Jideh Basrah

Jideh raised an eyebrow at her response. She seemed to just be going along with whatever he said, which might get annoying if she took it too far. He took in a deep breath, seeing the radiant disc touch the horizon, setting the sky on fire. His stomach grumbled.

"Do want to grab a bite to eat? Call it a date? You seem intent on interviewing me, and I'm not going to be so rude as to deny you that opportunity. This reader of anything interesting, regardless of genre, whose sister constantly teases him, and is apparently referred to by the ladies as 'The Flora Guy' has a hankering for some delicious food. I've been down to the village a couple times, and they have some cheap restaurants that are worth a try."

Jideh got up and shut the window, nursed a little more energy into the lily, as encouragement, and threw his jacket on. At the very least, this girl might be worth his company, and inside, he was blown away by his audacity. But some sort of cool composure, brought on by that naked beauty of the sunset, just stuck with him. Maybe it was the boldness that came with knowings things ended. Jideh had no clue. As he pocketed his keys to the dorm, shuffled his shoes on, and cracked his knuckles, Jideh turned to Amelia and tried on a smile. It came easily. He found himself holding in a bubbling sort of laughter. He'd enjoy himself this evening, and he hoped Emily would too. Wait.. Was it Emily or...?

Zeke wasn't sure why he ended up on the floor. Walking back the steps, he fidgeted with his camera while he tried to figure out whether it was worth being upset about. He'd walked into walls before when he was thinking too much, but this didn't feel like a wall. He had been walking along, thinking about stars, when someone had walked into him. He looked down to see a pile of white and blue clothes with a person in trying to sink into the floor like a puddle, and a black horned hoodie person holding out a hand. She had blue eyes, but not Viola-blue eyes, and a different colour hair. And spikes on her hoodie.

He stood up, ignoring the hand by simply not seeing it, and started poking at the horns. "These are funny," He said, more to himself than the girl inside the hoodie. "Poke, poke," He said, and giggled. Then he remembered that she'd said something. Zeke looked at the rest of the person, tilting his head to try and recognise something. He didn't, but did that mean he wasn't supposed to or that he had forgotten? If he had forgotten, was he supposed to remember? He thought the teacher had explained. But which teacher? He stepped back, retreating away, a pang of concern hitting him. "Um..."

He wanted Viola here. Or Braids. Or Yellow. Or even Icy, even if she was attached to her Seat a lot. Just someone to help him remember if this person was someone he was supposed to remember, or someone he had seen before in different clothes, or... He wrapped his arms around himself, then took a deep breath to stop the panic. "I'm sorry if I don't remember you when I should because I have face blindness and I don't remember people unless they have something else I can remember," He recited hurriedly, his eyes closed like he was expecting to be hit or yelled at, which felt the same minus bruises.

Alex held back a wince at Chaska's comment about the root. Alex had always been...less then graceful. Okay, he was down right clumsy sometimes. But he couldn't help it, his mind always seemed to be concentrating on something else that he considered more important and looking where you were going took away from his over thinking of everything.

"What is clouding your sight?"

This made Alex stop for moment. What was clouding his sight? It was such a simple question but the answer was far from simple. His father, his complete lack of confidence, his desire to be something his mother would be proud of, his frustration at what he felt was a lack progress, or at least his progress was far slower than he wanted it to be. This was all very likely more of an answer then Chaska wanted though. Oh no...how long had he been sitting there without saying anything? How awkward had he made the situation by not saying anything yet?!

"Ehh, er...Just a lot on my mind I guess. I'm not great at looking where I'm going." He said sitting up, wiping some of the dirt off of his face. Then came the comment from Bhu. Dang, just how many people had watched him face plant? Was anyone else going to come out of the wood works? He wondered how big of a fool he was going to make of himself today. Still, at least Bhu was smiling at him. He could tell she was just kidding around. Chaska seemed so...serious.

"I'm not clumsy, I'm...coordination challenged?" He said with a small nervous chuckle. That was probably the closest he had come to making a joke with Bhu. The two had some science classes together and Alex actually kind of considered Bhu something like a friend, in his own weird way. He wasn't sure exactly what she thought of him though, so he had a tendency to leave her alone.

Chaska was also in some of his classes, though he didn't know him very well. He certainly seemed like a good enough person though. Wait...did he know them both from the same class.. Damn he really needed to pay better attention to the people around him. Maybe his obliviousness was part of his problem?

