen Li planned for that to be the case, she found something she wanted enough that she would find a way to bring it there. Stopping in front of a heating tray, Li Fang picked up a bowl and opened the tray to reveal a simple gray mass of porridge. Grasping the ladle that was tucked away inside, she scooped it out and poured it into a bowl. Quickly procuring a spoon she dropped it in the bowl. Her mind was pondering on how to exactly get this bowl to her table as she stared at the porridge that was currently on it.

Quickly a thought dawned upon her as she got her luggage, which didn't have her sacrificial ingredients, and placed it flat upon the ground. She placed the bowl on her suitcase, before doing the same to the other suitcase. Bending a bit downwards Shen Li Fang began to push her suitcases to an empty table so she could place her bowl of porridge upon that table and then feast upon it.

Abi was a little late, fashionably so, if anyone asked. She had missed some of the ceremonies prior by sheer misfortune. The girl wandered about the corridors, trying to avoid the crowd of students as much as she could. Yet, she knew that all the happenings demanded a group of people-- so she chose to walk behind all of them to still get an idea of what's going on.

Her dress bounced, and so did her hair. She looked like a porcelain figure that could walk. One touch might just shatter her, so please take care. IF anyone ever did try to come close, she would try to deflect them away with the shaft of her umbrella. Lightly.

'clickclack clickclack clickclack' Her HeelysTM rolled her across the flooring. Years of using these wheeled shoes had made her a master of rolling around with ease in this oh-so familiar place. This school was Breakfast University of Magic for a reason, but magic didn't seem to interest her at the moment. She was much more looking forward to---

Abi's stomach grumbled, protesting for a meal. In her preparation hustle, and the corridor bustle, she'd forgotten to pack even some travel biscuits. The girl clutched her belly and slowly wheeled into the Mess Hall.

She didn't like the Mess Hall, simply because it's messy. Her routine was to get some food and go to her dorm room to eat in solitude. The influx of students made carrying the tray towards wherever she would stay a giant boon.

(Guess I'm going to be eating here.) Abi thought to herself as she un-wheeled her shoes and walked like a normal person towards the line. She got a tray and waited like everyone else. No complaint. When it was her turn, she took a few pieces of bread and jam, followed by some pepper sausages, moderately sprinkling some hot sauce at the side. Lastly, she took a pitcher of milk for herself and found the crowd that looked like they weren't going to be messy.

cue: @Rune_Alchemist @Natsu @Deadlyrose9641 @HeroicSociopath

"Hi~ Do you mind if I sit here?" Abi held her tray firmly with two hands. The milk was the main burden, as it was in a thick glass container. Still, she persists until given permission to sit down.

Abi breathed calmly, steadfast as she stood her ground. Not an inch of hesitation nor timidness.

She smiled at them, her best one for the day. "You guys had an empty seat so I thought nobody else was going to be here."

Curious, Sheepy was a summoner of sorts. And...had quite a few odd summons it seemed. She'd have to investigate later. For now though? There was Melody. Viola wasn't too impressed with Melody's abilities. In fact, she agreed with Alex's question about whether it was healthy. The answer? No, no it really wasn't. Now, if she was a nicer person Viola would have simply made a passing comment the same way Alex had. Unfortunately for Melody, Viola was far from a nice person who went about things delicately. She knew she didn't like this girl simply from her bubbly attitude...now though? She could say with certainty, she absolutely did not like this girl - and she was about to make that abundantly clear.

"Wow...what abhorrent abilities! Such a perversion of human nature. It's actually rather funny!" She giggled. "And you seem so calm with them! I have to question your motives and own sanity. Nothing more than an escape from reality with drugs. That's what you are." Her mouth turned upwards into a smug smirk, clearly not having any remorse for what she had to say. "Healthy not to live with negativity? I don't know about you, but Luna seems perfectly happy to me. If anything, I'd say she's quite well adjusted. It's far less healthy to be as unabashedly positive as you seem to be. Human beings are negative creatures by nature. If they don't learn to cope and just run from their problems...the more spectacular and entertaining their fall will be when it becomes too much to handle. She paused for a moment, picking up a Cinnamon roll and still giving Melody the most innocent and friendly smile she could make. "Mhm...I'd have to say you're my least favorite type of person."

"Hi~ Do you mind if I sit here?"

Of course, before she could say more on the matter it seemed there was another person who wanted to join their little soiree. Viola turned her head to the new voice, and was immediately taken with the new girls appearance. Seemed like they had a very similar fashion sense, at least! That was enough to get Viola's attention.

"You guys had an empty seat so I thought nobody else was going to be here."

"Ah? Of course, of course, I always have room for someone with such excellent taste in fashion." She giggled, turning to the new girl. "Viola Rifei. A pleasure, I'm sure. Do take a seat. Want a Cinnamon roll?" Curious - it was rare she met people with similar taste in clothing as she had.

