✡ Welcome to Ember Grove ✡

Starting Date: September 1st, 2020

Witch's Spellbook:

Details about places in discord. Any small buildings unnamed in discord, which are many, can be any commercial lot of choosing from mcdonalds to a clothing store etc.

Road 68
If you go down this road straight for about a half hour and make a turn down a barely noticeable road towards what appears to be a gated, private community, you'll find it's occupants a bit strange. Not many people venture here and those who do don't make it out. This small town was taken over by the vampire clan Vie Et Mort.

Road 69
This is a very long road through wooded areas and plains. After an hour's worth of travel, about 50 miles in, if you make turn down a dirt trail, you'll find the gated entrance to a very large facility where you will be told to turn back. This is where Operation Humanity can be found.

Ember Grove. The small town that truly awakens while many of its people sleep. Most stories begin at the break of dawn, but this is not the case here. Gothic bloodsuckers blend into the nightlife scene. The hounds of the night weave between the trees of the forest they roam freely. And the crafty spellcasters secretly participate in out worldly rituals. These things don’t simply go bump in the night, and it’s because of this that the scarred misfits of humanity take responsibility for being the boogie men to the monsters that thrive when the sun sets over the horizon.

Hate, love, fear, joy, and even death lie ahead in a story where so many intentions and vendettas cross paths. We know who the players are, but how will the game turn out?

Tonight is almost a night like any other in the town of Ember Grove. It’s quiet, but brimming with opportunity. A Thursday, just one day from the weekend. Perhaps an appetizer for the Friday night to come. The night air of Autumn is cool and welcoming, urging people to enjoy the outside before winter rears its head. This is a night to take advantage of. The question is... Will you?

Time:Dusk
Location: Parking outside Alexei's bar.
Interaction with: N/A

Leaning on his parked Cabriolet, generously funded by his new bosses, Kade lit a cigarette and inhaled the smoke. He looked through his phone, also given to him by Operation Humanity, anxiously waiting for a targets name to be sent to him. Alas it has been two days, and he wasn't given any instructions on what to do next. Impatient as he can sometimes be, he decided to send a message himself, and demand that someone would meet him so that he could discuss his role in this town.

His judgement of Ember Grove was mixed. From the outside it looked to him like a friendly, calm town where nothing interesting ever happens. But he's experienced enough to know that it just means someone is really good at covering up the truth. Looking toward Alexei's, scanning with his eyes those who enter it, Kade hopes to go in and talk his way through the gossip, and learn more about those who reside in this town.

Stepping on his cigarette, Kade made his way toward the Bar and stood in line. There he noticed a bouncer was putting bands on people to enter. He rolled his eyes, feeling like he was 16 again, but waited to be given his own nonetheless.

Katya Rokstova

Time: Dusk | 18:00
Location: Alexie's
Interacting With: Viktor Rokstova, Rose Leblanc @Tae

As the clock hit 18:00 and the clock rang to signify happy hour Katya readied herself and made sure that Rose was paying attention, "You need to help me with handing out drinks, old folk love to drink a lot during happy hour" she said with a slight hint of a Russian accent as she put on her apron. As the clock hit 18:15 most of the older folk had got their first drink and she recognised some supernatural regulars sitting in the corner chatting with each other, "Hey Rose I got this for now, would you mind checking on our friends in the corner and see if they need something?" she said nodding in the general direction of the regulars as she was pouring some whisky in a glass filled with ice for one of the regulars at the bar.

the regular at the bar is an older biker who is currently apart of the hells angels chapter in Ember grove he is quite a lovely old man who doesn't cause any trouble for the bar so him being associated with a biker gang isn't that big of a problem, usually, it's the younger guys who cause fights at the bar but they usually get told of by the higher-ups and older members of the chapter if they disturb the peace. Since they don't have a clubhouse the chapter has started renting one of the larger rooms in the deeper basement for their club meetings and they usually park their motorcycles outside of the bar. It's a win-win for both parties as the chapter helps Viktor with keeping the peace inside the bar area incase some big fight happens and the club doesn't have to buy a whole compound to have their meetings at.

Just as Katya got ready to open up a new bottle of vodka for the older woman of Russian descent in front of her Viktor let 3 younger werewolves into the bar signalling her to let them into their packs storage room in the deeper basement she quickly poured the drink for the woman and jogged up to them as she told Rose to take over for her at the bar. "I'm guessing you are here for your monthly shipment?" The what looked like the older of the 3 answered with a simple nod. "Alright, you know where the storage room is so I'm just gonna let you guys go down there alone, I trust you ok? Don't break my trust." She said that last part with a stern look on her face as she looked at the older one while unlocking the backdoor to let them into the dark and chilly basement.

Nathalie Prescott

Time: Dusk
Location: Hospital
Interaction with: N/A

"Dr. Prescott!"

Nathalie was startled out of sleep, taking a second to realize she'd been woken up from a wildly vivid dream. Staring up at the nurse, she gathered herself before speaking. "Yes, what's wrong?"

"My apologies, didn't mean to scare you. We have an abdominal gunshot victim on the way, ETA 5 minutes. He 's in stable condition for now but has lost quite a bit of blood. The team is prepping up now."

"Thank you, Michael."

Nathalie rose up from the chair, straightening out her scrubs to the best of her abilities. She had fallen asleep at her desk from pure exhaustion due to her double shift. Her co-worker was out on vacation and she volunteered to fill in the gap, but in hindsight maybe she should have taken only half the shift. With a sigh, the young woman grabbed her half-empty water bottle and followed the nurse out into the hall. As they passed a bakery stand, Nathalie's stomach complained of hunger. She hadn't eaten anything since early in the morning, but it had been a hell of a busy night and day and she could only hope that the ER flow slowed down a little, at least until the following morning when she would finally be off.

