@RyuShura: Feel free to try again! Though remember, the antagonists are part of an organization that has a stated mission of eliminating Yeln relics and helping rebuild, why they're the antagonists will quickly become apparently in the RP. ^^;
Hm. No wonder I got confused. You kept saying 'bad guys' this entire time when refering to them, when they actually weren't supposed to be yet. Haha, okay. Got'cha.
Will be working on a more appropriate character soon. Might take some time though, again. It really isn't easy doing all these concepts. Somehow I'll make it though.
Yeah I agree, my character was kind of recycled from one of my older rp's and I didn't realy have that much time to polish it completely. I kinda just changed the back story and placed it there for the time being until I could look at it in some better light. But seeing as were more advanced than medieval stuffs I'll probably just make a new character entirely. Since I'm scraping the whole shtick I was wondering what all the races of the world were.
@Lunar: As of now, we have humans and beastkin. If you'd like to make a proposal for a race you'd like to see I'd be willing, but i'd prefer not to have them be too out there.
Dragons exist as well, but are unlisted(mostly due to fears of people swarming to be dragons) and already have someone aiming for one. ^^;
Well, since it looks like I'll have the time to do a character for this, I guess that I should ask which of the ideas I came up with should work better. I have one concept for the main team and one for the antagonists:
The first is an ex-saboteur/assassin that lost their purpose in life after the war ended. This one would likely be a younger member of an saboteur clan that didn't even had the chance to join the war before it ended, raised as a human-weapon but with no battle fight anymore, she would be either a vagabond or brigand by the time Chiyuri meets her. Possibly a "Robin Hood" type of character.
The second is a Princess from a small foreign nation that has been subjugated and effectively dissolved by the Empire in the past. I have two ideas that could work with this, one more based on Romania and another being more Eastern in aesthetic (my favorite between the two, if it can fit the setting). Regardless of the nature of the nation, said Princess would be working with Tinnec as an effort to try to rebuild her nation even though she's aware that's a nigh impossible task. Likely, she wouldn't hold any particular prejudice against the main party once they meet, being more of a tragic antagonist than an outright villain. At least the Oriental inspired version, the Romanian inspired one would be more shady, but not really villainous as well.
Either way, which of these would work better for the purposes of the RP?
@KoL: Hmmm... honestly, either one of those would work pretty well. The saboteur is exactly a kind of character I was hoping to get in this early on, but the princess seems like a really interesting idea too.
If I had to pick one I'd say the saboteur probably fits a little better? Mostly on account of, as much as I like the second idea too, a Princess becoming part of Tinnec's government organization makes slightly less sense.
Not that it's bad, it's just that it was hard to pick between the two. ^^;
I'll get working on a character later today. I'll go with the saboteur/assassin then, in case there's ever need for a backup character, I can give the other one a go.
Now, I have three ideas for a saboteur like character, so I guess that it's better to check how good each one is before I invest the time to do a proper CS.
1st, a very basic assassin type character almost as standard as possible.
2nd, a slightly more roguish type that also dabbles in ice magic.
3rd, effectively the first idea in robot-ninja flavor.
Appearance: Xochitl, or "Maria" as she took on to by known by those outside her home nation's borders, is a teenage girl that stands at a height of 5'8". This height among her people is considered to be "tall" by their standards, though not abnormal for a woman or a girl. Her body, definitely matured by this point, has a very curvy, lean frame that adds much to her sex appeal and attractiveness.
Her smooth, very light chocolate skin tone is very common among her people, an easy thing by which to determine her heritage and her nation of origin as well. She possesses a pair of strange, gold colored eyes that denote her as having been "touched by the gods" among the people of the K'in Empire, and she has gained a few odd looks for this in the past. Her shiny, medium length black hair is styled into a long braid that hangs halfway down her back at most, being secured with a gold band with intricate designs of an ouroboros (a snake eating its own tail) etched into it that goes around the band itself that is a symbol of the goddess that granted her magic.