It was at this point he looked up and noticed a deadpan faced woman waving at him. He could literally feel his face reddening this time. Three people, at least three people had seen him face plant. This wasn't his lucky day. He hadn't garnished this much attention in three months how was it that all of these people had to be here right when his feet decided to make a fool out of him.

Nervously, he waved back a little, watching as she approached. She was a teacher right? He knew he had seen her around, hell she probably taught one of his classes and he was just too unobservant to remember. Her face never seemed to change expressions. For most people it probably would have been unnerving but at this point Alex was too embarrassed to be unnerved any further. She handed him a note, which Alex took with a moment of apprehension. Was he in trouble? Had he tripped over some sacred root and they were kicking him out of the academy for it?!

'Are you okay.'

Alex fought the urge to slap himself. Sacred root, really? Was he losing his mind? He was smarter then that. Why was he letting his anxiety get the better of him today?

"Yes ma'am, I'm alright." He said softly, finally standing up. He smiled a little but it came out crooked somehow.

Here she was, just trying to sink into the floor like a puddle of adorability and someone was bothering her. Who in their right minds would disturb a little girls slumber? Probably some sort of pervert, that's who. That pervert was lucky she was too lazy to try do anything or they'd find themselves with worse than a small bit of frostbite. Wait...pizza? Someone mentioned free pizza. She was pretty sure the one stepping on her said something about free pizza. Actually, wait, she recognized that voice. In fact, after about three pokes she was pretty sure she was intimately familiar with the foot poking her head. How does one become intimately familiar with a persons feet? Well, use your imagination.

Leanne!

...one of the few people she'd say she actually liked. Leanne was nice to her, and she certainly didn't particularly mind the current situation a bit. Still though, free pizza meant she'd be sitting up for now.

"I know you have a thing for stepping on people, Leanne," After a few seconds made an effort to sit up as she replied to her friend. "and I'm adorable and all, buuuut try to contain yourself in public, hmm?" The giggle that followed was drowned out by a loud yawn as she stretched her arms tiredly in her usual fashion. Still, she didn't make an effort to stand and merely looked at the person who she had run into with her usual sleepy, somewhat deadpan stare.

...

Who was he? She felt like she had seen him in art class a few times, but she wasn't sure. But then, she paid very little attention to other people and what they were doing most of the time.

"..."

Empty, scattered and broken all over the floor like the hopes and dreams of someone with an arts degree. Oh well. She reached into the frills of her dress and fumbled around for a few seconds before pulling out a bag of cookies and opening them as he spoke to Leanne. Face blindness? What sort of silliness was that? She was the laziest thing on the planet and at least she could remember faces as long as she bothered to actually commit them to memory. She supposed she shouldn't judge, but she couldn't not mess with him a little, even if he seemed a little timid.

"Hmm..." She walked towards him, getting so close that her face was mere inches from his. Well, as close as someone as short as her could get her face to his as she had to look up at him. "...Hey hey. You owe me a bag of chips."

Never in my life have I felt so small except when watching my Ma and Pa perform in one of their concerts. Now here I am, standing in front of a dormitory inside the campus of a very majestic, castle-like academy. I may look calm on the outside, but in the inside multiple tiny Freyas are running around in my mind, screaming in terror and crying in despair. A whole flock of butterflies is flying inside my tummy and I really, really have to use the restroom right now.

You may think I'm overboard, 'cause I am. The whole world may know our family as prim and proper, the definition of elegance and sophistication. Little did they know that Ma proudly farts in front of her own children, Pa wears clothes mismatched so hard you may think he's a hobo, Frey always wrestles with our golden retriever Beyonce in mud puddles, and yours truly nearly spends all of her life practicing, along with singing and composing, how to twerk (I still have a long way to go but I'm getting there). Yes, I know it's a lot far from what people's first impressions of me are; you can just imagine the shock and horror on my friend's faces when they knew the real me (thank goodness they didn't run away).

We never ever show this side of our family to the public not because it might destroy our "sophisticated" reputation, but because my parents felt they've shared their whole life to the world that we deserve to keep this part of ourselves only to ourselves. Of course, I still tone down my hyper personality whenever I'm outside so I can respect my parents' wish. I also loved them more because of it. It just means that despite all their success and fame, they still make family their number one priority, which I am greatly thankful for.