Time:Dusk, 18:20
Location: On the beach near the East woods.
Interaction with: N/A
Ambiance: Beach waves, video of sunset

Digging his bare feet into the damp sand, Boris was sitting in an almost fetal like position as he hugged his knees. He was only wearing ripped jean shorts and a wet stained white tank top. The wind felt cold, and even colder was the water that reached his feet every few moments. But this cold was nothing compared to what he had to endure back in Ukraine, in fact he almost found it comforting that the cold of autumn wasn't all that threatening.

He thought it would be relaxing to come see the sun set, as he watched the shadows around him get long and hard, only part of the sun still lingering at the corner of the horizon. But he didn't feel relaxed.

Today was harder than others, old feelings he has been trying to bury resurfaced as they do every once in a while. People at the pool showed to be concerned for him, which made him uncomfortable. He asked to leave early and hurried away, walking all the way to the beach before realizing he left his shoes back at work. Walking barefoot in the middle of autumn, he noticed that people stared at him, crossing the street to avoid him. He was built strong and tall, and he supposed walking barefoot might've made him look threatening and a little crazy. Having lived for years without wearing any shoes at all, he's still too used to being barefoot at all times. He finds wearing shoes unnecessary, and is often bothered by the customs that are forced on him ever since moving to Ember Grove.

He buried his face on his knees, as day turns to night, hoping that something, anything, would happen to help me get his mind off of things. He hummed to himself, a soothing sound, dulcet tones creating a wordless melody, something to help him drift away to a reassuring Neverland. It was the same melody his mom used to sing him and his sister to sleep. Finally, a good memory resurfaced instead.

Time: Dusk
Location: Alexei's
Interaction with: Rose, who's tending the bar @Tae

As Kade entered the bar, he flinched as his pistol vibrated violently. It usually emits a slight vibration at the presence of vampires, but he supposed there are many of them in this bar. He placed his hand on his pistol, hidden under his shirt, to let it know he acknowledged its warning so that the vibration can stop.

He made his way to the bar, and watched as one of the tending hosts lead three individuals to a back door. He gestured to the bartender left in charge. "Hey sweetheart, Johnnie Walker Black Label served over ice, please."

He then glanced at the bottles on display behind her, "and if you don't have that, then I'll have whatever good whiskey you got." he said, shooting her a charming smile.

He anticipated that if the bartender is aware of the supernatural, he might look suspicious to her. He's new here. And he's definitely not a regular. But hey, if the whiskey is good, he's going to be.

The keys jingled as the door of the bakery locked. It had been a much busier day than Sorrel had expected and so she had stayed longer than normal, but it was worth it for happy customers. She was, however, eager to get out of there as she had plans that night. Once a week she liked to go for a run through the forest, to let the wolf out of the cage for a little bit. This time, though, she had invited her friend Cyrus to come with her as she thought it might be fun to have some company.

Cyrus was a good guy and she had a soft spot for him ever since she met him and helped him run his abusive father out of his apartment. She loved making friends and Cyrus had proven to be a wonderful friend, enjoying his company. Often times she would bring him some leftover things from her bakery or bring him dinner once or twice a week. While she always played it off like she had extra, the truth was her caring nature made her want to make sure he was eating properly and wanted him to know as much kindness as she could provide.

She climbed into the driver's seat of her car before she pulled her phone out. She scrolled through her contacts until she found Cyrus name and opened up her texting app:

Hey leaving the bakery now. Meet you at the trailhead :smile

She hit send before throwing her phone in the passenger seat and turning the key in the ignition of her black Passat. She shifted into reverse and began the short drive to the trailhead at the edge of the woods. Once there she parked the car in the small parking lot, got out, and went to the back of the car. She opened the trunk and pulled out an empty backpack to store their personal items, threw a couple water bottles into it, then slung it over her shoulder as she closed the trunk. She then leaned up against her car, messing with her phone as she waited for Cyrus to show up.

Rose hadn't been there at work for too terribly long yet, perhaps a half hour or so when the influx of people began to increase. As the sun went down they always got busier as the monsters liked to come out and play. This thought caused her to chuckle to herself a bit as she realized to some she would be considered one of those monsters. Perhaps she was a monster, but that was for an entirely different reason that she didn't want to think about at the moment. She needed to focus on the task at hand and that was making sure the customers got served.

She looked up at Katya as she instructed her to go take care of the Hells Angels seated over in the corner. "Sure thing Katya, but don't blame me when the young ones get a verbal lashing if they make their usual comments." She said in a teasing manner as she grabbed her notepad and a pen before heading over to the table. She watched two of the younger guys nudge each other as they saw her coming over and she knew what would be coming. It wasn't uncommon for some of the younger ones to try and hit on both Rose and Katya and while Rose found it mildly annoying, she could also find humor in it at times. She liked to see what they came up with as some were more creative than others.

"What can I get you boys?" She asked them as she readied the pen on her notepad. The one young man smirked as he opened his mouth to speak.

"Haven't we met before? Or was I just dreaming?" He asked her and it took everything in Rose to keep from rolling her eyes. That was the line he chose? How pathetic.

"Hmm I think we have actually. Where was it though?" She began to respond as she tapped the pen on her lips, feigning thought. She then held up the pen as if to say 'aha'. "Oh yes, I remember now! I'm also the receptionist at the STD clinic. How's that rash coming along?" She exclaimed as she gave him a smirk of her own. The others at the table burst out laughing as he looked mortified.

"Come now Rose, go easy on the poor boy. He just joined and he's foolish." One of the older men said while still laughing and grinning at her. Rose couldn't help but chuckle a little herself as well.

