[N.O.V.A. Profile]
Name | Veronica "V" Silverstone
Alias | Identia
Age | 24
Gender | F
Appearance | Standing at around 5'6, weighing about 130 pounds, V is an asian woman with flat, bright features. Her black hair is usually tied up into a ponytail. She has a healthy, feminine figure.
Notoriety | Unknown
Class/Level | Multi-Powered Class 6: Class 2 and Class 4. Level: Blue, potential for Red
Abilities | Identia: Seemingly defying entropy, Identia is the ability Veronica has to create duplicates of herself. All of them are variants of herself, some seemingly identical to the original, others having considerably different personalities. The designated Alpha Veronica, the one born from her mother, can exert control over her clones, designated Epsilon. From suggestion to full on mind control, but the more control she exerts, the more unstable the Epsilons and the Alpha become.
Their goals are almost alway aligned, however, so this rarely comes up in any significant form. There have been up to 8 Epsilons at once, although Veronica hasn't pushed her abilities to their limits yet as obviously her life can become very, very hectic the more Epsilons there are. The Epsilons are fully grown women with their own thoughts and feelings. When they wish, it seems the Epsilons and the Alpha can share information with each other telepathetically.
Epsilons exist independantly of the Alpha. When Veronica is asleep, the Epsilons can be awake. If Veronica were to die, there is no reason not to believe the Epsilons could not continue to exist. The Epsilons can create more Epsilons as well. Although Veronica is currently 24, all of the created Epsilons spawn at age 23. This suggest that, as long as once Epsilon survives, a new group could be formed, and that this process could continue forever as all Epsilons, no matter what age the Alpha is, are created at age 23. If Veronica were to die, one of the other Epsilsons, the one closest in relation to her, would become the next Alpha.
The creation of an Epsilon is cleaner than one might expect. One of the other clones passes into a coma. Over a 48 hour period, there is a swirling of dust and particulates from the air, somewhat obscuring the process. Either way, these particulates quickly solidify into the organs of a fully grown woman. First, the skeleton is formed. Then the muscles and finally skin. The newly formed Epsilon is in a coma for 6 hours, and then she wakes up. This process can be interrupted if the creator Epsilon is sufficiently disturbed, and though it has not happened yet, a semi-formed Epsilon will still remain and will most likely die instantly. The newly created Epsilon has all the knowledge of the world Veronica had when she was 23, and is aware of their condition as a "clone" of the "original." However, it seems they often adapt the mindset and mood of the Epsilon or Alpha they are the creation of, and this affects their personality and goals. But they are all the same woman and share mostly the same life experience, so often their goals are intact. Their telepathic connection with each other also means they can always be on the same page and mindset on what the others are going through. To prevent confusion and establish a small personal identity, they all adopt nicknames.
This group of Epsilons and Alpha is collectively known as Identia, and is also the name of the ability Veronica has.
Currently, a small contigent of like-minded women provides little threat to the outside world. However, the possibility of large scale production of Epsilons is one to keep in mind. It is unknown how far Veronica could push herself or her Epsilons, but the creation of a small army is not an impossible outcome. The production of Epsilons would hypothetically increase exponentially. But all the Epsilons must eat, sleep, and be trained- though this process could be sped up by their ability to telepathically transmit information.
[Gear]
Attire | All of the Identia wear different clothes. Although a large percentage seem to favor the crop tops and skinny jeans that Veronica did when she was 23, they all wear something to seperate themselves from the other Identia, either from trying to acquire a sense of personal identity, or merely making it easier to tell who is who.
Armament/Equipment | Various improvised weapons if need be, but so far Identia have not considered the possibilty of creating some kind of militia.
[Temperament & Lifestyle]
Affiliation | None
Alignment | Ringleader- Social Evil
Personality/Habits | Veronica is an odd woman. Absorbed into her own culture of herself, she is a self-obsessed woman who cares little except her own personal gain. She is enthusiastic and cheery, and genuinely so. Life is good, and it is meant to be lived! But often she finds it is other people and their issues that get in the way of her happiness. Wealth, power, these are things she cares about, things she desires. To make life even better. Plus, most people around her are dull, both in lacking intelligence and being so boring. She likes to play with people, see what they say when she says this. She is not lacking in social skills, she is perfectly capable of maintaining a normal relationship. But it almost always one way, as she has scarcely found someone worthy of her attention longer than a few months. Intelligent, but lacking in heart or soul.
Occupation/Trade | Veronica is in control of a small underground ring. The Epsilons have taken positions at various other locations, including waitressing, baby sitting, salons, and libraries.