As for her outfit, it is the one depicted in this picture (minus the headdress and of course adding a bikini-top like garment under her top ): https://i.imgur.com/kyG5BG6.jpg
Personality: Xochitl is a relaxed and intelligent sort of individual on the average, not being a "dumb native" or a "backwards primitive girl" that some have assumed her to be simply due to her nation of origin. Interested in the mysteries of the world and its various people, she is an avid learner with a certain level of curiosity at times when her interest is piqued. She is willing to go to illegal lengths to attain a goal she has in mind, should she feels the situation requires it. Though when it comes to killing, she is selective and prefers to use careful judgment in such situations.....of course, unless she is in the case where someone is trying to kill her. Able to be a merry sort of individual in her personality whilst performing, she can put on friendly airs and conversation at her leisure, though equally can be utterly cold to her enemies in most situations.
She is a proud member of her people even in her travels, though at this point in her life the urge to travel and learn is still strong within her. However, she also takes pride in her abilities to be sneaky and use magic, things that have been important parts of her life out in the world.
In her travels she has also taken on the additional name "Maria", to make it simpler for those who cannot pronounce her actual name.
Skills: She's a magic user of distinct skill for someone her age, though this is in good part due to her unique circumstances in regards to her magic and a certain deity of her people. This being noted, her skill with a knife and in general survival skills in the wild are nothing to look down at, which based on her nation of origin are not strange things for her to have.
She has some skills in dancing, albeit only with the dances of her people.
When it comes to magitech she is not as good as those of more advanced nations might be apt to understand it better, though is not alien to it due to being around it a lot in her travels thus far and learning a little about it thus far. Just don't have her try to pilot a magitech carriage or similar thing on the fly....or have her try to use a magitech weapon without some training beforehand for that matter.
She can also be very sneaky, a thing learned for survival as well as learned with what little time she was involved with the war against Yeln near its end.
Abilities:
-Unlike magic used with magitech weapons or by general mages outside of her home nation, Xochitl possesses what is called "divine magic" among her people. Simply put, she was granted this unique form of magic by one of the deities that her people continue to worship, which cannot be taught to others (but rather is passed on via bloodlines and through one's children). In her case, this magic deals with the deity who gave it to her, Mahina, a snake-goddess who presides over life, death, creation, destruction, and rebirth. In other words, a creator goddess among her people.
This magic is familiar to those who perform alchemy in the outside world, being called "transmutation" that is able to transform types of matter into others, though is handier and more versatile than alchemic transmutation. In Xochitl's case, it is enacted through making physical contact with something she wants to transmute, and then focusing on what she wants it to be transmuted into. This can be used to change one type of material into another, such as wood to metal, but also can be applied to just change the shape of thing (transmuting a tree branch into a wooden bow frame for instance).
Of course, spamming this magic in all aspects of her life is not advisable. While she possesses a notably large mana pool, it is actually the constant focus this magic requires when used that would drain her swiftly if used for everything in her life from combat to survival in the wild.
-In her travels, she has begun to learn other magic as well, mainly these basic things: locking/unlocking doors, firing a basic "magic missile" projectile, a basic few healing spell/first aid spells, and how to create floating lights to follow you and provide light instead of buying a lantern.
-She is adept with her knife in both survival uses or for close quarters combat, she is adept with it in both manners when it comes to knife use.
-She is also a very sneaky individual, a skill learned for and from wilderness survival and during her time spent in the last part of the war against the Yeln Empire.
Equipment:
-She carries a knife with a fine metal blade and a smooth, well-made, polished bone handle on it.
-She own a compass she acquired from a trader, which she was taught to use as well.
-A leather pouch on her waist that she uses to carry money, with her knife and other smaller objects like her compass sheathed or hung on the band of the belt itself for ease of access.