Geez, one minute in the new place and I'm already thinking about home. I took some deep breathes and walked through the doors along with my bag. I guess one more "geez" is appropriate because I am completely shook about the beauty of the lobby. The. Lobby. Just standing in the lobby made me feel like I'm under-dressed for this academy. There's also a couple of people my age milling around. Are they students here too? If so, may the gods help me in socializing with my peers as my brain is currently short-circuiting from everything that has happened to me so far this day. I decided to make a beeline for one of the attendants at the counter so I can find my assigned room and calm my freaking nerves out.

Dia & Felix

@Zelosse

Three months had passed since the incident in the gym, and one could say that Dia had been keeping Felix on a tight leash. She had forcefully moved into his dorm before he could protest, though she hated leaving Emi. The girl had been incredibly sweet...

But since then she made she he stayed clean, healed up, and got new clothes. And more than one set of clothes.

They'd been doing classes, per her demands, and were progressing... Well? Dia still had little control, her emotions seemingly controlling her power over her will, though she had progressed to controlling the direction the outbursts of her ability as she wished. No more fountain incidents... So far.

So it was that morning that she rolled over and lightly pushed on Felix to wake him.

"Morning..." she said groggily. "Breakfast?" she added in a mumble.

Amelia Lycrosse

"Oh, God, food sounds so good," Amelia muttered as she grabbed her coat in a similar fashion to Jideh "And it's not that I'm interviewing you, I just want to get to know the person who has access to all of my stuff." She turned around and locked their suite door behind her. "It just seemed like the polite thing to do. I personally love steampunk, regarding book genres. Have you read Percy Jackson?" Amelia smiled up at the male.

"What kind of food place are you taking me to? Anything you'd like sounds good, honestly, because I'm so hungry. You must be hungry too, from feeding that plant all the time. You look like I do when I overuse my powers and just need food." Her stomach growled. Amelia giggled a bit. "That was a beautiful sunset, wasn't it? My brother would have loved it. He would have already run off to paint it." She laughed. "Do you have any siblings other than your sister? What's she like? My oldest brother is five years older than me, and my second oldest brother is older by two minutes and forty-five seconds, but he acts like he's two years older." Amelia smiled. "Does your sister act like that? Oh, and don't worry.
Most girls I've met call you 'Jideh' or 'that stupidly cute boy'. I'm the only one who calls you the 'Flora Guy'."

Felix growled, not threatening but more of a mild agitation, as he was slowly being coaxed out of precious slumber. Granted this was nothing new between then as the well intentioned lass came to realize her boyfriend had problems with waking up in the mornings; you could almost say he had trouble rising.

"Death before homework!" He grumbled numbly, raising his arm in a salute to defiance.
Before Dia, bless her heart, gave him a little shove. There was a smile on his face as he fell to the carpeted floor with a dull thump, one leg still on the bed while both arms flailed.

Clad in his boxers and a thin shirt, he was a sorry sight. Both eyes barely open to stare at Dia.

"Fiiiine."

He sighed sarcastically, mustering the courage to stand. Felix had always been a light sleeper, the last few years had given him mild trauma about his father storming into the room, but three months at the school had done a fair bit in helping ease his problems.
Regular exercise and a proper diet had put him in excellent shape, with regular spars with the gym teacher giving the young man more control over his usually volatile moods.

But they paled in comparison to the girl wrapped up tight in his arms day after day. After his episode in the gym months ago that had ended in an unfortunate loss and a fair share of bruises, that sweet girl had turned to a demon in her own right.
Felix was stubborn beyond belief, refused to eat, to shop, just about anything really, when he first arrived at the academy but Dia was like an Avalanche. Equally stubborn and possessing feminine charms the simple young men like Felix didnt quite understamd yet, she'd persosted with her requests until he finally gave in. Incapable of saying no to someone who worled harder than just about anyone else had to make sure he didn't let himself live like a fool.

There had been a few student over the last two months that pointed out the couple woth mockery, taunting Felix for being on a leash lile a common dog, and instead of breaking their noses.. he just laughed.

There was no collar about his neck. Only a respect ad admiration swollen to grand heights. This girls smile meant more to him than his own pride did.

Still.. it was good to show he wasn't above resisting.

As he stretched, Dia got up to head into the living room / kitchen and he pounced to wrap the girl in a tight hug, nestling his face in her hair as he planted a kiss on her neck repeatedly.

"I gotcha now."