As the young butler hummed to himself, his ears perked up as he noticed a sound coming from behind him. Hm, he thought most students would possibly be rushing to the cafeteria to dine.. ah, he guess there were a few exceptions to the rule, he supposed.

But even so, it was a pleasant exception as he slowly turned his head with a smile on his face towards the... oh! How funny, it was the girl from be... fore?

Blink and he would of missed it, but his unerring eye did not. The thick coat was stained with a red taint and the shorter woman was holding an arm up to her face. Klaus' eyes widened and his lower lip slightly slacked as the injured girl rushed forward in his general direction. As she drew closer, a part of his hand slipping off the trolley, with the other extended out towards the girl. Did she bang her face against some place on the train? T'was understandable at the speed it was heading, surely some people collided with each other...

... but even so, he couldn't leave her wounded, especially with such a mild bruising as that! It went against every fiber in his body his training.

"Pardon me Miss, bu-" Klaus didn't even have time to finish his sentence as the lady darted past him causing his eyes to widen further and his jaw to droop even lower, shocked at this whole turn of events as she didn't even bother to properly acknowledge him! Was she just nervous for help, or did she not want any?

... even so, she still needed some medical assistance, even if it was such a minute injury!

As he began trying to accelerate the sluggish trolley, she was already speeding along past the butler. Catching up to her would be difficult at this rate, though he did have a slight plan to remedy this downside.

Letting go of the trolley, Klaus walked forward a bit, keeping an eye on the piece of equipment as he kept his distance... and suddenly, it started rolling towards him, as if controlled by an apparition...

... but as it started rolling towards him, the trolley began accelerating. His arms swung rhythmically at his side, arms bent at a right angle as he began his pursuit. Of course, such a slovenly display of himself on his first day was downright embarrassing; it was as if all those years of training under his masters careful eye had been suddenly tossed out the window.

... or was it?

Regardless, his objective was clear and he was gaining some momentum on her. "Madam," he shouted out, letting out a small huff as he kept closing the distance, holding out one of his hands towards her. "You're injured, please stop running and let me take you to a nurse," Klaus spoke with bated breath, huffing between every few intervals.

Despite all that, he recalled he had a trolley accelerating at him thanks to his own beliefs... that would have to be dealt with quickly, otherwise they would both be heading to the nurses to treat their injuries. Deciding to end his little plan, Klaus focused for a bit as he ran, humming to himself as he ended his magnetic attraction... but that still heralded one problem.

It wasn't going to stop, especially after all that momentum.

Klaus dashed a little bit longer, making sure the trolley was at a safe stopping point before suddenly pivoting around and grasping at the speeding trolley. While it did put some pressure on his hands and caused his arms to bend, everything was mostly fine...

Well, mostly.

One of the cases managed to slip out and slam into his gut, knocking a bit of the wind out of him. He just needed a few seconds to recover, but in that time being he noticed something.

... she just went into one of the dorms... and he had passed it.

Scrambling a bit, Klaus retrieved the case, frowning as he readjusted his tie. Breaking into a light jog, he quickly made his way towards... the dorms he was staying in...

... huh, how... fateful?

The butler didn't waste any time entering the building as he swiftly, but delicately opened up the doors and dragged his trolley in with him... and he had no idea where the lady went.

Peachy.

So he had not only failed in caring for another, as per his butler duties, but he negligently rushed towards them in what he believe as sloppy. To make matters worse, Klaus had lost her as he began seeking her out and regretful music was playing out, reminding him that he was currently failing in his task, his duties.

As he looked around, he question a meager amount of students in the dorm if they had seen a tall lady that was a tad shorter than him. Usually he got statements over not knowing where they were, but seldom he managed to discover something and headed on that way.

Despite all this, he learned something about another student that he had never met. They all mentioned Nialla and his incessant music at this hour... but he could ponder on that later as he calmly rushed down the next hallway.

... eventually, it was futile. Klaus soon learned he was just running around in circles as he dejectedly shook his head in defeat. It was... frustrating to say the least. Around the same time he decided to stop trying to assist the bleeding woman was around the time that the music came to an end. It was a rather nice, but sad tune to say the least.

... hm, maybe he shouldn't feel so defeated about his work, after all, he has never been under such unique circumstances like these. Just like the mansion, he would need to learn. Klaus mused over these thoughts in his head as he slowly pushed the trolley towards his rooming.

Pressing a gloved finger to his lip, he tapped it for a bit as he passed by each room, murmuring to himself before raising a finger to the air and counting them all.

"9-B, 8-B," he murmured lowly to his self before moving his finger over to the next dorm and smiling just a tinge. "7-B... hm, looks like this is it," he muttered, properly standing upright as he raised a hand up to the door and lightly tapped on it.