Brief History: Xochitl is a girl among the people of the K'in Empire, a thick, wild jungle nation scattered over many island off the southern coast of the continent. Among her people is a long tradition of magic and riding the seas in boats, though they are notably not just some backwards people in the current world. They do, however, respect their traditions, one of which is continuing the worship of their gods. It is through this worship the gods grant them magic, and those who gain magic in such a manner possess strange, gold eyes that denote having been "touched by the gods" as the people of the K'in Empire would call them.
Born into an upper-class family of priests and leaders, she was the youngest member of her family, though at the age of 4 was "touched" by the goddess Mahina and gained her signature magic from her. Though after this time, she began to feel an urge to...explore, to learn, to go out into the world and see how it was. This drive eventually drove her at the age of 15 to leave home on a trading ship and into the wider world, though one which was in the middle of a war. Taken in by a local town trying to fend off a siege, in their desperation she became a spy for them, and over time became part of a local spy network that watched over troops movement, did some sabotage to Yeln camps and supply trains, and gathered information to help those in the area who had combined into a rebel force.
Two and a half years later, the war ended, with her area seeing little to not action by the end of the war. In the aftermath, Xochitl allowed herself to adjust back to a more average life, returning to traveling and her quest to learn about and explore the world. Without her former spy work and its pay she was given for it, she took to dancing as a street performer in places. Being an exotic looking individual with a beautiful voice, she has easily found work in this...though....a sudden new offer given to her has put before her the chance to set out into the world for another adventure...
On a set of southern tropical islands all covered in thick jungle, and a seemingly nigh-untamable array of vivid, dangerous, and colorful wildlife that seems to hail from ages long past, there is a widespread nation based on the Aztecs/Mayans. Since olden times they have worshipped their olden deities in temples made of beautifully decorated and carved marble and stone, and have kept many an ancient tradition alive within their culture over the centuries. Festivals, traditional attire, and a long history of magic and old magic given to them by the gods in ancient time and passed on for many generations that are sewn within the culture of this nation, which has been ruled by the legendary "Sage Kings", said to have been granted great longevity by the magic of the gods in order to rule over their people and to protect them with all their wisdom and might, to learn and preserve the lands of their nation.
However, at the same time they are a people who have learned to adapt to a harsh world, to move forward with the world or to fall silent into the steamy jungle nights. As magitech has become a thing in other nations with the advancing of magic, so too have the people of this nation on their islands adopted this magitech in their own manner. Monstrous boats made of enchanted stone and iron that come alive and pursue invaders ceaselessly without having to need crews, eating ships and men alike who attempt to invade the thickly mist-coated seas filed with rocks and jagged shores for the unknowing to fall upon. New "chariots" introduced to them by foreigners that transport people and resources from place to place, pulled by enchanted golems or dinosaur-like reptilian beasts of burden. Stronger buildings made with metal supports of better make and firmly cut ancient stonestone, farms on great floating islands able to prosper more with magic techinques used to purify sea water into fresh water, and swift sailing vessels for transport, trade, and military action that are able to move from place to place over short or long distances with efficiency only masters of the sea could muster.
They are a nation that combines the old and the new. Ancient magic and culture, combined with newer techniques, magics, and certain technologies that increase the ease of their lives in this world. Using their resourcefulness, wisdom, and the unconquerable wilderness around them, the nation known as the "K'in Empire" ("K'in" means "sun" in the Mayan language) has survived and weathered many a storm, many a challenge, many a war...and so in this manner they continue on.
The nation is notable for their lucrative trade and wealth of gemstones, rather than of gold or silver, as well as possessing a notable navy for such a 'primitive looking bunch' as some of the more refined nations consider them. However, not many have wanted to venture into their lands to investigate everything about them, though an amount of these people have emerged from their islands to explore and live in the rest of the known world. From these people comes what little is known of their culture commonly outside of information gained from traders or explorers, or politicians and such who have visited their lands.
