It was already quite late, and the admissions officer was still in his office at work. Sure, there were no more applicants this late, but his work wasn't done yet. Like a wise man once said, the ride never ends, though in this case the 'ride' was 'work'.

I need a break. The man thought to himself as he sighed, glancing over the paper he held in his hand, before putting it down.

Only to be face-to-face with a girl. Holding out an application form. At nighttime. The poor man shrieked as, for a moment, he thought he'd gone insane. He thought he'd started seeing things. So many applicants inflicting so much trauma, that he was now imagining a black-haired girl with brilliant ocean-blue eyes standing in front of him.

"Hey now. That's rude. I'm not that ugly." The girl spoke. Great. Now his inner traumas were speaking to him. Or were they? Was this an actual, living, student, showing up for an interview at this hour? Judging by the application... she was.

"A... Are you.... real?" The man asked hesitantly, looking the girl up and down for a moment. "Or are you just my mind playing tricks on me?"

"Last time I checked... I was real! So I think I still am. I want to enroll here, I heard you were the guy to speak to." The girl said, placing the form on the poor man's desk. Might as well get this over with. The man thought to himself. I really need a different job.

"So... Alura, is it? Your... Your nationality simply says 'Not from Here'. Does that mean..."

"I am not from the Federation." Alura said, her voice sounding... off as she interrupted the man. It sounded empty, yet also... distorted. It echoed slightly. It gave the man a slight headache. "It means nothing more, nothing less. M'kay?"

"...right. I shouldn't be questioning things at this point. You wouldn't believe the things I've seen."

"I probably would, but that is not what we are here for."

"Of course. So... uh... you say your magic is..." The man trailed off as he reread the form. Then reread it again. Oh boy.

"Eldritch magic! Occasionally it has some minor side-effects, but nothing to worry about. Usually." Alura stated, smiling and clapping her hands together, her right hand having a patch of purple skin.

"Right. So... anything important I should know?" The officer asked, scribbling something on the paper. Keep a close eye on her. Could be dangerous. Keep away from other students maybe?

"Hey now, that is a rude thing to write about someone." Alura said, glaring at the man, who paled in surprise.

"C... can you read minds?"

"No. I can read text that's written upside-down. You're not even taking an effort to hide what you're writing." Alura responded with a deadpan voice, before she dug through the bag she carried, and placed a small pouch on the desk. Judging by the sound, they were coins.

"I have been told that... donations often result in... favourable room assignments. Please let whoever is in charge know I made this donation, and prefer to be in a comfortable room."

...A bribe. That honestly wasn't surprising. With a tired sigh and a nod, the officer took the pouch, and put it to the side. "She will be informed. Anything el-"

Alura was already gone. Without making use of the door. The only sign of her previous presence was the form, the pouch of coins, and the strange purple mold on the floor.

I should see if I can get that saint from earlier to excorsise this room.

The officer stood up and moved to the hole in the wall, taking a deep breath of fresh air to try to relieve the stress. When he turned back to his table, he blinked, noticing there was an apple over it, again.

"Was that dog's spell temporary?" He wondered aloud. The pome looked nice and juicy, bright red. "Maybe..." it was that apple, it had been through some heavy magical influence, he flirted with the idea of eating it, even took a bottle of "Miss Mystic's Magic Nullifier" and sprayed over it, but that would not be enough to make it clear.

"Well, better not to risk it." he moved the apple towards the trash can.

"Wait! Wait! What are you doing? Are you some sort of psychopath!?" a female voice had suddenly said, but looking around the officer saw nothing.

"In your hand!" He turned to see his apple had a panicking face and was wiggling.

"What the!?" he quickly moved the fruit back to the table, a dog he could take but a talking apple was pushing it. "Were you alive the whole time or did you gain a personality after the dog used his spell on you?"

"What are you babbling about? I just arrived here you inept fool." the apple continued, as angry as she tried to be, her face on the small fruit was quite cute.

Looking down, he did notice that where the apple was there was also her paperwork.

The name was Mela Seb-Apfel... "Couldn't fit a Ringo in there too?" he whispered. Age 16, Female, a foreigner born in Ostfeld.

For appearance, she had a photo of a girl, long brown hair, dark clothes, notably not round and red. Species was... Human?

"Are you sure you wrote this right? It isn't... you know, an apple."

"Just a moment and I will turn back to my original form." the face on the apple would puff her cheeks and wiggle, trying that multiple times before gasping for air. "For some reason, it is impossible. Must be that thing you sprayed on me."

The admissions officer narrowed his eyes, despite being tired he could see how fishy it was. If she was trying to return to her normal form the nullifier would help, this meant she wasn't a human.