"Pardon me if anyone is home, but I'm coming in," he announced in a calm and collected manner, smiling brightly at the inanimate object as he placed his hand around the knob.

And, well, he would of gone inside if it wasn't locked. Hm, well, that was understandable.

Producing a key from his pocket, Klaus lightly hummed to himself as he unlocked the door and pushed it open. Lightly setting the key back into his pocket, the young butler slowly pushed the door open. Peering inside the area, it was quite quaint from what he saw so far.

Continuing deeper into the room, the butler brought in his trolley first before letting the door lightly close back in place. Walking past the trolley, he noticed a lady in here, probably about a foot shorter than him from what he estimated.

"Ah, pardon me madam," he spoke up, walking forward before positioning himself in front of the trolley. Placing one arm on his chest and another square on his back, Klaus bowed down, smiling brightly as he did so. Coming back up, he looked down on the girl, speaking up softly to her.

"My name is Klaus Knuez; I'll be rooming here with you for the year," he paused for a few seconds, letting that sink in before moving on.

"Tis' a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mistress...?"

Luna looked uneasy as it seemed Viola was insulting Melody for a moment, "D-Do I really come off that negative? if so I'm rather sorry, I wouldn't say its negativity, just a lack of light. One must adhere to the shadows." she took a small bite from an apple. She didn't seem interested in any of the other food, maybe because she wasn't, but she maintained a steady pace on her apple, just one would probably be good for breakfast, but she considered snagging another for later, it was sorta all you could eat, so she didn't see any harm in that. "To answer your question, I'm fine, but thank you anyways melody." she looked at no one reacting to her voice for a moment, as she realized there was a new person among them, who was already talking, which over shadows the quiet tones of Luna's voice. She grew up alone, with people who had to listen to her, so she never developed a tendency to speak loudly, it would have been unnecessary at the manor, and her father would have hated it, not like she cared about his opinion anymore.

""H-Hi, I'm Luna..." she said quietly trying to introduce herself to the girl before she moved her head behind Viola, nervously avoiding eye contact, almost pathetically trying to hide herself. She couldn't understand why so many people where here, to many people it frightened her a bit, she wanted human interaction, but not this much this fast per say, She considered leaving and finding her room, it would be quieter there, she could listen to music. Wait! She thought, I have my headphones on already
She moved her hand and turned on her MP3 to a low volume, it didn't drowned out noise, just gave her something to focus on when she felt uneasy.

Melody gave a sigh at nobody accepting her offer, but withdrew her hand, and gave kind of a startled look at Viola, before cocking her head and saying, "I'm so sorry you feel that way about me, I'm sure we'll become great friends over time though!" Her unabashed positivity never failing to shine through her words, "But it's not an escape, I can get rid of it, not block it out. And I really do think it's best to live without negativity. It causes so much harm in the world! Tears, pain, suffering, death." She said shaking her head, sympathy pouring out of her voice, "Nobody should hurt like that. But you do have a right to live your life however you like" She conceded.

Melody then turned her head as a new person came to the table, and she waved at her, "Of course you can sit with us!" She said and saw the girl was struggling with her milk, and grabbed for it and placed it on the table, "I'm Melody, what's your name? What kind of magic do you use?" She asked, immediately bombarding the new girl with questions before finished off her glass of orange juice, her food about halfway finished. She smiled, before diving back into her breakfast.

Nina Goodman was feeling slightly irritated. The day started off normal enough, as things went through routine procedure and students made way for the Mess Hall. It went down from there when she made the mistake of delaying getting in line for the pancakes section; apparently, even with seven different stalls dedicated to the food, there was still one heck of a wait time - she'd been waiting for fifteen minutes, and was only now getting within view of the stall.

It was just as it was her turn to be served that suddenly the line began to shift, and people began bumping into each other. As irritated as she was, she began pushing back against the crowd, unmindful of what caused the sudden shift, even as a shadow fell over her.

After shoving the boy behind her back, her brief moment of satisfaction was abruptly cut short as she was shoved from the side, lost her balance, and crashed straight into a pillar.

"Hm?" That was strange. There weren't any pillars near this part of the Mess Hall.

From the ground, she looked up. And up. And up.

Staring back at her with red eyes was a face she had never, ever, in her wildest nightmares, imagined encountering from up close. With a rounded dark iron helmet and standing taller than any living human, was the infamous Death Knight.

He was notorious for brutalizing his hapless opponents in his duels, beating them as near to death as the wards would allow. It was said that he had shed so much blood that he still smelled of it wherever he went. From up close, Nina had no trouble believing that.

It was then she realized that she didn't bump into a pillar. Her eyes went wide and her mouth parted as the reality of the situation slowly sunk in.

Morholt took a step forward.

"HYYAA-AAAAAAH!"

