Here's my application! I hope it proves satisfactory.
Name: Douglas, Goro
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Appearance:
While naturally inclined toward slenderness, his is a body he has worked to strengthen. The majority of his form is rubbery and fiercely luminescent, though toward the extremities it becomes ordinary skin, though very tan. Goro stands at 5'9” and weighs 150 lbs.
Personality: Goro is empathetic, polite, eloquent, and highly moral, but also tends to be overanxious and can act brashly. Moreover, he possesses a powerful inferiority complex that convinces him that the reason people don't like or respect him is that he doesn't do enough for them to prove his worthiness. He doesn't typically take the initiative in interacting with others, and is inclined toward both giving up on others and thinking little of himself. However, he does fundamentally want to help others out and make their lives easier, reasoning that everyone deserves peace and happiness, and on occasion he does manage to open up and let his light shine.
Abridged History: The son of an immigrant from America and a native Japanese woman, Goro faced a troubled upbringing, due in no small part to his quirk. Despite possessing a power that seemingly demands that he stand out, he spent much of his childhood trying to hide once it manifested. His parents, though eternally strapped for cash and somewhat hindered by his father's lack of familiarity with the culture, provided for him as best they could, but he remained a social and economic outcast. Though things often seemed bleak, he never stopped admiring the world's heroes, particularly those who through will and ingenuity turned mundane or unfortunate quirks into formidable tools of justice. Desperate to make something of himself, he often volunteered or took odd jobs, and when the chance came he worked part-time alongside school. His sights never left heroism, however, and he made it his goal to enroll at a hero academy.
Quirk: Vitalight – a Mutation-type quirk that's led Goro's tissues, primarily on his torso and head, to produce large amounts of light not unlike sunlight. Though this quirk is always at work, Goro can to a degree control how much light is produced and how strong it is, most acutely through his face. The light he gives off contains a very high concentration of energetic nutrients, and when a steady amount is provided to another individual, it contiuously replenishes stamina and -if the subject has a quirk- also continuously 'refills' that person's quirk, allowing it to be used longer and a bit stronger than normal. Goro can also 'flash' his light in a very strong, directed burst capable of blinding or even stunning a target.
Of course, Vitalight is not without its drawbacks. Support provided to someone else demands that Goro continuously shine his light on not just that target but that target's skin, which means he has to concentrate to maintain his aim and that support can't be given to heavily-clothed targets. More glaringly, Goro possesses a finite amount of extra light to give, drawing from his own stamina. Bursts take an impractical amount of stamina, and said bursts are ineffective against enemies wearing eye protection, not facing him, and even closing their eyes.

Questions:
- Given its reputation, why apply to Kokoro Academy?
“I'd like to say that it's because this school, in a way, is the most appealing. To be candid, my family is not terribly well-off, either in terms of money or social standing. That means other schools are simply beyond our means. Plus, while my quirk is good it isn't scholarship material and I'm not the sort of natural prodigy that some of the other schools are looking for. Most people in my position would have chosen a normal career, but I still want to be a hero, so I'm taking the best path I can.” - Why do you want to be a professional hero?
“There's a lot of suffering in the world. A lot of people struggle to live day to day, whether that means finding a job, finding a partner, or finding a reason to live. I've had it rough myself, but I always looked up to real heroes. No matter what heavy burdens weigh upon them, they persevere and attempt to make the world a better place. So that's what I want to do, too. To ease the suffering, and especially to take a stand against the kind of people who're more than happy to make things worse for everyone.” - What kind of professional hero do you want to become?
“I see myself becoming a support hero, the kind of person who's a pivotal part of a team or the partner anyone can rely on. My quirk can make other people stronger, after all. I'd be more than happy to be a 'hero of heroes', so to speak, by which I mean I help out the people who're so busy helping others that they might not realize they need help themselves.” - Best describe yourself in five sentences.
“W-well...I am conscientious, always trying to do right by others and by the law. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist, so for me there's no ' it's good enough' or 'it's probably nothing' or 'it's not my responsibility'. If I make a mistake, I own it and learn from it; there's never a limit to doing and being better. Even if I don't become the next number-one hero, I know that I can in some small part make the world a better place, so I suppose I'm an optimist too.” - What are you interests and hobbies?
"I work a lot outside of school, and with free time I also do some volunteer work, but as for typical hobbies I'd probably say gymnastics and reading. Healthy mind, healthy body. If it counts, I also tend the roof garden on our apartment. There's a certain satisfaction to growing your own food, you know?” - Are there any notable accomplishments you want to us to be aware of?
“...If you mean academic accomplishments or awards, I'm...uh, not in possession of any, regrettably. Always someone just a bit better.” - Tell us something about your quirk that most might not know? Any events or memories, be it joyous or ill, tied to it?
“With my quirk, growing food is much faster than usual. The roof garden I mentioned is very important to me, since our family's poor. It's kept us going during the especially hard times, and the feeling of giving back to my parents when they've done so much for me is like nothing else in the world. Makes me feel like I'm really making a difference for the better. And when I've had extra, I take it to the shelter I volunteer at. The gratitude of the people there...it's the same way. That feelings like I really can be a hero.” - Why should we consider you over the other applicants? What can you offer that they cannot?
"I touched on this in the 'five sentences' section, but I'd say I offer a solid work ethic, a positive and honest attitude, and versatility. My quirk can be used for offense or defense, helping injured civilians or search-and-rescue in dark places. As for me personally, I can step into whatever role I'm needed in. Leader, follower, risk-taker, compassionate friend, whatever; I'll figure out what it's about and give it my all. I want nothing more than to leave this world more full of joy and peace than I found it."
