Horizon Sunset is a Compound Revolving Dust Bow (CRDB), a hybrid between firearm and longbow. The signature feature of the weapon is the revolver-like chamber used to load and cycle various forms of Dust. By using cyan Dust to form projectiles, which are then imbued with other colors, Horizon Sunset can bypass the usual restrictions of using standard Dust-based ammunition: shape and size. Its converting frame is designed to shift through three modes:
- When sheathed, Horizon Sunset's frame folds into a compact, rectangular case worn on Coyote's back.
- In it’s basic form, Horizon Sunset is a firearm bearing some resemblance to a boxy submachine gun, just small enough to be used with a single hand. It has a skeletal stock, allowing for two handed use as well. A blade extends from just before the barrel and points diagonally towards the base of the handle, appearing akin to a hand guard. This blade allows it to be used as an axe or hook, but to describe it in those terms would be a misnomer; Horizon Sunset is very much a projectile weapon. Dust projectiles fired in this form max out at about the same caliber as a rifle, but effective size depends on desired rate of fire. The longer the trigger is held down, the larger the bullet. Rate of fire is as fast as one can pull the trigger.
- In its complete form, Horizon Sunset takes the form of a bladed bow. The blade present in the previous form extends out, creating the lower limb, while another blade extends from the top to create the upper limb. The degree of recurve is adjustable. A string of hard light dust extends from the tips of these limbs and attaches to the top and bottom of the back of the stock. By pulling the stock, the rear of the gun telescopes out. Inside, a long arrow of Dust is forged. Releasing the stock allows the parts to rapidly telescope into place and drive the spike forward, engaging the firing mechanism and propelling the arrow at bullet speeds. Aiming down the magnified sight allows for long distance sniping.

Allows Coyote to create an attractive or repulsive forces between things infused with his aura. As a side effect, his aura persists within objects for a longer duration than normal.

Emblem: A stylized animal head.Personality: Coyote is a rogue. Whether he is a
loveable rogue is up to others' interpretation, but he
is a rogue regardless and he is well aware of it. Proud of it, even. He is the exact person he wanted to be when he was seven years old, and despite the amount of potential regrets in his history, he agrees with his eight year old self that it's fucking
awesome to be him. He makes no attempts to hide his sordid past, and he doesn't consider it something he needs to be "redeemed" for in any capacity. It's what he'd been called all his life, and it's what he shaped his identity around. Hunter or not, he will always carry his pride as an outlaw.
Some might consider him a bad guy because of this, but the man himself doesn't bother with questions of morality. He simply follows his heart and the will of the ones he's entrusted himself to. If they don't coincide, he'll just act as he sees fit. For the most part, Coyote takes on the role of the one who lightens the mood. He's amicable, outgoing, and can maintain his Devil-may-care demeanor even under pressure. Even in battle you can find him taunting and teasing his enemies for not entirely pragmatic reasons. It's almost as if he takes nothing seriously. Which is probably true for most things, to be fair.
Overall he is pretty easy to get along with so long as you follow a singular rule: do not threaten the people around him. He has a deep rooted sense of love for those he connects with, but it is just that: a love for those he connects with, exclusively. Those he cares about — the friends he met on that journey, the gang he calls his family, the teammates he trusts his back to, and so on — are his world, regardless of who they are or what others think. The moment someone outside this scope becomes a hindrance to them is the moment Coyote paints a target on their back.
In the case that he encounters an enemy that is also a friend, things become more complex, but the less that is spoken of that, the better.
One of Coyote's dreams is to meet a coyote faunus. Not for any important reasons mind you, but just because he thinks it would be neat.
Background: Coyote was born somewhere to someone, and that is about how in-depth he goes with his life story before the age of seven. By his reckoning, where he came from and who birthed him aren't relevant in the slightest to who he is now. Even when asked about directly, he can only shrug and ask if it really matters that much. After all, his life became much more interesting when he was seven, and wouldn't you want to hear that story instead?
There is a group of outlaws called The Wild Hunt. They are led by a Vacuan Huntsman named Robin Cassidy. When Coyote was seven, they came to his part of the world during one of their Dust heists. Despite what the official record says, he vehemently insists he was not kidnapped. It just so happens that he caught their attention with his semblance, and they decided to take him on as the latest and youngest addition to their now-eight person crew.
The next ten years would be like a dream for the young man; although even he will admit it was a bit rough at the start. Constantly getting his ass kicked to teach him how to fight wasn't fun. Getting teased all the time for his inexperience and naivete wasn't fun, either. But eventually he decided to stop being a little bitch about it, and then he started having a lot more fun on their cross-kingdom Dust heisting spree. Coyote credits his skill to sink-or-swim training measures, but it's the emphasis on mutual trust and camaraderie that made him what he is today. With a band of folks you could rely on, even a little scoundrel like himself could imagine the even greater heights and greater sights they could reach.
But like all dreams, eventually you wake up, and Coyote's awakening is still very, very fresh. In the aftermath of a raid on an SDC Dust transport, Atlas authorities found him in critical condition. Initially they had assumed that the heist went sideways. However, when no dust was found on the rail, that theory was quickly eliminated. The common assumption was that Coyote was betrayed by his own crew, but his attitude during the interrogation casts doubt on that. A competing theory posits that he was the sole survivor because Robin Cassidy and her Wild Hunt haven't been seen since, but that too is something Coyote is unwilling to confirm or deny.
Whatever the case, he was brought into Atlesian custody, where he was held until he recovered. Originally the plan was to try him within the Atlesian judicial system, but Vacuo extradited him due to his existing, outstanding warrants out for his arrest there. But rather than face time in a juvenile detention center as he had expected, he was presented an offer he couldn't refuse due to his "circumstances".
In exchange for a pardon, he would become a Huntsman for Shade Academy.

Favors:- Coyote is something of an expert when it comes to working with Dust. Most weapon-based Dust applications are biased towards singular applications. However, his extensive arsenal of trick arrows is a testament to the versatility of the medium. His ability to judiciously apply the correct tool at the correct time is perhaps his deadliest boon.
- Regardless of his overall combat aptitude and the close range options of Horizon Sunset, Coyote is very much a marksman-type huntsman. Numerous train heists have provided him ample opportunity to refine his shooting skills to be dreadfully effective in close quarters, on the move and on unsteady terrain. This complements his naturally mobile fighting style, allowing him to liberally harass his opponents in many different ranges and environments.
- As a(n ex-)career criminal, Coyote possesses a unique set of skills and assets that have served him well across his years on the lam. Although he can no longer access his network of contacts or the brunt of his assets, his skills and knowledge remain. If you ever need something done under the table, he’s the man to call.
Disfavors:- Coyote is an idiot. His theoretical knowledge of most things outside his areas of expertise is severely lacking as a result of being raised outside the law. Although this hadn't proven to be a problem in any significant capacity before, he is now a student in secondary school with barely a pre-secondary academic foundation. This wouldn't be much of an issue if he was a diligent study, but this is unfortunately not the case.
- Although the Kingdom of Vacuo is ill-equipped to enforce them, Coyote does have probationary restrictions as a part of his release terms. While this isn't necessarily a major issue day-to-day at Shade Academy, venturing to major settlements outside of Vacuo is likely to present logistical issues. This does not include his effective debt slavery to Shade Academy, which takes a significant cut of his earnings.
- Coyote's first priority is the people he cares about. If it comes down to it, he's completely willing to sacrifice the his and his teammates' objectives to ensure their safety. This not a fact he hides, nor is it one he is willing to compromise on. It makes him prone to reckless action and """easy""" to manipulate, but it's worth noting that the saying about sleeping dogs applies here.