All but purring the words he lifted her from the floor and back, still held tight in a hug, down onto the soft bed. In the privacy of their own room he had become more animated, showering her with compliments on the regular.
Kissing her cheek again he embraced her just a little tighter, enjoying the difference in tenperature between them.
Where he burned she was often chilly.

"I've done it! With the most beautiful girl in the world in my arms there is nothing to stand in my way. Not even.." pause for dramatic effect, ".. morning classes."

"Chips?" Zeke repeated in surprise as the puddle rose off the ground and assembled itself into a rather floppy person who had no sense of personal space. It took him a little while, during which his brain warred against his instinct to back down, but he eventually lifted both his hands and pushed the floppy doll back away from him, holding her at arm's length. "It's not my fault if you're flopping around like a rag doll and not looking where you're going," he responded.

It was a definite step forward from the reaction he would have had three months ago. Having friends who liked him despite all of his weirdness had helped Zeke find his courage. He wasn't going to run away and hide all the time. He would have never been able to hang around with Icy if he hadn't gotten over his fear of her pet boy. Although, his new confidence only extended so far. Zeke realised what his hands were holding to keep the girl away, and he pulled his hands away as if her chest had stung him.

He blushed bright red and took a few steps back, internally flinching before she started yelling and screaming and for her friend to start yelling and screaming. Then he'd be in trouble and he'd have to run and he'd be punished... Zeke closed his eyes and balled his hands into fists, thinking of anything to help him calm down. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Viola came to mind. Then the possibility of doing that to her came to mind, and he buried his head in his hands as the blush doubled out past his ears.

Bhu Adamina

As he glanced over at her, Bhu couldn't stop her grin from spreading wider across her face. Alex was one of the few people she knew who could drag that type of emotion from her. She most definitely could not afford the distraction of a boy, however. School was for learning and developing her element. Didn't need someone to cloud her reasoning, her judgement, or even stir around her emotions...no matter how much she wanted them to.

Her thoughts were quickly interrupted as he responded to her statement. And there it was: that nervous chuckle. It held such honesty, such emotion. Nope, Bhu didn't need it. Didn't need it at all. Another person coming upon them stole his attention away from her. For the first time in thirty seconds, she was able to exhale. Shaking her head, she looked over at the newcomer and rose her brow at the teacher. The woman was definitely a strange one, especially for being a teacher. She couldn't remember the last time she actually heard her speak. And why did Alex have to reward her with that grin of his?

Bringing a hand up to her face, she scrunched her nose as her eyes slid closed. This was exactly the type of distraction she did not need. She needed to go back to perfecting her element. As much as she could, anyhow. The only real Earth elemental she could look up to at this school had been injured three months ago, and was too busy healing to really teach her anything. So, it was up to her. She could do it on her own. The library was full of books- surely one of them had some research on her element.

Bhu lowered her hand and slowly opened her eyes. With a small nod to Chaske and Ms. Winterfield, she turned back to Alex and gave him a small grin. "Well, should really work on that coordination, then. Could land yourself in the infirmary one of these days. Unless your awkwardness is all a ruse and you're wanting someone to play nurse." Her eyes widened slightly at realizing what she had just said. Clearing her throat, she gave a small shrug before bringing a hand up. "Anyway. Back to studies for me. See you all later."

Turning, she quickly hurried towards the main building. Idiot, idiot, idiot! She rolled her eyes and sped up her feet. With a glance, she noticed a small crowd forming. Curiosity getting the best of her, she made her way over to the group. Bhu couldn't help a laugh at the blush on Zeke's face. She rolled her eyes and looked over at her friend. "Leave the boy alone, Wen. If he blushes any more, he's going to rupture a blood vessel. Then the librarian or the nurse will have to get involved...I know you love all the attention, but it's not needed today." She scrunched her nose as she looked around the group before looking back at Eirwen. "Do none of us have classes right now?"

Dia squeeled a little as she felt her feet leave the floor and found herself in a jumble of blankets and Felix. Laughing lightly, she playful tapped his head before squirming out from his arms and sitting on him before he could get up. "Classes smashes," she murmured before leaning forward and blowing an ice cold breath across his chest. "I just want to enjoy the morning."

She giggled slightly as she laid her head over his heart, listening to the beat and feeling the warmth that so contested her cold. Dia smiled, enjoying the peace.

Unbidden, events crossed through her mind from the last few months. The fountain. The forest. The gym. Other let definable moments.