The reaction was electric, her scream jolting the crowd around her into a frenzy. Students fled away from her with cries of their own, inciting further panic. A few more stout-hearted individuals stepped between her and Morholt, but their resolve quickly shattered as he reacted by growling at them. At the threatening sound, their knees shook and they took a step back in fear.

All except one.

"Tsk, have some class would you? Even a brute like you ought to know better than to threaten a woman so."

Standing tall and dressed in a pinstriped gray jacket and white undershirt, another face, equally infamous among the students of the university, stood seemingly unphased by the giant standing before him.

"Hrm," rumbled Morholt, taking a step forward. "Move."

"Hmmm . . . no, I don't think I will."

As tensions escalated between the two, a woman in the background with strawberry blonde curls observed them coolly.

Hilda was thankful for the long legs she had been blessed with, because even within her moment of panic she had still managed to catch sight of her dorm building in no time. Her pace increased, arm still held up to her bloody nose.

Then a familiar voice cried out 'Madam', and Hilda almost tripped over her large feet.

She suddenly felt so tempted to just turn around and face the boy, but now she was here outside her dorm building where she could find her room and clean herself up and actually look presentable on her first day at this school. This was not how things were supposed to go today, and Hilda had to fix things up.

Before she entered the building, Hilda turned her head slightly, just to see if her pursuer was still running after her. She was met with the sight of his accelerating luggage trolley crashing into his hands, and one of his cases slamming into his stomach. Hilda felt a pang of guilt in her own stomach; this sorry situation could have been avoided had she just turned her head, and now she felt the need to jump at the boy and ask if he was okay.

But first, it would have to be her dorm room. Students were beginning to stare.

What few students there were currently in the building right now, anyway. From what Hilda could tell from the dorm numbers she was running past, 6-B wasn't far away!

Her door was locked. Which, probably meant no one was in. Hilda had found some luck to spare.

With the turn of her key, Hilda's frantic movements relaxed, and she opened her door slowly. She searched for the lights in the near darkness, and once the the room had flickered to life, she dropped her suitcases and jacket and darted for the bathroom. Wherever that was.

Ah, how relieving it felt to wash all that dry blood off her face. For once Hilda welcomed the cold water onto her face and rapidly freezing hands, and once she had finished at the sink she began to ponder over her stained jacket by the door. She wasn't going to wear that to the mess hall, not at all. Perhaps a scarf and gloves would have to do in this morning's weather; Hilda didn't have any thicker coats in her luggage.

A grumbling in Hilda's stomach was a clear signal for some breakfast, and she acted upon it. She quickly pushed her suitcases into one of the bedrooms and laid her sheathed sword and spear over the bloodier sides of her coat, and took one of her cases to pull a pair of gloves and a scarf out of it. Wrapping it around her neck and tapping for the school map and dorm key in her trouser pocket, Hilda rushed out of 6-B.

She was beginning to shiver already.

It took Hilda a while to reach her initial destination, but now she was here at the mess hall, and now she could finally have something to eat. She was blasted with the aromas of hundreds of different countries, and was met with the sound of thousands of loud and bustling students. This building was huge and grand, and Hilda felt her stomach churn a bit at it's sheer size and the humans scuttling inside of it. Perhaps lining up to get breakfast would be an appropriate solution to that.

Minutes later she would break away from one of the queues, leaving for one of the tables with several plates of food on her overflowing tray; a plate with huge slabs of meat and eggs, one with a pile of croissants and potatoes, a bowl of porridge and an even bigger bowl of fruit and salad. Again, Hilda was getting a few odd looks, but this wasn't like the time she was rushing back to her dorm with a bloody nose. Now she was in a hall with thousands of other students, and a lot of people seemed to be watching. As anxious as Hilda felt at the thought of so many people just looking at her, she had a figure to maintain. No Gorman was without their extravagant breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Hilda eventually found refuge on one of the emptier tables, and dug into her breakfast.

What she didn't expect to hear when she had scooped all of her plates clean was a loud, piercing scream that seemed to shake the entire mess hall. Hilda jumped.

The girl looked up and gasped, seeing an armour-clad being in confrontation with a much, much smaller boy in gray.

"Ah? Of course, of course, I always have room for someone with such excellent taste in fashion."

Abi wasn't a stranger to compliments, if anything, the girl was used to hearing them. She smiled at the small gathering and took her seat with mute elegance.

That is, not before Melody offered to lift the jug from her. (Oh no no no!) She almost panicked but had enough reflex to adjust. The sudden weight off her tray had her almost toss her plates and utensils upwards, just by the moment of uneven force. Luckily, no food was flung for this moment-- at least not by Abi. (An ignoreable mistake; she.. didn't mean to.)

"Th--thank you for that, Melody." Abi was lucky to be introduced; it meant the two hadn't met before. Abi doesn't remember names pretty well. If they had met in the past, she wouldn't have known.

"The jug was getting heavy anyway.." Quick to rationalise good intention, she tried to contain the jug situation as if it didn't happen.