"Well tell him to work on his pick up lines, that one was awful. Now drinks anyone?" They all rattled off their orders which she jotted down then head over to put them in the computer. Shortly after she had delivered the drinks Katya had her take over the bar for a bit which she happily did.

A man approached the bar, one she hadn't seen before in town which was a curious thing. She was slightly cautious of him as sometimes the new people in town ended up being hunters, but she still tried to keep her semi friendly demeanor. "Sure thing hun. Wanna start a tab and if so I need a name? She said as she began getting his drink, grabbing a rocks glass and putting some ice in it. She grabbed the whiskey and poured him some before passing it to him. She moved to the computer nearby and began entering his order. "Haven't seen you around here before, ya new to town?" She asked as she glanced at him.

Luna

Time: After Sunset
Location: Woods outside of Vie-EtMort
Interaction: @Tae - Sorrel @Alivefalling - Cyrus

The woods flew passed the blonde as she sprinted through it. Her cold feet were crunching leaves and twigs beneath her but she didn't care. Her hair blew in the wind around her and often into her face much to her annoyance. Her hospital gown billowed around her and only caused her to shiver as she ran. Her eyes were wide-eyed as she scanned the surroundings for any fast moving shapes. While she didn't see any, it didn't mean that they weren't behind her. Sobs escaped her as her throat began to close up. The damn medicine had caused her an allergic reaction and it was a struggle for her to breathe. She wondered if she would choke to death while running. How awful would that be - to escape the Death Chute, only to die from her throat swelling up. God, what was life anymore? It had to be a surreal dream but when she looked around, the reality brought her back. Distant yells were heard, causing her heart to race at the sudden noise. "LUNA!!"

All she could do was focus on the forest in front of her as she sprinted madly through them. She had to escape. She wanted to live, not perish - especially that way! Death by vampires, slowly watching as the blood drained from her. She glanced at her chewed up wrists with terror. She was certain she left trails of blood but what did it matter? They could smell her a mile away and probably see her too. Oh no. Would Desiree send some of the stage D vampires after her? Oh God. She couldn't fight those off. Absentmindedly, she touched her throat and brought her hands away to find blood gushing from them. It only fueled her terror and anxiety even more. Another sob escaped her. Was that the end? Would she bleed out in these woods? She hoped not. She stared forward as her eyes burned with tears and stars danced in front of her vision. She was starting to gasp for air.

The cold night air whipped her hair into her face and caused her to stumble. She cried out as she lost her footing and rolled down a hill. Her hands grasped the rocks and branches, but they only broke off and smacked her in the face. She yelped in fear and was deposited at the bottom of it and onto her back. Winded and disoriented, Luna stared up at the night sky. The stars blinked down at her, as if mocking her for her situation. Tears streamed down her face as she curled up into a ball and assessed the situation. Her legs were bleeding, adding to her throat, wrists and ankles. She heard another distant yell of her name and shot to her feet. She stumbled and saw double as she thrust herself forward into a half-haphazard run. The sound of splashing caused her to inhale and looked down to find herself standing in a river. She sunk into it to try to cleanse the blood off of her. She needed to help quell the stench of it and her own scent. This only proved to be agonizing; her open wounds nearly made her scream out loud. She bit her tongue hard enough to slice it in half and let out another sob into her soaked hands.

Luna glanced over her shoulder as she gathered herself to continue running. She couldn't stand around anymore, washing herself off. She didn't know where she was going or where she would end up. Anywhere was better than here or back in the hellish nightmare. She gasped for air and clutched her throat. She could only beg her body not to succumb to the medication and the vampire venom. At the same time, she could hear distant but closer yells of her name. Luna scowled as terror began to settle in. For a moment, the werewolf was unsure if she would truly survive. She gritted her teeth and refused to give in. She closed her eyes and used the reserves of her energy to transform into her werewolf form. The pain erupted for a moment then settled down. She took several deep breathes and began to sprint as fast as she could. She had wanted to save her energy, but they were gaining on her.

Luna sped towards what seemed to smell like food. Maybe Ember Groves was closer! She felt giddy for a moment as exhaustion began to settle in. Her throat was starting to swell by now, and her legs were trembling from the bleeding. Luna paused running and looked over her shoulder with deep violet eyes. The vampires were a couple miles away. She trotted forward until her body forcefully gave out nearby a bush. She looked around it and scooted more into it for shelter. Then, knowing she couldn't save herself, let out a loud, echoing pleading howl. There had to be werewolves nearby... There had to be. Luna felt her heart pounding beginning to slow down as her breathing became quick and shallow. Her vision blurred as she curled up into a ball and tucked her tail around her face. Slowly but surely, the scenery faded and everything went black.

Time: Dusk
Location: Lover’s Lake and the woods nearby then to Vie et Mort's community
Interaction with: N/A

The autumn air was crisp and darkness had finally enveloped the town of Ember Grove. Noah had been waiting, rather impatiently for night to fall so that he could finally get a decent bite to eat. Restlessly he prowled through the woods, the thirst burning deep in his throat, watching as a group of students held a bonfire. University had recently started up again and one of his favorite hunting grounds was once again fully stocked. The air was thick with the smell of lusty, hot blooded, humans. It wasn’t long before a couple headed off, alone, into woods away from the rest of the group that had gathered here at Lover’s Lake. A gleeful grin spread across his face; and now the hunt would begin. He stalked them silently through the woods. Once they were further away from the rest of the humans the game began. Noah began taunting the humans, allowing his feet to step on a branch or two all while staying hidden in the darkness. Then occasionally allowing the humans a glimpse of him as he sped through the trees, circling them like a predator would. He could smell the hint of fear coming off the female human, while the male still smelled of lust.