Where Felix had learned control, at an ever growing rate, of both his emotions and his power... Dia had found herself merely better controlling the direction her outbursts of power took. No longer did she worry about Zeke being trapped in ice, but the signs still remained. Frozen glasses when someone insulted their relationship. The constant cold around her ever present. She'd once even froze all the contents in a boy's pockets for being a jerk.

After a moment she looked up into Felix's eyes, concern etching on her face. "Do you... Do you think I'll ever control my powers properly? Not just... This regulation of... Direction?" She let her hair cover her face as she thought. "What if I'm always a risk? I thought being more sure about myself would help and the classes... But they're... The problem isn't really getting better."

She couldn't say aloud how worried she was that Felix would leave her over an outburst and accident finally happened. That her friends would disappear if she didn't get better.

She bit her lip as she tried not to cry, chilly tears beginning to drop on Felix's chest anyways.

Leanne Hillcrest

@Rune_Alchemist@Regitnui@Sailorsadie

Pfft. Eirwen wished that the brown-haired girl was turned on by stepping on people...as actually strange as that was now that she took a brief moment to think about that. Blarg. But Eir was Eir, as it were, and she had become accustomed enough to the smaller, lazier puddle of a girl's comments on her legs in general. Like, was she attracted by or turned on by Leanne's legs? That was one question she really had no idea about right now, though it seemed since the smaller ice elementalist actually got up she would be making a pizza later as promised. Not that she minded doing a bit of cooking now and then to keep herself and her gamimg buddy satisfied. She quite enjoyed it, though of course to get the ever-adorable Eir to do anything else required more than a little prodding...usually with a foot due to her finding the floor a comfortable place seemingly anywhere. Even if that floor on one occasion was covered in spilled chips or snacks.

But the boy seemed to go into some...awkward mode, like the social attention with new people was grating to him. Especially after a human-sized sloth (or maybe a sloth-sized human) got into his face and demanded recompense for her lost potato-y, snaky delights that lied upon the floor...kinda like they always did in Eir's room on game nights. Though the boy's reactions kinda reminded her of one of the friendly autistic kids who had gone to her middle school, who had been nice to everyone, even Leanne herself actually.

"Woah there," Leanne said, grabbing the back of Eirwen's collar and lifting her up, putting the smol human garbage disposal next to her right side, giving the boy a bit of breathing room in the process, "Might be overwhelming him a bit there. Sides' Eir, you know you can grab a bag from my stash of snacks to replace it."

Though another girl seemed to turn her attention to Eir, getting a laugh at the boy's state and appearance in this situation. A small frown appeared on Leanne's face for a moment. Then letting out a small sigh as Eir's attention was called for by another individual, she looked back at the guy standing there before her, redder than a tomato and fists clenched like he wanted to run...maybe cry....maybe both? Maybe he was scared to have rebutted back against Eir? She had to take a guess, the that seemed like one of the most possible options.

"Hey, it'll be ok. No one's gonna yell at ya or anything for standing up for yourself. Take a minute to breathe slowly, in and out, eh?" she said to Zeke, her tone quieting down a bit as her expression took on a more serious but mostly empathetic appearance. Really, she was trying to not freak poor Zeke out, and was attempting, at least, to maybe help him calm down. Not that she was an expert at the matter, despite the attempted good will.

Diana Schwarzwald

The redheaded girl sat by the side of the lake, sitting with her legs crossed and her eyes silently closed. Her chest and plump bust rose and fell calmly with each focused, soothing rhythm in her breathing pattern of "in and out". Droplets of water clung to the outside of her body, dripping down bit by bit, drop by drops, even own from the bangs of her her wet hair and also down the sides of her face. Her two-piece bright red bikini was secured on her body still after a couple hours of swimming, and indeed this morning had offered the chance to use her own suit rather than the one-piece swimsuits the Academy provided for use in the pool.

Three months had gone by in a flash, though it had been interesting for that matter. A Fire Elementalist who liked swimming and being in the water as a method to relax and enjoy herself. Heh. The irony was not lost on her, nor on the seemingly many other Water and Fire Elementalist peers who still lat times noted the fact with confusion, awkwardness, or perhaps as if she was doing something "unnatural" or was committing some crime against nature or her own element. She'd shaken it off, but in part that meant avoiding the school pool and instead going to the lake, just to get away from the questions such as "are you actually a Fire Elementalist" among other things. Even if the Fire Elemental jumped up frustrated at her, though, she's probably just flip it off and keep on with her business.