She now replies to Viola, who seemed to be a connoisseur for Victorian outfits. "You're only saying that cause we're dressed the same, aren't you?" Ever the straight-talker, she was. "--but if you really mean it, then Thank you. I also like how you mixed your brown ribbons with your black dress." Abi laughed coolly.

The other people on the table followed, no she nods to Luna and Alex. "It's always a pleasure getting to meet other people. My name is Abigail Beckett-- you may have heard of me.

Or not. Either way, let's have a good year together~"
Abi took a piece of bread and took a moderate bite, then poured herself a glass of water to wash down the treat. "I took this pitcher for myself, but you're free to have some if you like." Followed by taking the cinnamon roll that Viola offered previously.

She pulled her dainty handkerchief from her pocket: a contrast from her gothic attire. It was laced from all corners, a pink ribbon adorned on one side and embroidered in an equal pink above was A.B.Y., her initials.

Abigail coughed once. twice., as quietly as she could. Her drills would still bounce as her head jerked forward. Something must have caught the back of her throat just then, nothing to worry about.

She looked up after the small fit. "Terribly sorry for that.. you were saying?

My magic..?"
Her eyes lit up, remembering Melody's question.

"I'm an Alter Conjurer. Have you heard of us?" Abi liked telling this story. She drank some few gulps to wet her lips. "We make a projection of ourselves, like how you would a familiar-- except that projection is an extension of ourselves. Who we are, what we think of ourselves.

Kind of like an extension of your being."
She blinked curiously at the table. "Am I still making sense? I hope you understand the distinction." followed by a modest giggle.

That was when the brutish-- thing came through the arches of the mess hall. His stride was marked by a low tremor on the ground. His presence was known alright; the entire hall was looking at him.

"My my.. who could this be?" She spoke out loud, hoping for an answer. (I think I'll sit back and let this play out first..)

For now, she wanted to gauge this event. By the looks of it, the brute has all intention to thrash about; Abi didn't want to be anywhere near him when he does so.

When Alex heard Viola call Melody's powers a perversion of nature, he thought that was just how Viola complimented people. But no, it was pretty obvious she was just insulting her.

"That's a little harsh, don't you think...?" He asked her, as soft-spoken as ever. "But Luna does seem happy the way she is." He rested his chin on BoxDog. "There are people with clinical depression, though. They're not depressed for any reason. It's because of chemicals in their bod-" He stopped when he heard a clicking noise. It was the umistakeable sound of HeelysTM on a linoleum floor. There was a girl in a dress like Viola's wheeling towards the line. And soon enough, the girl was sitting at the table too.

"I'm Alex. Gothic lolita, right?" He said. Gigantic weeaboo that he was, he was familiar with that sort of fashion. When she described the nature of her magic, it definitely piqued his interest. "So...Your self-image?" He asked her. The last few words were drowned out by rumbling. The mess hall seemed to have become the locus for an earthquake. He stared, as if frozen, as the cause of it sent a girl flying. There was a goddamn troll in platemail in the school.

"D-does this happen often?" He asked Viola, eyes wide. He felt a little ill. What kind of school was he going to now?

Iron Atwood

With Theo taking Iron up on his offer Iron had to postpone his return to the world of mid-century jazz, although since having entered the dining hall the need for music had diminished as Nialla’s music was no longer audible. Whether the music mage had stopped or was just being drowned out by the din of the students in the hall was a mystery, either way was relief to Iron. As Theo sat down at the table Iron took that as his cue to begin eating. Iron’s typical breakfast at B.U.M., the breakfast that he had put together this morning, consisted of what most would call “classics”: biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, a glass of orange juice and a cup of coffee. He had, like most students, been enthralled by the sheer number of options his first year here but had eventually found himself back to what he was comfortable with.

As he started in on his breakfast Theo proceeded to ask the upperclassman more questions. Iron couldn’t blame the first year, having stumbled on a wealth of knowledge it was only the worst of mages that would pass up the opportunity to learn more. “I hadn’t really given any thought to the matter, but given that there is electricity on campus it would make sense. However if it had been enchanted upon construction to maintain warmth it wouldn’t have made too much sense to update it,” Iron contemplated. “You know that’s actually a good question,” despite the minutia of the heating Iron marked it as something that he was going to look into. Taking a sip of coffee Iron continued on “You asked about Nialla earlier, it’s magic. He’s a music mage. Playing to campus became a habit of his last year, some people have no consideration of others.”

The two sat in a silence only interrupted by the occasional clank of silverware on plates as they indulged themselves in their foods of choice. This silence was eventually interrupted by another question from Theo, “Hey, out of curiosity... Um, is it considered rude to ask others what type of magic they use? I've never really been a part of any communities with other people who have magic, so I don't know the right way to do things. Up until I applied here, I've never even met any other people who use magic other than my uncle, and I already know his magic."