Skills/Talents | Veronica and her Epsilons are intelligent, and fast learners. Given enough time, Veronica can become novice or adept at most masteries.
Veronica is a talented gymnast.
She is also trained in self-defense and markswomanship, and she is somewhat adept at both.
Family | Mother: Jessica Zhen, deceased. Father: Liang Wang, location unknown
Background | Nian Zhen, even before she was put into the system, had to rely on herself. She never did like her parents, and felt very little when her mother passed away, and even less when her father disappeared. They were just in the way, she thought at the time. So much fighting, so little ambition. Boring. People who wanted nothing more but to eek out an existence in this world never had her respect.
Now in the system, a ten year old Nian Zhen was intelligent, ambitious, and charismatic. Her caretakers liked her. But she wanted more. As a child, she recognized how stupid and vulnerable she was, and it irked her. She yearned to grow older, become more indepedant, and learn more about the world and it's mechanisms.
If she wanted too, she could have worked her away into a comforting, stable life. But stability was tedius, comfort was boring. She wanted danger, excitement, growth. Wealth and power, those were the things she desired. That would make life fun. Then she would meet the real interesting people, those who sought out what they wanted and took it.
So she fell in with crime. At 18 she changed her name to something she thought was sexy and dangerous, rather than her chinese given name. Veronica Silverstone. Sure, that would work. Inspired by the books she read as a child, it was an English name, one that exuded feelings of wisdom and mystery.
She fit right in. Some underestimated her, and those paid for it. She was a talented runner, given her gymnast background, and was more clever than most of her station. At 23 years old, she slipped up. Delivering a package that was above her station, trying to take advantage of a tumultuous power vacuum by currying favor with the new money. Biting off more than she could chew, she was running from the cops when she slipped off a roof and banged her head. Most of the damage was internal. Concussed, she stumbled away, escaping into a dark alley and back into her apartment. Passing out, she was in a coma on the floor of her apartment for two days.
When she awoke, sleeping next to her was herself. It wasn't a hallucination brought on by her head injury, as she feared. It was too real. She could touch the woman on the floor, feel her breathing. She wrapped her up and laid her on the bed, and taking a break from her illegal work for a day to recuperate from her injury, waited for six hours. On the sixth hour, her clone awoke. It was an interesting conversation. The two of them worked things out quickly. Veronica was a Variant, and her powers were dormant for her whole life. This first Epsilon named herself Kilroy, and two became fast friends. Eventually, Kilroy experimented, using some self-prescibed medication to put herself to sleep. Veronica watched in horror and wonder as the dust in the room swirled into life. This second Epsilon became Yassaliah.
Veronica wanted to be an unknown, for now. Maybe she could keep her powers a secret. Or maybe she could go into new parts of town and convince people that Yassaliah or Kilroy were her twin sisters. It would be a complex web of lies, for sure. Veronica wanted more of herself. How many could she get away with? Like living with roomates, they could all find different jobs and split the rent.
Yassaliah wanted more. Moving out of town, she began a spree of robberies with another Epsilon she created, Phoebe. They began bringing home the money, and Veronica admitted, the idea of committing crimes like this was so fascinating. Imagine the possibilites!
So it was, The Identia became a small criminal crew. They passed as a pair of twin sisters when talking with other syndicates and crews, but in reality they were eight in number. Quickly, the "Twin Sisters" of Phoebe and Yassaliah became well known in the criminal underground for being able to pull off heists and get things done. Veronica sank ever deeper into her own little world, and her narcissim became ever more amplified. Indeed, the only person she could ever rely on...was herself. Nobody else mattered. It was only a matter of time before the Identia dabbled in security work and contracts involving violence. Their first kill was just a few months ago.
Yassaliah was shot and killed in a drug deal gone wrong. The other men who were working with the "Twin Sisters" assumed Yassaliah was dead, as was the truth, but lo and behold, Yassaliah was fine. An Epsilon named Boba took Yassaliah's place, while the real Yassaliah's corpse was hidden away. Who would look for a body when the woman was alive and well, infront of your very eyes?
Though saddened by the loss of Yassaliah, the fact that they got away with seemlessly covering up the death of one of their number was encouraging. Quickly, Yassaliah was replaced with an Epsilon of similar tempermant who took the name Jassaliah. In many ways, it was like Yassaliah never died at all.
For now, The Identia work in secret. Perhaps it is only a matter of time before their secret is revealed, but they plan to unveil it anyway soon enough. But things need to be in place. For it's no doubt that once Veronica reveals the full scope of her powers, she will become hunted by NOVA, and all of the other Epsilons will become hunted. When that happens though, the Identia will no longer have to hold back.