She didn't hate fire, rather liked it actually when it came to learning about her element and its uses, but that didn't mean she had to have some aversion to the water. Pfft. What idiots would actually think that....actually, she felt she perhaps should not attempt to ponder that particular thought. Though if she wanted to try to channel things, maybe making up a chant would be funny. At least a little fire right now might help her dry off in time to pull on her clothes and make it to classes, since she wouldn't have time to go change back into normal underwear and out of her swimsuit. Besides, her clothes sat there not too far away, lying hung over a branch she had cleared of leaves and smaller stems to make it a clothes rack of sorts.

"I am fire, the warmth of life, the heat the sustains the world each day, the breath of life and vitality that fills all things...," the teen girl said under her breath in a steady manner, keeping in time with the rhythm of her controlled breathing, pretending that each breath she let out was a stream of fire that would come out over the top of the lake.

Though she was beginning to feel greater heat coming out of her mouth with each breath, at least. Huh. At least that was something.

~Eirwen~

@Regitnui@Crusader Lord@Sailorsadie

Flopping around like a ragdoll? True, but how incredibly rude. Eirwen simply gave him a deadpan expression as she was shoved back arms length, not doing a whole lot to resist. In all, that wasn't the reaction she was hoping for. Ah, how boring and tiring. She didn't even notice where Zeke was touching. In fact she was leaning into him, as if she wasn't even capable of standing on her own as she used his arms for support. When he rather abruptly pulled away, she nearly fell forward into the guy again.

"Hmm...like them?" Eirwen asked all-too nonchalantly to Zeke, like she was asking him casually what the weather was. "Or do you like ones like Leanne? There is such a thing as too big-ah?" Eirwen complained mildly as she was lifted by Leanne and brought to her side as another person she was familiar with made her presence known. "Ah, Leanne if you're going to carry me at least give me a piggy back so I can use your head as a pillow. Not as good as your lap but still..." She swiveled her eyes lazily towards Bhu, greeting her with a yawn. Attention? Pfft, she hated attention. Attention was tiring. She didn't want attention, she just wanted to find some place to curl up and sleep and eat junk food for the rest of eternity.

"No idea Bhu. I just woke up barely an hour ago..." She replied lazily. She generally didn't pay attention in classes anyways, and even if she did she had zero interest in learning anything. She turned her gaze back to Zeke as she tried to sink into Leanne's side. She considered telling the poor kid he ran into her and he should be the one watching where he was going, but she wasn't that cruel. At least, normally. Besides, he was being oddly adorable. Not as adorable as Leanne was, but still adorable. Hmm...maybe if she was nice she could get free stuff from him later. She'd get reparations for her bag of chips one way or another!

...but being nice was tiring. Bhu and Leanne were just about the only ones she reserved niceness so. Moreso Leanne but that was an entirely different matter.

"...Hey, face-blind-person. What's your name?" She could at least manage that much at least, though. Asking peoples name was appropriate and not too energy consuming in situations like this. Not that she really cared too much in the end.

Jideh Basrah

@Arya10108909

"What's steampunk? And no, I've never heard of Percy Jackson." Jideh replied as they made their way out of the Dorm building. Jideh pulled out his phone and turned on the flashlight functionality, though there was still enough light to see by during dusk. His boots crunched on leaves and detritus as he half-listened to Amelia's chattering. They kept a reasonable pace, and the Academy, shrouded in shadow as it was, seemed to usher them on. The road leading down to the city was upon them and something felt off. Jideh realized it was because Amelia was waiting for him to respond.

"Are you saying I'm not stupidly cute?" Jideh asked, feigning offense. He led her down to the tram station, by way of a staircase leading down underground. It was odd here. Being an earth elementalist by domain, if not specialization, he should feel right at home. Instead, the grimy and cold tram tunnel made him feel less comfortable. Still, Jideh's stomach was grumbling again. He just decided that if it was death or living down here, he'd choose death. They waited for the tram, and once it arrived, Jideh led Amelia down into the city where they emerged into surroundings that glowed in the night. It was just a short walk to the place he'd scouted beforehand; Sushi Soko.