“Babe I swear something is following us, don’t tell me you didn’t just see that.” The anxiety had crept into the female’s voice, but the male seemed unconcerned, assuring her it was likely just an animal. He wasn’t wrong, Noah thought, they were all but animals, with vampires being the most superior animal of them all.

“An animal, perhaps. But you can call me death itself.” Noah spoke with a soft menace in his voice as he stepped out from the shadows of the trees to where the human prey could see him. The male quickly moved in front of the female, his hand trembling as he pulled a small knife from his pocket and pried it open. He held the knife in front of him, brandishing the trinket as if such a weapon could be a threat to Noah. The vampire tilted his head to the side, flashing a grin that showed off his fangs as they extended, while his eyes gave off a predatory gleam. Now the male smelled of fear too.

“Back off, asshole.” The male shouted, a tremble in his voice. Noah moved faster than either human could have anticipated, and in seconds he closed the distance between him and his prey.

“Boo.” Noah whispered, his now red eyes locking with the male, as he raised his arms up to the night sky, allowing the male a clean strike. “Your move.” He taunted. The male moved quickly, for a human, and thrust the knife into Noah’s abdomen.

“Laura run!” The male shouted as he went to take a step back to do the same.

Noah let out a laugh as the knife pierced his skin. “That tickles.” He said before pulling the pocket knife out his stomach. As the man turned to run, Noah moved quickly, stabbing the knife into the male’s arm and grabbing him by the hair as he screamed. Noah jerked the male’s head back with one hand while holding the injuried arm with his other, digging his fingers into the knife wound. “Yes, Laura run.” He shouted at the already fleeing female who paused to turn and look at them. Once Noah saw that she was watching he sank his fangs into the neck of struggling male victim. The female, Laura, let out a scream before scrambling to run once more. Noah drank from the male before tossing his body aside. “It so much more fun when you run.” He shouted, taking a minute to lick the blood off his fingers before chasing after the female.

Noah herded the female deeper into the woods and away from the lake and the other humans at the lake. “Laura!” He shouted after her, whistling like one would do to call a dog. He continued the chase, until the fear was strong enough that he could almost taste it from the scent alone. Then he stopped holding back, he sped up closing the distance between himself and the female. With a swift motion he grabbed the human and tossed her against a tree. “You can’t run, you can’t hide, but you can scream all you want.” He offered as he turned to face her.

Instead of screaming the terrified human grasped at a cross she wore around her neck, muttering something to herself. Noah chuckled as he realized what the human was doing. “Are you praying?” He asked amused. He took a small step back and threw up his hands towards the sky. “Dear heavenly Father if my deeds offend thee then strike me down and save this precious lamb of yours.” Noah shouted up to the sky as he took a few more steps closer to his prey. He paused for the drama of it, and then shrugged.

“Well, I guess he just doesn’t care.” Noah said before quickly grabbed the cross from her fingers and ripped it from her neck. “Maybe he’s just really busy.” He added sarcastically before holding the cross up and licking it. Noah enjoyed mocking the things humans thought would protect them; their religious symbols, their weapons, and the places they thought they should be safe. He dangled the cross necklace in front of the terrified human. “Must be broken.” Noah taunted as he tossed the cross over his shoulder. The human moved to run again but he grabbed her by the neck and smacked her head into the tree, just hard enough to knock the human unconscious.

“One for me, one for the clan.” He said cheerfully, having enjoyed his successful hunt. The taste of human blood still sitting in his throat, cooling the thirst that burned in him. As much as he wanted to drink both humans, he was supposed to be bringing in more blood slaves for the clan, and for now his thirst currently satiated. He slung the unconscious human over his shoulder and spent a good few minutes trying to remember where he’d left his car. Eventually he found his way back to a black beat up old car he’d stolen not too long ago. He tied up the human, before tossing her into the truck. Then he frowned, he wasn’t supposed to leave bodies lying around to arouse suspicion and the male was still back in the woods. He also figured he shouldn’t leave the female in the trunk in case she managed to get out either. Noah scratched his head as he wondered what to do.

He shrugged and slammed the trunk closed, wasn’t much he could do about it now and he certainly wasn’t afraid of human hunters. The thought of playing games with the hunters excited him, they’d make much more interesting prey than other humans. As a young vampire he felt invincible and the thought that a simple mortal could ever end his fun never crossed his mind. He still grinned with excitement as he started up the car, in his mortal life he’d never gotten to drive. He sped, without caution, through the back roads making his way towards route 68 and the small town that was now Vie et Mort. He took the side road hard enough that the tires screeched as the car turned and slammed the breaks once he was inside gates of the community. His driving had all been, rather poorly, self-taught.

The Mills Community, a small town completely under control Vie et Mort, was a place Noah had spent nearly half his life. He owed everything he had to these vampires, he had started his time her as a lowly blood slave, as insignificant as an ant, and now he was a vampire, a creature more akin to a god than any human could dream of being. Noah noticed how the minor knife wound was already mostly healed, only adding to how powerful he felt. He searched out the guard in charge of the living blood bags and flashed a wide grin once he spotted the man.

“I have brought a gift.” Noah said proudly, for the first time in a while he had managed to bring in a human alive, and without a single bite, to help restock the community food source. Frequently during the thrill of the hunt, it was difficult to keep enough control. Who would’ve thought that he just needed to eat first?

“A live one this time?” The guard asked. Noah nodded yes and the man sent another vampire to retrieve Noah’s gift. Once the human, now awake, was pulled from the trunk of the car he caught the enticing smell of human blood. His went red again as he starred at the human who was dragged away screaming. The thirst burned in his throat, not as powerfully as before but enough that he still felt it. “You did well, Noah.” The other vampire said, laying a hand on Noah’s shoulder and breaking him from his trace-like state.