"We have a dryad teacher and plenty of plant sprites, half-ents, and the sort are enrolled," he said calmly. "I guess none of those are like you, but it's not like we would judge."

The fruit pouted and furrowed her eyebrows "Sir... In the contract, it was promised that the school would respect my privacy and not ask personal questions."

He couldn't help but smile at the sight of an annoyed apple "Sure, I will just write down plant-person. Deal?"

"It's an acceptable compromise. Could you clean me please, I have no hands at the moment."

He nodded, and as gently as he could, started to rub her over with a cloth. It seemed she liked it. "How did you walk in here as an apple anyway?"

She quickly took the form of a human, the same one he had seen in the photo. "I was not an apple when arrived. You see, I fell asleep... It was because you took an eternity to return..." she was not a good liar as an apple, as a blushing human she was even more obvious, so she gave up "I have something akin to narcolepsy."

He left it at that. He also didn't bring up how it meant she had reverted to her normal form while asleep, thus further proving she wasn't a natural human.

"Your magic style Mela?"

"My specialty is apple magic." the girl said, trying once again to look tough after feeling so belittled in her apple form. "Poisoned apples, blessed apples, golden apples, candy apple grenades..." she said nonchalantly.

"I see..." he smirked again, making her pouty. He didn't know what to write in magical quirk since she was so closed off about it, so he merely made a not on the issue at hand.

"I take you came to Fae Creek because of the lack of background checks?"

"I thought it was easier to get in, but it seems some of the staff is awfully curious." she responded.

For personality, she seemed to be aggressive when cornered but overall veering towards a sweet-ish behavior. Very polite unless provoked. She seemed to enjoy being touched when he was cleaning her of the magic nullifier. For backstory, she had written something:

Though I may be a slapping today, there will come a time where everyone will stand in my shadow.

He tried not to laugh, adding: a bit delusional to her personality.

"Well then Mela, here you go. Welcome to Fae Creek... good luck out there. Try to stay sweet."

Mela said nothing, merely rolling her eyes and taking the invitation.

Species Name: Candelabra

Description: Candelabra's are essentially candle people. They are made of wax completely, and have little flammable wicks on the top of their head. They can be an assortment of colors, and can in fact melt. Melting doesn't kill them however, and they will never melt to the point of being deformed. Sometimes the melting makes their face very droopy looking, so they're expressions can be extremely exaggerated as a result.

Physical Abilities / Skills: Though Baron is a casual smoker, he overall is in decent shape and is known to be a fairly good swimmer.

Magical Style: The most fitting schools of magic to label Baron as a practitioner of, would be artifice and technomancy. The natural affinity of the mana he produced is (quite fittingly) electromagical energy.
Magical Quirks: One of the most prominent characteristics of the House Nidavel bloodline, is the family's ability to generate nigh unreasonable amounts of mana. This trait has manifested especially strong within Baron. However, such a gift is not without it's price; as the young Noble is physically unable to store mana he produces-- thus severly limiting his ability to spellcast outside of using some kind of channeling medium (which tend to explode). Another ailment stemming from this genetic trait was a physical inability to sleep, fortunately this symptom was rather quickly corrected after it first surfaced.
Magical Skills, Hobbies and Interests: Baron can overclock, short-circuit, or outright explode (though the explosions may happen regardless) magi-tech that he touches. He is skilled in general artifice, magical engineering, and manaphysics-- all of which he likes to further his knowledge of in his free time.

Why are they enrolled in Fae Creek Academy?: Baron enrolled at Fae Creek in order to get a bit closer to nature, and out of the city while he works on a remedy for the "sleepwalking" issue he's recently developed. FCA simply seemed like the most suitable institution for... personal reasons.
Personality: Egotistical, Elitist, Arrogant
Backstory: During the little time that Baron spent with the interviewer, all that he was willing to disclose about his past was that he was the third son of Lord Cassidus Sebastian Nidavel, and thus third in line to head the noble family's prestiegous business Nidavalier Arms, Artifice, and Magi-tech.
General Skills, Hobbies and Interests: Baron is a reasonably skilled mechanic, loves to read, secretly likes seeing things explode every so often, and has always wanted to try fencing.

Name / Nickname: Aelicherenordiana. Usually calls herself Aelich for brevity.

Age: Though her body is about 17 years old, her soul is far, far older, likely predating anyone alive.

Nationality: A now dead nation, part of what is currently the Imperial Legion.