Sushi Soko was a quaint little shop squished between two huge shopping outlets. What had seized Jideh the moment he stepped through the doors was how quiet the place was once the door shut. And how orderly the tables were, how not a speck of dust remained undisturbed. The decor was not garish, and it also wasn't particularly Japanese, but the staff who ran the kitchen looked as though they knew their way around cooking some means sushi. Jideh had always wanted to try the stuff, back when he'd been on the farm. His family had talked about the kind of food rich and successful people ate, and it always came back to sushi for whatever reason. The other thing that had struck Jideh about Sushi Soko was that the prices were well within his ability to afford. That had confused him at first, but then he realized that the reason his parents probably thought sushi was a rich person's food was because of their own relationship with the farm. Jideh himself was still a little bewildered at how much in the city and at the Academy was imported. The costs involved had to be astronomical...

Jideh turned to Amelia, and smiled easily.

"I hope you like sushi. If not, I'll still order some take out for me, but if you do then we can grab a table inside."

Life was good.

In three months, ShiZhen had friends, ShiZhen had some control over her water element, and Zeke's nickname of 'Braids' had slowly pushed away the undesirable nickname of 'Otter'. After her private study session with the headmaster, ShiZhen applied herself wholeheartedly into reigning in her powers, and realized what he was trying to show her. For as long as she has had her power, she sought either to escape from it, or keep it at arms length, forgetting her love of the water. Now, she had learned to embrace it, and that was the first step.

She enjoyed her classes, Ms. Hargreaves' thought-provoking philosophy, Mr. Hirsoi's math, and while she was not very physically fit, she at least enjoyed whenever they got to swim in Mr. Manilow's PE, even though she was still rather shy to be seen in a swimsuit.

ShiZhen had gotten close to her roommate, Lyra, and her friend, Zeke. Some of the other first years she knew cordially; volatile Felix, ice-cool Dia, sluggish Eirwen, sophisticated Kanako, easily-flustered Jideh, tough Chaska, and several others. Some of them demonstrated great mastery over their element despite their age, and even grew up surrounded by elemental family members. ShiZhen aspired to master her element as well, and wanted to learn as much as she could about life among elementals.

She headed towards the gathering that would be happening soon, wondering what it was. Alongside her floated Kracko Sr., a small cloud, the most recent manifestation of her unusual grasp of her abilities. Whereas before, her nervousness brought on massive amounts of condensation on herself, now a small cloud followed her wherever she went, its weather behavior indicative of her mood. As part of her regimen to embrace her powers, she decided to name it.

It had been three months since Catherine had offered one-on-one training to Kanako, which ended with Catherine flying Kanako surreptitiously back to her dorm for a change of clothes. Catherine had been teaching philosophy to the group of first years, many of whom, she could tell were troubled. Though she started with basic logic, she had gone into ethics, belief systems, and epistemology, the knowledge of how we know what we know, all in an effort to cultivate in them, not only a personal identity, but a conviction in the identity they chose. She didn't so much stress what was the 'right' thing to do, as much as she stressed what was right for them each as individuals, even if it expressed itself in the form of rage or deception. But her philosophy was that to truly master one's element, they had to embrace themselves, to come to terms with who they were rather than trying to run away from it. She saw herself as an example; as elusive and duplicitous as she was, it stands to reason that her mastery of air comes in the absence of the element, through the use of vacuums. She had often playfully hinted that anyone seeking one-on-one tutelage simply needed to approach her, and she would help them to unlock their potential by finding their center. Some had been brave enough to take her up on the offer, while others remained hesitant, fearful to confront themselves.

She headed towards the gathering spot, floating gracefully through the air. She wanted to see how her first years fared against the Headmaster's 'test'.

Amelia Lycrosse

"Steampunk is the best thing ever invented," Amelia exclaimed indignantly. "Percy Jackson is a very good book." She noticed the distinctly uncomfortable look on Jideh's face as they entered the tram station, but didn't say anything. When they arrived at the sushi restaurant. "I love sushi," she stated when they got there. "My favorite is salmon. But then again, I just love salmon." She laughed."What do you like to read? I love steampunk, but you haven't heard of it. I'll lend you my copy of Highfell Grimoires when we get back. What's your favorite book?" The waitress arrived and took their order.