Iron slightly chuckled at the question, “It’s really a case by case basis. Some people love discussing there magic others are more reserved or maybe embarrassed by their discipline. A good mundane comparison might be discussing someone’s weight, although most girls aren’t typically offended when asked about their magic.” Iron’s previous chuckle turned into a full blown laugh as Theo reacted to the taste of his pastry, having found himself victim to the pastry in his first year it was good humor to see the reaction of someone else who found themselves on the not so fruity end of a bialy. This laugh however was cut short by a girl’s scream from over near where the food was being served, turning in his seat it took Iron only a couple of seconds to locate the cause of the scream. Morholt. The Death Knight as he was called was making his first appearance of the year and had honestly slipped Iron’s mind until now.

Turning back to the underclassmen Iron cleared his throat, “You might want to add something to your notes, Morholt,” Iron gestured to the hulking figure before continuing. “You should probably steer clear of him, he’s not the friendliest face on campus.”

Kai examined the girl while she was talking, or at least trying to talk. "Slow down girl, you are talking too fast even for me, do you always talk this fast or only after slamming into someone?" Kai giggled.

"So if I understood well you have had dinner already and your name is Karen." Kai walked with the girl inside the room and took a seat in his bed.

"I'm Kai, this is my first year here in the school, and I think we'll be roommates. I think the rooms are shared by 3 people as we have 3 beds, probably the other one is still at the breakfast. Is this your first year too?"

While talking with the girl Kai leaned back into his bed, grabbing the pillow and hugging it while looking at the ceiling. "Do you know how classes work? My Master didn't want to tell me anything about this place, he said that it would spoil the surprise. I hope that we can use our magic a lot in different subjects. Do we have maths? I hate maths."

"Ignorant little thing." Viola replied with a disappointed sigh to herself. "Pain, death, and suffering are the harsh realities of life. Blocking it out is the same as averting your eyes to tragedy." But that was enough of that. She took a sip of tea as Abigail sat down with them. The new girl. Abigail Beckett, hm? Well, Viola couldn't say she had heard of her as she suggested she might. But then, she didn't exactly live with other people. A secluded manor in a forest beyond the reach of most non-magical humans - just as her mentor liked it, being the recluse she was. Still...her magic seemed particularly interesting.

Though, she didn't get much of a chance to elaborate before their conversation was interrupted by a scream.

"Ah...that, Abi, dear, is Morholt the 'Death Knight'." Viola replied, calmly sipping on some tea. "Quite a brute...has a tendency to brutalize his opponents during duels. Best not to get involved unless you want to have a bad time." Viola herself, seemed quite unfazed with the situation. If anything she was watching with rapt attention, as if interested to see what would happen. "Still...should be quite interesting to watch what happens, hm? Entertainment and breakfast...I suppose they do do certain things right here after all." She giggled with a playful smirk.

Melody flinched a bit when Abi's tray was disrupted, "Oh, sorry about that, I should've given you more warning." She apologized, before pushing the milk jug over to Abi. Melody listed to Abi talk, and nodded her head, "Yeah, I've read about Alter Conjuration in my studies." Melody said, "I'd love to meet your Alter sometime, the whole branch of magic sounds so interesting!" Melody bubbled. "I'm a practitioner of the Void myself, negative emotions being my specialty." She said, as Viola responded to Melody.

"Pain, death, and suffering are the harsh realities of life. Blocking it out is the same as averting your eyes to tragedy."

Melody sighed, and normally she would fight Viola to the metaphorical death on this issue, but her attention was quickly enraptured by a scream that permeated the room. Melody stood up, concerned by the noise, before seeing the cause. She rubbed the back of her head, "Oh, him. I've heard of him. It's really unfortunate he takes his anger and negativity out on other people." Melody shot Viola a quick, pointed look, before blinking as a realization dawned upon her. She could use this to make Viola see that what Melody did helped people! Melody rose from the table, and looked back at her friends, "I'll be back in a second, feel free to join me!" She said with a quick smile, before heading off to get closer to the pair about to do battle.

As she neared the two, she saw a few students with fearful faces, and realized she may be putting herself in danger in getting closer to the pair. She closed her eyes, and put up her positivity field, trying not only to quell any fear in the room, but to make sure she'd be at the top of her game if Morholt didn't appreciate her interference. As she did, she shivered at feeling The Death Knight's aura, finding it to be full of death and destruction, as the name would suggest. This was somebody she would need to try to help, even if he was terrifying and might try to hurt her for it. She got about 15 feet away from them and called out , "C'mon guys, break it up! The year's barely started, do you really need to do this?" She asked, trying to defuse the situation. She was ready to forcibly calm Morholt down if she had to, but she had to try to reason with him first.

Abi liked to watch people interact; there was some sort of delight just seeing them-- be themselves. If nobody knew any better, the only reason she talks is to make sure her actions are merited, or when she is spoken to.