In regards to the war with Yeln, in the earliest days of the war the nation itself had some of its traders hired out by each side of the conflict for transport and a mercenaries. However, the K'in nation itself did not get directly involved in the conflict with its troops for most of the war, much to the ire of the rebelling nations, until Yeln turned on K'in despite possessing a trade agreement and peace deal with it. At this point naval raids and invasions on Yeln's coasts by the K'in navy became very common, leading to the seizure of an island in particular off of the coast of Yeln proper that is now owned by the K'in Empire.
Name: Evans Age: 1 year old (Mentally 20) Gender: Male Race: Robot Appearance:
Personality: Being made as a tool for his country Evans is highly loyal to his superiors, following everything they say to the letter like a loyal dog, much to their chagrin as he doesn't seem to be able to detect sarcasm or undertones very well. Evans lack of knowledge on social standards makes him be a direct person and blurt out whatever comes to his mind. His idea of fun consists of sparring and fighting having little interest in anything else, though he has recently become interested in reading all sorts of military history books. He is mostly apathetic to new people he meets and often has trouble remembering their faces and names if he feels they weren't very important. His perception of things can get a good case of tunnel vision once he starts fighting, ignoring his surroundings and the situation and just focusing on beating the person he considers his enemy.
Skills: Evans is a monster at close combat, relying on his raw strength and his inability to be tired to overpower his opponent to the point of exhaustion. He also has experience in using long-range weapons thanks to his programming but doesn't like to use them, as he prefers to be up close with his opponent. Besides that, he doesn't have much in abilities that an average soldier wouldn't have, as he was made to be part of a militia.
Abilities: Being made of metal has given him some resistance to melee weapons and punches, also giving him the ability to forgo food and water entirely, feel pain, bleed or rest, at the cost of making him too heavy to swim or stand on fragile material like ice or glass. While not having the ability to use mana, Evans compensates that with his tremendous strength, being capable of easily lifting stuff seven men would have trouble carrying and breaking steel and concrete with some effort.
Equipment: Evans weapon is a steel mace, heavier than most, to the point a grown adult would have trouble lifting it from the ground, something which Evans strength lets him do with ease.
Brief History: Evans life began at a military project, designed to make a mechanical force, one that was made to be extremely loyal to be tasked with matters dealing with preserving the peace on Tinnec and assist other countries. The project tried to push the current technology to the limit while balancing with not making the cost of making the robots too high. While the original plan was to have the first prototype in time for the war, the Arch-Lancer squad had already been deployed and destroyed the fortress. With the government putting more pressure on seeing results, the team managed to finally create the first of those soldiers. The robot abilities being shown to the government and they were clearly impressed by the technological achievement of a human-looking robot specialized for combat. Unfortunately, the costs of producing a sizable amount of them would be more trouble than its worth so they decided to indefinitely scrap the project, seizing their assets and cutting their funds. As for the working prototype, they initially thought of deactivating him and storing him in one of the vaults, but it was decided to better use his capabilities and assign him to their new organization. His name was created by taking the first letter of all the major investigators in the project, or at least that's what they told Evans when he was being assigned to his job.
• Name:Akatsuki. • Age:Unknown, believed to be around 17 years old. • Gender:Female. • Race:Automaton. • Appearance:"I am at your service, my liege." • Personality:One would think that a being made of steel and magic would have no emotions or semblance of humanity. Those who do so are probably going to be very surprised with how humane Akatsuki can be at times. A sheltered existence made her social skills become all weird but she's ultimately a good person, better than most flesh and blood humans, in fact.
Akatsuki's stoic exterior may make her seem to be an aloof being, however, she does have a big soft spot for cute things, especially children, and animals. Being a machine causes her to have certain hardship to comprehend certain concepts which can lead to Akatsuki being easily swindled by, for example, a merchant that selling food at a price far too above the correct one.