“Yeah.” He said nodding in agreement. He was improving as a vampire, doing better, soon he’d be rid of any trace of human weakness. “Could you let Mistress Celeste know, that I am doing better?” He asked hopeful.

“I’ll do you one better, and make sure Desiree gets a full report on how well you’re doing. You know Celeste has been unreachable in her travels.” The other vampire said softly, giving Noah a look that the younger vampire found strange. He looked at him with pity, and Noah wondered if it was because he knew why his sire had left without saying anything. Noah was convinced she left because he had not been a good enough vampire, but how would his sire know how much he had improved if she did not stay in contact with Vie et Mort? He would have to do something impressive enough that word might reach her on her travels. Again, the thought of hunting the hunters crossed his mind, what better why to show his improvement than to hunt a more dangerous prey, something that could pose threat to even vampires.

“Thank you, sir.” Noah said before heading off to get cleaned up. The night was still young and if he wanted to go back out again being covered in blood was not the way to do it. He had a new fixation caught in his head; he would hunt hunters, he would be a better vampire, and his sire would have to be proud to have him in her bloodline if he did these things.

"What a wonderful tune."

The sweet, feminine voice with a strong french accent spoke out from behind him a good fifteen feet away. Her snowy white hair blew gently with the ocean breeze, nearly matching the pale-pink color of her skin. She wore a black dress tailored to her slender form, decorated with lace and adorned by a silver-like necklace with a single, brilliant ruby gem. Helene had only arrived in Ember grove a couple hours ago and was staying in a motel until more she could acquire better accommodations, after all money was not an issue for her. Pinkish-red eyes that shined in the growing moonlight looked out towards the folding waves of the ocean as she slowly took steps towards him. She had only seen the ocean twice in her long lifetime and its mystery was still captivating and awe-inspiring.

A gentle smile creased her lips as she reached his side, standing just out of reach with her hands clasped in front of her "I hope I am not disturbing you, I simply find the ocean so...beautiful." The toes of her feet dug into the soft, cold sand turning her gaze down towards the man besides her. It did not take much observation to know he was not okay, though she had no idea of how to help. Did he even want her company? Helene hoped so. It had been so long since she had met someone new so she selfishly invaded his space. What was his name? Where did he come from? What food did he like? Did he like music? Her head were filled with so many questions it was difficult to keep from blurting them all out at once. He was hurting, and all she wanted to do was get acquainted.

She had spent so many years practicing her speeches and learning the nuances of other languages, but she couldn't come up with a way to carry the conversation further. Besides her isolation, there has never been a time in her life where she felt great pain or sadness...just a longing for the outside world. What was that feeling like? To feel such pain, such anguish? This man was suffering yet she couldn't help but wonder what made him feel like this in a strangely envious way. She pivoted slowly in the sand and faced him "Pardon my manners, my name is Helene. May I have yours?" She asked hopefully, a glint of cheer in her eyes and smile. Whatever darkness enveloped his heart, sharing a view such as this together is surely better than being alone.

Lucius sat in the corner of the cafe with the best amount of lighting, a black leather-bound journal in front of him and hot cup of earl grey tea to the side. A pen gripped firmly in his right hand moved at brisk pace across the cream colored pages, filling it up entirely with Latin characters and a couple side-notes. This journal was the newest addition to his massive collection, each written during his time with one organization or another. Each was sealed with a powerful spell to prevent any curious eyes from seeing their contents. Writing being one of few hobbies he had, he enjoyed this quaint little shop and writing down his thoughts, what's he's done so far, and what his plans are.

Yesterday, he dragged a young vampire into the lands of one of the local werewolf clans and butchered him, making a detailed autopsy report in the previous page of this journal. His time with the Children of the Black Moon, while brief, has keep him entertained so far as has his role as a mentor for some of the younger witches. Slowly he has been sowing the seeds of distrust and malice between the Children of the Black Moon and the Le Coven Éclairé. With time they will sprout given careful nurturing, bearing the fruits of destruction. For now, he will keep parading around as a loyal member of the coven while investigating ways to foster animosity between the supernatural races here beyond the two covens.

He paused his writing for a moment to look at the other clientele of the cafe. A truly pitiful lot. Each one of them were soft and underdeveloped, cushioned by a society that would rather hide in the gutter than face their faults. It was impossible for him not to view the entire lot of them as nothing but children, wallowing in uncertainty without a sense of direction or purpose. That is why it was his duty to provide them with such, to expose them to hardships that will unlock their deepest potential. It was only a matter of time, and he had all the patience in the world. His tired eyes glanced out the window at the descending nightfall. Night, as Ember Grove knows, belongs to supernatural.

The bartender listened to Kade's order and offered to to start a tab for him as she made him his drink. "Sounds like a great idea!" he said enthusiastically, but with a hint of caution in his voice since she also asked for his name.

Taking a quick look around the room, trying to identify who of the people inside this bar are the vampires his pistol warned him of, he realized something was off. It's not that he can tell vampires apart from humans just by appearance, but he's usually at least able to tell who looks like they could potentially be a threat, or at least cross off those who look like they wouldn't be a threat at all. But everyone in this bar just looked... ordinary, and with the way that his pistol vibrated when he walked in here, he felt that was highly unlikely.

"You can put me down as Dylan." said Kade.

He looked over at the few men sitting across on the other side of the bar. They looked like they could be part of a gang, but there was nothing supernatural about that. Are there known gangs in Ember Grove? he thought to himself. His gaze then lowered down to see that they too, as expected, had wristbands.

The bartender passed him his drink and asked him another question, but Kade was too busy trying to fiddle with his own wristband. He tried to tear it off but to no avail - It was sealed up by something beyond physical. He smirked as he looked over to the entrance of the bar. "Not while I'm in here then, huh?" he whispered under his breath.