She brings the milk to her lips and drinks slowly, her eyes darted from one person to the other in banter. (Interesting interesting people~) Perhaps she didn't want to say anything yet? Abi was about to have another bite of the slice of toast, that is until someone else introduced himself.

"I'm Alex. Gothic lolita, right?" He spoke with interest; Abi could tell that Alex was watching, almost studying how intricate her dress was. She loved the attention, slowly putting her glass down to answer..

"I take it you're a fellow fan of my fashion?" Alliteration intended, for that extra dash of literary litheness. Abi squinted briefly, a subtle smile present. "Yes. I am. Don't you think it matches well with my ability?"

"So...Your self-image?" --which was what he asked next. "Like.. how I see myself from the inside. The 'me' that I have kept hidden-- without the layers and the judgement."

Shade Alter, though-- was a fickle little thing. Abigail had learned to inspect herself, so the two beings almost weaved into harmony. A sight for later-- maybe soon.

"You would be surprised at the alters recorded in history." She added, to keep the conversation going. "It's not odd to see Alters of all shapes and sizes-- you could even see some that are of a different gender, and even animals." The true-self was sometimes interpreted as identity-- the perfect bridge between imagination and reality.

She closes that conversation, opting now to add to someone elses. This time, her almost-identical twin.

"Pain, death, and suffering are the harsh realities of life. Blocking it out is the same as averting your eyes to tragedy." She took this small window to get a few nibbles in and a gulp, refilling her glass of milk before answering.

"Viola is correct." Abi wanted to sound as firm-yet-comforting as possible, so she spoke with hints of sympathy. Her mother used to do this all the time. "Those are just realities we can't run from. Although--" Now she aimed at Viola, who seemed too harsh to word herself.

"We cannot come to the truth instantly, wouldn't you agree..?"

Abi spoke with certainty; truth was something she took seriously. Her ability centered around it, so she would know a few things.

The girl opened here mouth, intending to add more of her acquired 'wisdom', until Melody rushed towards the hulking Morholt.

"Speaking of death as a reality.." Abi rose from her seat, ready to head over to the rash pinkette and drag her away if needed.

"Ah...that, Abi, dear, is Morholt the 'Death Knight'."
"Oh. So he does have a name." Spoken under her breath.

Abi had another apostrophic chide, coincidentally speaking with Viola at the same time.
"--should be quite interesting to watch what happens, hm?"
"Should we do something now?" Abi knew the line as soon as it was laid down. Situations like these didn't end well.

(Hmm.. I see a Goliath, but where's David..?)

"C'mon guys, break it up! The year's barely started, do you really need to do this?"

"...God bless your soul, Melody." Once again, under her breath.

Melody was probably one of the single most useful mages when it came to diffusing an immediate conflict. Technicalities aside, her power was potent, and it would take some training to resist her ability, and even then it meant having the mental capacity to want to fight against her power - consider if the one target was only angry in the spur of the moment, with his aggression only skin deep; Melody wouldn't even have to touch him to end the fight. Even those with much deeper issues would still have difficulties - after all, without putting any deeper thought to it than the average man, who would want to hold on to that which pains them?

In any case, those are simply reasons that reinforce that, in the normal course of things, if there was a fight Melody wanted to stop, then the fight would stop. An equal testament to her own ability, and the sometimes self-destructive nature of man to seek happiness.

It was a shame then, that the two students in front of her were of the few ones that were naturally immune to her magic.

Francisco turned to Melody, no indication at all that he'd even felt Melody use her magic, even as those around him slowly lost their fright. The young man flashed her a picture perfect smile, complete with full dimples and bright pearly whites.

"My dear young lady, I suggest, for your own safety, that you not step any closer," he said in a charming voice that nonetheless carried a undercurrent of danger, though not one meant for her. "Sir Morholt here isn't much of a gentleman, and reasoning with him isn't quite possible."

The Death Knight, for his part, definitely felt Melody's magic, and his reaction to it was the same as towards every other time he'd felt a threat.

With a low growl, the gray-skinned giant dashed towards Melody, closing the gap between them in a single stride, and encasing the girl's head inside a single hand. His hand squeezed hard, fully intent on crushing her skull.

"Grah-!"

In another second, that same hand released her and was now pinned to the ground by an outstretched leg.

"Tsk tsk Morholt. Absolutely no manners at all."

With a roar, Morholt flipped Francisco off his arm. The young man flipped through the air, landing on a table of an unfortunate student who had just finished her meal. The plates and inedible leftovers scattered and spilled all over her unceremoniously, and Francisco could only shoot her an apologetic smile before he turned his attention back to his opponent, who was now pacing towards him with a menacing gait, Melody apparently forgotten.