Peeking out from his hands, he looked up carefully, but his face soon lit up. "Braids!" Zeke recognised the cloud over a girl's head, and waved. "Braids!" Someone else had joined the group as well, but he didn't immediately make any connection. Instead, he walked over to Braids and gave her a brief hug. "I was walking and I got bumped into by a puddle and now I'm confused. Please help," He asked, and looked back at the group. Only then did he recognise the dark-skinned girl. Not that they were rare, but something about the way she held herself. "Bookie!" He grinned, hugging her as well. Smiling at both of them, he felt a lot more confident.

The girl with the horns was looking at him, but he couldn't be sure about the floppy doll. "Um, Bookie, can you also help?" If he had two people helping him explain, maybe it'll be easier. He took a deep breath, very definitely did not think about Viola and hugging her and... No. "I'm Zeke, I take photographs, and I don't remember people if I don't see them a lot because faces all look the same to me. Or like nothing. It's hard to explain," He closed his eyes and shook his head. He stepped a little closer to Braids. And a little behind her. He wasn't scared or anything, just uncomfortable. "And class starts soon," he added.

Jideh Basrah

@Arya10108909

Jideh nodded to the waitress, a middle-aged Asian woman, and asked for a plate of assorted sushi rolls, some tempura, and three servings of wasabi-slathered open rolls. His mouth started watering as he spoke, and he swallowed weakly once she repeated the order back to him. "You know, I think I'd also like to get a plate of udon too. Thank you." The waitress took Amelia's order, and left them. Another waiter soon came by and offered them water. Jideh accepted the jug graciously and topped his glass off. He drank the whole thing in one go.

After he felt his throat grow a little less dry, Jideh cleared it and replied to Amelia's question. "You know, I guess I don't have a favourite book. It's not that I don't like to read. I didn't have tons of time to do it on the farm is all. I've been reading plenty of biochemistry, elementalism, and botanical textbooks, the library has tons, but I don't think that's quite what you were asking for. Fact is, you seem like you've read a lot more than I have." He blushed as he said it, than blushed harder when he realized he blushed. He grit his teeth, chastising himself. Not being a bookworm is nothing to be ashamed of you idiot! And why are you even blushing in the first place! Jideh exhaled and took a deep breath. He pulled at his jacket collar, and felt uncomfortably sweaty. Since when was it so hot in here? He took his jacket off and laid it out on the back of his chair. He tried to sit still and cool off which only partially worked.

"Look, I may not have read much fiction, but I can name any of the plants that they've "installed" in the restaurant. Just by sight too. I'd like to think I've got a pretty huge catalogue of plants in my head, and that's why I've not had time to read your... Steampunk, was it? That one just behind your head for instance, it's known as Prunus mume in Latin, but more commonly in Japan for instance, it's called Ume. Basically, it's a Japanese apricot. That cut of it has the flower, but it's purely ornamental. A ya... Yabai?" Jideh got out of his seat and rounded the table to kneel next to Amelia, getting a closer look at the flower. He brushed his hand lightly along the branch, feeling the petals, and one fell into his open palm. Jideh tsked, and laid the petal on the corner of the table, before returning to his seat.

"They must have to replant these poor things every few business days. At least, the ones that aren't plastic. They could cut costs and use authentic flower arrangements if they had actually done their homework. When the waitress comes back, maybe I can ask her who's responsible for this disaster. I kept a garden along with my Aunt, and she used to tell me that if I ever came across trampled stock, I ought to have a word with the person responsible. Suppose old habits die hard."

Chaska
@Sapphire

Having seen that a fair number of People were now present, Chaska gently pushed the small pile of books to the feet of Alex and stood. He glanced slowly to the faces of each person near him, nodded at them collectively, and turned on his heel. He had never been particularly fond of groups, something that shouldn't be particularly unexpected given the nature of his upbringing. It was much harder to fight a group than it was a single person after all, and while he had become strong enough to handle groups of four or five on his reservation, they hadn't been as gifted as his current peers.

He walked at a steady pace, his boots tapping against the ground slightly as he did so, making his way once again to the his dorm. He unlocked the door silently, and after taking off his boots, stepped in; ignoring whether or not his room-mate Tyler was present. He tossed his towel into a laundry hamper just next to his bed, and set his boots on a small rack near the entrance. One of his earliest rules with his room-mate is that shoes were not to be worn in the house, the mess they made was not worth the minor convenience of keeping them on.

After a few moments of standing in the middle of his room, Chaska sat down on his bed and laid back, letting out a long sigh, followed by a slight groan.

He was still very, very nauseous from the earlier meditation.