He let out a sigh, part of it in relief. If he can't see them, they can't see him. He then glugged his drink whole.

"Yeah I'm new in town," he finally responded. "I got offered a job that pays well, decided to move here and give it a try." he said shrugging, then shooting her another charming smile. "I've been in town for two days having no idea what are some good things to do around here... got any suggestions?"

He then raised his empty glass, smirking, "Also, think I could get another?"

Caught off guard, Boris flinched, ending his humming with a choke and throwing himself out of a fetal position. How embarrassing. She heard his humming. He never let anyone hear his humming. Being found that way, he must look so weak. How hasn't he heard her coming?

At first he tried to ignore the stranger, thinking that maybe she would ignore him too and go away, but then she came closer. He only turned his head to look at her when the smell of blood hit him. Concern took over and he quickly searched her body, scanning to see if she was wounded, but then was caught off guard again. She was not wounded, not at all. She was wearing what looked to him like the most expensive dress in the world, not that he has memories of many dresses to compare it to. He then thought how her accent made her sound fancy, at least to his poor understanding of what would be fancy. Was she some sort of royalty? And if so what was she doing talking to someone like him? she must think he's homeless and is expressing her pity for him. Or maybe it wasn't anything like that at all... after all, that smell...

He shifted his gaze back to the sand, considering just standing up and leaving. He saw her eyes, almost red like blood stained glass. Her skin was pale, shimmering under the remaining bit of sunlight. Yeah, he thought he should definitely leave. But then she stood in front of him and politely introduced herself, her voice sweet and flowing with kindness which he found confusing. Helene, it's a pretty name he thought.

"Boris." was what he said when she asked for his name, the R rolling hard on his tongue due to his accent, which he hated. Compared to her accent, he must sound like a brute. He sure looks like one.

He looked up at her, flickers from the water behind her reflected in his blue eyes. He hesitated before he spoke: "You're a vampire."

He immediately cursed to himself in Russian under his breathe. He didn't mean to say it like that. It sounded like he tried to insult her but he was merely trying to let her know that he knew and didn't necessarily have a problem with it. Technically, his new alpha would not approve of him even entertaining this conversation to begin with, but she approached him, peacefully. He has never interacted with a vampire before, but was told of their habit to drink blood, which would explain the smell. But she was kind, in a curious type of way, she was kind.

"S...S...Sorry." he stuttered as he shook his head in shame, lowering it back down. He hoped she didn't notice his stutter. He brought his feet close, sitting cross legged, moving sand around with his toes. He was a grown man acting like a nervous child. How embarrassing.

With a sigh of relief, Rachel hung up her apron. Somehow, they'd managed to keep their heads above water during an unusually busy lunch rush, and were even ahead of schedule in quite a few ways. With the restaurant in good shape, the sorceress headed out to her car and made her way to Alexei's.

The bar wasn't exactly raucous, but it sure wasn't silent, either. Heading up to the bar, Rachel ordered a craft brew. One of the things about her particular... condition was that she couldn't actually get drunk, but she loved the taste. It seemed Rose was behind the bar, which was a good thing. Rachel was on good terms with most of the other witches in town, or at least, she tried her damnedest to be. "Hey, Rose. How are things going for you these days?"

The Ember Grove Mall bustled with people during this time. Ember Grove was a small town in a small county, so the mall was the place to be if you wanted to take up your time in a local place.

Damien walked on his own through the moderate traffic of people while taking bites out of an Auntie Anne's cinnamon sugar pretzel. It made for an enjoyable treat while he let his eyes scan the passing faces and his nose pick up some standout scents.

This place has everything doesn't it? No wonder the Holy Saviors requested I come here. The Children of the Black Moon, Le Coven Éclairé...

He gulped the last bite of the pretzel down before a satisfying smile etched on his face. And all of the other groups that will help me pick them off. I just need to make sure Rose gets something extra special. Damien walked to a flower stand and grabbed a bouquet of white petunias. Damien had always found the flower to have a unique beauty to them.

"Hey there." Damien put on a pleasant smile at the older woman running the stand. "How much for these?" Damien's mask was indeed flawless.

The procedure didn't take all that long, and the victim was placed in post-op care after the fact to commence the recovery process. Given that her job was done, Nathalie decided to take some time to finally eat. She went to her office to grab some of her things, including her phone and wallet. She used to enjoy talking to her fiancé during her breaks, but now she kept the device on her primarily for emergency purposes. That, and the cardiology department recently moved locations while they were renovating the north wing, meaning she could use the phone to avoid having to talk to Jason since the two would be running into each other a lot more than before.

Nathalie made her way down the maze of hallways, seeing some of her colleagues on the way and greeting them quickly before picking up the pace again. She was risking a stern lecture from her superior for leaving the hospital grounds, but she was craving something other than the usual cafeteria food she often settled for. The mall was right across the street, and if she could get her hands on some Asian cuisine, she'd be set for the night.

A minute later, Nathalie looked both ways before jogging across the street, not bothering to use the pedestrian crosswalk. She passed a cop standing adjacent to a parked car who motioned towards the small intersection. She waved at him with a smile, knowing what he was implying. She was technically in the wrong, but the road was empty and all was forgiven. Nathalie continued to hurry across the parking lot to enter the mall through the food court area, her mind already made up regarding what she was going to get.

The young warlock replaced the lid on his green pen with a weary, yet satisfied, sigh. Glasses were removed and the bridge of his nose massages by long figures. He’d worked tirelessly this week to get all his planning and marking completed in order to give himself a weekend free of paperwork. The last set of papers were now marked and his weekend could properly begin.