Appearance:

Species: Human. Technically speaking, a lich. Rather than your normal lich though, her body is very much alive and thriving, and she has no need of such a silly thing as a phylactery, her spirit merely forcing itself back into her body to revive.

Physical Abilities / Skills: Her body regenerates very quickly as a result of her prowess. Outside of that, she has manipulated it to barely require sustenance, metabolism perfectly efficient.

Magical Style: She supposes she's technically a necromancer, but she prefers the term soul manipulator. Using a bit of magic and her fingers, she can remotely control dead matter like a puppeteer, though she rarely uses that. Rather, she tends to prefer to mess around with souls and the bodies that hold them, able to use any part of her body that is 'her', from touch to breath, to grant her control over a particular soul. This has a number of perks, ranging from being able to pull the soul out of the body (which she rarely does), to reviving the dead with no ill side effects, outside of perhaps some hunger. For normal food. Not brains.

Magical Skills, Hobbies and Interests: Easily her biggest hobby is the manipulation and mastery of life, interested in anything that can improve the experience of life as a whole. Outside of that, she's fascinated with modern technology and magical advancements, claiming that beginner tricks were among the most complex spells in her time.

Why are they enrolled in Fae Creek Academy?: She heard that this school was among both the most dangerous, and easiest to get into, and figured its as fine a place as any to get into modern society. At the moment, she's trying to lay low and not draw attention from any major sources of power until she knows what the modern world is like

Personality: Her goals all wrap around to the central pursuit of knowledge about magic, although for her personally this prioritizes life, and how to improve it. That said, while she is ultimately benevolent, she is most certainly arrogant in her own prowess, and confident in her ability to revive herself, she's also most certainly not nice about her abilities, typically lecturing those she just revived about their mistakes, and having no sympathy for criminals, advocating that she should just liberate their souls from their bodies to make room for those who deserve life.

Backstory: Interestingly, it wasn't her parents that were killed. Centuries ago, potentially longer, Aelich studied healing magic, and expanded in it to the point of being able to harness the soul itself, both as an energy source, and as a tool of life. While this did take nearly her entire natural life span, none of that time shows since, due to her mastery, she simply rejuvenated her body back to a younger point. Introducing herself as Aelich, eventually she decided to simply stop thinking for a time, and allow time to pass, to see how society progressed. Over time, the rumors of Aelich cycled through the magical circles, coining the term Lich, though none could quite succeed with the mastery she had, requiring a vessel to house their souls while their imperfect revival typically left the newly coined Liches lacking true life. That said, her self imposed stasis did last longer than she intended...

General Skills, Hobbies and Interests: Primarily interested in both history and technology, although it will take her some time to adjust to the differences in languages.

The admissions officer sighed at the last paper on the stack, of course, this one only applied after they had started the party, but looking over the admission, he had to admit, it was a bit... strange, and if true, it could save them some valuable resources running those stupid expensive revival pods from all of the troublemakers this year. The door creaked open, the somewhat young girl (though about as old as the rest of the people, really) stepping in and sitting down across from him, seeming quite composed, and faintly smiling.

"So... let me get this straight, you specialize in the manipulation of the soul?" He stated slowly, to which the girl nodded, speaking slowly, an unplaceable accent on her speech. "Indeed. If you would like, I have a demonstration ready."

The officer paused at that, taking a moment to parse her speech, before shaking his head. "Ah... not immediately. I have a few questions. Your name is... A-lich-air-a-nor-die-ana?" "Close. Dee-ana, not die-ana. Also you can just call me Aelich." The girl nodded. "And your homeland is... 'The oldest historian wouldn't recognize the name'?" "From what I know, yes. I've checked up on a few old maps, and the oldest one is a few hundred years off."

The officer paused once more, shaking his head. This was a strange admission, he must admit... "So you're... what, a thousand years old?" He chuckled. "I'm not entirely sure. I've been napping for... a while." She frowns, then shrugs, grinning. "Right... so you can revive people from death?" "Up to a year! After that, I need to actually ask their permission." Aelich grins, and the admissions officer lets out a soft sigh. "Alright... I think I already have a roommate in mind for you... Although, why did you choose this school?" He asked almost incredulously. If this was all true, then surely she could go to a better school...

Aelich shrugged "Well, I heard a few rumors, and figured you'd take just about anyone, so I could use you to figure out what all has changed. And, uh... a lot has changed, really." Aelich winced, and the admissions officer did as well, though for a completely different reason. That was true... Well, she would probably make up the losses of having her as a student, by meaning they didn't have to pay to use the resurrection pods when some idiot ends up making a fatal mistake... "Fine. Then... consider yourself accepted. Although, I do want to see this so... and you're gone already."