Luna felt nervous all the sudden, but she tried to shirk it off. She continued to listen to her new friends share pleasantries, with the newest addition, Abi. She kept herself quiet as not to interrupt anyone, not to mention she felt more comfortable hiding in the conversation, just listening, observing. "D-Death Knight?" she said in response to Viola referring to him. She knew she didn't want to get close to him, he seemed like the kind of man her father would be proud to know. She watched as Melody got up, stupid bravery. She obscured herself, and followed. Meldoy had gone out of her way to be nice, so Luna wasn't gonna take any chances, and she knew she would be useless from far away.

"C'mon guys, break it up! The year's barely started, do you really need to do this"

Luna thought to herself, Oh No Melody, know isn't the time to be meddling, They must call him the Death Knight for a reason! She looked in horror as the large man touched her friend, but almost instantly the hand was removed, this was her chance, She revealed herself for a second, she placed her hand on the small of Melody's back, and Screamed in terror, "B-BANISHMENT!" before, Zip!

Luna found herself in a familiar place holding melody in her small arms, she was breathing heavily, a full banishment of two people was difficult, and holding her here for long would be even harder, the banishment zone of hers was simply a pocket dimension, it was pitch dark, yet strangely full vision, of the endless void of darkness. As if the endless hall was painted black, there was just nothing. She looked at Melody for a second, "I-I'm sorry, Are you ok, I know i shouldn't have banished you without permission, i was scared." She held melody tight for a moment, as a Psuedo-teddybear replacement.

Another student approached the quarreling pair - a girl this time, it seemed - and tried to ease the conflict between the two; how the girl would stand a chance against that muscular beast was beyond Hilda. But perhaps the student was not as frail as her physical appearance made her out to be. Either way, Hilda hoped, no, she prayed that the girl had some sort of powerful magic spell she could use to somehow break the fight up.

Hilda almost screamed when the colossal being reached out at the girl, grabbing her head in his giant hand.

Had it not been for the smaller boy in grey, Hilda knew that girl wouldn't have gotten out of this situation without extremely serious injury. With the much larger student's arm now pinned to the ground, Hilda felt some sense of relief. All they needed now was an actual teacher to put a stop to this unnecessary violence.

Then the boy was flung into the air, and Hilda let out a small shriek. Although her years of combat training had honed her reflexes enough to be able to immediately retreat from the table, they didn't seem fast enough to escape the flying plates of leftovers and the glass of milk she was about to drink. Her milk splashed all over her jeans and breadcrumbs stuck to her woolen jumper, and in that second all Hilda could say to herself was 'Why'. It was better than her own blood, at least.

But despite her clothes now being in an horribly filthy state, Hilda visually expressed much more concern for the boy that had just crashed into her table. As she outstretched an arm to help him he gave her a weary smile, before turning his head towards the giant that was now striding towards him. Hilda felt the ground shake after each step the thing took, and soon, she felt herself quavering in her combat boots. And it wasn't from the cold this time.

It was getting closer and closer, and Hilda was not in any position to think of a solution to this fight. She had no idea what to do. There was nothing she could do.

Six metres. One more step and she would be within his attacking range. Hilda drew in a sharp, frightened breath; in that moment, Hilda would have certainly sprinted in the opposite direction.

Instead, her battle instincts decided to kick in, and in an instant she found herself directly facing the colossal figure and standing as tall as she could to protect the boy in grey.

Hilda exhaled. Maybe there was a chance she would end up covered in her own blood. Again.

Viola simply watched the events unfold with a small smile, sipping on her tea as Melody went to 'diffuse' the situation. She elected not to respond to Abigails question. Truth was truth. She'd prefer the harsh reality, jumping right into something with either refreshing comfort or burning ire, but such was her own opinion and she had no desire to try and sway someone one way or another. She was far too interested in Meldody at the moment anyways. The bubbly girl wasn't understanding at all, was she? Ah well, it would be fun to watch regardless. It was a bit less fun when Luna decided to jump to Melody's rescue...but such was the way of things, heh. Perhaps the kitten liked her better. A shame, if so. There was absolutely nothing likable about Melody as far as Viola could see.

"Ah...and what would you do?" Viola replied to Abigail. "I certainly can't fight and unless you want to end up in the infirmary I would suggest you watch the fireworks and enjoy breakfast. Melody doesn't seem to need our help much either." Viola had finished the last of her food by now, and pushed her plate aside. "Although...I suppose I could help you a tiny bit if you pat me on the head and tell me I'm adorable. Might put me in just a good enough mood to feel like getting into trouble~" She gave Abigail an impish smirk with her request. While most of the poltergeists had moved to her dorm, and were cleaning up and preparing her room the way she liked, a few had of course, deigned to stay behind.

While they had almost zero direct combat ability, they could still affect the physical even if ever so slightly and not all that well. She could ask the few still lingering about to 'play' with Morholt and at least, throw him off his game a little.