He tidied his stationery and the term of assessments into his satchel and returned his attention to the remaining sweet potato fries left on his plate. He was planning on going out for a few drinks tonight so needed to get a move on if he wanted enough time to shower and change back at the house before heading out to wherever the night took him and his cousins. For the first time in months he was looking forward to letting his hair down.

The caffeine having reached his bladder, Felix slipped from his booth and wove around the cafe, acknowledging a few familiar faces and observing the normality of his new home. That was until he glanced at a man’s journal as he passed his table and found himself at the receiving end of a older variation of a inspiciendum inanis strepitus spell so powerful he barely acknowledged that it was there. The man looked up around the room as the younger warlock quickly turned away speeding up his steps to the toilets and quickly locked himself in a cubicle.

Who was that? Felix had been sent to Ember Grove to record its history and establish a continuing record system, recruiting a local seeker and archivist - not to face off with a potentially ancient warlock… He sat on the seat and took a deep breath. Right - plan of action needed. He took a deep breath and focused his magic. He first sent more energy into his suus cautio and immediately felt more confident. He then quickly crafted animum nuntius to send a small flock of ephemeral sparrows through the bathroom window. The translucent birds were engulfed by the twilight but sped off to find his cousins to whisper his message in their ears.

With nothing else that could be done, Felix quickly went about his normal business in the toilet and bustled back to his seat via a different route, conscience not to look in the other warlock’s direction. With poised efficiency he threw the last crumbs of pastry into his mouth, locked his satchel and swiftly exited the cafe to make a beeline for home. He buttoned up his coat as he quickly text Violet: ‘On my way home. See you in a few.’ So much for a fun uneventful evening of a few drinks…

Time: Dusk
Location: Leblanc Home

Ambience:Music

"Have a good night serving drinks at weenie hut junior ♥"

Texted to Rose approximately five minutes ago

In the quaint little kitchen of the empty Leblanc house, the music emitted from a speaker and managed to make its way through each and every room. Violet was mixing a marinara sauce, her body swaying with the music. Her hair was back in a black bow and she wore a white apron over her black lace dress. She had on some trendy black platforms as well. She pursed her lipstick-coated lips thoughtfully as she tasted the sauce. A delighted smile crossed her face in reaction and she twirled around smoothly on her feet, waving her hands outward as all the cabinets and the fridge doors opened simultaneously. She then used her fingers to delegate as ingredients began to practically dance in midair to the island counter. Her gaze locked on the pasta box as it moved swiftly above a pot of boiling water and began to empty its contents right in.

Matilda, who? Violet thought with amusement. A flash of white in the corner of her eye made her tilt her head in the direction of the speaker to see Chéri had hopped up on the counter. She folded her arms as the ferret stared at her without another movement. "Don't judge me. I'm not lazy." She told the animal with a light-hearted pout.

The ferret simply hit the next button on her phone. Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic by the Police started to boom through the room. Violet giggled, her hands folding near her mouth. "Oh, Chéri, you little menace." She made her way over to scoop her up in her hands and then set her down on a stool. She crumbled some of the spare chicken meat on a little dish to give as a treat to Chéri. After washing her hands, she began to prepare chicken parm.

Violet enjoyed being home alone and not just because she could do whatever she wanted. She knew the perfect thing for Felix, Rose and her father to come home to would be a home-cooked meal. Rose and father had their own things to do while Violet had been taking time off school for now. She had sent in a few applications to some part-time jobs, but she was not entirely sure yet. Though, the cute little german bakery in town seemed like a perfect choice for her; she was thinking of pursuing that one.

Whilst in her thoughts, a whispering voice made her pause. She did a slight side-ways gaze at the translucent bird as she listened. I guess if anyone asks how I knew about the new warlock, I can quite literally tell them that a little birdie told me. Despite her thought, she was perplexed by the situation. They did not get many new warlocks in town. Who on earth was he that even Felix did not know of him? He certainly was not part of their coven.

Her phone buzzed not too long after, the speaker reading out Felix's text as she continued her work. Felix was on his way home. Waving her hand, she turned the speaker off to give a quiet environment for him to walk into. She certainly hoped he'd give more information upon arrival as she could not help but be very curious.

Liam and his pack had been in Ember Grove for only a short amount of time but already this was a promising town. There was more supernatural activity going on here than even in many of the large cities he’d been too. Mysterious disappearances, high murder rates, and the unmistakable hint of blood that seemed to taint the air here. It would seem the rumors about this place were true, Ember Grove had it all; hunters, witches, and vampire threats lurking around every corner. With all it had going on finding wolves shouldn’t be much trouble either; with one new wolf already in their ranks. Only days after they had arrived in town and settled in the campgrounds, he had found another werewolf here with saddest eyes he’d ever seen. That wolf, Boris, was welcomed into the pack and the pack welcomed Boris, after all, to Liam, this was the purpose as of a family, of a pack. While the others of the pack where given assignments, to integrate into the town, sniff out threats, or search for other wolves or packs to help them, he gave none to Boris. Liam felt this new wolf needed time to adjust and wasn’t quite ready for pack work just yet.

Learning the layout of the town was easy enough, it was small and Liam had a keen sense of direction. He was glad to see it had a good amount of woods surrounding it and the campgrounds provided a perfect space for werewolves, most of his kind preferred the outdoors to small apartments or motel rooms. This preference worked to their advantage in a few ways, shying away from too many human comforts kept them from growing soft, it kept the pack together making it easier to look out for one another, and provided ample space for running, hunting, and training. With a pack that lived a nomadic lifestyle living in the woods or at campgrounds also helped keep living costs down. These were all considerations he had to keep in his mind as an alpha, he had to put the pack first, anticipate their needs, and constantly be on watch to ensure they were protected. If he didn’t, if he lost their trust, he wasn’t entirely sure what would come of all the wolves he’d banned together; would they wind up scattered and lost again or tear themselves apart with infighting?