The one thing that's certain is that, once she swears service to a lord or cause, she'll devote her full existence to it. Until her duty/contract is done, or she's dismissed. Such devotion can get to self destructive levels sometimes. If she's not stopped, Akatsuki would do anything anything for her current master, up to and including, giving up her own life for their safety. For her master, Akatsuki would even endure being treated as a lifeless machine —or doll, to be abused— despite the fact of how much she hates it when people treat her as if she's an inhuman monster. • Skills:As skilled a saboteur, Akatsuki is trained in all manner of covert operations, including, spying, encryption/decryption, infiltration, demolition, assassination, psychological warfare, etc. Almost no tactics are too low for her, including the usage of explosives, poison, hidden weapons as well as martial arts. She also has exceptional stealth and sensorial skills, both from her training and nature as an artificial human. Lastly, but not least, she also has survival and tracking training despite not having any biological needs, given that those skills are also basic for any saboteur. Oh, and she's also quite good at taking care of children, especially reading stories for them... • Abilities:Akatsuki is much stronger, durable and faster than a normal human. She's also immune to any manner of disease, poison, doesn't need to breath. However she still needs rest to recharge her spent energy. Moreover, she's able to eat human food and convert it power, but she needs a lot of food —especially sweets— to make up for a proper recharge or her magical energy. Seeing Akatsuki gobbling down food is almost as easy as seeing her with a blade between her fingers. Make of that what you will...
However, Akatsuki's greatest ability is her unique power to control magnetism. She generally utilizes it to create all sorts of weapons made of iron-sand that she carries around in her body. Even if her own iron-sand supply is emptied, she can simply draw more from the ground around her as long as it has enough concentrations of it. This is especially useful in riversides and beaches, which are places naturally packed with iron-sand. This ability is the reason why Akatsuki was known as the Living Forge, Rust Killer, Black Iron Princess, among other names during the Yeln War. • Equipment:Despite being able to provide almost any manner of gear she may need on the fly, Akatsuki owns —and cherishes— a short, exotic-looking sword that's the last memento she has of her father. It has her clan's motto "Evil swiftly cut" engraved on its hilt. She also used to own a bejeweled hairpin, another present from her father so that she doesn't forget that she's girl, not a machine, but it was lost long ago. Akatsuki would give almost anything to recover it. • Brief History:It's unknown when, how, or by who Akatsuki was built. Being an automaton with specs and abilities far above most of her kind, to the point that she's hard to analyze even for the most proficient machinists, theories about her origins abound. In all likelihood, Akatsuki is a relic of the Yeln Empire and their insanely advanced technomancy, however, there're few ways to prove that theory.
She has occasional flashes, or "dreams", of dark laboratory/workshop as well as shadowy figure that Akatsuki thinks is her creator, or her father, as she likes to think about it. However, none of them are conclusive, leaving her with more questions than answers.
Akatsuki's earliest conscious memory is the day when she joined, or better was taken under the wing of the leader of a Laakian saboteur clan. She was treated as a daughter by the seasoned assassin as well as the rest of the clan, allowing Akatsuki to grow as an individual, despite the extremely sheltered life of saboteurs. The only thing they knew about her is that Akatsuki was "recovered" from a supply convoy belonging to Yeln Empire, they were fully prepared to destroy her before the clan's leader —who had recently lost all of his direct family— decided to take her in.
For years, Akatsuki fought beside her new family, seeing most of them perish thanks to the hardships of their living. One day, when the war was almost over, the remnants of her clan were sent to a mission that turned out to be a trap set by a Yeln spy within the Allied Forces ranks. Needless to say, they were decimated by Yeln Airships. Akatsuki only escaped because her father pushed her off a cliff.
Once again, she didn't know how long she spent unconscious, but Akatsuki's next memory is of being awakened by a machinist and being forced to join a city gang out of gratitude by their boss. Despite the fact that she hates this job, or the way he treats her as if she's less than trash, Akatsuki, is forced to obey him by her saboteur vows.
Maybe fate has something else in stock for her, who knows? One can only hope... • Theme Song:
I Left quite a bit of room for her to be used in the story both early on and later. I hope it's ok with you, @VitaVitaAR.