Just as he allowed his wolves necessary breaks, Liam too took some nights to be alone, leaving his most trusted wolves in charge. There were two things in the world that allowed him to completely turn off his mind and enjoy the moment; riding his Harley and running as a wolf. As Ember Grove now fell under a cover of darkness, Liam elected for the later choice. Shifting into the large black werewolf that felt more like his true self than the body he was born with, he took to a section of the woods away from the campgrounds and the heavy burden of leadership. He ran feeling the cold autumn air through his thick fur and making a dinner of a few wild rabbits that also called these woods a home.

His peace was broken by a mournful cry and Liam froze as the sound of another wolf’s howl pierced through the forest. His ears pricked up and he sniffed the air, searching for the direction the howl came from and ran full force towards the cry. The closer he got the heavier the smell of blood became, and he could smell vampires in the area. The wolf he’d heard was in grave danger and he pushed himself to run faster. Liam nearly missed the injured wolf, her dark fur hiding her well as she lay curled up beneath a bush, but his nose caught her scent. He skittered quickly to a stop and crouched low to the ground, gently nudging the other wolf with his nose. For a second he worried she might be dead but he caught sight of her shallow breathing. He scanned the area and while he didn’t see the vampires yet he could smell them and they were close. He nudged the wolf once more hoping to wake her.

After purchasing the flowers with the cash he had been blessed with, Damien took a good whiff of the bouquet. Though a muted expression showed on his face, Damien was satisfied with the fresh scent of the flowers. The scent almost urged his beastlier side to want to go outdoors. However, another scent also tugged at him. The smell of cooked meat. The pretzel had been a snack to please the taste buds, but meat was a must in Damien's diet, especially since his transition.

Following his instincts, Damien headed straight for the food court. Upon reaching it, he found himself wondering what he should eat. The options weighed on his stomach for a moment. At least until his acute hearing caught the sound of someone else's grumbling in the distance. It caused Damien set his eyes on a woman with short dark hair in scrubs…

Scrubs… definitely someone I should get to know… Yeah, I can play this. Damien took out his phone and used his camera to get a good look at himself. He squinted as he noticed a few speckles of cinnamon sugar from the pretzel on the upper chest area of his charcoal v-neck t-shirt. He dusted it off quickly but failed to get all of it off before slipping his phone back into his jeans and making his way towards the woman who appeared to be dead set on getting food from the Teriyaki Wok at the left end of the food court. He got in line behind her, and took a silent deep breath before speaking.

"Hey um excuse me, do you work at the hospital? I mean, duh of course you do." Damien chuckled nervously, obviously a bit flustered when speaking to the woman. "Let me start over… My name's Damien and I'm new in town. Oh and don't mind these." Damien held the flowers back as if to hide them from the conversation. "I've been job hunting all day in this place and was wondering if there were any positions open at the hospital before I trekked on over. I'm pretty much on my own here, so I'll take anything right now."

Rose found it quite interesting the wording he used to give her his name. She glanced sidelong at him briefly before entering the information and then grabbing a small scanner to link his bracelet to his tab. ”A job that pays well here in Ember Grove? You must be working for the government or something then!” She said jokingly with a small laugh as she pointed at his bracelet. ”I need to scan you bracelet to link you to the tab.” She told him, waiting patiently to scan it.

Once she scanned it she moved back to the computer to make sure things were in order:

Name: Dylan
ID: H00005632408
Status: Open

Once she was satisfied she added another drink as he requested it before moving back over and taking the glass. ”Well if I’m being honest this is the place to have the most fun in this town. Other than this there’s the mall, the beach, and Lover’s Lake. That’s about it though, this is a small town after all.” She said as she poured the amber liquid. Normally she would put fresh ice in the glass, but he downed the last drink so quickly she didn’t see a point yet. ”Also, word of advice. Don’t let Viktor over there see you messing with that bracelet otherwise he might think that you lied about your age or you’re trying to skip out on your bill.” She said as she gave him a smirk before setting the glass down.

Rachel had approached the bar, greeting her and Rose gave her a nod. ”Hey Rachel, things are fine. Same old, same old. What can I get ya tonight?” She said to the woman as she moved back to the computer. As she did so, she noticed a tiny spectral bird flying through the door and keeping high to the ceiling so as not to be noticed by others. It disappeared almost as quickly as it came and a message appeared on the computer screen from Felix. It quickly disappeared as well and she found the contents of the message quite curious. She hadn’t seen any new warlocks in town yet, but at the same time she did try to keep to herself with most things. She mostly only saw new people if they came into the bar.

She hadn't been standing in line for too long, but long enough for her to wonder why the woman who was currently placing an order was taking longer than she should. Nathalie was both equally hungry and pressed for time, but the slightly timid woman didn't dare say a word regarding her thinning patience. She simply remained quiet, at least until a man standing behind her addressed her.

"Pleasure meeting you, Damien, I'm Nathalie," she replied after hearing him out. She couldn't help but notice he was tall and ridiculously handsome, his looks similar to those of male models one often sees in magazines. That was one of the reasons his inquiry struck her as a bit of an odd conversation starter, but on the other hand, the job market in a small town wasn't exactly prosperous. "I'm not sure what your options are in the hospital as a whole, but I know that my department has an administrative position available. I work in the ER, and I'd be more than happy to help you through the process. I mean, I'm assuming that's somewhere along your line of work."

She smiled a little, embarrassed at the fact that she had pegged him for an office type without first asking. But in her defense, Damien hadn't been specific about his professional skills. "Would you be interested in that offer?"

Out of the corner of her eye, Nathalie noticed the lined had moved up some. She took a step towards the cashier without giving her back to Damien, and for some reason she wondered whom the flowers were for.
